oapeleo:I don't get you at all... if anybody comes with work now pay later. He will have to agree to the final amount set and if he fails to comply, you have the right to shut down the website two after work is complete ![]() but then you are saying, "For sure 50% of the money has to be paid first"? that is contradictory... |
na wa o. it has been a while since I visited NL. Thank God! Today, I decided to visit my favorite part of it. web masters section... I have been blessed enough to get a few of my clients here back in the day. But this time, I observed something different. besides the fact that this section is now boring and full of "i-too-know" n liars. I saw people saying they have a job for someone but they will pay later... worse, I saw an Ad from someone saying that "we will do the job n you will pay later"... E gba mi!!! is this what freelancing has turned into? or people are just playing? one guy said he gave another guy a job to do, paid a part and that the guy has been posting him... liar! the first question is " how much did he pay him "? 2nd, how much was the total agreed fee? people will ask for a quality job but are willing to pay 10k... smh. sorry, you will only be scammed. To avoid being scammed, they have decided to ask that you work and receive payment later. lol... who is fooling who o? issokay. Goodluck with that... For those offering pay later deals, I don't know what your game is but no one will take you seriously. who makes a contract like that sef? Shey people don't think ni? my advice to whoever is reading, to build a website these days isn't just about calling a guy (or a company) up... have you check his credentials? do you know what you want? it is about research, marketing n so forth... what plans do have for it? like every physical business, you put in cash to earn returns on investment. if you are looking for quick ways out and short term fixes, then you should expect only one return. Scam! *****sorry, for the ranting**** not! admin@tha247webguy.com www.tha247webguy.com 08051985616 |

Because of the state of the nation, Nigerians have been looking to any and every area for another source of income. And that is not a bad thing in itself. One of the areas that is being explored more and more is the scope of the internet... or "IT", as many people will try to rename it. One look through google search engine on "how to make money online" will give you 566,000,000 results... That is half a billion questions with answers. Wow! But why are Nigerians still struggling to make money off the internet? Or aren't we? I'm certainly no expert but one learns from his experiences. Yeah? So, I will just write my thoughts concerning the matter... 1. In no particular order, one of the reasons why this is so is that, the first and foremost thing on the minds of every young dude is "Money"... Money is important... Yes! But over quality and integrity No! Most of the best selling "internet sensation ideas" are based on providing one service or the other, regardless of how small. I think the best thing should we ask ourselves is what exactly we want to do for "these people?".Whether it is, fun/excitement, information, a service and what not... It has to be clear... Trust me, money will follow. 2. Jack of all trade... I'm the number Jack in Nigeria. LOL. We are Nigerians. If you are a specialist, you will be scammed by the next Jack. We want maximum profit. I lie? But if you must be a Jack, be a master of half of what you trade in. lol.. But the truth is that many have become master of none. Leading to low quality works. Only you wants to do SEO, Google Campaign, develop the site, do all the graphics, develop the site's content and be the admin, all at once... we must be able to sub-let or share the load. And stick to one to two skill sets. Forget all those organisation that will write plenty "requirements"... They just wanna pay less for more. 3. Seriousness. For a lack of a better word. Many people who want to do any internet based business, don't know what it really takes to set up one... It takes consistency and serious focus. If you have one in mind, you must do the ground work, the research, the planning, the team (if necessary), the financial input and so forth... These things take time! I have met many people who are looking for people to add to the team for an idea or plan. But within a fee weeks, their passion is gone. Others actually start off and the going is good. But they can't pus for the next stage or loss passion... The whole thing flops. 4. This isn't Europe or America. Many of the researches are foreign based and relate directly to the happenings and peculiarities of their countries. Since we are mostly a copy and paste nation, these things cannot work here. For example, most Nigerians are still skeptical about online market... If you focused only on installing that means of payment, you will lose more customers. We can't just copy n paste... We must really consider our peculiarities before we can proceed... Once again, time is involved and patience is key... to be continued... Mayowa. I am a web developer and online marketer. mayority11@gmail.com 08167836364 www.tha247webguy.com

