Victory for Adamawa! The NDC governorship primaries have spoken, and the people have chosen.

Heartfelt congratulations to Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed "Binani" on winning the NDC Adamawa State governorship primaries. Your dedication to the grassroots, consistency, and vision for a better Adamawa have earned the trust of delegates across all 21 LGAs.

This win belongs to every NDC member, supporter, and believer in a stronger Adamawa. From Mubi to Yola, Gombi to Numan — the message is clear.

May this be the start of greater things. Wishing you wisdom, strength, and overwhelming success as we march toward the general election.

The grassroots have spoken. Together, we build a stronger NDC and a better Adamawa.
APC and their criminal minds will not have their way this time around both at the national and state level. I know Tinubu, Wike and co have perfected their rigging but God will show them why he's God. Nigeria must move forward.

PoliticsRe: Akpabio Scores Tinubu High On Economic Reforms, Security by RISQUE: 6:13am On May 29
adenigga:
Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Thursday said President Bola Tinubu has performed “excellently well” on economic reforms and security while vowing the National Assembly’s full cooperation on unfinished business, including state police, ramped-up crude output and infrastructure.

The Senate President spoke after leading a delegation of Senate Principal Officers on a traditional Sallah homage to President Tinubu at his Lagos residence to celebrate Eid al-Kabir.[/i

[i]“We came here to felicitate the President and also wish him Barka the Salah on this Eid-el-Kabir and to also pray for him for continuous good health and wisdom and pray for our nation, for those in captivity to be released and for peace to reign in Nigeria—not just now, throughout his tenure as President of the country and beyond,”
Akpabio said.

He praised Tinubu’s economic overhauls, singling out the end of multiple exchange rates, false subsidies, and “future clauses” that had drained Nigeria’s oil revenues.

“We appreciate Mr. President for his reforms, which have done a lot to reposition Nigeria on the trajectory of growth, constrain the kind of economy that we met when he came on board in 2023,” Akpabio said.

“It’s very difficult to grow a non-oil economy because what we met on ground, we had what they call future sells and we’re not making money on the crude oil that we produce because of future sells. And then we also had a situation of continuous expenses in the country as a result of what they call waste and means—which in a layman’s language, was expending money and printing money without earning income. He has stopped all that.

“We met multiple exchange rates. He has stopped all that. We met a situation of false subsidies. He has stopped all that,” he added.

Akpabio also highlighted the end of long fuel queues as one of the president’s most visible achievements.

“And we also appreciate the fact that in the last three years, he has brought the very long queues that people used to experience in filling stations to an end. And tangible things that people may not see,” he said.

The Senate President expressed deep admiration for Tinubu’s tax harmonisation drive, calling it transformative.

“And the harmonization of taxes in Nigeria. Something that even taxes that some were as far back as 1939. So for me, I think he has done excellently well,” Akpabio said.

He assured the President that the national assembly would stand with him always.

“But we are saying that a lot still needs to be done. And we are assuring of the cooperation of the lawmakers in Nigeria, particularly National Assembly,” he said.

“I will stand by him so long as everything he proposes is positive for the future growth of this country,” Akpabio declared.

On security, he said there is no part of the country that the flag of any insurgents is being hoisted.

Asked where Tinubu must improve, Akpabio pointed to security—but refused to give a wholly negative assessment.

“We can’t do it alone. National Assembly will assist him to ensure that we improve on the area of security. But it has actually improved,” he said.

“Except guerrilla warfare here and there. Attacks here and there. Because in reality, what we see now are insurgents going to areas of soft targets — schools. Going to churches. Going to mosques. And those areas that nobody would think security agents would not be there.”

“But he has done very well. There is no part of Nigeria today that you have the flag of any insurgents, whether Boko Haram, being hoisted,” he asserted.

“And then all those organised bomb blasts everywhere have been brought to an end. So the security services have done so well. But a lot still needs to be done. Because you know how it is. Nigeria is very vast. So, with a population of over 240 million, whenever something happens, outsiders do not know.

“That is a very big country. So they will say, ‘Oh, Nigeria, oh Nigeria, oh Nigeria.’ But they are areas of soft targets. Even on the fringes in terms of our boundaries.”

Akpabio said the National Assembly is actively crafting a regulatory framework for state policing, including a national state police commission.

