caselessogbuagu: You can't just trust them! You call a fellow igbo man stranger, but you want to monopolize lagos and go as far as tagging it a 'no man's land'. haba, lagooners! You did not understand the OP and it seems you've been wanting to get something off your chest for a while, right? That's ok., I understand you don't like it that Lagos is now no man's land, but that is the reality, even if we stop calling it no man's land, it will not change it from being what it is - a cosmopolitan city made of several tribes and nationalities, also known as, Lagos - Center of Excellence and No Man's Land. This group is actually saying something along the lines that he should return to Abuja or Lagos or the part of Nigeria he has been domicile for all these years and probably contest there because - he .... just ... returned to Abia recently. Since you can't even understand the reason behind Lagos being no man's land, you probably won't get the OP or my explanation anyways sso kam ripu! |

BiafranPrince: One thing about Aba indigenes is this, speaking from experience and being son of the soil.
Forget all the noise and displeasure, 80% of these people all went to their respective hometowns and states to register and vote.
Even before the use of voters card, during election, everyone troops home to their state, when they vote their leaders and come back and couldn't do anything here, we are left with bad people at the helm, then when shit hits the fan, everyone starts crying and cursing. Night before election, there was heavy movement out if city of Aba, and these are people who make up half of the city. They all went home to vote, and on election day, virtually the whole city was empty., and of cus you are left with little number of electorates to pursue electing good leaders, Sunday they are back, and the same people will start making noise everywhere. Either Okezie or Otti we are good. One thing is sure, anyone born in Aba doesn't joke with it. That's why we have the belief that Aba will be rebuilt with Okezie at the helm, and once Aba regains it's lost glory, Abia regains it's rightful place. Make Aba what it ought to be and everything will fall into place for u. Tis been a while that I'd been trying to say the same thing to the poster you replied, as well as a particular poster that goes by Asha80, as well as others too... that all the negative news about Abia does not represent, even slightly, what is going on in the state. That Aba was not milked as a cash cow does not mean the governor did nothing either during his 2 terms in office. They usually go from saying he did absolutely "nothing" to criticizing the works that I manage to find online for them, saying its low standard blah blah blah. A state that had no government house is right, the capital, Umuahia, being more of an administrative town than a commercial location, will lack efficiency and effectiveness without the infrastructure and utilities for performing their functions. Would a sellfish governor build a government house that he will vacate after his tenure is finished? or the state broadcasting station, BCA that now has a befitting complex, etc etc.... are all acts of altruism that Orji Uzor Kalu did. No one can point today something Orji Uzor did that still stands today he isn't in office. Yet it was The Sun that championed all the false and negative news about Abia being the worst state etc.... What T. A accomplished in helath is worth mentioning, and the rewards he received attest to that.... I could go on and on... butin any case, i'll drop it here. I believe Okezie is a well qualified man and never doubted him from when I heard him speak of his plan for Aba, Oti also convinced me. However, it was out of fairness that I decided to root and hope Okezie wins. The Ngwa/Ukwa-ngwa has never produced the governor since the creation of abia state. however, if his case was like that of Buhari, where on the grounds of fairness to the north to have back their Yar'adua truncated tenure, they present someone that should be retired or is not not well "qualified" (in my own view) for the job of governor... I wouldn't have supported him. I believe Okezie has what it takes. I believe can change Abia state... beginning from the historic town of Aba. Oti can wait. 8 years will go quickly, 4, if Okezie fails in his mandate... when it comes back to Abia north senatorial distric, the Aros or other "villages" can come out with Oti or whomever. If things change and they decide its Oti that won? I won't feel bad because I believe he is also capable. The way I see it? It is a win-win for Abians. Thos ewhom has bought orji Uzor Kalu's antagonistic reports agaist T.A. Orji will definitely not think so.. but who cares? Okezie, I am sure, will deliver. wil be shocked if he doesn't... but my prayers are for him to go far and beyond our expectations.... while OUK can go and ... (do the needful. lol. N.B. Dissociating himself from O.U. Kalu is the best thing T.A. did. Transfering money meant for teachers' salaries etc being hijacked and paid to OU Kalu as repayment for campaigning expenses while T.A. Orji was incarcerated is/was the most ridiculous and outrageous thing to befall Abia state - God's own state, God's own people. |

