BusinessRe: Youwin Business Competition 2013 by Richtalk: 2:29pm On Dec 03, 2013
habapalapa: Hey guys,

Very informative thread so far.

Pls one question though: in the part where it is asked "how much do you expect to take out monthly? I am a bit confused, I intend to write "0" since it is a new business I have no intention of wanting to reap from it till I break even.

Do you think such answer is feasible, for the application?
You have to put a figure for it, because in a business you are expected to make withdrawals as your own salary. Though at the beginning ,there is no withdrawal expected, but once you start making good income withdrawal is necessary and acceptable.

Also from the the cash flow at the second stage, you are expected to fill in your expected withdrawal for each month. ( I saw the second stage cashflow from a Youwin awardee). So my advice to is that you should put a figure that is low and will cover the average withdrawal in a month for the first one year.

Okija_juju: http://thenationonlineng.net/new/angry-pdp-governors-to-jonathan-forget-2015/
They tabled the conditions at a meeting on Sunday night with President Goodluck Jonathan, 16 governors, and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of a faction of the party, Chief Tony Anenih.

The conditions are that:

National Chairman Bamanga Tukur should be sacked; - NO DEAL

•President Jonathan should do one term only and forget re-election in 2015; NO DEAL

•the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) and Rivers State crises should be resolved; and ACCEPTED

•”harassment” of governors by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) should be stopped. NO DEAL

“The governors demanded the removal of the factional National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur to have genuine reconciliation in the party, a source said, adding: “They also asked the President to stick to the agreement he purportedly had with party leaders to spend one term in office. They urged Jonathan to come out openly on his rumoured re-election bid in 2015.

They listed the crises in the NGF and Rivers State and promotion of parallel party structure in some PDP states as their grouses.

WARNING..

Any negotiations that involves Jonathan not running in 2015 will not be accepted.. #PERIOD! angry

PDP Vision 2015.. In Joe we trust..
I agree with you on the rest except this;

Why should Bamanga Tukur be sacked ? As a sacrificial lamb or what?

And by the way, why are you calling BT factional chairman? Baraje is in no way recognised as a PDP chairman.

Baraje is only the chairman of a group of 7 mischievous governors and Atiku!
PoliticsRe: Suntai Is Incapable Of Administering The State-taraba State House Of Assembly by Richtalk: 3:43pm On Aug 30, 2013
Frank-C:
This action appear so unreasonable to me. Let me reproduce the relevant sections of the Nigerian constitution. My understanding of these sections is different from what this Speaker is doing.

The consitution declare the basic health qualification of a Governor as:

Section (S).182(1)(c) - “no person shall be qualified for election to the office of Governor of a State if, under the law in any part of Nigeria, he is adjudged to be a lunatic or otherwise declared to be of unsound mind.”

Now, if a Governor wants to proceed on leave, the constitution states that:

S.190(1) - ” Whenever the Governor is proceeding on vacation or is otherwise unable to discharge the functions of his office, he shall transmit a written declaration to the Speaker of the HA to that effect, and until he transmits to the Speaker of the HA a written declaration to the contrary, the DG shall perform the functions of the Governor as Acting Governor”;

“(2) In the event that the Governor is unable or fails to transmit the written declaration mentioned in subsection (1) of this Section within 21 days, the HA shall, by a resolution, made by a simple majority of the vote of the House, mandate the DG to perform the functions of the office of the Governor as Acting Governor, until the Governor transmits a letter to the Speaker that he is now available to resume his functions as Governor

Now, when the Governor returns from such trip, he just need to notify the House of Assembly, and not take permission from them, to resume his office as is indicated in the bolded above.

If such a person resumes and you feel that he is not fit to continue, there is a procedure. This is what the constitution says about that:

Section 189 “(1) the Governor or Deputy Governor (DG) of a State shall cease to hold office, if- (a) by a resolution passed by two- thirds majority of all the members of the executive council of the State, it is declared that the Governor or DG is incapable of discharging the functions of his office; and (b) the declaration is verified, after such medical examination as may be necessary, by a medical panel established under Subsection 4 of this Section in its report to the Speaker of the State HA;

(2) where the medical panel certifies in the report that in its opinion the Governor or DG is suffering from such infirmity of body or mind as renders him permanently incapable of discharging the functions of his office, a notice thereof signed by the Speaker of the HA shall be published in the Official Gazette of the Government of the State;

(3) The Governor or DG shall cease to hold office as from the date of publication of the notice of the medical report pursuant to Subsection 2 of this Section;

(4) the medical panel to which this Section relates shall be appointed by the Speaker of the HA, and shall comprise five medical practitioners in Nigeria- (a) one of whom shall be the personal physician of the holder of the office concerned; and (b) four other medical practitioners who have, in the opinion of the Speaker of the HA, attained a high degree of eminence in the field of medicine relative to the nature of the examination to be conducted in accordance with the foregoing provisions;

(5) In this Section, the reference to “executive council of the State” is a reference to the body of Commissioners of the Government of the State, howsoever called, established by the Governor and charged with such responsibilities for the functions of Government as the Governor may direct”

Now, how can a Speaker be making careless statements as if his visit to the Governor is enough to declare him 'unfit to rule'? He must follow the procedure to the letter. For now, Suntai remains the Governor of Taraba State.
You said it all.
This is about constitution not personal sentiments.

