Religion / Re: If Jews Reject Jesus, Why Should An African Accept Jesus? by rinrin23(f): 1:05pm On Sep 08, 2014
Sanchez01: Jesus is really giving the likes of you sleepless nights... The earlier you take Him in, the better.

Its you people that are giving us sleepless nights.

How can we sleep knowing that your kind are in the majority. As a country most crucial decisions are made to favor the majority. Stereotypes are created out of the majority.

So if the majority, which is you and yours, cant think for yourselves, how can you be trusted to make quality decisions. I have to live here with you people, leadership is in your hands, security is in your hands, healthcare is in your hands, my unborn kids' futures are in your hands.

It's not the Jesus factor that's a bother, its the unthinking- unreasoning-crowdmentality- western is superior-holyspirit leads me- jesus is in control- lazyass nature behind it thats worrisome.

How can I sleep??!

mstik: Errm, First of all, let me point out that Christianity is not a thing of race or ethnicity
Jesus came to die for the whole of mankind, and anyone who accepts him, irrespective of race, will be saved
However, salvation primarily was for the Jews. Unfortunately for them, He was not accepted. They never expected the messiah to be of a lowly birth, to be an ordinary carpenter. They were expecting the messiah to arrive with pomp and pageantry, and destroy their oppressors, the Romans.
Now back to your question. Why should Africans accept Him?
Nobody is compelled to be a Christian, It's a person decision that is made. Whether its an Asian, African, or American, Christianity is not just another 'concept' or 'doctrine' that people are being forced to swallow.
I believe that when someone discovers the truth, they happily accept and hold on to it.
Christianity is not another western concept that you're making it to seem

I believe the question is if they didn't accept him- THEIR messiah, and STILL don't why should you?. If someone is claiming to be your father and you know he isnt, your family knows he isnt, your country knows he isnt, why should races of people around the world claim he is your father on your behalf and call you wrong with no proof.

If Toyota tells you the engine you have is fake, why should you claim superior knowledge over the makers (in this case, the owners).

Yes, no one is compelled, but thousands of years ago many were- and harshly, even inhumanly. You never know what you might find if you look farther back into your lineage and history. You might have ancestors that would be rolling in their graves over the thought of you worshipping a god that they refused to accept and were killed over, or a god who they pretended to venerate just so they could get access to quality education. An education they hoped would lead you to the truth through logic and deep thought (and plain common sense most of the time).

'Truth' is to be continuously sought out for, and those that have found it know it's not in a church or in a bible, or in any man-made religion. And they hope that you find this truth too by questioning. Hence the question. It's there to make you think. Not to put up a defence, think.

morefire: Just listened to two supposed "educated" people arguing about the fight between Israel and Palestine and it is very pathetic how an average Christian in Nigeria is quick to Support the Israelis while an average Muslim supports the other side. It is even more pathetic when they enter into arguments as to who is right or wrong and how the whole fight has been turned into a religious war.
for the ignoramus still arguing blindly please note that Israel is not even a christian community, Judaism is the religion of the majority of citizens and according to the country's Central Bureau of Statistics, in 2005 the population was 76.1% Jewish, 16.2% Muslim, 2.1% Christian, and 1.6% Druze, with the remaining 3.9% not classified by religion.
For the Muslim brother thinking the Christians are fighting them and want a revenge I guess now you know that there are more of you guys out there than the Christians so fact is you have more of your people dying.
lets just read more before jumping into a BRT argument.
God bless everybody on earth irrespective of the race or religion
#PEACE

That's exactly what it is, a BRT argument. I've learnt that not everyone is as educated as they seem.

It's unfortunate that people choose to pick sides over issues that do not directly affect them, and side people that neither know them nor care about their biases.

But seriously, this is not supposed to be funny?. I apologize then.

Kindly research how makeup is made and let me know at what point the blood is introduced. Also does this apply to pink lipstick? How do they change the color of the blood?

Also how is it that you've been worshipping this God that you believe created the universe and still be surprised that he knows Ijebu ode, is this because he is white and therefore should have no knowledge of lowly African people?.

Dragons don't exist, and in myths are depicted as having serpentine and reptilian features. Where did the hair come from?

Cobweb attack? . I'm concerned, this sounds like a classic case of karma.
From your narration it looks like he's the one walking into these webs. Poor spiders, all that intricately webbed -hard work, does he not know that's how they get their food.

How cruel of him to crumble their food supply and expect no consequences. angry smiley

Religion / Re: If Starting A Church Isn't A Business, Why Does It... by rinrin23(f): 9:47pm On Jul 28, 2014
tonyayo1: I am a Christian by birth not by choice, same as so many of us. I'm a member of one of the most popular Church in this country but with what I do witness in my church and other churches, made me to believe that Christianity sucks. I got thousand and one questions to ask my brethren in the house but I'll ask but a few...
1. Why do Christian Churches have branches? E.g One city more than ten branches.

The same reason fast food restaurants have many branches. More branches= more attendees= more tithes and/or offerings

2. Why the pampering of Bible? To me the Book is like any printed Novel, we pamper it after what it passes through at the printing factory (imagine).

Because its "Holy"

3. Why do our pastor preach about things they are not sure of? E.g Christian God is the one true God and we'll reach him through jesus.

Does it matter?. People would believe anything .

