CrimeBaby Disappears Mysteriously During Naming In Ogun by Rilwayne001(op): 3:25pm On Jul 27, 2015
Anxiety and confusion enveloped the rustic Inuosegba community in Abeokuta as residents discovered items suspected to be severed human wrist, school pupils’ bags and uniforms in a locked building while searching for a missing 18 months old baby.

The 18 months baby identified as Hezekiah Opeyemi Ogundele was taken to a naming ceremony at Inuosegba community around 4pm on Sunday by his brother but while the ceremony was to commence, the baby was discovered to have disappeared mysteriously.

The Nation gathered that the naming ceremony was put on hold indefinitely while apprehensive guests and residents began to comb surrounding bushes and home, searching for the baby.

The mother of the baby, 26 years old Fashion designer, Elizabeth Ogundele, said her elder sister gave birth and was preparing to the naming when it was discovered that her son had disappeared.

In the course of the search, they discovered that a building near the venue of naming, severed wrist and school children’s items were found in a suspicious building within the neighbourhood, forcing the residents to place the property under surveilance as there was no one inside at the time.

The Nation gathered that later in the day, a commercial motorcycle operator visited the building in the wee hour and was arrested and handed over to the Police at the Lafenwa Divisional Police Headquarters, Abeokuta.

The Nation visited the building believed to be owned by one Chief Olasile Ifayemi, about 26 years old young man, and witnessed vandalising the over seven room bungalow and desecrated his shrine inside and over a dozen pots of fetish objects.

Operatives the Speacial Anti – Robbery Squad (SARS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were sighted making frantic effort to control the enraged crowd bent on bringing down the building.

PoliticsSoyinka, Better wine connoisseur Than Political Critic, Obasanjo Insists by Rilwayne001(op): 9:45am On Jul 27, 2015
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that he
maintains his view, as expressed in his three-volume
autobiography, My Watch, that Nobel laureate, Prof.
Wole Soyinka, has better expertise in wine matters than
in political analysis.

In the book, Obasanjo wrote, “For Wole, no one can be
good, nor can anything be spot-on politically except
that which emanates from him or is ordained by him.
His friends and loved ones will always be right and
correct, no matter what they do or fail to do. He is
surely a better wine connoisseur and a more successful
aparo (guinea fowl) hunter than a political critic.”

However, last year December, shortly after the book
went public, Soyinka had, in a piece titled, ‘Watch and
Pray, Watch and Prey’, vehemently protested such a
description (of him), calling Obasanjo ‘’an expert liar,
who lies to boost his ego.’’

But in an interview granted a private television station,
Channels, on a programme tagged, ‘Book Club’,
Obasanjo, while holding on to his words, said what he
wrote about Soyinka was purely his view, adding that
Soyinka did not have to agree with him.

The former President, who added that he did not write
the book to please anybody, also disclosed that there
was a lingering feud between him and the Nobel
laureate, who, he said, had vowed that the differences
between the two of them would not be resolved on
earth.

Obasanjo, however, said he had told Soyinka that, in
that case, whichever of them gets to heaven first should
wait at the gate to welcome the other.

He said, “Wole Soyinka is a gifted man. I have always
acknowledged that but he is a bad politician and I have
also always said that. That is my own point of view. He
may agree with it, he may not agree with it.

“But having said that, I also, in my book, bring out Wole
Soyinka as I see him and that’s my own judgment; that’s
my own perspective of him. He may agree, he may not
agree but anybody can bring out his own perspective of
me.

“For instance, I know that if I want somebody to give
me the best wine, one of the people I will go to is Wole
Soyinka and I know he has a taste for good wine and I
said that in the book.”

Obasanjo also dismissed a rejoinder to his book titled,
‘Watch the Watcher’, written by the Publicity Secretary
of the Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, saying the book was
not worth being kept in anybody’s library.

