President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the killing of innocent Nigerians in Birnin Magaji and Magami communities in Tsafe and Maradun local government areas of Zamfara, following attacks by suspected bandits.

The president made the condemnation in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu in Abuja on Monday.

According to the President, a major operation by the Nigerian Armed Forces, the Police, Department of State Services and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, is being considered to restore peace and stability to affected areas.

“These horrendous acts of violence are crimes against humanity. This violence must stop,” he said.

While expressing his deepest condolences to the families of those killed in the attacks, the government and people of Zamfara, the President also wished those injured a speedy recovery.

Buhari said he had authorised an assessment trip to Zamfara and Sokoto states by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Abubakar Sadiq, on Christmas and Boxing days.

He reassured residents of states plagued by bandits — Zamfara, Sokoto, Kaduna, Niger and Taraba, that their safety was an enduring commitment of his administration and he would continue to ensure that security agencies worked round the clock to protect local populations.

The President conveyed his support to the Nigeria Police Force, which had already deployed Special Forces in each of the local governments in Zamfara and the Defence Headquarters’ deployment of a Special Military Intervention Force comprising more than 1,000 personnel.

He said the security personnel, which were part of measures, among others, to respond to the security challenges in the North Central and North West, would be intensified to flush out the bandits from the affected areas.

The President commended Nigerians “for the support to our security agencies who have continued to demonstrate dedication, commitment and bravery even in very difficult and complex operations’’.

The Police Command in Zamfara had on Sunday confirmed that 17 people were killed in an attack on Magami village of Faru District in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara.

Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on Saturday assured that the Southwest that President Muhammadu Buhari will hand over government to a south-westerner, if the region supports him for next year’s elections.

Osinbajo, who engaged in house-to-house campaign in Oyo Alaafin and held 45-minute closed-door meeting with the Alaafin, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi said 2019 presidential election mattered to the Yoruba people of the Southwest because the region has a larger interest in 2023.


The VP, who earlier in Ibadan inaugurated Shared Facilities for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), financed by the Bank of Industry, declared that the project which is the maiden edition is Federal government project in collaboration with the Oyo state government.

The Shared Facilities is for fashion, style and shea butter producers who could not afford the cost of buying the equipments selling at millions of naira in the market.

The Director of Bank of Industry, Olukayode Pitan, lauded the project, saying Shared Facilities would operate as one of the National MSMEs Clinics and adopt a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model to guarantee success and sustainability.

A nine-year old pupil, Aisha AbdulAleem has dragged the Ogun State government and the Principal of her school, Gateway Junior Secondary School, Mrs. Kushimo before Ogun State High Court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, for allegedly violating her fundamental human right to use Hijab in the school.


AbdulAleem, through her father, Mr. Muhammad AbdulAleem dragged the school principal to the court for alleged forceful removal of her Hijab and denial of access to attend classes in the school.

Other defendants who were summoned by the court to defend the allegations are the Ogun State Government, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, and her counterpart in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.


AbdulAleem in the originating summon filed by her counsel, Olusoji Odutan, seeks the relief of the court to declare as wrongful and unconstitutional the action of the principal to deny her access to education on account of directive of the state government for non-usage of Hijab in public schools in the state.

Odutan said that the refusal of the defendant to allow her client to use her Hijab, violates her rights to “freedom of thought, conscience and religion, freedom from discrimination and right to the dignity of the human persons and right to education”.

The claimant in the suit number AB/5271/2018 also seeks for an order of perpetual injunction restraining the state government and its officers from further infringing on her fundamental human right to use Hijab.


Odutan said, “A sum of one million naira in damages against the defendants jointly and severally for the anguish, inhuman treatment, harassment and hardship suffered by the claimant as a result of the defendants’ action”.

The case, which was mentioned for hearing for the second time on Friday before Justice Bamgbose Alabi of court 9, was adjourned till 8th January, 2018, after the lawyer to the defendants served counter affidavit to the plaintiff.

Odutan prayed the court to award the sum of N50,000 against the defendant for serving counter affidavit on him on the day of the hearing of the case, as it will take time for him to study and respond appropriately.

Counsel to the defendants, Sodipo T.M explained that the delay was not due to lack of respect for the court and desire to delay the case but that it took time to get her clients’ responses and brief.

