Health / Please Help Baby Adegoriola by ritmove(m): 10:42am On Apr 09, 2017
https://www.bellanaija.com/2017/04/bn-community-centre-baby-adegoriola-needs-our-help-to-save-his-heart/

His frail and petite look doesn’t do justice to this brave little fighter. At only 4 months old, Adegoriola is already engaged in a battle that has toppled many far beyond his age – a battle for his hope and his survival.

He has been diagnosed with complete unbalanced Atrio-ventricular canal defect (Moderate sized ostium primum Atrial septal defect, large inlet Ventricular septal defect, moderate Atrio-ventricular valve regurgitation) small patent Ductus Arteriosus, severe hyperkinetic pulmonary hypertension. For short, he has a severe and live-threatening heart condition and is being treated at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba.

This disease is very rare, complex, and dangerous. And unfortunately cannot be treated/operated in Nigeria. His family is in great despair, having already spent their entire life-savings on treatments and diagnosis. They seek help through donate-ng.

The 4 months old is in great pain and situation will deteriorate rapidly. He needs urgent surgery and the estimated amount is $15,000 which translates to about N6,750,000 the current exchange rate. This is a revised cost after recent visit to OAUTH. Initial cost was estimated to be $30,000.

Please donate and help spread the words #saveadegoriola

Islam for Muslims / Re: Fasting The Healthy Way. by ritmove(m): 12:40pm On Jun 10, 2016
zaynie:

Wa alaykum salam.
Fasting is not compulsory for pregnant women.
You can try to fast as long as you can and break whenever you feel you can't go on.
If you decide to fast till 7pm, you can try eating a little at a time.
- Dates/fruits with water sipped slowly( then observe magrib)
- after magrib ( like 15 mins after your initial break) you can take cereal, pap or something very light and not filling at all. So that even when you feel nauseous, nothing comes out.
- rest for like 1 hr ( Ishai/ Taraweeh) you can now eat the main meal, slowly.
- dont lie down.immediately after the meal.

Also try to use your prenatals in the morning.
Dont stress yourself.
In your 3rd trimester, your baby will draw what it needs from your body, if you are overweight you need not worry only you have to stock up to replenish what is lost.
If you are underweight or have another underlyinv illness, please dont fast.

And Allah knows best.

May Allah make it easy for you.
Amin

Thanks for this wonderful Reply.. Ramadan Mubarak!

Salam,
what if one does any of this after breaking his or her fast by evening unintentionally.. Does that have any effect on Ramadan as a whole?

Ramadan is a month for you to seek forgiveness , Ask for Allah Forgiveness after a sincere repentance. Sin during or out of the month of Ramadan should be avoided.

May Allah Guide us Right and not make us among the Hypocrites who worship the month of Ramadan rather than fasting for the sake of Allah, after Ramadan they slide back to their old sinful ways (Amin).

If USA visa cn be difficult to have then what's the grudge following Saudis rule 4 entering d holy cities. If made germane to enter y nt say d most easiest (in sha Allah) and beautiful invocatn on earth-la illaha illa lahu Muhammad rosullulah (SAW)

I think making clarification of the this restriction is important, the post did not make this clear enough. There is no restriction for any body to enter Saudi Arabia. This is based on Visa and if you apply and issue visa you can enter Saudi Arabia. Many foreigners are in Riyadh and other cities.

Mecca is a city build around religious rites of the Muslim and there is no reason for a non-muslim to be in the city. What the article did not also says is that Nobody including citizen are allowed in mecca during Hajj except with hajj visa. This two cities (mecca and Median) is build around serving people on religion pilgrimage (umurah or Hajj) and this is a strict control of people movement that you can only be in the city for pilgrimage.

Even now as a Muslim, you can only go on Hajj once in five years just to restrict the number of people entering the city during this time. The number of people trouping into these cities needs restrictions. To say you are a Muslim is not written on your head, so if you want to go into the cities there is very little that can be done to prevent you, but you have to go with a umurah or Hajj programme.

