Despite all odds, it was all smiles and sights and sounds of joy and jubilation in the ancient city of Ogoja, north of cross River State on the 7th of July, 2017, as a new bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Donatus Edet Akpan, was consecrated and installed for her catholic diocese. All catholic faithful, government officials,clergy from various catholic dioceses in Nigeria gathered at St. Thomas College Field in ogoja to witness this great event.
Donatus Edet Akpan, born on August 7, 1952 in Ikot Ada Utor, Essien Udim Local Govt Area of Akwa Ibom State until his appointment as bishop by Pope Francis on the 9th of April 2017, was the parish priest of Holy Rosary Church, Wuse, Abuja Archdiocese. He studied Philosophy and Theology at Bigard Memorial Seminary Enugu and was ordained a priest on October 12, 1985 at St Anne’s Cathedral Ifuho, Ikot Ekpene by Most Rev Fitzgibon of Port Harcourt Diocese at the instance of His Eminence, Dominic Cardinal Ekandem. Besides having been Parish Priest in several parishes in the Archdiocese of Abuja, he was also Rector of the SS Simon and Jude Seminary, Kuje, Abuja.
Bishop Akpan is the 4th Catholic Bishop of Ogoja diocese since its promotion to the status of dioceses in the year 1955.

The trunk road linking four-two junction(Ibekwe)and Ikot Akpaden (all in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area) has effectively collapsed. This may not be unconnected with the fact that the link road that vehicles coming into Akwa Ibom state (Ikot Abasi LGA) via Port Harcourt, was impassable for some weeks and consequently, those vehicles (mainly heavy duty), that would have naturally come-in from Port Harcourt via Ikot Abasi to Ekparakwa, etc had to now navigate from Ikot Abasi to Ikot Akpaden, connect four-two junction via Ikot Akpaden and head on to various destinations like Uyo, Calabar, etc. The scenario above occurred for only three (3) days, before the Ikot Akpaden/four-two road started showing signs of imminent collapse. The pictures below show the state of the road as of Tuesday 06/09/2016. The collapsed portions are located between Mkpat Enin LGA Headquarters and Ikot Akpaden. A visit by reporters showed the road in conditions which was impassable to cars and heavy duty vehicles. Vehicles that were left stranded as at the time of the visit included those belonging to Coca-Cola, Dangote cement, Petrol tankers, Julius Berger and several others conveying Fulani goats, among others. The residents of the area are calling on the relevant government agency to immediately come to their rescue by commencing emergency repair of the said road. Prominent institutions located in the vicinity of the collapsed road include: Community Secondary Commercial school - Esa Ekpo, Canaan Polytechnic - Ikot Obio Akai, Secondary School – Ukam, Federal Government Girls College - Ikot Obio Itong, Akwa Ibom State University, Ikot Akpaden, among others. With the present state of the road, travellers coming from Ikot Ekpene to Ikot Akpaden, now have to get to Uyo or Ikot Oku Ikono and locate Etinan via Onna before making any head- way. The immediate implication is an additional loss of one (1) extra man hour on the road – time that would have been better spent productively at work, etc. Meanwhile travellers and the general motoring public are hereby urged to make use of alternative routes to make it to their destination.

This is really getting ridiculous but there's no point talking and talking on social media without taking steps,..this case can be ended and resolved simply
This case is a two way thing where the problem can be solved from different angles; From the accusers and all those under that roof,and from the accused. No need talking much about all these as it will only continue. Here's the deal; the accusers get enough AUTHENTIC, UNDENIABLE FACTS AND PROOF to back up all claims (including that of the girl and mother,as well as those who are claiming on social media that he did this and that,they should all come out and testify if they want him to pay for the alleged crimes ),and push this matter to the right place by pressing charges in court. if he is found guilty without reasonable doubt,then he faces the penalty for his crimes.
On the other hand, the accused can also do some good for himself ONLY IF HE KNOWS THAT HE IS INNOCENT...it's simple,If he claims he is innocent,he can boldly go ahead to Sue all accusers and all supporting bodies,by that I mean, those that are taking up his case such as,The Old girls,individuals, the blog that published the info,federal ministry of education,Nigerian police force,and even the Lagos state govt and seriously if he is found to be innocent, believe me,he would make fortunes out of it cus he could as well request for compensation for damages and character assassination. these only hold if he is innocent. So that's all I can say.
