jennyfar: Thanks Robbie, I'm in port harcourt. I hope The state CID office is ok. What about the prepaid courier envelope, where can it be gotten? Can I have ur email address?
State CID should do it... Prepaid courier envelope, just get to DHL, TNT, UPS etc, they all do it not sure about NIPOST's EMS though...

jennyfar: Guys can the police clearance be done at any station?
No Jenny, a police station can not issue you a clearance.
You should head for CID headquarter. If you are in Lagos, Alagbon South West Ikoyi is your destination. All the best!

rockar: i think i will go with the domiciliary account transfer....that will be better and faster. the experience u just narrated with form A is scary. i wont want any mistake on the payment, most banks are saying form A is an old form of transfer, that the don't really use it again.
The differences btw the form A and domiciliary account is the fact that you have an Acc with the bank they both go thru SWIFT the error could still occur. The person that worked on the actual transaction omitted some of my details when effecting the transfer. The real lesson here is to ensure they carry you along every step of the transaction.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by Robbie37: 3:26pm On Feb 27, 2013
earthgreeners: Nice one Robbie.......

Although the Credit card route is time saving and more convenient.
The Form A route seem to be the better option....abi what do you think?
@earthgreeners Thanks brother, I agree with you on the Form A... If one is not in a hurry, It'll save some money due to the CBN exchange rate and at the end, I think you'll get a better document trail for archiving and enquiry purposes.

But I had a terrible personal experience with wiring tuition fee. There was an error with my details at the bank that transferred the money and it took me about three weeks of calls and emails to rectify. In fact, I had to call the school's VP office to resolve it. But when I was to pay the balance I opted for the card option and in 2mins my transaction was complete and I had my receipt scanned to me at the day's end.

So after all said and done my brother there are Pros' and Cons' each person has to choose his/ her way undecided

Cheers!
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by Robbie37: 8:19pm On Feb 26, 2013
In addition, one can email or call the banks to increase the limit accordingly before attempting the transaction on your card. Cheers!
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by Robbie37: 8:15pm On Feb 26, 2013
jman77: ......but somebody said you can pay using your GTB naira mastercard.abi?
Using a Debit/ Credit Card, that is MasterCard or VISA is the fastest way to make a payment. You either use the school's portal to make the payment or give your card details to the school's personnel in charge of finance to post the debit on the card. However there are challenges most banks have a daily spend limit placed by default on your card so you may need to make sure the amount you are paying is within your card's spend limit, be mindful this has little to do with your balance. Another challenge is the danger of a network problem ocurrithee hole you do the transaction it may hang or fail, but barring any glitches it's the fastest!

To the best of my knowledge all banks have the form A, but the customer reps may not be aware since they don't handle such so if you want to go this route, I'll advice you to visit a head or zonal office and ask to deal with the Forex team or the Funds transfer person in the least. I think the Form A option offers the opportunity of a lower exchange rate CBN rate advantage.

All the best folks!

ezme: Has anyone tried paying their application fees using GTBank Naira Mastercard? Please share your experience
It worked fine, but my opinion is that, its the School or site that is the greater factor in determining if our Nigerian MasterCards or VISA cards would work on 'em. All the best!

Life is a coin of two sides: You come and you go,you give and you take. You should have contributed in your own little way before this time. Even informing the house of your proposed course, prog or school alone may be resourceful to someone here. This house of full of nice people and they will share experiences with you. Someone with idea about off-campus accommodation in Canada will help you in a short while (If it has not yet been given) I trust members of this house for that smiley

To all guests wey dey always come take ideas without contribution, e no good ooo cheesy "Every on looker is either a coward or a traitor" grin grin I no knw whether it applies to u or not oooo. I just dey talk my own ni ooo
