See this life, u people with excess milk are doing 7mins sucking, while me with small, my baby can do 2hours there if i let her. Took me a while to realise after eating she was using me as pacifier.

Do PHCs not give rotavirus? I use a private hospital for all vaccines and im told oll pay for rota vieus but not the others. I was wondering why?

I will advise you weigh your baby at any other hospital. When my baby was weighed at her 6wks immunization, they told me her weight was 3.8kg meanwhile her birthweight was 3.2kg. I was really disturbed that she probably wasn't getting enough nutrient because I stopped breastfeeding her and she's on Aptamil only. I took her for Rota Virus vaccine the next day at a private clinic and she was a whooping 4.5kg. Now I'm thinking of going to a different primary health centre for her 10 weeks immunization.

Is she pooping regularly or Does she look like she's struggling to poop? How old is she?

Either she doesnt like to eat much or the problem is u feeding her, so let someone else feed her. As much as my baby likes food and takes formula easily, she dislikes it when i feed her and starts getting annoyed after a while wanting bt milk.

Its as if you're here oo. Everything u have said i do. Except for freezing expressed milk. Its not plenty like that. I used to give her any that i express asap so i stopped expressing and just feed her. I dont want to do strictly formula and i like as she was switching from formula to bt with ease. Im at my wits end cos it seems every two weeks im back in this insufficient bt milk supply phase.

Why not give formular as her last meal before bed so she can sleep longer and you too can relax a bit.

If she wakes at night you can try breast feeding.

During the day: you can alternate formular and breast feed, if giving formular and you have help, let someone else feed her and you go and express so your supply can be maintained. Inbetween the formular feed, you can breast feed.

You can freeze the expressed breast milk and use at a later date.

Also try not to wait she is visibly hungry before breast feeding her, since the lil' diva is impatient. That way everybody is in a relaxed mode!

Drink loads of fluids, especially water as you are breast feeding or expessing, it helps a lot.

Pele! If you still decide to go strictly formular, there is nothing wrong with that as well.

@reniduke, don't give up nau! Rice and tea works for me. Try what this mama said. Am sure it will flow better but if it doesn't, continue with formula so your lo doesn't go hungry.

U sound like me exactly. I went from c cup to f cup bras. Of what use is this kain size? I tot it will be pouring like ocean.
My usual routine,bt milk after bottle feed then her Last bottle feed after her 8pm bath then from 12pm till 6am she feeds twice on bt milk but last two nights, maybe her appetite has increased, na im she no gree suck. She will put her mouth to it, decide its not enough and cry like i have offeneded her spirit.

I will try expressing during the day as suggested while she's taking formula. Ill also look for fenugreek cos ure the second person telling me about that. Lol @20months.

You don't have to give it up! Some women just don't lactate well no matter what efforts they apply. Keep offering both .

Mine too didn't flow well despite having breast made for ten women.

What I did was to feed my son formula every 3hrs and breast milk in between! Breast milk wasn't our main meal and we did just fine.

Formula feed stops at 8pm daily and he will suck whenever he he wakes up till 8am when I make his bottle of milk! We still breast feed anyways at 20months *covers face*

However try some of this.
Fenugreek powder.
Moringa tea.
Uda pepper soup.
Bitter leaf soup cooked with cocoyam.
And see if any will work for you.

@giddyperson, @naomi14, everybori. Im about to give up on breastfeeding. My milk supply has refused to be reliable. My baby was patient at the beginning when there was almost nothing coming out such that i had to supplement with formula to stop weight loss Ive drank so much ogi that if u cut me ogi might flow before blood so dont even volunteer that advice again. She's no longer patient to suck such that even now that its flowing beta than before, she will beat my bt and start crying if its not fast enough. N once she's annoyed, na 1hour + cry be that.

My ability to sleep at night is disappearing before my very eyes. Cos she used to be content to suck bt from 8pm till daybreak. Last night i had to make a bottle before she could eat enough to go back to sleep. I want to know if there's any other solution before i give up n face formula only.

Not good, skineal and its cousins epiderm cream etc contain strong cortico steroids and should not be used for longer than two weeks. Its not even usual to prescribe such for babies unless its needed. It will thin (weaken) your baby's skin over time amongst other issues than can occur.

