Christianity and Islam have done more to ruin than actually help Africa grow. As Desmond Tutu stated
“When the missionaries first came to Africa, they had the Bible and we had the land. They said, "Let us pray." We closed our eyes. when we opened them, we had the Bible and they had the land!"

How does one expect a society where the populace that never want to take responsibility for their actions and instead blame some supernatural force?

How can development occur if they are more churches and mosques in Africa than they are schools, hospitals, universities etc?

Our imaginary sky daddy is doing the healing so let's not waste money on hospitals.

Bros electricity is a problem in 2024. Electricity grin grin grin grin. The black man has failed completely. Its why racism can never ever offend me. Blacks are cursed.

Racism has never offended me. When I came to UK and saw their system, I thought to myself, if this people got to this point in life, who am I to complain I am not given full rights to what the citizens have or not treated right. As much as I want to be treated right and fight for it, I will not make a fuss about it because, resource wise, we are richer than Britain, but see where Britain is and where Nigeria is... It's appalling.

Countries are out there are spawning technologies like Quantum Computing, AI, Blockchain, Robotics,VR and Augmented Reality, Genomics and are trying push the boundaries of what humanity can achieve. America sent Neil Armstrong to the moon in the 60s shortly around when Nigeria became independent. Now Elon Musk and his company Space X and with NASA etc are aiming to reach Mars to go out of this world and explore the universe meanwhile down in Africa, They can’t even give their citizens basic amenities like constant power, adequate infrastructure and clean running which was something that was achieved decades ago in the rest of the world. Africa is a lost cause. I sometimes struggle to believe that place is real. I don’t know how an environment with all that potential could turn to be such a failure. It’s embarrassing. It’s so far behind the rest of the world that’s in a different time period. Africa is in 1824 but the rest of the world is in 2024😂

We are still in the stage of "die by fire...", suspecting everything is spiritual and believing in a sky daddy to do everything for us.

Other countries are now using nuclear energy, energy produced by fusing or fission of atoms. Here na, if you don't pray, you become prey...Pele.

Very poor formation and coordination, the soldiers were not even taking orders from their superior, they were given instructions to stop firing and they were still shooting.

In this kind operations they need up to 4 surveillance drones to map out the exaction positions of the bandits, having done that the next thing is to flank them
from both sides and encircled them.

Deception is another psychological weapon of direct impact in warfare, the commanding officer could have made it appear as if the are going to attack the bandits from the north but the actual attack would take place from the west. I wonder what they are teaching these commissioned officers at the Nigerian defense academy.

What they teach them na how to use left hand collect bribe for checkpoint.

This how the world works nowadays.

Germany will always support Israel even though Israel did wrong, just because they wants the Israelis to forget about what Hitler did to them (holocaust).

South Africa through mandela the hero Africa has seen the suffering of the Palestinians since the 1900s and are ready to defend them.

The u.s is ready to defend Israel no matter what happened, because they see Israel as an ally and the only way to keep Iran down and pocket the Middle East.

Russia will defend Belarus and Ukraine no matter what they do to the world because they see them as the only brothers since the fall of the Soviet union that has kept their stance in supporting Russia. Whatever is happening in Ukraine at the moment is due to western infiltration, after the S.M.O Russia and Ukraine will get back to their old ways.

N.K is the apple of china eyes, an invasion of N.K is an invasion of china, this is why N.K is misbehaving, also they have Russia by their side.

What is happening in Yemen is like a distraction from what is going on in Netherlands.

What's going on in Netherlands biko.

I wonder what he expects and why he is aggrieved. With how Nigeria is, how Nigerians are and what we accept as norms in Nigeria, will you treat a Nigerian without bias?

It is only human to have a bias based on precedence, facts and what you know.
I will not feel comfortable carrying a herdsman on a bike for fear of being stabbed neither will I go for a prayer with Mama Basiratu's Alfa without a skull helmet.

It is common sense. If your last wife cheated on you, you will not allow your new wife have a male bestie; if you know what Nigerians do to countries that have given them the benefit of the doubt to visit, you will be the one advising other countries to use the strictest bottlenecks when processing intending Nigerian visitors.

He should do what I did before I got a second passport; if you can not wrap your passport with a foil or wrapping paper, keep quiet, enjoy the profiling and work at getting another passport.

Because when we tell Nigerians to be good because of the consequences of what they do on everyone, they'd say, nwanne kwechiri, no gree for anybody.

This foul mouthed fella! Keh way Nwanne?

People who use "there" for "their", "borrow" for "lend" and scream with their smelling mouths open that "Englush no be my papa language" cannot be described as proficient speakers of the English language.