But then, why should this restriction bother you, when you have not even peek into your local mosque that has no restriction.

There are thousands of blind Muslims in Nigeria that are not able to benefit from reading the Quran and other Arabic text. MPAC is running a fundraising campaign to raise 10Million Naira for 4 Braille Embosser to print Educational text for the blind. The Campaign is at https://www.donate-ng.com/project/75 and is 3% funded.

N1,000 from 10,000 People or N10,000 from 1,000 people is all it take to achieve this goal. Please visit https://www.donate-ng.com/project/75 and donate generously, you can donate with card, bank transfers or cheque deposit. Don't forget to share with your friends.

Some people donate Qur'ans to the masjid so that they get reward (sadaqat ul-jariya) everytime someone reads from them. This is a great opportunity to be involve in providing a machine that will continue to print Quranic text for the Blind. What a great way to give Sadaqat.

@ritmove, do you really think charging high fees on the dorm by the CBN is good move?

Honestly, the CBN has been too tardy and reactionary with this dollar issue. What is the essence of a dorm account if you cant withdraw or deposit money? If the CBN is averse to people saving money in foreign currency , they should be clear about it and communicate same to the banks and investing public ,rather than recourse to short term administrative controls that temporarily douses speculative pressures but creates unintended consequences in the long run.

Now that BDCs are moving hard currency across the border to Nigerian banks in Ghana and transferring the cash for their Nigerian customers offshore, tell me, who is the loser ?

Really can't say if the high fee is right thing to do or even if CBN will do it.. Just preempting CBN from present trend.

As par BDC going to Ghana .. it make no difference to CBN.. CBN is no longer defending the dollar going to Ghana or in the Black market.. The challenge CBN has now is to make it possible for those Importers on the exclusion list to source dollar from the blackmarket.

Don't forget, that now, CBN is no longer giving BDC cash.. but $1000 dominated card for their forex demand.

What we see in the blackmarket (sorry some say it is parallel market) is people speculating the swing of the pendulum and wondering if best to hold dollar or Naira.. that is why i said some people will burn their finger. Some smart one will make money.. but expect that a lot will burn their finger...

Chai...always good to use any opportunity while it lasts. grin grin

The appreciation we saw for the last few days was more like a knee jerk reaction to the CBNs capital control of closing the travelex window that assists banks convert their FCY cash to wired/electronic form. Due to the insurance risk associated with holding the $$ cash in the banks vaults and the low economic value associated with holding $$ in cash, the banks decided to stop accepting $$ in cash.

Knowing how ingenious and entrepreneurial, Nigerians are, I know that some people have started figuring out how to take this $$ cash over the boarders to convert into electronic forms for onward wiring to various accounts. Once this is successfully achieved, Nigerian banks might not need the CBNs help with travelex and ala business continues for them. Curious to see what else the CBN has up its sleeves.

Interesting times ahead!!!

One thing is sure.. The CBN is trying to beat the Saboteurs/Forex round-trippers in their game. CBN already knew of people from neighbouring countries coming to buy dollars. This was in a report over a week ago.. And if you follow the steps taken.. one of the first clue was the report on CBN and custom partnering to block undeclared Money at the Airport...

Due to the Bank not accepting Dollar, a lot of people took it to the black market, causing the appreciation of the naira. Now, people are not withdrawing the money already in the bank for fear they wouldn't be able to put it back.. so the cash is drying in the blackmarket.

I think the next move by CBN will take will likely be to start a high fee on the dorm, that might force people change the Dollars in their dorm to naira..

I believe by the time the whole jigsaw come in place, a lot of people will burn their finger on this Dollar issue..

Wey dey watch!!!

6 - 1 = 5

So..
6 + 1 = 7..

in the equation below...

