Family / Some People Will Always Be Incompatible by rien05(f): 3:06pm On Jan 02, 2022 |
When I think about some issues people have in marriages or in relationships, I believe some people will always have issues no matter who they date or marry. Many will say "find your type and find peace". I still believe some people will always give trouble and headaches. They are just built to be horrible, petty or "wahalaful". They only get lucky when they find someone who loves them regardless and is willing to overlook or bear with their attitudes. I know we all have our annoying unbearable sides but some people are just a handful when it comes to these matters and I dont feel they will do well in any relationship unless they work on themselves. Career / That Missing Piece by rien05(f): 7:04pm On Oct 07, 2021 |
That Missing Piece Each time I felt incomplete, I began to question my purpose, my happiness as compared to others, and why I was feeling so much pressure to succeed. Some of the questions I constantly asked myself were "why can't I do my masters, why can't I work in Chevron or ExxonMobil". I started to think that there was a generational course affecting me and it was holding me back from the goodness of life. I found it hard finishing what I started, always quitting halfway due to situations beyond my control. I hadn't learnt how to motivate myself and so I ended up wallowing in self-pity most of the time. Even my relationship with the one I was with didn't help either. A relationship I prayed to God to help me end. This relationship isolated me and, took friends away from me. I felt my world was crashing and I couldn't do anything about it. I was scared to dream big. Giving up easily gave me a kind of peace. I had a vision to do my masters but it could not be anything related to Geology (my first degree). I just wanted to upskill by all means. I thought a post graduate degree would pave the way for me to get a multinational job, as I had missed one due to this reason. Well, missing this one opportunity was not due to not having a certificate but primarily due to the lack of business management skills. I wanted to do my masters abroad but didn't have the resources. So sadly, I watched my university classmates get scholarships to study abroad each year. I started questioning my luck. I had applied for a Chevening Scholarship three times and once for a Commonwealth scholarship. At that time, I had gotten about four admissions into universities in the UK but couldn't take them up due to a lack of funds. As the years passed by, the quest and thought of doing my masters abroad became far-fetched. I decided to let go of that thought and let nature take its course. Well, I couldn't let nature take its course for long. The desire for a higher degree kept burning inside me. So, I decided to focus my attention on Nigerian universities, University of Lagos to be precise. And then again, I was faced with another dilemma. I had a full time job and my work environment wasn't so friendly. I thought to myself, that it would be very challenging if I left work to concentrate on a full-time masters, and it would also be too stressful if I opted for part-time studies. I didn't want to start a full-time masters and be a burden to my family, even though I had saved up to cover school fees. My issue then was how I would cope with every other living expenses. So, I let the dream linger, waiting for the day when the stars would align. Things took a new turn when I got a new job and a colleague told me about a new American university that was 100% online with flexible monthly tuition payments. I was so glad to finally hear about an international university I could afford, and things got even better. My sister offered to pay all my tuition fees. This was a huge breakthrough for me, as I was going to be the first person to have an MBA degree in my family. So, I went online and searched for Nexford. I completed the application online and was later contacted by an Admissions Officer who carefully explained the admission requirements. For me, it was very fulfilling moment knowing that I had everything required, including my transcript. All that they needed was for me to send my transcript directly to them. That was how I successfully went through the application process and finally got admitted into Nexford University. The orientation program was easy and straight to the point, and I was able to complete it before the commencement of my MBA program. My academic journey so far, has been awesome. I have learnt a lot that I've put into practice. Most importantly, I feel this joy within that made me feel like I had just been given a ticket to a successful future. Indeed, when there is life, there is hope. This Nexford program has helped me build confidence in myself, even in the things I thought I wasn't good at. I just feel there is something bigger coming my way. Sometimes, the key to one door unlocks others as well. There is so much joy when the things we planned and hoped for all fall into place. 4 Likes 1 Share |

celeb4reallife: My 8-5 is an entirely different job. This one is a side hustle for me, which I said doesn't affect my day job since it's flexible. This guy also works in a multinational and has his side gig. It's this side gig that I handle for him. I would never use his documents against him. I meant that it's also my responsibility to safe guard his documents and scan back new documents, meaning its work too. |