SmartFaces:the saddest part is the religious angle to all this... religious people r so so lazy... I'm sure the lady would be scared to "disobey" God... mostly because she too is trying to form religious... why would God set u up with a lazy person. don't be foolish. remove the religious cap from your head and kindly decline the stupid offer. Tis deception of the highest order. my sister once dated a guy who wanted to give the first car of their marriage to his pastor... be careful and flee from this dude... |

I was planning to use cashenvoy as the payment gateway for a clients online store, while trying to avoid using =N=150,000 by zenith bank and Co, at least based on our budget. "Thanks for your interest in Cashenvoy, the most secured online payment platform in Nigeria. The =N=3500 for Naira cards is the maximum total charge fee we deduct for every transaction. We deduct 2.5% (percentage fee) which is charged for every transaction and #12.60 (fixed amount ) that is charged alongside with the percentage fee for every transaction" 3500 per transaction? that is crazy. Wetin he don sell? |
dwebdesign:no one shld hire you. You are either stupid or ignorant... can't you read? or couldn't you open another post to advertise there? such nonsense! |
Anyone? Your advice will also be valuable. Thanks. |
AyodejiMcCarthy:Creating What does that mean?Anyone can do this!!! |
HTTP, HTTPS, And SSL... What They Are And How They Should Affect Your Choice of hosting agent... There are many things you have to learn on your own, anymore you would learn on from experiences. Today, I just want to share the difference between HTTP and HTTPS, before we talk about SSL. Anyone really into web development, web hosting or reselling and stuff like this; must have come across these many times. If you look through the address of most sites, you would observe that many of them begin with "http"://www.something.com while other have https://... Why? How are they different? AS you know http stands for hypertext transfer protocol... the whole grammar simply means that http is the means of transfer of information across the internet. That is, when you make a request on your browser(e.g. www.facebook.com), http is just the agent that requests for the webpage you are trying to access from the server and displays it on your browser... With the increase of e-commerce came the need more security. HTTPS simply "secure HTTP". Just as you are familiar with buying from site such as Jumia and co, you have... read more tha247webguy.com mayority. |
Actually, I get what you are saying... but do you want to develop it yourself? I can develop one for you , if you want... plus, there isn't anything for free. how would handle the database, at least. |
osile2012:thank you o. He just wrote empty stuff, I bet Tis something to do with advertising. |
cbrass:shining... smh... |
Valon4ego:no vex ehn |
nnamdiosu:u r welcome... I have never tried sending the details of a contact form to my phone via sms, I believe you are talking about sms right? It should be something that can be fixed through php, and you would definitely need to be linked with an online sms service for that. If you are using any of the CMS, there should be a plug in for that sort of thing. try something like SEContactform |
blublahd: blublahd:Hi! There are no shortcuts to it... you have to start from the very basic markup language, html5... Then get to understand css3... javascript... when you have gotten the hang of things here... you must decided for php... after which you can learn database management... Tis called mySQL... I was taught Microsoft sql too. but you can stay with mySQL. I know that all I mentioned here looks much, and it is. But you said accurate and thorough knowledge... I tell my friends that there are no shortcuts to it. You could get a good teacher in your area to teach you too, always works better that way while you also read up yourself. All the best! |
From my experience, I have come to realize that trust is a very important of any business and the partners in whatever business it might be. There is general distrust in "web designer" ("web developer", as many people like to think they are so different). You only have to read through the web section on here on Nairaland to understand what I am saying. Some argue that, there are poor designers, quark if you like. Other say the charges are too high... and that is because of the varying prices in development among these "designers"... And that is funny because, just now, I saw someone give a "so-called" xmas promo of N10,000... I was like "what the hell?" Would anyone really patronize this guy? If yes, then the client shouldn't expect any quality stuff from them. Really, tis just a rip off... But trust me, clients will still fall for it. why? Well, Nigerians like cheaper things... Designing a web site isn't a small thing... But no prospective clients wants to hear that. Results is all they are after and of course, we understand that. But you must understand