The claimant’s father said that his daughter was denied access to the classroom at St. Peters’ College, Olomore with the principal relying on a supposed Memorandum of Understanding between the Christian Missionaries and the State Government that the students of the school would not be allowed to use hijab.

He said, on the recommendations of the principal and Zonal Education officer, Aisha was taken to Gateway Junior Secondary school for enrolment, but only to be denied access to the classroom after completing all registration formalities.

In the affidavit deposed at the court by Aisha’s father, Mr AbdulAleem Muhammad, he said, “The problem, however, started when the claimant was refused access into her classroom by her class teacher because she was wearing her Hijab.

“That upon the claimant being sent home from school by her class teacher (one Mr Shoremi E.O), I went to meet the principal of the school on Monday the 24th day of September, 2018 to ascertain what was happening. That it was during this meeting that the principal informed me that the laws establishing the school do not allow or permit Muslim students to wear hijab to school”.

Mr. AbdulAleem said, “Just like other children, Aisha sat for school entrance examination and was offered admission into secondary school. She was welcomed with hatred, malice and denial claiming that she could not wear hijab in public school. The vice principal who was the most senior officer in the school admitted her and fixed into JSS 1A but the class teacher declined, denied, refused and compel her to remove hijab before she can be admitted into her class.

“The little girl was trying to explain to her that her father has seen the VP on this issue when another female teacher came from behind to jerk the hijab off her head. This led me to seek counselling from legal practitioners and informed the Commissioner for Education at the ninth week that I have been moved to the wall”.

Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Modupe Mojuta, who confirmed the development to press, said that the state ministry of justice was responding to the matter.

Mojuta in an SMS sent to press on Saturday morning said, “The Hijab case of a JSS 1 girl at Gateway Secondary School had its first hearing in the court yesterday. The ministry of justice is responding accordingly”.

Sultan Anifowose, the son of veteran Fuji musician, Kwam 1, has been arrested in the U.S along with 8 others as part of an international investigation into online “romance scams” and “mystery shopper” schemes that made victims lose at least $2 million over the past two years.

Seven Chicago-area residents are among nine individuals arrested in the United States and Nigeria as part of an international investigation into online “romance scams” and “mystery shopper” schemes.

During the Chicago-based investigation, dubbed “Operation Gold Phish,” law enforcement identified a variety of cyber-enabled fraud schemes allegedly carried out by conspirators in the U.S. and Nigeria. One of the alleged schemes involved “romance scams,” in which a conspirator builds trust with a victim through a purported online romance before convincing the victim to send money to a predetermined recipient. The conspirators initially contacted victims online via applications and websites, including Match.com, Facebook, and Instagram, the complaint states. Another alleged cyber-enabled fraud involved a “mystery shopper” scheme, in which conspirators fraudulently offered victims opportunities to work as a mystery shopper and receive commissions for evaluating retailers. The victim received a check through the U.S. mail with instructions to deposit it in a personal bank account, withdraw the money in cash, and wire it to a third party. The check turned out to be fake, and the victims were defrauded of the wired money, the charges allege.

A criminal complaint filed Dec. 4, 2018, in U.S. District Court in Chicago charged nine defendants with conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Arrests were recently carried out in Illinois, Texas, and Nigeria, and all of the defendants are now in law enforcement custody. The Nigerian Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is conducting a related investigation of other individuals in Nigeria.

The U.S. charges were announced by John R. Lausch, Jr., United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois; Jeffrey S. Sallet, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation; and Craig Goldberg, Inspector-in-Charge of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service in Chicago. Valuable assistance was provided by the Nigerian Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Peter S. Salib and Charles W. Mulaney represent the government.

Arrested in Texas was ADEWALE ANTHONY ADEWUMI, 27, of Richardson, Texas. Arrested in Nigeria was OLANIYI ADELEYE OGUNGBAIYE, also known as “DonChiChi,” 26, of Lagos, Nigeria.

In addition to the romance and mystery shopper schemes, the complaint accuses the conspirators of engaging in various other cyber-enabled scams, including investment and employment frauds. The conspirators also defrauded victims by targeting corporate email accounts, the complaint states. In the email scam, known as a business email compromise, the conspirators fraudulently obtained usernames and passwords or sent “spoofing” email messages that claimed to be from a company employee, instructing the victim to change the wire instructions for bank payments. Per the instructions given in the fraudulent emails, the victims unknowingly wired funds to bank accounts controlled by the conspirators that had been opened in fictitious names utilizing fake passports, the complaint states.