^^^ Are you not following news. Have you heard or seen that Suntai has made a state broadcast?

My worry with all this is the way some journalist or Nigerians report these things.They are never satisfy.

First they said he dead, they later saw his pictures being alive.

Sahara reporters then said he is brain dead, but he arrived the country safely and identified all those that welcomed him.

They said he should address the state , he as done that .

What else do they want? to step aside ? why?

The constitution was followed when he had an accident and the deputy governor was sworn in as acting governor.

what is difficult in following the constitution again now that he is back.

The Governor should do the honourable thing and revert to his position as deputy.

the governor doesn't need to be completely strong before he can govern the state, that's why we have the deputy and the executive council. Since he is stable enough to give instructions, he still remains the governor.

Being sick should never be seen as a crime, but i just wonder how some people think.

You became deputy governor and in one month you are acting governor, is that not enough?

PoliticsRe: Governor Suntai Dissolves State EXCO by Richtalk(op): 12:35pm On Aug 28, 2013
I think this will strengthen our Democracy. Is not about what we feel, is about constitution.

I remember after Yaradua saga a new law came to play that requires that the deputy governor is immediately sworn in as acting governor 21 days after his absence from office. And the governor is only expected to send a letter to the state house of assembly informing them of his return.

With this Suntai's case, I think a new law needs to be written, that requires the governor to address the assembly upon his return.

The only prove for him being healthy is what the doctors say.

I guess Suntai is still on track.

Cracks in APC As ACN National Treasurer Resigns, Accuses Party of Ethno-Religious Slant
Posted by: Our Reporter on June 27, 2013 in Exclusive Leave a comment

The National Treasurer of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, and a member of the National Harmonization Committee, Mr. Kenneth Kobani has resigned accusing the All Progressive Congress, APC, of having a “clear ethno-religious slant.”
In his resignation letter, a copy which was sent to Pointblanknews.com, Kobani expressed very serious concern about the formation of the APC, insisting that it has failed to reflect the secularity and the geo-political realities of Nigeria.
“The outcome of my consultations is that they expressed very serious concerns that the proposed party is completely different in form, character, and orientation from the ideals of the ACN of which I am a member and its national treasurer; especially in so far as the proposed party has a clear ethno-religious slant, and does not take into account the secularity and geo-political realities of the very complex Nigeria State,” Kobani said in his letter quitting the party.
The resignation letter reads:
“After the conclusion of our meeting of today, 24th June 2013, held at the Lagos State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, which was convened to harmonise the distribution of Interim Offices of the proposed All Progressives Congress, (APC), l had cause to discuss the outcome with my constituents.
“The outcome of my consultations is that they expressed very serious concerns that the proposed party is completely different in form, character, and orientation from the ideals of the ACN of which I am a member and its national treasurer; especially in so far as the proposed party has a clear ethno-religious slant, and does not take into account the secularity and geo-political realities of the very complex Nigeria State.
“In view of these emerging facts of the merger, when taken within the concern I had expressed over the infiltration of some characters and influences into the state chapter of our party, ostensibly with the tacit support of some leading figures in the party, it is indeed with a heavy heart that l wish to inform you that l can no longer remain a member of the ACN, and hereby resign my position as National Treasurer and my membership of the merger harmonisation committee of the party.
“From the events of this evening, after much cogitation it is my firm conviction that the proposed political party (APC), which the leadership of the merging parties have subscribed to does not reflect in composition and structure the current realities of the Nigerian state.
“I wish to place on record my gratitude to you Mr. Chairman Sir, senior leaders of our party, my colleagues in the National Working Committee and the membership of our party for finding me worthy to have served you since 2010.
“I will take with me fond memories of your firm yet fatherly leadership and selfless service in the defense of Democracy. I will also always remember the many battles we fought and won and will never forget our collective resolve to fight injustice and oppression in our country; and ultimately, your unquenchable desire to change this country for the better.
“Finally, in spite of my strong reservations and objections to the new direction things have taken, my prayers remain that you succeed in all your future endeavors.
Yours faithfully
Kenneth Kobani

To construct fast train tracks, cost mega bucks. But I think it is PPP arrangenment. To construct a fast train track on electric, can cost between 4million to 10million dollars per kilometer, depending on the nature of the area and terrain.

I truely commend GEJ for embarking on this project. It is long overdue