“But we believe that working with him, the National Assembly can come up with a solution, a framework that will enable the states to also partake in securing the lives and properties of the citizens—and that is in the area of the state police,” he said.

“And we are looking at ways of creating a positive and not a negative state police and something that can have a national state police commission that will regulate the conduct of state policing and also promotion, training and all. So we will do our best to assist in that direction and sensitisation also.

“The citizens also need to know that they have to watch out for bad acts in their society because they all know it’s a very unfortunate situation, but we do know that the president is poised and the security services are poised, so that area will need serious improvement with all of us working together,” he added.

On police funding, the Senate President revealed concrete legislative action.
“Police in the country itself is a major issue that the National Assembly is looking at. You are actually looking at from 0.5 percent to one percent of revenue from the production account going into the police trust fund,” Akpabio said.

“That will be for police infrastructure and equipment. Of course, the states will also add their own.”

Akpabio highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects and the need to boost crude output now that the Dangote Refinery is absorbing significant volumes.

“And then the area of infrastructure is already ongoing and then of course we need to ramp up our crude oil production. Now that we have started selling crude in Naira and Dangote refinery is doing well and it’s taking a lot, so we need to improve on production to enable us also export to end foreign exchange to put in other sectors of the economy,” he said.

“We are still looking forward to foreign directives. We are also looking forward to direct investment in areas of agriculture and all that.”

PRESS RELEASE

May 28, 2026

*Omo-Agege joins NDC, to contest for Delta Central senatorial seat*

Six days after resigning from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Deputy President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has joined the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to give vent to his desire to return to the Senate.

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege will team up with Mr. Peter Obi, the party's presidential candidate.
In press statement he personally issued on Thursday, the Obarisi of Urhoboland declared:

"Today, I formally announce my decision to join the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

"This decision is the product of weeks of reflection, wide consultations, and honest conversations with the people I serve. I have consulted with my political associates nationwide, supporters, and stakeholders who are the backbone of our communities. Across all these engagements, one truth stood out: Deltans want leadership that listens first, acts with integrity, and delivers results that can be seen and felt in daily life.

"I thank the leadership of the NDC for reaching out and engaging me in this process: Senator Seriake Dickson, Leader and Founder; Senator Moses Cleopas, National Chairman; Governor Peter Obi, Presidential Aspirant; and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement and NDC Chieftain. Their commitment to building a credible, people-first alternative gives me confidence that the NDC is the right platform for Delta State and Nigeria.

"The NDC represents that kind of leadership. It is a party built on the principles of inclusion, accountability, grassroots participation, and true federalism. It is a platform where decisions are not made in closed rooms but through open consultation with stakeholders and members. It is a platform where public office is treated as a duty to the people, not a privilege for a few. After careful consideration, I am convinced that the NDC offers the clearest path to advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State, and Nigeria.

"On this platform, I will contest for the Delta Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections. Let me be clear: this is not about me. This is about the mandate you entrusted to me in 2019 and the renewed call from our people for my return to the Senate to provide effective representation. That call is loud, consistent, alive, and urgent. I cannot ignore it, and I will not betray the trust you have placed in me.

"Delta State holds a position of immense responsibility in Nigeria. We are among the largest producers of oil and gas, resources that have sustained the national economy for decades. Our agricultural lands are fertile and capable of feeding millions. Our business community has shown remarkable resilience despite harsh economic conditions. Our young people are educated, innovative, and ready to lead if given the opportunity. Yet the reality on the ground does not match this potential.

"In too many communities, roads have collapsed and remain impassable for months. Primary health centers lack drugs, equipment, and staff. Schools struggle with overcrowding and inadequate facilities. Young graduates return home without jobs, and small business owners battle a hostile environment and poor infrastructure. Meanwhile, federal allocations to Delta State have consistently run into hundreds of billions of naira annually. The gap between these resources and the lived reality of our people is unacceptable.

"Right now, too much of Delta’s wealth sits in CBN accounts while our people suffer from bad roads, collapsed hospitals, and abandoned communities. This is not governance. It is a failure of leadership and a betrayal of public trust. Deltans deserve better than press releases, billboards, and photo-ops. Nigeria deserves better than a political class that treats public office as a personal business.

"I believe this situation can and must change. Change requires a platform committed to discipline, transparency, and service. The National Democratic Congress was built for this moment. It stands for accountability, for justice, for inclusion, and for true federalism. It is the only platform strong enough to challenge the cycle of failure and return power to the people where it belongs. That is why I am joining the NDC.

