It's the most affordable school in illinois. I'm in university of Illinois Springfield so I don't know much about the urbana champagne campus. |

I was also in this same situation. There was a mistake on my DOB on my transcript. Instead of 1988 they put 1986. I sent it like that to all my schools but only Rutgers University emailed me that there was an error on my DOB. I replied and explained to them that it's from my school and I have contacted them to rectify it. I was admitted. So ur friend should email them or probably get a note from his school on this issue profojah: Please house ...A friend really need u guyz help...
The date of birth on her transcript issued by her school doesn't correlate with d ones on every of her other documents and certificates...One of schools she applied to mailed her that she should get a proof that the transcript belongs to her (tho d transcript was sent directly from her school)...she's trying to ask what to do and hope this won't alter her admission from dis school and d other schools she applied to... This is d message she got from her school
Dear Name We have received your online college net application for the Fall semester of 2015 for a Master’s of Science in Geology in our College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Houston. Upon placing your files in our system for review, we noticed a discrepancy in your date of birth. Could please verify the correct date of birth by providing proof of your actual date of birth so that we can continue to process your application immediately. Thank you very much Sincerely. |

Bro, do u mean VO will see your application on his system? If so, that's on another level mehn. Maybe that's the reason they don't ask for documents anymore cos you must have submitted almost everything during the school application. JabinodelaRatta: @bolded...I couldn't agree with you more. It is absolutely true! the reason I gave for my choice of the school in my SOP was the exact same reason I told the VO for choosing the school.
In fact, the decision to accept me by the school was based on my SOP, recommendations, and test score; to the extent that a faculty emailed me, telling me how my application impressed him and he would want me to join his research group. I noticed that before they received my academic transcript, they had made their decision on my acceptance.
Thanks MsNas!! no be small shakara I don do.... |

Please don't turn this into something else. We are all here to learn from situation like this. It is left to you to take or discard the advice depending on how it fits you. You don't say people's assumptions are completely baseless, it's rude. ebdib: @repsin @sabiguy Please because you got your visa doesn't give you any right to pontificate on why the VO denied profojah What's even worse is the fact that your assumptions are completely baseless.
So everyone has to do a masters in a related field to get a visa? Absolute hogwash.
Americans like continuity in education? Are you kidding me?? I've seen people switch from dance to nursing. If there's any country that believes in horizontal education and not vertical education. It is America. So that statement is not only fallacious it is downright ignorant.
Visa is favour and likeablility. Simple. Don't say things you don't know especially to a downcast applicant.

Each applicant's case is different. I also have lot of friends that changed major but almost all of them had some supporting things. One just got his visa on friday, he changed from Biochemistry to mechanical engineering but hey this guy has been to the US seven times in five years. In projorah case, he had a very good GPA and the VO might not be comfortable with him changing this area that he's good at.and there was nothing to back up his point. MsNas: What about people who switched majors and got their visas on their first trial without breaking a sweat at the interviews? How on earth did you come to that conclusion? Almost all the Americans in my graduate class did something entirely different for undergraduate. So, where did that theory come from?
I agree he needs to give a reason for his switch to forensics via work experience. But saying he should drop that for something along the lines of his undergraduate degree doesn't sound right to me. Also, applying for a visa right after NYSC is no crime. |

Exactly he should create a link with work experience related to his intending course of study. My brother I dey fear to change my naira to dollars oo. osahons9: @profojah sorry for the delay. I agree absolutely with @repsin. I want to add something too. I think if you don't have experience in ur intended major, then your application sounds desperate. you just rounded up your nysc, probably you were teaching there or something. They know it's difficult to get a job in nigeria but that doesn't mean you shouldn't look for a job say within one year from when you rounded up nysc. Applying for visa immediately after nysc is a sign of desperation. I have seen so many denials to back this up.
From my experience, you need to show them you know what you want from experience/training and even if you are not working, you are not idle.
My 2kobo cos dollar don too high |

@profojah. Your interview transcript was a good one but I have to point out some things on it. Firstly, you need to build a link between your UG degree and your intending MS major. The VO wanted to help fill up that space reason why he asked what your project was all about. Secondly, you don't give a VO what he has not or did not ask it's simply a sign of desperation and I guess you were indisposed. My recommendation: Apply to a course related to what you studied. It makes your case easier with little or no explanation. Americans love continuity and consistency |

I was behind u guys cos I heard his interview from A to Z. The VO looked somehow when we said the baby diapers thing innovativeame: Hahahahahah . You were right in front of me. It was that kanky male VO that interviewed you. I heard practically everything u said, where u cracked me up was when u were talking about your father's job as a contractor and also talking about the tissue thing. That VO denied a lot of dudes visa. Remember that guy that wore white on white brocade, he was going for language program but the vo said that he has all the language skills becos he was forming accent to the vo.