The charge in the complaint carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. If convicted, the Court must impose reasonable sentences under federal sentencing statutes and the advisory U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.

The public is reminded that charges contain only accusations and are not evidence of guilt. The defendants are presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial at which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

The Nigerian Union South Africa (NUSA) has announced the tragic demise of Mr Udebuani Chidokweanaukwu, who drowned in that country.

Chidokweanaukwu, a native of Nando in Anambra State, drowned in a beach in Swellendam near Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa.

The Publicity Secretary of the Union, Mr Habib Miller, confirmed the accident in a statement issued to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.

“With sorrow and heavy heart, we have received the news of the death of Udebuani Chidokweanaukwu from Nando, Anambra State.

“According to the information from an eye witness, Chidikweanaukwu got drowned on the beach at Swellendam on Dec. 17.

“He is survived by his wife and children. NUSA sympathises with his family and friends at this difficult time of grief and pray God comfort them,” he said.

Miller urged members to be cautious as well as obey safety rules when visiting the beach and other hazardous places.

The Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday says it has uncovered a factory where assorted fake wine and fruit juice were produced at Aboru area of Oke-Odo, Lagos.

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Imohimin Edgal, told newsmen, when he visited the factory that the 48-year-old owner of the factory has been arrested.

A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria, who was on the commissioner of police entourage, observed that various assorted wine, fruit juice and empty bottles were recovered from the uncompleted one-storey building which doubles as factory and owner’s residence.

Edgal said that apart from wine products, several chemicals and reagent used for the manufacturing of the products were also recovered by the police.


He said samples of products recovered from the factory would be sent to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control for laboratory analysis.

Edgal said that the house had been sealed until the end of the investigation.

“This matter is an interesting case because it has to do with the health of Lagosians.

“On December 18, 2018, around 2pm, the command received credible information that there exist a fake wine/ brewery in an uncompleted one-storey building at Aboru area of Oke Odo, Lagos, where assorted wine and alcoholic beverages were being produced.

“Based on the information, I directed the Area Commander, Area P, Alagbado, to mobilise to the scene, search and seal off the factory.

“When the team arrived the scene, they executed a search warrant which enabled them to search and recover the following items: 4000 bottles of already produced, packed and labelled adulterated wine of different brands.


“10000 empty bottles, drums of different sizes and various chemicals and reagents used as raw materials and other tools used in the production of fake wine/ fruit drink,” he said

Edgal said further investigation revealed that the suspect, a secondary school dropout, had neither the requisite qualification nor licence to embark on such type of business.

He said that incidentally, the factory served as both production base and residence for the suspect, his wife and four children.

The suspect, in his defence, said he was still awaiting approval from NAFDAC to commence commercial production of the drinks.


He also denied that the drinks were fake, insisting that he produced them basically with local fruits.

“I am a creative minded person and all l do here is the production of fruit-based drinks. I have not started selling because I am yet to get approval from NAFDAC,” he said.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has blamed the Peoples Democratic Party for Nigeria’s weak economy.

The Vice-President said this at the Vice-Presidential debate organised by the Broadcast Organisation of Nigeria and the Nigeria Elections Debate Group.

He was asked to respond to questions on why Nigeria’s aggregate investment had not risen beyond 16 per cent in the last 10 years unlike South Africa and China.

Osinbajo said, “I think the common denominator between the two countries you mentioned is the strong infrastructure. Our nation in the past 16 years has suffered a major infrastructure deficit. So, we don’t have rails, roads. When we came into power in 2015, power was 4,000MW in 16 years.

“So, you need strong infrastructure. No one can argue about it. The second thing is you cannot have a strong economy if you allow the type of grand corruption that has taken place in Nigeria in the last 16 years.”

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has highlighted reasons President Muhammadu Buhari may be dead and replaced with one Jubril of Sudan.


The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu had continued to insinuate that Buhari was fake.

Buhari, while in Poland recently dismissed Kanu’s claim, describing it as fake.


Kanu, however, released ‘six scientific evidence’ yesterday to prove that the current Nigerian President was not the real Buhari.

Reacting to the saga, Omokri said the recent lamentation by the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari that two persons were frustrating the current government could be an indication that the current Nigeria’s President was fake.

