Looking at the concrete boulders brought out you can tell a whole lot of money was pumped into this house and one would have been wasting one's time attempting to use manual labour. During excavation some terrible soil was encountered along with refuse, which on enquiry i was made to understand there was a pool there before and when it was no longer needed was filled with all sorts. my decision was to excavate to firm soil and fill with some concrete hardcore then with sharp sand which is expected to penetrate the voids created by the boulders then i would fill with water to increase the sand's density so it can sink well into voids. i decided to use sharp sand as that would not create the kind of voids that laterite would create thereby causing cracks in the future and the rains are still here during construction.

Got zinc panels to hoard the existing area and also to protect the floor marble tiles. Got a JCB for clearing and excavation, then manual labor to trim. there are columns involved in the existing building, those happened to be structural because there is a roof deck but because we are having light weight roof this time the columns become non- structural and purely aesthetic cos we need them to mirror the existing onto the proposed.

Location: Ogun State Project Description; A private luxury hall needs to be doubled for an upcoming event. Owner wants his friends to as much as possible not know he has expanded the hall capacity except by size. Duration; 2 months, mid August to mid October, 2012. Construction and Project Management Portfolio handled by Rich Ruler Ltd. Pros; A bungalow project, length was the same but width had to be doubled. simple you would say but not quite. Cons; some of the finish items couldn't be sourced locally; took time and we had to find another way to make sure the hall was functional and met required criteria for the upcoming event. ofcourse you would not get some 1980 materials in 2012 but we tried matching as much as possible. A simple expansion/movement joint was created between the old and the new building underneath then tiles laid on top. Find below a link to some of our projects displayed here; https://www.nairaland.com/2835349/construction-oouradio-stationago-iwoye-swimming Thank you for viewing. nextstep:I salute your courage and action orientation Sir. If it worked efficiently and better than you expected you would have just opened doors that a lot of us would walk thru perhaps without informing U. Weldone Boss, Kudos!!! |
EgunMogaji:Maybe you can send Azuh after them, he's ready to enter market unclad ![]() Can't help but laugh, good one Boss, EgunMogaji Chekitaut....All Is Well, by God's grace. |
FastShipping:Hi Boss, should be about 4m from my reports on soil type over there. Sent you a mail. |
FastShipping:Will get back to you Sir. Do U mean Idi Araba in Lagos? |
jodeci01:Sir, thank you. A couple of things decide the final cost like type of soil, levels, scenery etc but let's simply put at not above N5m. |
[quote author=nextstep post=The site we have planned has a very deep water table, and in fact, it's very difficult to reach it with a borehole. It's also on relatively high ground, and during the rains, water flows away. Why use foundation techniques designed for Lekki and PH when we can put the foundation right on the ground? Especially when the slab size is planned to be only 6m x 6m. I can't find it right now, but I thought someone on Nairaland did something similar... Great thinking Sir ! Sorry, I'm late here, but what if for some reason drains around your area gets blocked and flooding happens for say just 1hr after some heavy downpour like u have in gra Ikeja n some areas in Surulere? Some of these things are based on factors of safety, in such an event the man with 1 course of block around perimeter is not at peace as much as the man with 3 courses of perimeter blocks is. People throw things indiscriminately into drains here, some even build on them. Images from: http://www.sturmsoft.com/House/pictures.htm |
[quote author=EgunMogaji post=37905819 I sometimes wonder how a house built with concrete burns so robustly in Nigeria...[/quote]Boss!!! I hail o! If my memory serves me right, the American building code's factor of safety and load allowances are higher than the British which we were using . So, their structures are usually more robust. Sharp practices don't help too. The idea of what works too is detrimental too. People can latch on to the idea that something worked somewhere without thinking of /knowing the thought process behind such decisions and they just copy n paste. |
GTBank gave 7.8% p.a for 90 days and gave 7.5% p.a for the previous auction. |
kolaish:Maybe you and some others will understand when bnsitl say ''monkey hunting'' or monkey hunters. This story has been posted here a long time ago. Cheers |
Dragonking:O and O is currently gaining about 5% so how's it being offloaded massively? Seems to me serious speculation is going on which is normal for traders. Got this from my broker on Axa Mansard... Earnings Update – Q1’16 ended 31st March 2016 Investment Summary Axa Mansard continued its impressive performance in the new financial year, as it posted its Q1’16 result sheet to the Nigerian market showing a 25.81% growth in gross premium written to 8.83 billion (vs. ₦7.02 billion in Q1’16), while profit before tax surged impressively by 46.66% to ₦751.04 million (vs ₦512.08 million in Q1’15). This inspiring performance in the face of the current economic headwinds shows that the company is very well poised to achieving and even exceeding our FY’16F profit after tax of ₦1.64 billion. Given the current result and the expectation of a stable operating environment we reiterate our BUY rating on the company shares at current market price with our valuation placing the company at a fair value of ₦2.40, suggesting an upside potential of 23.71% in the medium term. Impressively, the… TO READ MORE, KINDLY FIND AS ATTACHED |

missbronze:Happy Birthday in arrears. Wish U a wonderful year ahead. |
gechyy2:Hi, you stack tyres on each other say 3 or 4. U put a net on the one before the topmost to prevent a jailbreak. U would have put some soil in the last one beneath. Can send a picture when I'm less busy. Hope U understand though? Having a shade is not a bad idea but the tires provide a shade with the snails staying in the inner parts of the tyres. The stack also provide shades for them. |
