@damdis got an admit for MS communication at GVSU but she used Missouri State uni to get her visa. U might want to check through her interview transcript aanowai: Grand Valley State University.. That's the name of the school that gave me i20. I was not asked if I did any standardized test, if not I would have provided my GRE score result. I was also not asked for sponsor's bank statement, if not I had it with me and even my own bank statement. The way the interview went was exactly how, I wrote it here.
Moreso, you need a better if not professional communications in administrative duties. I've been given admission to study for a MSc in Communications in the aforementioned school. |

Horayce: Na wah o. Those are pretty lax standards. It was their management information systems program that had those requirements i put there. They were so finicky about having my official transcript. In truth, all i did was make a copy of my originals and sent it to them thru my friend putting my uni as sender. Did it to all five schools i applied to, saved me a godawful amount of money than if i had gone thru my uni which now charges 20k per yankee transcript. MIS is a very competitive program. A lot of Idians are either going for MIS or computer science. When I was applying to my schools, I had to look for schools that won't require sending official transcript during the application process. I can remember the sleepless nights I had. Came up with 15 schools and I applied to 10. |

Horayce: nah SIUE require official transcript, GRE/GMAT and toefl scores. Only thing they dont require is reco letters. May be different for undergrad though I got admitted for MS Environmental sciences and all I emailed to them was my transcript and statement of purpose. Maybe it's different per program. App fee $30 |

Wow! That was a really short one. Congratulations dotman2460: Good news and not soo good news. One granted while the other was "temporarily" denied......I believe the visa is his and he will claim it the next time.
I and one other NL member went for our visa interview this morning. Mine was granted.
Very short interview.
VO: Good morning sir. ME: Good morning.
VO: What is your purpose of travel? ME: Masters Degree in Computer Science.
Brief pause....
VO: How did you found out about the school? ME: A recommendation from an alumni.
VO: Who will pay for your study? ME: My dad.
VO: What does he do? ME: Works with so and so.
The moment she set aside my passport and returned my other document, I knew God has done it. She then utters those magical words, "Pick up your visa at this address on Monday'.
I turned around, smiled from ear to ear, punched the air and kept on wishing everyone on my way out goodluck, even the ones that were not there for any interview......security guards.
Nothing but God. |

sabiguy: I dont mean to sound obfuscating, but won't the VO frown at his GPA? I'm just curious That is when he has to step up his game and convinve the VO reasons for his low GPA. That's why it's called an interview. I have friends that got there visas with low GPA. |

Due to some reason I deferred the admission to spring 2015, now that I'm ready to pay my sevis fee and start the processing, is that same i20 valid or I would be issued another one by the school. Pls assist with ur vital info asap. Thanks all You have to request for a new i20. The fall i20 is not valid. |

Congratulations sir. azeezbaba: Alhamdulilahi robil alameen. All praises and thanks be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds. Let me start by thanking all the gurus in the house, Morris, Aanowai, Bigfrancis & Idawz et al. I can't thank you all enough. Visa approved today 22nd October, 2014 Time: 7.30am - Abuja - Window 9 (Although we didn't enter the embassy until some minutes to 10am because I forget my bank statement) My transcript is as follows:
VO: Good morning (with a lovely smile) Me & Wife: Good morning (My 15 months old son too struggled to say something)
VO: Pass me your documents Me: I did (she started typing and she continued typing for like 2 mins)
VO: Where is your school? Me: North Carolina
VO: Why did you choose the school? Me: Of all the schools I visited when I was on holiday in the US, North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University has the best infrastructure and research facilities and the only one that offers my 1st choice concentration which is Cyber Security.
VO: Who is your sponsor? Me: Myself
VO: Can I see your statement? Me: I handed out my statements of account
VO: She looked at the statement carefully, flipping the pages and looking at the transaction history (she did this for like 2 mins)
VO: (She asked my wife to do fingerprint and I followed)
VO: Your visa has been approved (She said so many other things after that, like when we can enter the US, the documents to present at the port of entry but I wasn't listening because I was already overjoyed)
I pray for those going for their visa interviews to meet God's favour. I am really overjoyed now
She didn't ask for GRE, IELTS/TOEFL, Transcript or any other document for that matter apart from my bank statement. It's not by might but by prayer. |

slimmy05: Ofcourse. She can collect the one without GA and pay for the sevis and when they finally award her the GA she can border for new i-20.
Better still she can still request for the scanned copy to get the details to pay her sevis fee, fill her ds160 and also book appointment. If the decision is taking time more than expected, then she should request for the i-20 without GA using private courier. Thank you so much. |

Hello house. Please I have a question. My sister is expecting her I-20 but her school gave her two options of sending it now without GA or wait till she gets the GA which gives her a higher chance of getting a visa. The school said they will not be about to review her GA application until next month which might be kinda late because she wants to get an early date for her interview. My question is can she collect the I-20 without the GA, pay for sevis with it and all then have them resend the updated I-20 with GA for her interview. |
