STAGE 2: 100 word drabble

PAIRINGS
For the second stage, I decided to do make pairings based on the similarities I noticed between the writers. You'll submit a 100 word drabble ON THE DISCUSSION THREAD, https://www.nairaland.com/3915558/seun-osewa-flash-fiction-instructions

So, dig deep and let your creativity explode in not more than a hundred words. Lol!

Best of luck!

please i would be glad if my story could be reviewed so i wont make the same mistake i made before @ Audrey.Audrey.timms, Larr.Larr.ysun and repo.girl. pls my entry is 14.
It is a really funny story and you did quite well with your grammar but you need to do more work on your style. A good style makes your reader form an attachment with your character.

It's not enough to write the story, you have make your readers become part of the story. You have to pick your words carefully, construct it so that anyone reading would genuinely feel your character.

Also, in your story, I would have liked to know why the character was being tormented by the soldier. What did he do that landed him in that situation.

The ending was the best part of the story, every other part didn't do much for me. Next time, try and create a story with more depth. Let it have a beginning (introduction to the character), a conflict and then an end, which is as a result of the conflict.

Hope this helps. Keep writing and you'll find your style.

How do you people even come up with this stuff?

Hello guys, I'd like to commend everyone who took time out to participate in this contest. You all have tried. It isn't easy trying to tell a story when one is constrained to a limited number of words.

If I had more time, I'd have given a review of all the stories submitted but sadly, I don't. I can only pick six stories that caught my attention.

Here are my picks in no particular order.

ENTRY 10
I really liked this story. It was well written and every word properly executed. I liked how you told the story without giving all the details and it takes the reader sometime to piece it all together by themself. For me, it was like putting puzzle together. The writer is a good story teller and knows this. Well done!

ENTRY 15
I liked how this story began quite innocently, progressing gradually till its fatal end. I was impressed at how you could tell the story quite well despite being limited in the nunber of words. Some typos here and there but still good. Well done.

ENTRY 11
Okay, I see you're a favorite here. Your story was entertaining, with not quite the end we expected. Your style quite simple and that's very much allowed. I would like to see what you can do next. Well done.

ENTRY 12
Okay! What the 'Stephen King/Dean Koontz' was happening in this story? It was eerie, it was abstract and even a bit confusing at times but that was settled when I went over it a few more times. I liked it because it was different and strange. The writer has a weird mind and I would like to see what other weird stories this mind can come up with. Well done.

ENTRY 13
I was more drawn to your story because of your use of words although this didn't quite make an impact on the storyline. When writing a story where you have a limited number of words to use, it is imperative that you make every single word count. You have to tell a proper story. I would have liked more depth in this story. I know you can do it, as your style is interesting. Just focus more on the story and not the setting when you have to use a little number of words to tell a story.

ENTRY 8
This was good. Even though you were word contrained, you were able to put in a twist. Next time though, it might be better you stuck with the same character from beginning till end for a really short story like this. Since you began with the character, Laila, it should have been her who found out at the last moment, that she and her terrorist friends had been set up to die. Good job though, I'd like to see what you will come up with in the next round.

Good luck in the next round, guys.

OP, from your story, she was never your gf! I never saw where you said she accepted your request but somehow YOU assumed she was your GF. You two were only friends, so how can you be trying to get back someone that was never yours?

Advice, move on with your life. She obviously doesn't think you're worth being boyfriend material OR she isn't ready for a relationship.

Right now, be the friend she wants you to be, maybe there will be a chance with her later.

Lol! Planned work!

That dry place where there is no oil. As if we dont know theyvdiverted the money to their private coffers and now used a planned boko haram attack as the reason to stop exploration. They know people will ask questions if they suddenly ended the fake oil exploration and they had to make up a seemingly plausible excuse which discerning people can see through ofcourse.

They want us to really believe the kidnap of a few people is enough to stop a serious company from finding crude? If it were like that, oil companies would hve run from Nigerdelta nah.

And according to them people died but up till now, they can't confirm the number? Chai! See lie!