that every web site is different. One guy, an interior decorator (a Nigerian abroad, maybe twas more expensive over there. lol) sent me a mail with a link to a site and said to "copy" it exactly... I have met some interesting people. Now, that doesn't sound cool... You can't just copy another site... I don't do it. You can maybe copy the concepts and ideas. Yes! both not like for like. Tis just wrong. (pls feel free to share whatever weird requests any clients have asked for). Also, you must understand the difference between all the grammar that everyone says about dynamic website, static, e-commerce, content managment systems (CMS), wordpress, joomla and all those other big big grammar... Some are just the same. Plus, we can easily spot when you just read up stuff on the internet and don't really know what you are saying or mean. Another person sent me a mail and asked for my pin. While chatting, he said he wanted a "dynamic website". I thought nothing to it, I just believed he knew what he might. He paid half two days later to begin the job. Two weeks later, after hosting his site, he saw it and pinned to say it wasn't "dynamic" enough. Boy was i glad he wasn't on my side of the phone. Because, I was first shocked before I laughed(forgive me). So, i asked him for what he understand that word to me. He didn't have a clear answer, just that it wasn't dynamic enough. Thank God for wisdom... See, every site is different. When you pay N10,000 for a website you are getting the "popular static web site" (which, I can never really understand. as even static web sites aren't even worth the trouble. Plus I absolutely don't see the monetary gain in it. Maybe, there is something I don't know on the streets). Static site are just plain websites... empty... ugly... boring... to put it mildly. No one, in this century, wants that. Dynamic websites is just a term, to me though. If it isn't static than it is dynamic. The rest is bobo. But if you run off thinking something else... Know that, dynamic sites vary in functionality... Hence, attract different fees. You can compare sites like Jumia to Nairaland, for example. The functions are different. Jumia has shopping carts, MasterCards or let me call it payment gateways build into it... Nairaland doesn't. Both they both have databases, a basic for dynamic sites. It is good to ask question from your prospective designers, and try to understand them. Tis the surest to really pick out who knows his stuff. Our portfolios help, but isn't the surest way. Try to meet them (us) in person. Although, my last two were through the phone and via e-mail... Try to establish terms of business. like how much upfront, how much at what stage, try to explain what you want, your designer will do the necessary things... mailing list, contact form linked straight to your phone, clean navigation... and so forth. Depending on the functionality of the site you desire... What are Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, Magneto (or whatever)... they are just the same. They are backend systems, popularly called "content management systems". And they are based on individual preferences... I love wordpress, simply because i have been following their development over the years... Quickly, a CMS is a software installed on a web server with an admin login page for you to write and create posts, pages, menus, update commercial item sales... All by yourself (although, tis still tricky. you might need a few months to get adjusting to it). Normally without it, for any adjustments or updates, you must call your web developer... He has to go back to the web server to upload these files or update the databases... More money for us! It is what many people do now, it is easier for both parties. Although, it still involves a good knowledge of php... what about marketing strategies? Or traffic building? As simple as these words look, they are the most important part of any web site, be it a blog or online market. For example, I am not sure if you are familiar with what Konga.com looked like a few years ago... Pretty ugly, no offense. But that didn't stop them from marketing... they built in their traffic... now, the site has been redesigned... an traffic remains the same. You must sit down with your developer and plan... Web design isn't a joke... I developed one for my friend's wife a few months after they had their first child (i call her my inLaw. lol. she will nearly kill me when she reads this)... www.diaryofanewmum.com a simple website with a short and long term goals. Today, i received the stats concerning her site (i always keep track of my sites, behind my clients)... Launched October 1, she has had 4,700 views from 47 countries in all... including places like india, Germany, Kazahstan and Russia. Which is really interesting because she didn't do much in November. I hope I have been able to help both sides... You are free to ask any questions and easy with the criticisms. Please. I know you guys. You could also send me an email address at mayority11@gmail.com or pay a visit to my site, www.tha247webguy.com