Sorry, i can tell you're heartbroken. First things first, having a young maid might have made cheating more tempting or convenient but dont beat yourself up for it, ur hubby would have cheated one way or the other since that is what he has decided in his heart. The way forward, is he remorseful, is he trying to win your love back? Then give him the chance to seek your forgiveness. Time will heal this wound if you let it. Stay in your marriage, forgive but don't forget, there's a lesson to learn here.

However, If he's not remorseful and tries to blame you for HIS actions, dont accept such. My hubby confessed to me some days ago that my live in maid that left last month, they both had some things going on, that they never had sex but they romanced countless times in the midnight when I was asleep. I will recommend playdays creche and preschool at 54 iwaya road onike yaba. My kids are there in the creche and school. The crèche fees is 25k monthly. They're available from 6am to 7pm and I think there's a fee of 2k for late night pick up

Mamas please urgent request. Anyone know or can recommend creche around yaba to ebutemetta. Lo is almost 3months when i resume in 11days time. Im doing daycare cos im scared to hire nanny n leave a stranger in my house.
Next time ill get the nanny like one month before i resume and be observing her till i have to resume.

I did not pre-arrange. I searched for one close to my home and booked appointment for 2 days after i was discharged. Kennesaw paedatrics-loved them.

Not doctors but On my mil advice, since ds is her 3rd baby. i was adviced since last week and yesterday i just got tired of resisting. Before she has stopped eating as well as before-she takes breast and 7 bottles of 120ml but yesterday 4 bottles was hard work, even breast that's her fave, na struggle.
We do hot water massage when she bathes but like on her back and chest, legs, ill tell her gma to focus on her tommy area. Thanks.

Why did you administer nospamin? Doctor's advise? Was advised against it sternly but to always use warm water for their navel and tommy area. Warm water, then take clean small towel, dip inside the warm water and use it to massage the tommy slowly, do that to the navel area too. Do it like every time you bath her. This was all we did and my babies never cry of tommy pains.

Note: this warm water is very necessary for massaging their bodies, I can't remember how long my granma did it but was over 3 months.

My dd cries unconsolably every night from 7/8pm till 11 or 12. And wakes up again from 3-5am. I bought nospamin this night and gave to her. I hope she sleeps well. Ive never been so out of my depth. I was hoping she would me medicine free baby (because her mommy had to take many during pregnancy) but im first interested in her being healthy. Your advice and tips are needed.

The cut is not a big one ooo. It's just to allow the tiny stick go under the skin and they'll give you local anaesthethic. Visit www.honeyandbanana.com to learn about the diff family planning. Ps. I just got IUD on sunday, yes it can come out but thats why you're to check for the first 3months after your period. If it stays, you're good for 5-10years. another option, i used the 3month injection called sayana press before having my baby. For the injection and implanon, you cant use them if you're obese, have heart disease, stroke, liver disease or a close family member(mother or sister) that has or had cancer.

My doctor told me about it when i went for my 3 months check up. I was complaining that my tummy was getting bigger instead of going in which it did for my first son. She told me to lie on my back with knees bent and lift my neck a little. Then use 2 fingers to place at the center near the belly button. I felt some space there and she said i had that thing you wrote there. That i should stop with the tummy exercises and live with my blessings. She didn't even offer hope that there was a way to reduce it. Said i can try body magic but that was it.

I am willing to learn any other exercise as i used to have a very flat tummy.

I posted this a while ago, worked for me and veejay who did it recently too. You might want to give a try.


"On the doctor's recommendations for cradle cap (noticed my son's scalp was dry and flaky and his front hairline was receeding...so we went to see his doc).
Put olive oil on the scalp and leave on for 15mins
Use a fine tooth comb to gently massage the scalp and also comb up the flakes
Then wash hair with selsun blue shampoo (active ingredient is selenium...dunno if that is what sebamed has too) and slightly towel dry
Apply hair oil and comb.

This should be done once a week for 2 weeks...I.e twice.
Healed my boys scalp instantly... Now we are patiently waiting for his bald spots to grow back"

Alternatively what i did as per doc advice was baby oil, Brush hair to lift the dry bits from dcalp and wash off immediately. Did twice a day. Problem Stopped after 3 days. Subsequently, I still apply very little baby oil in mornings and brush her hair and wash off at night, just to keep it shiny and smooth.

