Over the past few years, I have become a little empathetic to people who have similar reasons, provided they have only a child while working to improve their finances. Once it passes one, anything they see, let them take it like that.

Now the guy is not working as he has no business and no car to drive around. Tomorrow this folk will be blaming forces from his village. Mind you thr family bought a car for him from the sale of land, and the car is broken down beyond repair. He opened a shop a sell phone accessories, and that one packed up before his girlfriend gave birth for him.

I am in UK, working a permanent job, and on route to getting my ILR, I am still skeptical of having kids, I do want to have one to cement my stay here, but omo, I gats reason the whole thing.

America was involved in slave trade. The countries you mentioned had nothing to do with slave trading.

Twale! You have finished work. It has been a long time since I have seen anyone write so comprehensively about early reproduction without considering the state of the economy and non-adherence to contraceptives.

Well done! The major difference between how you explained it and how I would have explained is the choice of words. You are a calmer version of myself on a topic like this.

Your neigbour did himself very bad, ditto the woman. My crush in secondary school gisted me how she declined the advances of a man based in Canada because he mentioned she would have four kids as part of their union. If I marry someone like that, I might forgo vasectomy because I know what she can do. grin

The bold are pertinent aspects to note.

Thanks again.

I have a friend whom is the architect of his own problems today. This guy was riding bus on higher purchase, when it was near the time he would pay off the car, boom, they take the car from him simply because towards the end, he was not meeting up his quota. He would carry his girlfriend throughout the day whilst on round and she would occupy a seat making him lose money.

Last year I got a call from him telling me he's got a child now. I was angry and pissed at him. What was his excuse, he said, if you see a girl you like waiting to make the money would take time that a why he had to get her pregnant.... And that God will provide.

⚡North Korea is closely watching the performance and interception variables of its short-range ballistic missiles that it gave to Russia.

The data will likely allow them to make adjustments to current and future missile systems, especially as they continue to militarily gear towards a confrontation with South Korea.

North Korea gave Russia their KN-23 which closely resembles the Iskander-M SRBM. In return, it is expected that North Korea will get some sort of military assistance like surface-to-air missiles, aircraft, munition production equipment and/or other advanced technologies.

If Russia also gets Iranian ballistic missiles.. Iran will benefit from the data and military assistance.

Where are those saying that Russia is running out of weapons... Have you seen why Russia bought those weapons, they are doing a physical experiment for the producers and this is why weapons produced in Russia, Iran, and N. Korea is very deadly because it was tested in real timem

That Nuclear weapon this foolish North Korean leader, Iran and Russia are banking on, by the time they fire one and it refuses to detonate, their body will cool down, and then US and its allies will tear them into pieces, useless nations called North Korea and Russia making no positive impact on the world aside war mongering bullshyyts angry

Your darling America has been in war every year since her birth. What does that say about USA? Everywhere there is a foot print of USA there's war which makes me doubt if they actually went to the moon cause that's the only place they supposedly "went to" which has no war.

Keep banking on the nuclear weapon not detonating, Russia can never make that mistake. BTW, USA is the only country amongst all them that have used nuclear weapon in war where it was not really needed. Rain check buddy, rain check.

⚡Joint statement from U.S., Australia, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, and the U.K. warn Yemen’s Houthis.

“Let our message now be clear: we call for the immediate end of these illegal attacks and release of unlawfully detained vessels and crews.

The Houthis will bear the responsibility of the consequences should they continue to threaten lives, the global economy, and free flow of commerce in the region's critical waterways.

We remain committed to the international rules-based order and are determined to hold malign actors accountable for unlawful seizures and attacks.”

This is getting interesting.

In UK, at work place, Christmas was celebrated, but outside they mounted a Christmas tree. As for new year, I've never been out to celebrate it or anything.

Here in Southend, they did 4 Saturdays of fireworks before Christmas and one on new day.

⚡Britain’s military is preparing to launch a wave of air strikes against the Iranian-backed Houthis creating chaos in the Red Sea, The Times reports.

Under the plans the UK would join with the US and possibly another European country to unleash a salvo of missiles against pre-planned targets, either in the sea or in Yemen itself, where the militants are based.

An unprecedented statement is expected to be released by the UK and the US in the coming hours which will warn the Houthis to “stop attacking commercial vessels” or “face the military might of the West.”

Just one missile and here they're behaving like kids. It would be interesting to see the F-16s being delivered to Ukraine. Considering where they would be taking off from to strike their Russian targets, the Russians would be in their legitimate right to target and destroy those takeoff points,. Which is being suggested to be in Poland or Romania.

I can't stop imagining how they all would be running like mad men once Russian unstoppable missiles starts knocking out the airports and airfields where those planes takes off from. It's then most of these emotionally charged kids here would know that Article 5 of NATO only exist on paper against third world nations. cool

Family / Re: My Mom Has Made Me Miserable! She Denied Me Happiness by Regex: 7:08pm On Dec 30, 2023
egobetter4me:
I know a lot of you will blame me after reading this and even want to curse me, but this is my sad story and I just want to put it out there for people to learn. Don't ever let your parents decide your partner for you. Even if you have to run away, do it.

I recently got married to an ugly, short, black, smelly, village girl. At first my uncle took me to see her, then we spoke and she came visiting. All these happened in the village.

When I went back to the city, I told my mom I wasn't interested in her any more, but she insisted I must marry her. My mom would always take my joy by telling me about the girl anytime she sees me happy. There was no breathing space. We live together and I pay the rent. I loved her so much that I could do anything for her. She once sold her wrappers/materials and jewelleries, to send me money for school fees.

