The major reason people go after funding is to proof to some extent that u won't fall out of status due to finance reason, I've read a lot of transcript here where VO turn people down with this stage of assurance, If you can print out this mail or request an official letter stating this commitment... That will be great. Meanwhile I'm also applying to the school, would you share your GRE score and cgpa with me?

Thanks.

Hello everyone,
I got an admission (fall 2020) Msc Agricultural and Environmental Systems at North Carolina A&T University with NO Funding.
I wrote mails to faculty and grad co-ord, and I got this reply from one of the faculty:

Hello Bleep,

First, congrats on your admission. If you are able to secure a visa, I can offer you a Teaching Assistantship in one of my classes. As a TA, you will be paid $8,000/semester but it will be contingent on you getting a visa. I hope this helps.

All the best!

Please, what should I do?

Studies is going on fine. Fall semester course work and exams are done, I am just trying to get some research done in my rotation lab before the start of Spring semester. I check the thread but don't usually comment. How is your admission process going?
I'm glad you're enjoying your stay and research....
I'm still a prospective test taker. Don't mind me jor! I ought to have written d test some couple of months ago but I was a little bit lazy, nervous and scared. My reading pattern was epileptic and irregular. for me, studying while having a job are two parallel lines...they aren't adding up at all...boredom and fatigue set in easily...but glory be to God, I've been inspired by folks here....study has fully commenced.
I'm okay with the quant after watching magoosh tutorial and using almost all d recommended books in your tips. started studying for verbal and AWA 2 days ago...
Then, will do alot of practice test before writing d exam around March,2018 against fall '19 for Phd... still have alot of time tho!

MY US student F1 Visa approved today, just this morning. All i can say is Alhamdulillahi. I'm very very grateful to those who helped. So here's my transcript.

Interview was scheduled for 6:30am.
Was directed to the old lady after she dished out blue paper for the two people before me. i just kept my cool.

VO: good morning
Me: good morning

VO: Pass your documents pls
I did

VO: How old are you
Me: 26

VO: Do you have a Bsc
Me: Yes i have a Bsc in Mech Eng

VO: when did you graduate
Me: 2014

VO: So what have you been doing doing since then.
Me: after my NYSC i have been working at XYZ company.

VO: so how many schools did you apply to?
Me: three ma

VO: and how many admits
Me: 3 admits (Vo looks suprised)

VO: so why did you choose this particular school (Mississippi state Uni)?
Me: i lost concentration for a bit she was trying to help me say something about the Curriculum i said no Ma and smiled. then answered that the faculty the Mech dept of the school had extended industrial experience compared to other schools. she smiled wink

VO: who's sponsoring you?
Me: My Dad

VO: what does he do?
Me: He owns a Haulage company.

VO: Do you have any relatives in the us.
Me: No i don't

VO: You would be needing this Passes my I-20 and white paper

I feel the interview process depends on Grace, confidence, and also your effort put in the entire admission process. The guy before me scored 288 in his GRE and i think she(VO) wasn't okay with that score but didn't get what course he was going for.
I can't say how much this thread helped me. To all those who have contributed, i say a big Thank You.

congratulations on your visa.best wishes.
did you submit unofficial scanned transcript during admission process
or
the school requested for official transcript during the admission process?
Thanks.

Appointment: 7am
Remark: It can only be God. Gods grace and favour with prayers.
Appreciation: I appreciate all NL family, all that stood by me, Mr Texrem, Mr John, all that message me and make comment on my denied transcript. You are to much. And most importantly. I give it all to God.

I got to the embassy around 5:30 am. Skipping to the checking point. My name was note found on the book for scheduled interview. I was asked to go sit down(20-30 minute thereabout) , for my mind, I said I am done today. Yet I fight it back in my spirit. I was later called up that my name dey system, so I was cleared to go. Got to the judgement room for screening and biometric. Submit docs for screening, then hurried to the rest room to do the usual and pray once more because I already met and seen people wey dey frown face with blue paper. For inside toilet, I dey hear my name, lagbaja come to window 14, I sit down for rest room dey do d tin dey go. Finally I came out after 5min. The whole room put eye on me, na u dem dey call since. I hurried to 14, she then ask me to bring my doc. Is this how to fill a form, na wetin she ask, she then ask me some questions I replied and she typed. I knew say na my ds160 she was referring to. I forgot biometric, I was later called out of line by the Cgi to go out of line to go do biometric. I return. Now to window 4. She's in her 30s I suppose.