You're in a pregnant women's forum so you're obviously in the wrong place for your questions. Tell or take your girlfriend to go to an actual qualified doctor to discuss her options. Nigerian doctors have all heard what she wants to do before and will either help her or direct her to their colleague that can do it. You wont find help here.

Giddy person has said almost everything. Lemme add that the hospital asked me to do a warm sitz bath and not steam which is what we yorubas do traditionally. So I read about steam before agreeing with my mom to try her way.
If you do Choose the warm sitz, then the water should be such that you can put your Behind inside without burning. And you should add more hot water to warm it up when cold. For steam, 10 minutes is good or once the steam is cool, stand up, no matter what dem mamas say. It have do .

At stitches loosening, i had tiny episiotomy cut and had more stitches inside the vg, and though mine was absorbable they didnt fall off due to steam. I confess im not sure if that will apply to everyone, plus i dont sit as long as my momsi would have liked (10-15 mins and only for one week) and depending on how severe your tears are, might be best to avoid steam entirely like giddy person says and do warm water. But babe if ure not torn, do steam biko.
That her advice on the poo makes plenty sense, unless ure like me and hate eating vegetable as medicine then buy stool softener like liquid paraffin (ask a pharmacist). Insist that you dont want a regular laxative or purgative, u want a stool softener. If you try too hard to pooo ull injure ur anus and cause haemorrhoid. You can also apply some baby oil on your anal opening to keep things easy there.
Unless uve been told ur baby is very big, then buy one pack of newborn diaper. Ps. Newborn in pampers is for lo less than 4kg. Size 1 is 4-i think 6kg so that should give u a clue. Ps. My madam is not yet 4kg but she can wear size 1 now. Dont buy too much of anything so you aren't looking for who to dash the remaining (not like that's a bad thing).
Breastfeeding, learn to latch your baby well, but its hardwork at the beginning. Watch videos online if they dont teach you at the hospital. Use a breast pump if you want to see what you actually produce in 30mins or 1hour. I felt so bad and understood why she was always hungry and ive been supplementing with formula since day 4. Howeever my intense (sleep killing, nipple aching) breastfeeding efforts on days 1-3 means My gal switches easily from breast to formula without forgetting her first and preferred love-bm. but she wont collect d bottle from me and gives me side eye 'like seriously woman, bring that breast out now now before i vex" so only my ma and husband can successfully feed her bottle.
If you dont do baby wipes, u will be washing their butt everytime with water and patting dry. Abeg too much work! It reminds me of the days of washing my junior ones cloth diapers.
Most importantly have someone around to help you or you will find yourself crying like your baby. It can be frustrating even with help. Last last, dont give up, learn ur baby's cry language and signs, will write about that later if im chanced. My boss is awake.

If you get an episiotomy, while you're being stitched, ask if you can sit on hot water, if they say no don't do it no matter how many people come to your house later and say you can. Cuz if you do it, your stitches would loosen and you would have to get restitched.

There's also warm sitz baths which is done by sitting on warm water (warm enough to pour on your body). You can do that one. Zaynie made a post on it around 20-21st April, you can stalk her and read the post.

Cook a massive pot of vegetable soup and take a bowl of it everyday alongside all the orisirisi they are cooking for you so that your poo would remain soft and u won't loosen your stitches while straining to poo

If your hp is like mine that doesn't like soap and antiseptics then use savlon very sparsely else you would end up with an infection.

Take your post-childbirth drugs religiously, even if you are a drug throwawayer like me.

Just wash and dry ur hp area every time you use the toilet, if you keep it clean and dry at all times, it would heal fast.

Get like 4 small towels for the drying part so you can wash every time you use them.

Sit with your legs closed, don't walk around a lot, don't do stressful stuff, just rest.

After the first three days, or whenever the bleeding reduces to just drops, dump the lady sept pads and switch to pantie liners so that you can change it every time you feel something drop on it and for fresh air

If breast milk doesn't come in early, still just allow baby suck a lot, let her spend 24/7 on the breast if that's what it takes to get her full, that way the flow would improve. If she's too hungry and wailing tho, supplement with formula until it starts flowing well.