Baba no mind this people. English we speak and learn in school is quite different from what is spoken here and used in learning. When I came to UK I realised that either the British taught us rubbish or as information over time whether formal or informal lose its form and or to an extent value as it gets handed down from generation to generation. Another I am speculating and I have everything to believe given situation of things surrounding us is that we were taught and we refused to learn. That IELTS is a snippets to how English is used here and honestly I do not want them to write it off.

If Russia had flooded Ukraine with at least 50% of their forces (~600k forces), Ukraine would've fallen and Zelebobo run away with his tail between his legs in an exile befire NATO comes in.

But all the same, Russia did exceedingly well holding off the NATO-supplied kiev regime. No other Nation on earth except US can achieve that and not implode under extreme pressure for 2 years now. By now individual states in NATO would know what is means to be unnecessarily hostile against Russia.

When discussing economic problems, what I have majorly come across is the burden placed on the government.

First time I'm reading a book that shifts the burden to the masses.

Notwithstanding, every analysis is based on a particular angle which leads to the same end: economic prosperity.

The government still has many functions to display. Policies, legislation, and oversight from their angle will go a long way in manifesting growth and development.

The unfortunate aspect of African politics and economy is that there is already an established template for growth and sustainability, yet we are all looking the wrong way and proudly walking on the wrong path.

That's why I always project that light will dawn on Africa maybe 100 - 1000 years from now. But as for the moment, we're still confused as a people, nation, and continent. Which will make progress be accomplished at a snail-paced.

Before that time, it's left for each individual to lift themselves from their shackles. Either through tough work and/or cooperation. Because help is far from the African continent.

Sigh.

IbeOkehie and Ednut1, are also good with their posts. Very realistic + they have the experience inside their bags.

Kudos, man.

Thanks.

If you are worried about the sexual content on romance section, that makes you very prudish.

I am not even active in this section, but you are a prudish person judging from your posts and numerous monikers; blessedchen and mercychen. I don't care if you kiss anyone, but no prude should moderate a section where sexual contents are the norm. It is akin to making a reverend father the head of a nightclub. In fact, judging from your posts, you are not even qualified to moderate the Family section let alone the Romance section where hormones run rife.

Whilst the section needs someone to clamp down on the anti-women posts and threads, a prude should not head this section. You are a prude and overly sanctimonious person.

Total bunkum! Who the fvck are you that I should not mention?! Is Nairaland your papa house?

The fact she's ignorant of the meaning of prudish from the argument above disqualified her. Case closed.

⚡Britain intends to become the first European country to produce an advanced uranium fuel that is currently commercially available only from Russia, the government announced Sunday.

The UK government said it would invest £300 million ($382 million) building a high-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU) programme that would help “displace” Moscow from global energy markets.

“We stood up to (Vladimir) Putin on oil and gas and financial markets. We won’t let him hold us to ransom on nuclear fuel,” energy secretary Claire Coutinho said in a statement.

“This will be critical for energy security at home and abroad and builds on Britain’s historic competitive advantages,” she added.

HALEU fuel is needed to power many of the next generation of advanced nuclear reactors, including so-called small modular versions that the UK intends to use.

So Russia is not a European country bah?

If you have skills, leaving a 400k job in Nigeria to get even a minimum wage job that will give you legal residence in 1st world nation is always a wise decision and far better than earning even 1.5m in today's Naija economy. I earned more than 700k working in a multinational before I left Nigeria in 2019. It was the best decision I made for myself and my family. Please do the same if you have the opportunity. Does this hastens the process to ILR? If it does, by how much? I thought the UK is pretty straightforward and has one path - spend at least five abi six years then get ILR? Wouldn't the costs balloon as a parent applying for ILR?

Nah. It is an achievement. They said it brings blessings. But I wonder why the country too poor if such was true.

Being on the parent visa will not hasting the process up, rather you are 100% sure getting to where you are going. I have my personal reasons for wanting that route, I am just asking myself if it's worth it.

The family share part of the blame. What were they thinking when they sold an asset to support his finances? Why did they keep mute when he was failing? I won't be surprised if they sponsored his wedding. Our people tend to prioritise nonsense.

Except you are married to a Brit who would love to have a child to assure herself you are staying put in the marriage, how does a child cement your stay in the UK? That is, what has it got to do with obtaining ILR? Even on the kids' aspect, there is a growing number of DINK couples and the Home Office should have come across immigrant couples who have such an arrangement.

If I have a child I could be on the parent visa.

The guy did not marry her yet. They're just dating. But yeah, the family encouraged his excesses. When I mean they're in perpetual penury, I mean they are absolutely poor. His parents has 6 kids, and he didn't think it wise to pull himself out of such situation before marrying let alone having kids. I wonder why he was telling he's got a family now. That's not an achievement at all, that's a mischief of life.