In a tweet, the former presidential aide wondered if Buhari could still praise the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje after being indicted for corruption.


He wrote:

“I doubted this Jubril from Sudan story, but after @aishambuhari said two men control her husband, I started to think.

“Would the old @MBuhari go to Paris to praise crooked Kano @GovUmarGanduje and return to Nigeria to freeze honest Peter Obi’s account? This doesn’t seem like Buhari!”

Following the attack by Boko Haram militants on Rann, the capital of Kala Balge local government area of Borno state, in the northeast Nigeria, the United Nations agency, UNICEF, whose clinic was affected by the attack, says that all its staff are safe.


UNICEF’s response comes a day after an attack on the hospital by suspected Boko Haram terrorists on Friday night.

The attack affected other government-owned buildings even as federal forces engaged the intruders in a gunfight.


UNICEF Nigeria’s communication specialist, Kusali Kubwalo told journalists in Maiduguri that all staff have been marked safe.

The casualty figure for those affected is yet to be determined, as the affected population that fled while the attack lasted are still returning.

The Northeast Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency, Bashir Garga, also disclosed that details about the present situation in Rann are still sketchy, and it’s still not clear how many lives were lost.


The recent attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists is not the first in Rann. In March 11, Boko Haram terrorists launched an attack in Rann, killing scores of people and abducting three female aid workers.

While two of the aid workers have been executed, the third woman, Alice Ngadda, a UNICEF staff abducted from that same hospital has remained in captivity.

The All Progressives Congress has said what the Peoples Democratic Party owes Nigerians are apologies for its “16 years of misrule,” and not campaign.

The ruling party said it was “an affront on the electorate” for PDP leaders to embark on campaign at zonal rallies “after leaving the country in a mess just three and half years ago.”

The APC National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu, said this during an interaction with journalists on Sunday in Abuja.

He said,

“What we expect the PDP to do in this rally is to go to the zones and apologise profusely, demonstrate remorse, which they have failed to do. And they keep going to those zones for rally to insult people.

“When we go out for campaign, we will be doing two things because this campaign for APC is about two issues.

“We are going to bring character into focus. And for the candidates of the PDP, we won’t go too far stressing the need to review who you are but the person you work with.

“We will also examine the personality of the presidential candidates, especially President Muhammadu Buhari and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of PDP, as well as the numerous achievements of the current administration in the last few years.”

When asked why the APC had yet to raise the National Campaign Council, Onilu said, “Well, we don’t have any problem at all and we are very okay because campaign, as you may know, is just one aspect of it.

“There are many other platforms to engage with the people. Rally, is just one.”


“He (Obasanjo) told us he found him to be very unreliable person, somebody that is not trustworthy, that he found him to be somebody who compromises the system for personal gain.

“And we have evidence to that and we must bring that to focus. And we must continue to thank President Obasanjo for being so patriotic to have alerted the country to the dangers.

“The second leg of our campaign will be stewardship. We have been in government for three and a half years. We are going to give report of our stewardship.


“Every kilometer of road that we have done is a reminder to the systemic years of waste under the previous governments.

“Every rail track that we have laid is a reminder to the systemic wastefulness of PDP.

“The continuous increase in enrollment of pupils across the nation and the school feeding programme. It is a reminder to the 13.5 million pupils who were out of school under PDP.


“So, the campaign will be about stewardship and what we have used the three and a half years to do.

“All the abandoned projects that we have fixed. Check our Gross Domestic Product, it is no longer a mono product economy. It is now an economy that you have contribution from agriculture and solid minerals making solid impact on our GDP. That is diversification.


“A lot of Nigerians would travel this December for Christmas and the New Year. They would see the progress we have made on the roads that were nightmares for travellers under the PDP government and they would continue to see improvement.”

Leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has commended General Overseer of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, aka Winners’ Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo over his statement on President Muhammadu Buhari being dead and replaced as ‘Jubril of Sudan’


Report recalls that Oyedepo last week Sunday urged his congregation to pray to God to deliver Nigeria from slavery, shame, and reproach as the report of Buhari being dead replaced as Jubril Sudan was disturbing.

But, reacting, the Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Digital and New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi described The cleric as a ‘hater of Buhari,’ questioning why the cleric would go to a far length to discredit Buhari.