"I know what it takes to build a political structure and make it competitive in Delta State. We did it before for the APC when many said it was impossible. We mobilized at the grassroots, organized our people, and changed the political equation. I bring that same resolve and experience to the NDC. Our immediate priority will be to strengthen the party from the ward level upward, register new members, and prepare a credible slate of candidates for the 2027 elections.

"I will not go to Abuja to warm the bench. I am going to fight for Delta Central, and as your senator, my focus will remain on delivering representation that matters. I will take the concerns of Delta Central directly to the National Assembly and ensure they are debated, addressed, and followed through. I will push for fair allocation of federal projects and resources to our senatorial district. I will work to ensure that every kobo released to Delta State is accounted for and applied to projects that improve the lives of our people. I will also advocate for policies that create jobs, support small and medium enterprises, improve agricultural productivity, and expand access to quality healthcare and education.

"I will represent Delta North, Delta South, and Delta Central with fairness and balance. A divided Delta is a weakened Delta. When we speak with one voice, Abuja listens. When we work together, we can secure the infrastructure, investments, and policies that our state deserves.

"Beyond the Senate, the NDC will field candidates for the governorship and other elective positions who understand the challenges of Delta State and have the competence, humility, and character to address them. Nigeria itself needs a reset. We need leadership that truly restores hope, protects citizens, grows the economy, and respects the rule of law. I will work tirelessly for the victory of our presidential candidate and for a government that puts Nigerians first.

"This is more than an election cycle. This is a defining moment for Delta State and for Nigeria. It is a choice between continuing with a system that rewards silence and mediocrity, or choosing a new direction built on accountability and service.

"To the youth of Delta State: your time is now. Do not accept the lie that you must wait your turn. Organize in your communities, register to vote, and make your voices impossible to ignore. Your energy, creativity, and courage are the most powerful tools we have to change this state.

"To the women who hold our families and communities together: mobilize your networks, your markets, your churches, and your neighborhoods. Your participation will determine the outcome of 2027.

"To our elders and traditional rulers: your wisdom has guided us through difficult times before. Speak now for the generation coming behind you. Your voice gives legitimacy and direction to this movement.

"And to every registered voter: your Permanent Voter’s Card is your greatest power. It is stronger than money, stronger than intimidation, and stronger than propaganda. Protect it, use it, and use it wisely in 2027.

"In 2027, we will end the era of excuses, empty promises, and leaders who vanish after elections. We will return power to the people of Delta State and to the people of Nigeria. "Together, under the banner of the National Democratic Congress, we will reclaim Delta State. Together, we will reclaim Nigeria.

"The work starts now. The time is now. The people are ready."

In real-world human data, a minor challenger will almost always accidentally or intentionally secure a handful of votes across thousands of polling locations due to local protest votes, errors, or family ties. Perfect "zero-vote" sweeps across massive populations are a classic hallmark of data that has been manually written into a spreadsheet rather than organically counted from ballot boxes. In 2019, the total number of delegates who voted for and against Ambode (1,043,754) was more than the number of votes in the election (956,220).

PoliticsRe: Rivers 2027: How Proven Loyalty Is Speaking For Kingsley Chida by RISQUE: 3:26pm On May 18
AmeboFeeds:
RIVERS 2027: HOW PROVEN LOYALTY IS SPEAKING FOR KINGSLEY CHIDA

By Thomas Taribo

There are two types of loyalty; true loyalty and strategic loyalty.
True loyalty is rare, and unambitious. True loyalty is unsaleable, it stays when all else leaves, because it has no exit clause, and convenience, but strategic loyalty is common because it’s rational, and transactional.

In politics, you need both to win. But when the fight gets real, only true loyalty stays. Howbeit , structurally, transactional loyalty leads to structural collapse. Evidentially , those who hold the structure of 2027, are those who did not scatter in 2023. However, loyalty is never one-sided, although it is not entrenched in keeping scores, it is designed to create reciprocal bonds.

True loyalty, the type demonstrated by Rt. Hon. Kingsley Chida in Rivers State works quietly, protectively, and defensively, without exposing or taking the credit.