Anytime she tries to talk to me about the girl, I will beg her and let her understand that young people like to marry who they truly love. I don't want her, I don't love her and I don't think I will ever will.
After all said and done, she still insisted, so I called my elder bro to come talk to her. He came in from another state and spoke with my mom for hours. She did as if she would allow me marry my choice, just for my brother to go. Immediately my brother left, she started again.

My mom has BP. She stopped using her medication and was ailing. she threatened that if she dies, that I killed her. I thought to myself, that if she truly dies, I might live with the regrets for the rest of my life. I really tried but I was defeated. I succumbed. But before marrying the girl, I spoke to her(the girl) that I don't love her and that I'm marrying her against my wish, but I guess she was desperate. She said I shouldn't worry, that the love would grow in the marriage.

We got married. She lives with me and my mom. Even my neighbours were disappointed in me, when they saw her. Church members and friends were all disappointed. I can't start narrating to them how I got here.

We are over a year gone now and she still irritates me. I so much hate to look at her. We've had sex only about 5 times or so and I have to get high to do this. I only kissed her once(at the alter and I cringed)

I cry everyday.....both at home and while hustling. I never envisaged my life to be like this. I had hoped to meet a beautiful, clean and well mannered graduate from the city. Someone I would truly love and she would love me too. I'd hoped that I would meet her, approach her and we start as friends, then lovers, then I would propose and all. I never planned for it to be like this.

I am so sad with my life. Right now, I'm thinking of applying for masters abroad and probably use the means to Japa and never come back again.

My life is so miserable!

Learn from me. Don't ever let your parents blackmail you into marrying someone you don't love. Pls don't. Just run away for months or few years and they will leave you alone.

First off, your mother is manipulative and you should move her out of your house. Secondly, it's not late to get out of thr marriage. It is not a do or die affair.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Male First Born: 30 Years Old, Unemployed And Living In Your Parents House by Regex: 9:48am On Dec 29, 2023
CaveAdullam:
This is a core feature and major problem of African youths.

It doesn't matter whether you are the first, second, or last child. The political and economic depravity hits at all ends, in all corners of Africa.

The tiny amount of youths that can stand tall presently either started life and business early - as a result of awareness of the future + solid preparation, or the presence of parents or relatives who acted or are acting as their guardian angels to a perfect life.

For the majority of African youths, we were not prepared for the future at all.
Then if you add the role religion played - that many were hopping from one religious space to another for a miraculous magic to change their lives for good. You can be able to trace where the problem originated.

Meanwhile, the problem has been a parasitic extractive government. A government that cares for only the bellies and pockets.

We do underestimate the importance of a good government. Perhaps the success of those who made it despite their drawbacks and predicaments made it seem that people can succeed without good governance in place.

Truth: it's the government of nations that brings prosperity to their people or citizens.

Regardless of your good work and skill, if there is an embargo laid by the government - unproductive policies, or if the government itself is that embargo - bribery and corruption there can be no successful nation.

It is the government, the rich, and businessmen that sponsor innovations and expeditions. The highest the poor can come up with is idea and labor. If the equation is unbalanced it favors the few elites at the top while the masses suffer in pain and poverty.

The reality is that Africa isn't structured to succeed.

You all should quit the boasting and hopes because of your solid minerals and fertile grounds.

You need machines, science and technology, intelligent men, and economic genius to harness these things and bring prosperity. Such is alien in Africa.

For Africa to succeed, it must first crash to the bottom completely. Then genius and good people start building.

The innovations and goodwill people have can't bud well in a dirty political and economic system in Africa.

South America was as bad as Africa, but check them today. They may not be there yet but they are gradually coming up.

Britain, France, Russia, China, Singapore, and Japan were once backward and depraved like Africa. But they had to first conquer the extractive forces behind their economy and politics. But such is absent in Africa.

Imagine in the 21st century still singing praises of corrupt and inefficient political leaders. We take sides with them and fight ourselves. Can't you see how backward we are as a people?

History is history for a reason. There's no new template. Observe and learn. You'll understand.

Africans as a people are not in any way ready for a change. We continue to run an archaic process while expecting a modern change. That's to tell you how rooted we are in ignorance and stupidity as a people.

It is chapfallen to see that young and intelligent men suffer daily in Africa because they are limited in finance and assistance. Many have lost their hopes. Many are still scratching and scavenging.

Many have now opened their eyes to fraudulent activities. This is a direct symptom of poor governance. The most corrupt nations will always have the highest crime rate.

You don't want to give up? Fine. Keep pushing. You may be lucky enough to see the light. Better try and fail than do nothing.

You don't give a fvck any longer? I understand. You have a point in your pessimism.

I don't see Africa getting close to the opening of the tunnel not to talk of the end of the tunnel between now and the next 100 - 1000 years. Anyways, in Africa, we have common roots in the supernatural. Perhaps, one is on its way to turning our continent into a prosperous one overnight.

The continent isn't structured for progress. It's a specimen.

Sigh.

How do I like this comment a million times?

The issue of religion is the one thing that is actually withholding Africa. Without religion, one would have discovered how horrible we are, but you would see a very horrible person console himself with being good because he goes to church and pays tithe. Religion is making us as a people preventing us from using our common sense. Imagine someone posted a prayer on Facebook; 'Because no one can explain how coconut has water in it no one will ever know your bearing' sort of. Looking at that post I could deduce ignorance and lack of capacity. We have surrendered everything to an imaginary being to a point we can not think for ourselves. This is very appalling!