Is there a place really called "umuekwe(n)su"? lol Did his (Ikpeazu's) people really want him? I felt they did, but I learnt the man has no house in his village all these years as they know he's been looting with T.A. Orji.... whether its tue or not I don't know, but its one of those news/rumours going around.... (from/in Umuahia shaa). BiafranPrince: Believe me when I say it may be.
Obingwa is the largest L.G.A in Abia, and has a good amount of its terrority in developed sections of Aba City.
Coupled with the fact that Okezie is from Ohuru Umuekwesu in Ahiaba kingdom, they all might have come out to vote their son.
Osisioma too is peculiar, 70% of the L.G.A is part of Aba city too, the urban areas and being core Ngwa territory, they might feel like going with their brother.
All in all, I feel like figures were inflated esp Obingwa L.G.A
Though Obingwa has huge population too.
Another thing to consider too is this, Urban areas like Aba North and South and State capital are more of people from other states, who traveled back to their own state to cast their votes. Obingwa is more of the indigenous people than other neighbouring L.G.As. |

It is no news that the SW voted Buhari because of his VP, a Yoruba. In the scenario that come 2019, a young and vibrant northerner is elected on PDP's platform, with an Igbo vice.... That will be a close one... or maybe not, I dunnoo... however, what I do know for sure is that... the presidency can NOT go to the Yorubas before the Igbos... it will not happen. To state the fact clearly: Lagos is no man's land - all Nigerians are free to come to Lagos, and once they stay there long enough, they become lagosians. The same transit system, social amenities, market, schools etc is for all Lagos. This is for the record. |

And let me say this before I move on to something better... the Oba didn't sound hostile to me, but his word portrays his heart and shouldn't an Oba be neutral politically? or at least "pretend" to be? |
Politics › Re: ‘enough Of Igbo Disruption In Lagos’ - Yorubas Outside Nigeria Speak by Remarkable: 2:33pm On Apr 11, 2015 |
Emdeejay: This tribal rift has to stop. The words of the Oba was total nonsense and he needs to apologize to the ibo residents of Lagos state. You should never make anyone feel unsafe especially if you're public figure whose words has heavier weight than the common citizen. That being said, the manner at which the leaders of ibos addressed the issue by calling the oba names was also wrong. They should maybe have taken the higher road like jega did to orubebe. Two wrongs don't make a right. To my fellow constituents, neither Yoruba nor bio needs to be grateful to each other. The Igbo man came to Lagos for greener pasture, while Lagos benefited from the business oriented igbos. No one is ungrateful, both benefited from this synergistic relationship. When the word of the oba first hit the net, a lot of the Yoruba condemned it and agreed that the statement was indeed foolish but many became defensive when the Igbo brethren began to call Yoruba, betrayer. Some even quote history and states that Yorubas had always been betrayer while igbos had always thought they were superior. Were you present during these period in nigeria? If not, please refrain from talking about it. Account of an event would be different depending on who is telling the story and on what side you're standing. One thing that I hope we should all agree on is that we hope that particular history does not repeat itself because the people that would suffer its consequences are the civilians and not the leaders of the people that started the dispute. Another notion that I saw was the fact that Lagos belongs to the Yorubas. Yes and no. The first settlers of Lagos were Yoruba, therefore it was claimed as part of their territory, which was the same thing that happened throughout nigeria. But it became available to other tribes as well when it became the capital. The problem of Lagos ownership is as a result of a failed nigeria. In the USA, a Maryland resident cannot vote in Virginia governorship race. After living in a particular state for a while you can choose to change your state residency. So a new Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa man in Lagos should not be able to vote for any governor. You haven't contributed much to the society to have a say. Anyway, I hope this would stop as I have Yoruba and Igbo friends. God bless Nigerians Not all Yorubas condemned the Oba... and some went further to call Igbos names. What most Igbos said was that they were now going to vote for Jimi; if you saw the Oba being called names, that might have been later than I saw anyways. however, the truth is, that you can't intimidate an Igbo man just like that; if he retorts back to you "mba a na-abara agu" ... if pretty much saying that you can not shoo away a lion the way you shoo away a chicken or we often say "Hua" to the hawk to drop the little chick it swooped down on... before i digress... and in conclusion, Igbos are peace loving. We mean noharm. We don't steal land, we buy the land with the weat off our borws.... so when you hear Igbos saying its no man's land etc... its not that they do not know who the first migrants to Lagos were, but I am sure o f this - it has always been in response to an act, whether perceived or actual, of aggression towards them. You will not be minding your business in Lagos and out of no where an Igbo will come and be yelling in your face that lagos is no man's land. We have better things to do. Isnt time, money? |

Lagos was made the capital because it had all the potential to be the center of excellence in nigeria. such potential av neva been found in any igbo land even in modern days.
