Sir at highlighted part. I didn't see the course I applied for and I was asked to take another course of which I optioned for combustion engineering and I thought it was related to my course (it wasn't). Even when I struggled with that course, I did excellently well in my English so Pls you can't judge base on that (abeg no disqualify me). Besides, before the exam, the flexiguy wrote on this forum that ONLY THE ENGLISH IS COMPULSORY AND WE CAN CHOSE ANY COURSE OF OUR CHOICE APART FROM THE ENGLISH. Thanks

If you were to write in the afternoon and you were duly informed that the course you chose during the application had about 15 missing questions, would you still go for it huh

I'm sure whatever penalty that was intended for those that chose courses other than the one they chose during the application process would be exonerated, because of the irregularities. There is absolutely no need to panic.

We understand your grievances but should we sacrifice Merit and give scholarship to undeserved scholars. We know there were irregularities in the test and more so some scholars chose to write discipline they didn't put in for due to information.

We deviced strategy for the best to be chosen. Additionally, we are working with top-notch schools for our LSS.

I posted about this earlier, computing the result based on top scorers per state alone. might not be feasible. going by the fact that some courses (I think chemical engineering) had about 15 missing questions. Trust the ptdf team found a way to resolve this issue.

For orientation to take place, the speakers, lecturers and experts have to be available hence part of the reason of the delay. During the orientation, we will help you apply for standard visa and flight will be booked for successful ones.

Because of our good reputation, visa outcome is usually ready within seven days after interview. Do not panic if you can't meet up nor do we advise anyone to pay to school for admission confirmation. Doing that is at your own risk. You can always defer your scholarship for up to a year.

I suspected the call at that time. But Flexisaf came on to say it was just for clarification. I won't be surprised too if those guys that were called end up being d successful candidates.

oga calm your nerves flexisaf made that call out of thier own discretion before handing over to ptdf. it's ptdf that does the shortlisting, let's just relax we're almost there.

I can say here that that the PTDF process for the merit list isn't transparent. Someone just told me his name is on the list and he has started preparation to travel. This information is very very true.

on what basis is this information true? take it or leave it lots of people from this thread would find their names on the list wether the process is flawed or not.

owing to the facts that some candidates had about 5 or more questions missing in their chosen subject, will computing the scores based on top scorers among states, be feasible? or will it be based on performance on a particular subject area, since its a relative issue. what do you guys think? cos one thing is clear, those missing questions would not be given as a bonus mark as it would affect other participants.

PTDF never releases the result of their OSS scholarship exam so quickly.They take time to analyse the results and select the candidates. Besides, the list is usually released along side the list of successful PhD candidates.

point is we might forfeit our admission if the deadline is missed.

ABUJA-The Petroleum Technology Development Fund, PTDF, has screened candidates who had earlier applied and qualified for the Fund’s scholarship programme nationwide.

The screening exercise which took place at various centers across the country simultaneously had students from various units of the oil and gas discipline.

The Executive Secretary of PTDF, Dr Bello Gusau who monitored the exercise in the Abuja and Kaduna Zones explained that the Fund was targeting 1,700 candidates at the Abuja centre and 4,500 nationwide.

In his words, the examinations took place simultaneously in all the centers, noting that the results would be communicated later, in order for candidates to learn of their fate as quickly as possible.

He said: “This exam is essentially for masters’ programme so they must all have a first degree and must be in the relevant field that is related to the oil and gas sector. These are the basic qualifications for writing this exam.

“In our selection we put the federal character into consideration; that is why we have other centers across the nation and the federal character commission is represented at this interview and all other centers in the country’’.

Gusau explained that the screening of scholars was for both overseas and local programmes as the fund has recently been working towards domesticating its capacity building programme.

His words: “Even though the fund is trying to phase out overseas scholarship, it is still on because you can’t just stop abruptly. There has to be some kind of periodic checks to frequently directing the figures from foreign universities to Nigerian universities.

“As you can see quite a number of the beneficiaries of PTDF capacity building programme are working in the oil and gas sector. A large number are also in the university system, like a kind of train the trainer programme whereby we equip the universities to handle more and more people who are interested in working and acquiring skills for the sector.

“ What we do essentially to improve the scholarship programme is to ensure that based on our own skills gap analysis, we understand where we have deficit in the oil and gas sector and we concentrate on those areas of deficit. As the sector is growing, new demands for skills are also growing, so we keep tracking and monitoring that and we tailor our capacity development programme to meet such demands.’’ he added.

In the same vein, the Federal Character Commission (FCC) expressed satisfaction with the enumeration process carried out by the Fund.

Commission representative and Chairman, Committee on Petroleum Resources, Mamman Alakayi, who monitored the exercise, said federal character compliance, would level playing ground for each candidate who has applied and to also allow all qualified candidates to participate.

“I was part of the short listing process and the federal character played a role from the onset. It is a rule of federal character that they should advertise and that was done; the advert is allowed to run for six weeks to give every interested candidate time to apply.

UPDATE ON PTDF AFTER TEST

Due to low oil price and economic crises, only few people will be admitted for overseas scholarship this year. If u choose Brasil and Germany schools with partnership with PTDF then this may be secured.

The exam is quite unfair so is life. However, there is still hope because selection though determined by your state, in case of discrepancies, the course chosen, O level and Female gender is still accounted for.

If it happens any of you get local scholarship, kindly choose IFP school, Shell Centre of Excellence Benin, OAU Centre of Excellence and private universities.

There school fees is over a million and u get quality education and conducive environment with no strike and lecturer problem. Do not choose to go to any regular schools. No real impact and differences between u and undergraduates.

Thanks Boss! Schools in Germany have given till August 15th to pay the semester fee, do you think induction would be before then?

Dear Kunbee,
FlexiSAF Sends at least 2 of its staffs to each center to coordinate the technical issues of the venue. Other members involved in screening and other activities are mostly members of the PTDF. We would definitely ensure that the result of the exam is as transparent as humanly possible.

Those English questions carry half mark each so guys that did well in their option have a better advantage.

My thoughts though. I could be wrong.