Obasanjo, who said Odumakin was paid by former
President Goodluck Jonathan to write the book, said he
could not be worried because Odumakin did not write
anything that will last.

Obasanjo said, “Yinka Odumakin was hired to do the
hatchet job and he did it.
“It was part of the campaign of Goodluck Jonathan and
he did serve the purpose of Goodluck Jonathan. But
whether Goodluck Jonathan gained from it or Yinka
Odumakin gained from it, well, it’s now left to history.

“But how should I worry about that? That Yinka
Odumakin was hired by Goodluck Jonathan to do a job,
which he did and Yinka Odumakin didn’t write anything
to last. He wrote current affairs, not a book that
anybody will seriously want to keep in his library and
that’s the way I see it. And a book should be something
that somebody wants to keep in the library.”

PoliticsObama Calls For Gay Rights In Africa by Rilwayne001(op): 5:08pm On Jul 25, 2015
US President Barack Obama on Saturday called for gay rights in Africa, comparing homophobia to racial discrimination he had encountered in the United States. In a joint press conference after talks with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta, Obama also pushed a tough message on Kenyan corruption, the civil war in South Sudan, controversial elections in Burundi and the fight against Somalia’s Al-Qaeda-affiliated Shebab militants. “I’ve been consistent all across Africa on this. When you start treating people differently, because they’re different, that’s the path whereby freedoms begin to erode. And bad things happen,” he said in a moment of open disagreement with the Kenyan leader.

AFP PHOTO US President Barack Obama on Saturday called for gay rights in Africa, comparing homophobia to racial discrimination he had encountered in the United States. “When a government gets in the habit of treating people differently those habits can spread. As an African- American in the United States I am painfully aware of what happens when people are treated differently under the law. I am unequivocal on this.” He said that for “a law-abiding citizen who is going about their business, and working at a job and obeying the traffic signs and not harming anybody, the idea they will be treated differently or abused because of who they love is wrong, full stop.” Homophobia is on the rise in Africa, and for his part Kenyatta only repeated that for him, gay rights was “a non-issue.” “There are some things that we must admit we don’t share. It’s very difficult for us to impose on people that which they themselves do not accept. This is why I say for Kenyans today the issue of gay rights is really a non- issue,” Kenyatta said. Obama arrived in Kenya late on Friday, making his first visit to the country of his father’s birth since he was elected president. – Corruption, conflict, security cooperation – Obama also had firm words for Kenya on corruption, describing it as “the single biggest impediment to Kenya growing even faster,” and saying people were being “consistently sapped by corruption at a high level and at a low level.” Obama said there was a need for “visible prosecutions,” to show citizens action was being taken. “They don’t have to be a forensic accountant to know what is going on,” Obama said, giving the example of officials driving around in expensive cars or building houses far above what their salaries would allow. The two leaders also pledged greater cooperation against the Shebab, who have stepped up attacks and recruitment inside Kenya. “We have systematically reduced the territory that Al- Shebab controls. We have been able to decrease their effective control within Somalia and have weakened those networks operating here in East Africa. That doesn’t mean the problem is solved,” Obama said. “We can degrade significantly the capacity of the terrorist organisations, but they can still do damage.” The president called for an end to the 19-month-old civil war in South Sudan, urging the country’s warring leaders to “put their country firs.” The conflict there is set to be high on the agenda for the next stage of his visit to Ethiopia and the African Union.
“The situation is dire. We agree that the best way to stop the fighting is for South Sudanese leaders to put their country first with a peace agreement that ends the fighting,” Obama said.
This week’s elections in the central African nation of Burundi, which delivered a controversial third term to President Pierre Nkurunziza, were “not credible,” Obama said.
“We also discussed Burundi, where the recent elections weren’t credible. We are calling on the government and opposition to come together in a dialogue that leads to a political solution to the crisis and avoids the loss of more innocent life,” Obama said.

Why would I be hating on your happiness? You should know that my rantings the other day were all jokes.