Vo: good morning(smiling)
Me: morning and how was your night?
Vo: very fine and yours
Me: its very lovely
Vo: your doc please
Me: passing the documents. Here it is
Vo: why are you going to the US?
Me: (I said you are finished today for my mind, cos I don rehearse answer to this question) I am going to the US for my masters degree at Montana State University (cut in)
Vo: oh...smiling. I see .
Vo: so are u married
Me: no
Vo: any kids
Me: no
Vo : so what course u going for and who is sponsoring
Me: mathematics, full scholarship and GTA
Vo: what were u doing in Italy
Me I answered
Vo: also in Bulgaria
Me: I answered.
Vo: what's the derivative of acceleration?
Me: (for my mind, I was like is she playing with me) I pause for a minute, look at her in the eye, smile, she smile back, then gave her the answer. She then smiled the more and brought out white paper, and start saying all their grammar after three working days so so and so. No question about my first denial a week ago.

God settled my case. My case is different. It can only be God. Thank you all
congratulations! Best wishes.
Did u evaluate your transcripts for admission at Montana state university?

The institutional email address for referees is not compulsory for most schools in the US whereas certain schools in Canada and Germany would not accept anything else so one can still make do with generic email address. Although, if your referee is in academics you might want to talk to the referee because most universities have provisions for staff email but a number of staff don't avail themselves of the opportunity.

One thing to note is that the generic email address of the referess should be in the form of first name.lastname@whatever.com. This also applies to applicants an email address such as Adewale.Emeka looks more professional compared to ridsan4real @ example.com (Not saying that is your email address oooo)

IMPORTANT: The reason institutional mail is is preferred is not far fetched. One only need to read some pages back on this thread to see where potential applicant were discussing using fake referee email addresses. As much as I empathize with the hurdles applicants go through to obtain LOS, I am totally against this. This type of duplicity has far reaching implications. Apart from the potential pitfalls for the applicant if this is uncovered, the name of Nigeria has been soiled abroad in almost all spheres of life that blacklisting our country in graduate admission circle would reckless and imprudent. Sorry I sabi talk too much
Thanks for this. God bless!

Good morning Nairalander I'm new on this thread....pls how do I apply to U.s.a schools for masters
1) You can register for gre as soon as you are ready and prepared to take the exam. Its done online at www.ets.org. You can also get all the information you need about the exam on the website. You will get adequate materials to prepare for the exam here https://www.dropbox.com/sh/t9ot6d07hp1lkm7/AADL_dTihjEvNBRCBsmAcoXja?dl=0 . Proceed to this thread to learn from people's experience about the exam
https://www.nairaland.com/1832477/how-achieve-high-scores-
gre/44#39955826

Go to this link and download how you can ace the GRE
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-ii97JplpxMTVhRZGplOEhPaVE/view?usp=sharing

TOEFL is an English test required by some US universities. tho, some schools waive due to d fact that Nigeria is an Anglophone country but u can write it if you have d capability as it will increase your chances of getting assistantship.
For toefl, all you need are the speaking noteful videos, the ets toefl guide is enough to ace the exam for other sections. Just download the toefl ETS Guide from there website and the simulation test.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/45tvc3ifi8wh8sh/AACXR5j6l3nsWK8vZx5P28TVa?dl=0

2) Honestly, If I were you I will plan towards Fall, more opportunities open up in Fall because that's the main admission season in the US. However, you can still meet up with spring but everything will be at a rush which doesn't always help you to put in a good application.
3) Nobody knows how to write SOP until they start. It takes about 3weeks-4weeks to write a good worth graduate school SOP. The SOP is just as important as your gre score and CGPA.
4) In life it is always good to know how to fish than to always ask for fish from a fisherman, learn how to use google for some public knowledge questions. A quick google search would have given you the meaning of LOR. I am not discouraging you from asking questions but always try your best to research about your curiosity first, Infact no excuse for ignorance. LOR is letter of recommendation. Most times, you need 3 LORs from your undergraduate Lecturers.
5)In summary, go and prepare for gre to boost your chances of admit and funding. Few things in life are certain, admit and funding isn't one of them but you can only do your part and leave the rest to God.
The following link will help you in chasing your graduate school dream

Oga, read my earlier post. I said "Her only bet are schools that do not accept GRE". And clearly
Kean University does not. So with 0 GRE masquellet would still gain admission and funding perhaps. Let's call a spade a spade, enough of this unnecessary debate, 291 will never ever secure full funding in a school that requires GRE.

http://grad.kean.edu/masters-programs/computer-information-systems
I tried to avoid this unnecessary argument but it seems, we need to get somethings clear.
whether Kean university requires 0 or 291 GRE score, d aforementioned person is already on a full GA in US school. it's non of our business to determine d factor that got him/her that. And besides Full scholarship ride is dependent on so many factors apart from d GRE...what about those who have/had stellar profile and still didn't get into a safe school? Bro, we've seen it here! Yes, I got ur point,if he/she has a great GRE score, it might increase someone chances of securing a full funding in top US schools...
My best friend scored 298 and he's currently on a full funding ride at Georgia Southern University (and his dept requires GRE score)..He never expected it, but, it happened! Alas!
Tho, I'm still a prospective candidate but that's my 2cents.
No disrespect bro.
Shalom!