4. Why are there so many different believes in Christianity? E.g Catholic, Sabbath, Jehovah Witness etc

The Bible/ Christian law apparently is open to varied interpretations.

5. Why does our big pastors live large while his congregations still struggle? What is he trying to achieve, they buy planes, security men guides them etc

If they were really struggling they would be wiser with their money. Or maybe it's the "give and it shall be given unto you" principle

WHY SO!
Like I said earlier I got thousand and one questions to ask, but if this few ones I mentioned above can be explained, I'll be so much grateful. I'm just a student trying to learn.
Religion / Re: Let Us Pray For Nigeria!!! by rinrin23(f): 2:21pm On Jul 28, 2014
Did you know your Omniscient God knew you were going to type out this prayer before you did?. Don't stress, your God knows what's going on. He just chooses not to act. Deal with it. It's all part of "His Plan"

Can't describe someone/something I don't know.

Maybe if you provide any historical records of his doing/wrongdoings then I can describe him/it.

Also what exactly did this Lucifer do to be called a liar and a fool.

samflexxy: We have had so much about the end time, with so many bad and unspeakable things happening in this world I now think the end time is near!

Yes so many unspeakable things. In this age of information, ignorance is at its highest. I believe end times are here, and it began in Nigeria with the death of reasoning.

It's posts like these that make me so afraid of a massive outbreak in Nigeria. Can we please stop the ignorance, please!!.

If you're infected please don't take your contagious self to a pastor that's going to be laying hands on others too and preaching to a congregation. This is how diseases spread.

HIV/AIDS has been around for decades and your pastors haven't cured it. Ebola is highly contagious and deadly! Can we please not take any risks, please!!

I'm really so scared of you people, please don't let your ignorance be the death of millions.

Seriously though some of the accounts I read and hear about seem utterly unreasonable

Maybe I'm not a real christain duh tongue
I've received tongue lashing since yesterday because I told my SIL that the visiting pastor who came to their church yesterday might be a fake one.

They've said prayers for my blaspheming soul and asked for forgiveness on my behalf. cheesy

The guy said he prayed for a woman who had fibroid and she passed it through her stool/excrement.
Like WTF!?
It would make a lil more sense if she said she had massive bleeding and pushed out the growth through her vaginaa. Hard to believe but a lil more easy on the ears than the story he told.

So I asked what's the connection between the intestines and the uterus? How did the fibroid leave the womb where it was embedded and transfered to her rectum so she could push it out via faeces?

I know fibroid is something that bleeds terribly and she couldn't have had such a massive miraculous surgery without a drop of blood lost.

But I guess that what makes it a miracle right?

Anyway I had to stop trying to explain my thoughts to them in order not to invoke the 'wrath' of God on the family with my blasphemy against a holy man of God undecided

I haven't seen any such miracle before.
I don't believe them

What scares me is how the congregation just takes it all in. You would think the pastor would have the common decency to at least research his story.

I guess it's just one of the many things the "God of impossibilities" makes possible.

Religion / Re: There Has To Be God !!! by rinrin23(f): 4:55pm On Jul 21, 2014
Well if you choose to believe that there is a God, then you have to also believe that he created all the situations that you have just listed.

Isaiah 45:7 "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things."

So are you saying there has to be a God to save you from a situation he created?

What you really need to contend with is whether or not you want to be associated with/worship this God.

Also decide if you want to pray your way out of these situations and thereby maybe strenghten your faith (either with a joyous 'miracle' from God or a sad 'its God's will')

OR

Will you strengthen your own character by accepting that life comes with ups & downs; dealing with the situation and thereby learning from it?

Religion / Dinner, Drinks And Religion by rinrin23(f): 12:02pm On Jul 21, 2014
A dinner with friends slowly morphed into a heated conversation about the supernatural and the "power of the name Jesus", which when called could silence all demons and counter spiritual attacks. I listened as they spoke about waking up and demons holding them down in their sleep.

I listened as each from different sects of Christianity tip toed around their beliefs and selected a common enemy- the Muslim, and how deluded they were with their lack of understanding of what "true fasting" was. And how these poor deluded lovers of Allah have a veil of delusion around their eyes that stops them from reasoning and seeing the falsities in their sacred book and beliefs.

I listened, smiled and nodded appropriately. I nodded in understanding, I smiled in recognition. These I did because I understood. I too have had these thoughts, I too have stuck to my beliefs feeling lucky to have been born on "the right side" and equally lucky to have been "born again" and "under the grace" of the "new covenant with Christ".

But what they didn't see was a woman who has questioned her beliefs and sought the truth; searched through history and understood: the basis of religion, law, power and control; how wars are won and how religions are spread; how diverse the human race is and how religious supremacy is a much worse ideological cancer than racial supremacy. What they didn't see was me fighting back the urge to speak to them about these 'demons' holding them down- teach them about sleep paralysis, release them from their fear of spiritual enemies attacking them; teach them about the power of the mind, and the power of Self. Most of all was me fighting the urge to confess that I too saw them -strong intelligent women deluded with the same veil around their minds.

However all I could bring myself to do was smile and nod, and hope that someday they too would question their beliefs and come to know the truth; and thus live a life of spiritual independence and an empowerment that comes from knowing that it was -their strength that got them thought difficult times, their intelligence that got them to the height of their careers, and their mind and soul that keeps them alive.
