No reason to argue with u.
U wey never travel dey talk.

U should be ashamed bros.

There is no part of Yoruba land that is as beautiful as Enugu.
Imo
Anambra and even Aba in Abia state.

U can't even compare Ogun state with Ebonyi...not in terms of roads let alone building.

A visit would convince u further.
Yorubas travel more than Igbos but we don't do 'migrants' thing which is synonymous with poverty.
We travel and come back home.
It is on nairaland here,Yoruba travel abroad more than Igbos too.
It is because I have been to the East that gave me the confidence that Yorubaland minus Lagos,is much more developed than Igboland.
Only Ibadan city is more developed than the entire Igboland.

Talk has always been cheap.
The most appropriate thing for you and I is to post the videos of each of these states to compare but I am 100% sure that you will run or talk yourself cowardly out.
All the videos of your Igbo cities and Yoruba cities are all over the internet.
The sure thing is that only the city of Ibadan will decimate and shame the whole 5 SE states.

Let us start with Ibadan against the whole Igboland first cheesy
I am pretty sure you cannot find 8 different suitable looking places in the entire SE to compare with Ibadan.
Tiny Onitsha built by Igala,Benin/Yoruba is your only joy in the SE.

Action/video speaks louder than talk.
You have always run but let us see if you have the gut today.

Do I post first or you go first?
Be brave, man. You can do this. cheesy

Aro-Ibibio Wars
Main article: Aro-Ibibio Wars

The Aro-Ibibio Wars were a series of conflicts between the Aro people (subgroup of the Igbo) and a Ibibio in present-day Southeastern Nigeria at Ibom Kingdom from 1630 to 1902. These wars led to the foundation of the Arochukwu kingdom.

Before Igbo arrival in the Aro territory, a group of proto Ibibio migrated to the area and established the Ibom Kingdom. This proto-Ibibio group originally came from Usak Edet (Isanguele), a segment of the Ejagham in present-day Southern Cameroon. The Eze Agwu clan from Abiriba, initiated Igbo migration into the region around the mid-17th century. The Ibibio clan welcomed all until some started rebelling against the ruling house. The Eze Awgu group who lead the rebellion against the ruling family aligned with several outside forces like the Priest Nnachi from the Edda group near Afikpo, was called by their king Awgu Inobia (Eze Agwu) for help. When he arrived, Nnachi and Eze Agwu allied with prince Akakpokpo Okon of the Ibibio kingdom of Ibom Kingdom. Akakpokpo Okon was the son of a marriage between an Igbo woman of the Eze Agwu clan and the King Obong Okon Ita in an attempt of a peace treaty for a war that have been fought between the Igbo subgroup and Ibibio. The Eze Agwu/Nnachi faction decided to help Akakpokpo attempt to overthrow his brother king Akpan Okon.

The coup was heavily resisted which called for even more help. Through Nnachi, an Eastern Cross river group answered the call for help. They were known as the Akpa who were living at today Akwa Akpa before the arrival of the Efik people in that region. These warriors and traders may have had European guns which were new to the territory. Being the Igbo allies, the Akpas were led by the royal Nnubi family. Osim and Akuma Nnubi led Akpa soldiers to help fight against the ruling household. Together with Igbo forces and rebels, they fought against the Ibom Kingdom forces (1690). During the final battles, Osim Nnubi was slain in Oror city state making it the capital of Arochukwu. But at the end of the war, Osim and Akakpokpo were dead. In order to honor Osim's legacy, his brother Akuma was crowned the first EzeAro (king). After his death, Nnachi's descendants took the throne starting with his first son Oke Nnachi. The Arochukwu kingdom, was founded.

After Arochukwu was formed, it began to expand because of the growing population and territorial protection. Aro forces formed vigilante camps which eventually grew into communities on the Arochukwu-Ibibio boundaries. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Igbo_people

So because they had coastal region,it gave them the power to make Igbos slaves.

IGBOs fought a modern conventional war and rebuilt their region. You can't compare any SW State apart from LAGOS to any SE State.

After the war, the region is expanding massively and you are busy lamenting constantly..

It's pathetic...forget banter
You were conquered.

Yet you compare yourself to a region that fought on several fronts and till today have all territories intact?