Rt. Hon. Chida, understands from the onset that there are certain things that cannot be rushed without breaking them. That is why he can wait till eternity, removing the pressure that leads to the temptation of compromise, acknowledging also that any person who can wait till eternity does not need to lobby for tomorrow, for tomorrow naturally will come to him.

A man of uncommon fidelity, Rt. Hon. Chida builds trust, and keeps to his words, never betraying anyone.

His life of consistency gets him noticed, instead of lobbying, or negotiating, Rt. Hon. Chida choose silence, that type of silence that is strategic and unambitious.

Neither does he switch when the wind changes its direction, waiting for, what will be, to be, without leverage. Little wonder then that the structure remembers him. Indeed, Rt. Hon. OK Chida, matters more than the loudest campaigner.

While most politicians are screaming ahead of the 2027 election, heating up the polity, especially in Rivers States, with posters ablazing, forming camps, and running the race of relevance, one man stands out, chosing a different path, not chasing the microphones, nor cutting deals in the dark, but waiting, watching , and remaining truly loyal.

An unambitious personality, Rt. Hon. OK Chida, never pushes his name into every conversation, or threatens to walk away when he does not get his way.

In a state where loyalty is often transactional, Rt. Hon. Chida’s consistency stands out. His allegiance to the FCT Minister is not new, not seasonal, not convenient. It predates the current offices, the current titles, the current relevance. He has stayed when it was politically risky, and he has stayed when it became politically rewarding. This certainly is the difference between a fair-weather supporter and a proven ally.

A man of unbroken reputation, Rt. Hon. Chida walks with an unblemish, and unrivaled currency in Rivers' State politics, "OK Chida has never betrayed anyone since he was born.”

This currency becomes even more unequal considering the fact that historically, betrayal in the politics of Rivers State is the default story. Alliances shift with every cabinet reshuffle, turning yesterday’s foot soldiers into today’s critics.

Around Chief Wike's camp, among old Port Harcourt political hands, and even within the oppositions and traducers, the overwhelming consensus of opinion is the same; Rt. Hon. Chida keeps his word, without any leak, or double-dealing. In a system built on distrust, this kind of reputation is leverage in itself.

As we climax into Rivers 2027, the battle cannot be won by the loudest voice or the heaviest spender alone. It will be won by trust. Trust between leaders and their base. Trust between allies who have been tested.

The FCT Minister’s political structure in Rivers is built on people who have proven they will not scatter at the first sign of pressure. In that structure, loyalty is currency, and Rt. Hon. OK Chida has paid in full, over years, without demanding interest.

He may not be on every billboard. He may not be in every WhatsApp group making noise about 2027. But in the rooms where decisions are made, proven loyalty speaks louder than ambition.

There is a lesson here for Rivers politics. Not everyone has to be in a hurry. Not everyone has to force their way into relevance. Sometimes, the most strategic move is to be known as the one person who refused to break rank.

For Rt. Hon. Kingsley Chida, that reputation is already speaking. And in 2027, when the dust settles and the real structure matters more than the noise, that voice will be heard.

Rivers has had enough of fair-weather politicians. What it needs now are men who stay when it is inconvenient, and Rt. Hon. OK Chida is one of them.

Taribo is a public affairs analyst writing from Port Harcourt.
No go find wetin you go do with your life. Dey hear Dey type nonsense. As the state don enter Una hand make Una use am do wetin Una like. One thing I know is that development will always be far from Rivers State since that’s what you guys want with your useless Wike.

He lost to the incumbent, Hon. Canice Moore Nwachukwu (Omeogo), who secured the ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.

He promised Bola Ahmed Tinubu millions of Igbo votes and swore to teach Peter Obi politics. Yet, out of nearly 3,000 votes cast in the APC primary, he got only 14.

RomanceRe: Chike: My Friend About To Call Off His Wedding Because Of Fiancée's Comment by RISQUE: 3:23pm On May 15
FreeNaijaII:
So my friend proposed to his longtime girlfriend of 3 years this month.

They are already planning to go and see her parents later next month and to also get a date for the wedding sometime in December this year.

They don't always have issues, and anytime they do, they will resolve it within a day or so.

So, my friend saw his fiancée's comment on Instagram validating Frank Edoho's ex-wife opening her legs to Chike (another man) while married to Mr. Edoho.

In her argument, she said that she was right to open her legs to another man because Frank confessed that he keeps malice as a form of punishment.