You can buy size 2 diapers, that's what I bought, but don't buy too much cuz you would probably get a lot of gift diapers and they might all be size 2 too. I bought just one pack of size 2 molfix diaper, the one that has 48 or so inside, didn't have to buy again cuz she was using gifts until last week when she grew to a size 3. Right now you still don't know which diaper would be good on her skin so don't buy in bulk yet.

As for baby wipes, is there an alternative?

Lol. Is taking care of baby not more than 5H a month? Diapers nko, wipes nko? Baby food? Beta buy your 5h in peace.

So i was induced at 38 weeks. Yes i did not wait for labour to kick in, for health reasons and because i dont understand the waiting for 40-42weeks sef! I had two sets of gynaes, the highrisk ones wanted me to wait while they monitor things every week while the regular gynae agreed with me that since baby n i are fine and full term then why wait for any chance that it might change in two weeks.

-So they induced me with an insert called cervidil, they placed it on my cervix for 12 hours. It looks like a short tape rule, they will push it in and leave it for 12 hours till they take it out. I was 0.5 before they started and by 12hours later, i was ordinary 2cm. Contractions had started after like the first 2hours and had been coming closer. To occupy my time i was counting the contraction time with my mom so my husband left us to come back when it was like 10hours time.

They took out the implant at 12hours and started oxytocin IV, this was 12.30am. By 1am, 2am i kept standing up to vomit but nothing was coming out, i wanted to poop too, nothing. By 4am, contractions were like 3mins apart and super painful so i beg nurse to check again and im just 4cm. I think my brain got hot when i heard that. I was thrashing with the pain and ordinary 4cm?!? Nurse had promised to give me epidural by 4cm so i was screaming where's my epidural. She said she would call the anaesthesiologist and prep me and that's how she was doing that outside n wasting time when i told hubby i feel like im pushing. I was shouting the pain doesnt stop, why is there no break, the pain keeps coming. I was thrashing by now. My mom says her heart broke knowing she couldnt help me.
So my husband calls my nurse to say she says she's pushing. My nurse says thats not posdible she's just 4cm. So she checks again and screams OMG! ure 9.5cm. Im shouting where's my epidural. She says honey if you sit up for epidural this baby is falling out. I tell her she lied to me, we had a deal, 4cm-epidural, im crying now. She presses all the panic buttons that she needs all the doctors now, her patient just jumped to 9.5cm. Before the doctors come, she gives my mom one leg n my husband the other to hold. Like 5minutes later they're saying they can see the head, which head? I turned to my husband, is it true? He says yes its true i should push again n he's smiling. Minutes later my princess, my lil Matilda arrives after 5am.

Ps. Throughout the pain from 12midnight to delivery my dh would be whispering to me, u can do it, dont give up, dont say ure tired, ure almost there! etc. My mom asked me afterwards what he was telling me. It helped a whole lot.

Any other mom with autoimmune ish! You can do it God that helped me will help you. Just be open to CS If needed or preferably sef and do family planning after, dont be getting pregnant soon after. The doxtors made me sign that if the induction wasnt successful i would do CS. I told dem no wahala now, even some people who go into labour by themselves still do CS.

Ps. all those mommies that feel proud of themselves for doing vaginal and use it to insult other women, pele ooo, ure not strong, ure just lucky or blessed, i hope u realize it one day.
Vaginal delivery hurts like a MF, CS i will try next time n compare unless my baby disagrees n comes by 38weeks. 40weeks or later is not my deal. My baby is 4weeks now. I cant imagine just going to labour now, like kilode?!? I used to talk to my baby, madam here's the deal, momi is too excited to see u, so either come by urself or accept that i will encourage u out. Agreed? I think she said Yes

-Turns out my nurse had called my husband out to explain that my lab tests showed my platelets had dropped too low for them to give me the epidural without risking that i wont stop bleeding after delivery and need transfusion. They were trying to find a solution when i started to say i was pushing.

Ps. Sit over hot water after u leave the hospital. The steam sitz bath its called. Yorubas make u sit on potty but if u can get this plastic (see pic) they gave me in the hospital and place on toilet seat its more convenient. Steam seating works like magic for flattening ur stomach and removing some thick chunks of blood. I couldnt believe what fell out. My mom wanted to make me do it for two weeks morning noon and night. I think i quit after one week.