However, Oyedepo, speaking again on Saturday in reaction to the Presidency vowed not to withdraw his statement because it was not a hate speech.

Also reacting to Oyedepo’s statement, Kanu in a live broadcast on Saturday said the pastor’s reaction was an example of how religious leaders should react to ‘Buhari replaced as Jubril’ which he described as an abomination.

The Biafran leader, however, blasted the General Overseer of the Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Suleman and General Overseers of mega churches who did not foresee the replacement of Buhari as Jubril, yet claim to be led by God.


According to him:

“Jubril is a real fellow impersonating dead Buhari, who cannot speak Fulani language like the real Buhari.

“Nothing your pastors say come to pass, was it not Apostle Suleman that said I would be disgraced locally and internationally but now I’m not, it was the devil that spoke to him not elohim.. instead of him to say Nnamdi Kanu will bring to the fore news that will expose some people. I do not expect more from him because he is a Northerner, so he wants to preserve one Nigeria.

“I commend Oyedepo because he has woken up and I give him credit for that, he spoke passionately about Jubril. That was how I expect every leader to react because this is an abomination before man and heaven and earth

“All of you that attend mega churches, those that claim Daddy G.O sees into the future, ask ur G.O how come they never forsaw Jubril of Sudan.

“This Jubril saga has showed that none of your Daddy G.O is a child of living Elohim, they are all blind in the spiritual realm. But I believe at the end of the year some of them will come up with fake unfulfillable prophecies and Nigerians will sow seed and tie into it but nothing will come out of it.

“We have looked at the so-called men of God that claim they know it all and capable of providing viable leadership as they have all failed Nigerians. Find out from them why they have failed.

“A particular prophet in Enugu is so blind that he does no know Buhari is dead, he prayed for Buhari that Nnamdi Kanu will not do anything to you.

“They love going to him because I no longer give him money but this Jubril saga has destroyed him, he is now a hungry and poor man. His prayers for jubril shows how sad his life has become.

“Some of your pastors still go and visit Jubril and pray for him, but that’s what hunger can do to someone.”

Former president Goodluck Jonathan has appealed to Nigerians to vote for PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 election as he is the only one that can guarantee three square meals for everyone.

The former president made the appeal when he spoke at the flag-off of the 2019 presidential election campaign by the PDP in Sokoto state today December 3rd.

“We have seen four presidents, from Obasanjo to our late brother, Yar’Adua, to myself, and to the current president. You have seen how the various presidents and the various parties have worked, and one thing that is very clear is that PDP is still the number one party. There is something that all of us need as human beings, everybody eats, everybody, every day must eat, and if you cannot eat well, then you are not happy. PDP is the only party that can make sure all of us eat very well, in the morning, in the afternoon, and in the evening.

Let us not make any mistakes, those of us that are adults, old enough to vote, if we vote wrongly, our children and grandchildren will not forgive us. Today, our country has a lot of challenges; look at all the presidential candidates, all of them are good people, but among all, we have seen that it is only Atiku that can deliver'' he said

Speaking further, he said

“If you have a soccer match, you go with your best 11, you don’t manage, if you have a wrestling or a boxing tournament, you go with your best, you don’t manage. Atiku is experienced enough. He has demonstrated clearly from his personal life and his business life that he has that capacity to bring this country to one, and make our economy grow, so that all of us will have food to eat''.

The occupants of a tricycle are currently being treated at the Federal Medical Center Asaba after a police van rammed into them this morning.



Activist, Prince Harrison Gwamnishu, who shared the story online, said the officers who are operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad (SAKS) of the Nigerian Police Force, Delta State Command, were pursuing a Toyota Camry car they thought was owned by Yahoo Yahoo boys when they rammed into the tricycle. Gwamnishu on facebook page wrote

''Some operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad (SAKS) of the Nigerian Police Force, Delta State Command were today ridiculed after they allegedly caused an accident within GT Bank Asaba while chasing a Toyota Camry car they mistook for YAHOO YAHOO.


The tricycle rider and the four passengers are currently admitted at Federal Medical Center Asaba receiving treatment. A concerned Nigerian reach out to Behind Bars Rights Defenders and we are on ground to make sure the injured passengers are treated.

The officers are here and they are taking care of the bills.

I advised policemen on street duty to be professional, courteous, shun corrupt practices, be well-behaved, be attentive and know that they are constantly being observed by members of the public.