For the sake of anonymity, I can't share the screenshot here.

He (my guy) has already made up his mind to quit the relationship because he sees her comment as a red flag that should not be ignored.

I tried to talk him out of it, but it seems his mind is made up.

What can I do to help?
Call off oo. No sign of weakness. If you snooze in this generation, you lose.

5 Myths About Love Many Nigerians Grow Up Believing

The older I get, the more I realize that love is one of the most beautiful things in life… and also one of the most dangerous things when you don’t understand it properly.

A lot of us were raised on fairy tales, Nollywood fantasies, church slogans, relationship quotes and heartbreak songs.

We were taught that love conquers all.But real life in Nigeria will humble that belief very quickly.
Most times love is not what destroys people it is the lies people believe about love.

Let’s talk honestly.

1. “Love Is Enough”

This is probably the biggest lie people keep repeating.

Love is important, yes. But love alone cannot carry a relationship where there is no stability, no emotional maturity, no discipline, no direction and no peace.

Love doesn’t pay hospital bills.
Love doesn’t remove frustration from unemployment.
Love doesn’t automatically fix anger issues, cheating, irresponsibility or addiction.

Many couples genuinely love themselves but still suffer badly together because life pressure is stronger than feelings.

Anybody who has experienced financial hardship inside a relationship understands this deeply.

You can love somebody and still be miserable together.

2. “If Somebody Truly Loves You, They Will Never Hurt You”

This one sounds sweet until life teaches you otherwise.

Human beings are flawed.

People can genuinely love you and still disappoint you because of weakness, immaturity, trauma, temptation, selfishness or poor decisions.

A woman can love a man and still disrespect him during anger. A man can love a woman and still cheat. Love does not automatically remove human flaws.

This is why character matters more than mere emotions because emotions change quickly.
Character is what remains when emotions cool down.

3. “Suffering Together Means The Love Is Real”

Nigeria especially romanticizes struggle too much. You’ll see two people drowning financially, emotionally exhausted, fighting every week, but they’ll still say: “At least we love each other.”

Love is not supposed to become permanent suffering. Please don't get me wrong in this.
However, many people stay in bad relationships because they think endurance automatically means loyalty.

No.

Sometimes you are not enduring love.
You are enduring dysfunction. Real love should add peace to your life, not remove your sanity completely.

4. “Women Love The Same Way Men Do”

This conversation always makes people emotional, but let’s be honest.

Men and women are not wired exactly the same when it comes to attraction and relationships.

A lot of men can stay emotionally attached even while struggling financially. But many women start losing attraction when a man becomes unstable for too long financially, mentally or socially.

That doesn’t always make women evil.

A lot of women grew up watching suffering closely.
They saw their mothers struggle.
They saw poverty destroy homes.
So security affects attraction for many of them whether people admit it or not.

This is why many men get shocked when a woman who once sounded deeply in love suddenly changes after prolonged hardship.

Painful reality, but that's the reality.

5. “Marriage Automatically Guarantees Happiness”

Marriage is not magic. It does not suddenly heal loneliness, immaturity, trauma or confusion.

Some people are deeply unhappy inside marriage but cannot leave because of children, religion, shame, finances or society.

Some married people secretly miss the peace they had while single.

Marriage only amplifies who both people already are. If two emotionally unhealthy people marry each other, the wedding ring will not suddenly create wisdom. That’s why choosing well matters more than simply marrying quickly.

One painful thing I’ve noticed is this:

Many Nigerians are not actually taught how relationships work.We are only taught how to desire relationships.

Nobody teaches emotional intelligence.
Nobody teaches conflict resolution.
Nobody teaches boundaries.
Nobody teaches financial compatibility.
Nobody teaches psychological stability.

So people enter relationships with fantasies and leave with trauma.

The truth is Love is beautiful, very beautiful. But love without wisdom can destroy your finances, mental health, confidence and future. That’s why as I grow older, I no longer ask: “Who loves me the most?”

I ask:
“Who is emotionally healthy?
Who is consistent?
Who brings peace?
Who has discipline?
Who has values?
Who can build with me during both comfort and hardship?”

Attraction can start relationships but wisdom is what sustains them and honestly, many Nigerians need relationship education more than relationship motivation.

Some heartbreaks are avoidable from the beginning if people simply understood human nature better.

This is my take.
Why you no add who love you no go stress you? grin grin