Investment / He Stopped Paying Me As Agreed by rien05(f): 3:47pm On Feb 17, 2020 |
I will like to hear your opinion on this issue. So last year (2019) January, I had an agreement with this guy to work for him on a very flexible schedule. Although I had my 8-5 which he knew about and job with him was very flexible. I was meant to handle all the registrations like DPR, NSITF, TCC, etc, even the monthly VAT filings and other administrative work like responding to emails, handling write-ups for the website and other duties that he may require of me. We agreed on 50k monthly as basic but he would pay for any logistics involved in case I had to do some errands or some registrations that required document siting. This went well for about 3 months, then he started delaying the payments and I would have to jokingly remind him. Then the work load reduced, so my main duty was now the monthly VAT filing which I got someone to be doing. 5k was the guy's fee monthly. I was responsible for all the negotiation. All he did was release money if the amount was pleasing. He always never wants to get involved with any of the guys I used for any runs. He wanted limited access to himself. My salary was no longer coming in as agreed. In two months he might just send me 25k. Sometimes in three months all I'll get would be 25k., which means he won't pay me for some months but just send me the 25k in a particular month after I would have stylishly asked. The surprising thing is that, he would always pay the 5k for the service of VAT filing and also any amount due for the actual VAT for the month without arguing much but would hardly pay me. Most times when I and the VAT guy do the calculations of tax for that month that he's meant to pay, it might get up to 250k and when I tell my guy he just pays. So recently, we were meant to do one of these filings and everything amount to 850k. Although the actual figure was meant to be up to 2M but the VAT guy worked things with the guys at FIRS and it reduced to that amount. When I told him he was happy and was still asking if I was sure that money would cover everything. He just wanted to try the negotiation thing and asked me to negotiate to 700k. So I went back to the VAT guy and renegotiated for myself to 600k, and I also went back to my guy and told him I negotiated to 750k. He always doesn't ask me to negotiate, I just do it on my own for him. Although this time he did. I also told the VAT guy to compensate me for using him always, so he agreed to give me 50k. In all I made 200k. If my guy's taxes had amounted to be like 1.5M, I'm sure he would have paid. I just didn't want to take advantage of him. Moreover, my office has been owing us for a while now. My conscience beats me. Have I done wrong? We agreed 50k monthly which he stopped paying a long time ago and I'm too shy to talk about it with him, although I fear that he might say it's because the work load has reduced. I'm in possession of all his original documents and still scan the new ones that come in to send the soft copies to him. Sincerely, my plan this year is to negotiate twice on every fee we are paying. One for him and the other for him. What do you think guys? |

Career / Should I Stop Work And Do A Masters Programme? by rien05(f): 2:45pm On Jul 07, 2017 |
Hello House, Kindly advise me on which way to follow. I currently earn 150k per month and I am thinking of enrolling for an MBA in Unilag. My headache is I will have to pick the full time option because it is cheaper and has better lecture hours, which means I have to stop work. Classes are from 9am-2pm weekly. The fee is about 200k. I am skeptical about the part time option because its classes are during the evenings from 4pm to 8pm. I live and work on the island(Ajah) and close by 5pm. My boss won't allow me close by 3pm. He might agree to close at 4pm but even if he agrees to 3pm, there's no way I will get to Unilag before 5:30pm(on a no traffic day) by public transport. And lets say I finish lectures by 8pm, with the traffic and all I might be getting home by 11pm or so(dangerous for a girl). And it will so tell on me because the stress will be too much.(I am already a Lekpa I don't want to disappear). The koko again is that the fees for part time is about 500k.(I just started earning 150k ooh and also ponzi finish my money at the beginning of the year. GREED. don't blame me ohh, many people fell victim with me). The last option is the Executive MBA. Classes are on saturdays from 8pm to 4pm. The fee is about 2Million. I won't even go there. If I say I should do another Masters course it will have to be a science course which are all full time. My question is should I take the risk to forfeit my job and do my MBA? The forms are out. I want to prepare my mind before buying the form(N22,500). I really want an upgrade to my certificate. I also need money to keep me going because there is no one to lean on. Everybody is forming OYO. And I also don't want to regret embracing an opportunity now that I have money for fees. No one knows tomorrow. Please advise oooohhhhhh mbok 3 Likes 3 Shares |
