^^^^ I know, location, location location, but somehow I think the prices in that area are over bloated. Properties there have become more expensive that US or where else do you pay more than $500,000 for 4 BR duplex and still provide your own water and electricity? No2Atheism:Red brick is very lovely sight, a visit to Obasanjo's Bells Schools Ota would endear one to its use. The whole school is built with them. |
Methink Sanusi is doing a great job, sentiments apart. This week those failing banks declared losses up to N1.5trillion and more are still coming. The prices are crashing but that gives opportunity for those of us that bought Oceanic at N27 to buy at N1 or even 50k and average down Naira cost per share, it is mixed situation but it is better to know the real situation of things than the falsehood that reigned in the market in the past. Bumper could be in the way next year if the losses provided for are recovered and the bank become more prudent in their business practices. |
Good topic, but why do we have to buy bungalows for N20 - 25m and duplex for up to N70m in Lekki Ajah axis? Some are even with simple finishes, you have to spend another N3 - N5m to bring them to taste. |
Harry Awurumibe - a sport journalist was on TV Continental this morning, he is threathing to go all the way to make GTB refund some cash about N233,000 fraudulently withdrawn from his account at a Stanbic IBTC ATM in Ibadan, while he lives in Lagos. I suggest more people should start going his way, that way we would get these Banks to wake up to their responsibilities. |
I think Southerners are suffering from serious "Afghanistanism", a condition where one refused to deal with local source of problem and believe all his problems are caused by far, foreign and remote people. If the Southern leaders are so weak and could not influence anything and not responsible for anything good or bad, why not remove all of them and hire the "all powerful" Northerners to represent the South also. lol. |

Hear this. At Osun State University, Osogbo, the VC wanted to show off with Gov Oyinlola present. He asked the students by shouting, Which is the best University in Nigeria? They all answered, Osun State Universityyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!! He then proceeded to ask again shouting, Who is the best Governor in Nigeria, The students responded will louder chorus, FASOLAAAAAA!!!!!!! to the surprise of the VC and the bewilderment of the Governor. |

I don't think this is a prediction as such. When it comes to PDP, we all know why nomination is a "do or die" affair. How many PDP politicians at any level can proudly say "I won". |
Yes, oil companies pay well, but that is not the ultimate, the total population of oil workers in Nigeria is not up 100,000 maybe 70,000 at most, we all know there more than 100,000 Nigerian that are leaving very well!. What is important how you handle your income. Oil workers are the among worst in that aspect. Have you asked the question, "how many oil workers own houses in choice places in Nigeria? |

vislabraye:Leave them, they know that shares are manipulated, in fact from the posts of Naijaking1, he enjoyed the so called "good old days" when share values are manipulated and companies who do nothing gained maximum points everyday. He must have made kills during the period so they are sad things are getting normalized now. |
Sanusi is a joke!!! He can never be dependent on one job Jack of all trade, master of none.
Maybe to you, my guys in Nigerian banks and their debtors don't find him amusing at all. At least not like Ali Baba or Bill Cosby, lol, ![]() |
naijaking1:I have even joined a fans club unknowingly, lwkmd, ![]() fynewaka:It very unfortunate that people have to loose their jobs particularly when it comes suddenly and after boom. However, I would not blame Sanusi for this, it is the fault of those so called CEOs, that threw caution to the wind and do things unethically. They gave Sanusi , the reason to do whatever he's doing now. Somehow, I do not have pity for any CEO who is punished for misuse of public fund, who thinks he can outsmarts the populace by borrowing his/her own stake in the company and use other funny means to enrich himself and his cronies. The politicians are already doing that with our commonwealth, if the private sector is allowed to become unsafe for investments too, then we are finished. |
Naijaking1, I don't know why you are so jingoistic towards Soludo. The crash in prices of Oceanic, ICB and others declared ailing have been due to their lack of substance to back up their acclaimed value. Others are not doing badly. GTB has moved from N12 to N16, FBN stabilise around N13-N15, same for others too, hovering around a value. With Sanusi actions of "tell it as it is", any upward movement now would be close to real as possible instead of covering black cat and showing white head method of the past. I would like us to be objective as see the big picture. |

netotse:What happens if you loose 27% every year for consecutive 3 years. Check the values of all the mutual funds and insurance companies before and after. |
@Naijaking1, I agree with your comments on pension fund but have reservation with underground management of crisis by Soludo. If there is a problem you cannot keep secret for ever and could not be fixed quickly also, the earlier people know the truth the better. It is surprising that Nigerian government officials behaves as if they must give positive news all the time. They go about denying anything negative even when indicators are all over the place. It was international commentators, Meryl Lynch, I think, that first wrote that only 6 banks or so are sound in Nigeria, that was far back in Oct 2008. Soludo went to the press discrediting them and called them names that they are causing unnecessary panic. We all know to the contrary now. I am not saying every method of Sanusi is perfect but the drift must be stopped and there should be signal for future CEOs to realise that as we have some Soludos so also we have some Sanusis then be professional always. |
naijaking1:Again I would like you to explain what you meant by "good old days". I could remember that the economic crisis started around March 2008 with the decline in the NSE and it has not recovered since then. Instaed of looking for the real cause of the decline they stated treating only the symptoms, they tried 1% rule, no loss rule and what have you to know avail. Part of what was mentined as caused of the crisis was Soludo's stopping of margin loans and asking banks to have common end of year - December. That has been the begining of the present crisis. |
^^^^^ My brother, one cannot but be baffled with some people just attacking Sanusi's actions just for the fun of it. The penson funds have lost almost 50% in the past two years, meaning the salary portion deducted lost 50% value instaed of gain or maintain value at worst, that is, it was better for the staff not to have contributed any part of their salaries in the last two years. People who must retire are leaving with almost nothing and those who plan early retirement are shelving the idea, they continue to work, under grudges against their life plan. Yet they here stories of CEOs given their cronies billions of Naira unsecured loans. Non of the CEOs have come out to deny any of the frivolous facilities said to have been granted other than insinuating agenda. Why did they do what would allow anyone carry out his so called agenda. Why would Akingbola run away if he has nothing to hide. |