6 -0 + 1

the -ve is for the Zero, 6 is +ve and 1 is +ve.. so you can re-arrange it as

ABUJA–National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has said that President Mohammadu Buhari and the party have at least 100 days of honeymoon before embarking on the implementation of “change” programme.

Tinubu who defended his assertion said it was a norm the world over for new leaders to settle in the office before unfolding their agenda for their country.

The APC leader who is also a former Governor of Lagos State was in the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Tuesday for a private meeting with President Buhari.

He added that change does not come by magic, stressing that it is driven by people and proper planning.

“Excuse me! Let us calm now here. How long ago? May 29th was when this president was sworn in. It is an international norm all over the world, there is an honeymoon period, at least minimum of 100 days honeymoon. And you won’t allow honeymoon at all? You said change is not coming. Change is not by magic. It driven by the people, the spirit and the character and the planning.

“You see, we have had so much problem in this country in the past because we run into policy blind folded without adequate and effective planning you don’t have results unless you plan well.

“The time it takes you to plan, examine, rejig, re-evaluate is more important than the time you just rush into taking action because you are either being sentimental, being emotional and being driven by other forces that are not expected. It is not fair to jump into those conclusions.

“There must be time to plan, to review and even listen to people. There is a separation between a campaign period, articulating your vision, expressing the promises to Nigerians. There is a time to look at holistically at what you inherited, analysis it, distil and then take action.

I once worked on a Project in SA with a Company engaged from the UK to help with the design and integration of a new Management system. Based on Project Plan, the requirement gathering takes about 6months, Report and solution evaluation and selection another 1month, and then the actual deployment and integration was planned for 6months.. A total of about 13months. The SA company was not happy with the plan they wanted it squeezed and wanted to know why Requirement gathering and BA activity will take 6months... They inform us other Sister opco is already moving to solution selection phase in less than 2weeks.. Somehow my company was able to calm them down and get them to buy into the plan.

After 12months they have a working system, They were please with, don't ask me about the Sister opco.,.. 'cos My company got the business to turn around the sister opco system later. The sister opco got half way to find that the implementation could not support the requirement and CR was piling up, so much that the project had to be stopped and they went back to the drawing board after wasting 7months (financial and Labour) running round in a circle.

The moral here is that in Nigeria, we are so much in a hurry to be seen doing something, without the actual exit criteria defined.. what is the target and how to define when you meet the target is not define... We just want to be seen doing something.. I hope this new govt is able to hold their ground to really define what happiness to a typical Nigeria is and deliver on this.

The fact is the Naira is under pressure.. And Emefeile has tried to separate the source of the pressure.. What he has done is to separate the FX pressure on the naira, and shedding some to the black market, while he defend the FX requirement he deem important. This means the cost of defending the naira has reduced - as can be seen from the Increase in reserve.

All this is to find the source of the FX demand that is being used for round-tripping.

The rate has increased in the blackmarket because the liquidity in the black marker can't support the demand because of cash hoarding by people speculating the Dollar will reach 300 or more.
In my view, Emefeile may want to admit some FX demand back to the interbank and re-prioritise some others... Once he get that balance right (and eliminate the dodgy demands), you will see the pressure in the black market reduce.

People calling Emefeile names, need to understand that Nigeria is a very complex irrational Country.. the solution to one problem will cause another problem.. and until we start our own research into the micro-fibre of the country then there is very little the policy will achieve. We need to start enacting/implementing researched based-policy before we can move this country forward.

Is there any reason why Oando will be expected to post a good result in the light of these realities?
* Low oil price
* Low sales from petroleum marketing business
* Election money spent on APC
* Pipeline explosion on asset with Oando interest
The bold was after year end.. If that reflect in the account, would I be surprise?

Another thing to consider with Oando is the Loan used for the COP deal which is hang on BoE Base Interest rate + 7%.. BoE is speculating a rate hike by End of year... Uncle Wale will try to pay off this loan as soon as possible... Maybe another Right issue to argument the proceeds from the Downstream offloads?
