onuawuchi: Oga your info is a lil outdated. The passport photo requirement is just one to be stapled in front of our personal checklist document. The application fee is $107. The application from my judgement is nothing to worry about. The challenge is the time you get a response from them

This is why in my opinion anybody who's really serious about his/ her application should first visit the Deputy High Commission of Canada's website and read thoroughly because little but important details get updated often.

Thanks bro! But I don't have a credit card, only debit card (ATM card) and secondly am not sure they will allow me to talk with the enrollment officer, u know how this oyinbo behaves sometimes.
Is it wise to open a domiciliary account?

Same difference sir, as long as its a MasterCard or VISA card it would suffice. I wouldn't advise a Dom Acc, the charges your transfer for app fee payment would accrue may be the same or almost as the actual fee itself. Then you'lld still need the school's bank details. Whilst debit card is fast (Instantenous) and minimal charges

Fear not enrolment officer na human being, go through the school's directory there you should find the desired personnel's number. Be determined but be polite, you'll get all the assistance u need, nobody wants to be tagged as being unhelpful.

All the best.

@Odinwa
My brother, I'll advise you to contact the head enrollment officer of the school. You may try getting She/ he to charge your credit card, that would require you to provide your debit card details to enable a successful transaction.
It's important that you carry them along or involve someone in charge when things like this are not going right. I learnt this the hard way. All the best.

Cheers

onuawuchi: What is the difference between temporary residence visa and study permit? I hear people mention TRV when they are talking about student visa. So I want to know if its an accompanying application for study permit, or is it a different app designed for another set of immigrants?

Guy really?!! smiley anyway a study permit is required for any kind of study in Canada by non citizens and TRV is required for any study that exceeds six months alongside yo study permit of course.
Travel / Re: Travelling To Canada Part 4 by Robbie37: 10:52pm On Mar 30, 2013
@ Shadams
I will suggest you go to immigration, explain your situation they should let you renew. If they don't, go ahead and apply. I applied with a 9 month-to-expiration passport too... The deputy high commission instructed me to renew just before they issued the visa so don't despair you are safe either way. The visa application requirement was 6months the last time I checked.

It's the idea behind Affidavit of support that you should consider before making your choice. It's actually an oath that is being sworn, to further show the swearer's commitment to the content of the affidavit. So it's a document that can be categorized under proof of financial support.

@deebla Kenniy's spin suggestion is really good. Having multiple home tie factors may even further help our course. Like earthgreeners stated once, property family employment. So look deeper inward and outward for facts that can make you a strong home tie package.

@deebla in addittion, I would suggest you submit a letter signed by both your parents entailing their desire to fund your education in Canada, you may want to highlight that it's the reason why they put all those years in service and they are committed to channeling the fruit of the labour into sponsoring you to any desired height. Add of course an affidavit for each parent. You can spin your home tie gist through them too. May God grant you wisdom, in the end that's what really matters.

@d2ddayo: I think you have a good thing going with the euro- travel history and as you haven't violated any previous visa conditions attests to your integrity so it's a mighty plus for TRV. I think what u need to work out on your application is the sponsor part I think you should spin it in a way that includes your parents especially if they have been the ones funding your trips. I don't think it's a bad idea if you paint a scenario where the person you want to use as your sponsor is the main sponsor (with a convincing reason and evidence why he would sponsor you) and your parents are included as co-sponsors offering you moral and financial support. Even better I think, if there is a strong connection between your parents and your main sponsor.

I think this is what I'll do if I were in your shoes. All the best!

Dear all after 6months and 6days my visa and Study permit has been issued. My status changed yesterday morning on vfs, then I started to wait for the famous email that tells you your application has been approved. My people I wait tire, couldn't sleep.

I received the email just as I was walking into VFS's gate so as I was opening the package I was also opening the email attachment that contained the news.

I would be posting the supporting documents details shortly.

I pray that all awaitees get their heart desires.

For TRV awaitees I saw quite a no. of packages so keep faith!

There is a high court on Lagos Island, Igbosere high court it's like 200m after City Hall.

You could hop on an Obalende bus from CMS they'll drop u right in front of the court.

Saying this from experience a friend of mine had with UK embassy when he submitted his bank statement with the sealed envelop but the embassy denied him based on the grounded that he did not included his bank statement, the next time he applied he opened the envelop and add the statement to his other docx and was granted his visa four years back.

To buttress your point sir. Applying some skill in organizing your supporting documentation will serve all applicants well. Trying placing related documents together, tag them with Post-it-Notes if possible. Academic documents together financial documents together. Bio- related documents together. It'll not be wise to present the Visa Officers with a puzzle of disarrayed documents to sort and wade through.
Cheers

@ Kenniy: I feel you should hold on, from my calculation 6months to September puts first week in April as a wise time to go and inquire again if nothing is heard by then. I think the 6months thing is a policy they'll not look to waive easily. You mentioned May as the deadline for your scholarship, even though you may be cutting it close I think waiting till first week in April would be a smart move. Apart from the other things you said she mentioned waiting three weeks more might not be so bad. Keep ur head up. God bless us all.

Due to the FSB BEA scholarship, every police station now has the authority to issue police clearance. I believe it is same document, prints of all five fingers of your right hand are taken and a passport photo is affixed and stamped. I believe that is same with what you get at Alagbon.

Every station… wow! I hope they know of this, our policemen that is. It'll make quite the difference