Please reason and stop the comparisons...it's a disgrace comparing yourself to IGBOs

Did you fight yourselves?
You should be thankful that they helped burn down your thatched raffia huts.
It is even the war that made you build the few scanty buildings in Igboland with massive slums all over today..
PoliticsRe: Opinion: South-west Yoruba Cities Deserve Better by Ritchiee: 8:38pm On Dec 03, 2024
That is just a tiny bit of Akure or even Ibadan that is left to show that when Igbos were living in thatched, raffia huts,Yorubas were the first to build descent, standard storey buildings in Nigeria.
Yoruba land, not only Lagos,is still the most developed region in Nigeria.

As per IGR,it is the chronic poverty in the SE that is affecting their IGR negatively.
They should work harder and smarter.

I understand all what you’re expressing here. But I need an answer to the question. The thing is how you guys are supporting this bill without fully understanding it. You can’t even answer this question. So why the hurry?

You talk about extreme laziness, do you know that Abia is an oil producing state? After distributing most of their oil revenue among FG and states like Lagos and Kano based on population and other factors, you now want high VAT generating states like Lagos to keep most of their VAT and call states like Abia lazy. Is that fair?
lol
How much oil does Abia produce, sir?
All SE states combined oil is not up to Ondo state portion.
As per the question you asked.Somebody has answered you.
Let me just help you a little bit.
VAT is just part of FAAC,there are still money from customs, port etc.
The #5 billion was not exclusively for VAT,other monies were included.
The proposed tax bill will give Abia more VAT + your #5 billion or whatever from the other goodies.

What are the grouses of opponents of the bills?

1. It would impoverish northern Nigeria and benefit only Lagos and Rivers.

2. We won't be able to pay salaries.

3. We need more consultations.

4. Why the rush? We are suspicious of the rush. Let us delay it like the Petroleum Industry Act.

5. Alpha Beta Consulting will be collecting taxes.

6. How will it put food on awatable?

7. We are not ready and we don't know when we'd be ready. So eff-off with any agenda to help us develop.

8. Tinubu is playing with re-election.

10. Southsouth and southeast will suffer. Meanwhile Ohanaeze, southsouth, northcentral and southwest have thrown their weights behind the bills.

Where is Daniel Bwala who is supposed to communicate this policy? Where is National Orientation Agency? By now, they ought to be selling this policies directly to the grassroots. Let the people see the benefits. This Friday, clerics may use their sermons to demarket the bill. By now, NOA and Bwala should be on VOA, BBC Hausa Service to be selling this bill. If the clerics do the damage, cleaning up will be more difficult.

President Tinubu's horde of media aides need to step up.

BE EVERYWHERE. Prepare to win the people to your side. It is easier to be proactive than to do damage control caused by ignorant folks whose aim is to kill the tax policy and fiscal responsibility.

PS: The real issue is that there has been a historical weaponization of poverty in the north aimed at keeping the people impoverished. The political elites in northern Nigeria see this mob of unemployed and unempowered youth as a weapon for political negotiation. They feel if they empower these people with education and skills, they'd threaten their hold on the society. Imagine threatening Tinubu with 2027. with votes. As you are threatening, remember that Jonathan lost almost the entire north in 2011 and still became president. Wake up and empower your people. Like I said yesterday, they'd run your state aground first before they proceed to Abuja. You ought to have seen this with the August riots.
It would impoverish northern Nigeria and benefit only Lagos and Rivers.

Lagos from 80% to 15%.

Telling millions of struggling igbo traders that they have to show a tax ID before opening a bank account is evil. Tax is essential for a country to grow. But when we have a government rooted in nepotism, a government that concentrates its work on some favoured sections of the country against others, paying taxes to such government becomes a foolish act.

You concentrate the activities of the bank of Industries in the south west. You take all the juicy positions in government, in civil service, military and co, then when the igbo graduate that couldn't get a job in any agency finally sells his father's land to start a petty business, you show up for tax! That is after you might have mocked him for his "2 by 2 shop".

Thunder fire you dia
Where did you make up this lie,in your bedroom?
If you are talking about trading,Yorubas dominate the building materials template market and we all know how vast this sector is and some other sectors like petrol stations, new wear materials, new and tokunbo vehicles, plastics, rubber footwear's,sea foods, the entertainment industry etc in Nigeria.
They also have the highest number of money making educational institutions and largest number of indigenous industries both in Nigeria and abroad(as Nigerians).
They dominate 70% of eateries,ICT and real estate in Nigeria.
They are by far the largest business people both the big and medium because they have the highest number of SMES.
Yorubas should be the ones complaining not Igbos, please.
There is nothing like this your lie in the tax bill but easiness for the poor because they will not pay 97% of the taxes they were obligated to pay before.
