Eyes on Gold?

An interesting conversation with Christabel Onome Otobo.

Question
We have heard so much about you from several sources and are so glad to have this interactive session with you. Please, may we meet you?

Thank you so much. I am Christabel Onome Otobo, popularly known on radio as Cryxtal. I am an #under40CEO of Milestone Ideas and Strategies Inc., with international certifications in business, vast experience in Business Idea/Business Development and Intensive/Extensive Brand Creation and Marketing. My background in brand strategizing for individuals and companies, informs my mindful but competitive approach. I am also an On-Air Personality/Newscaster on Crown 89.9 FM, a Writer, a life coach and a friend. I am from Delta State and a graduate of the University of Benin, Nigeria.

Question
Our interview has a subject, "Eyes on Gold"? It's actually a question we love you to answer. So many people have their eyes set on gold - They have big dreams and aspirations but lack the abilities and capabilities to take hold of such dreams. They can't grab the gold they desire. How can you help our readers first from a general sense, learn how to grab their gold.

It is thrilling to have your eyes set on something great but being focused on achieving a positive end result, without being distracted is a different ball game. Generally speaking, there are a number of things to put in place and attitudes to develop to ensure you get the gold.

One, know your purpose in life and write it down in one sentence. Two, define your priorities in achieving your goal and build your priorities into your daily schedule and monthly budget. Three, improve yourself every day, acquire more knowledge and practice consistently till you carve a very distinctive niche for yourself. Master your game. Four, believe in you. You may be all you have while people who you need to believe in you are still trying to understand what you are all about. Lastly but very importantly, take care of yourself in every way possible, maintain good appearance. Apart from the high level of confidence-the kind that gives you a winning attitude- that will exude from you, you will be surprised the kind of doors that could open for you just because you do.

Question
From Milestone Ideas and Strategies Inc.’ perspective, how can you help our readers learn how to grab their gold?

From Milestone Ideas and Strategies perspective, you may never get the goal or achieve more due to lack of proper planning, brand invisibility (people not knowing about you or what you do), inability to create a brand for you and your business, or not knowing what to do differently to carve a niche for yourself.

Milestone Ideas and Strategies is an Online Business Idea/ Branding Company, born out of the desire to see you venture into business with new ideas and new ways of doing business; a desire to heighten your success level and give brand visibility to you as a creative/talented person who wants the world to see them and what they are capable of; a desire to watch you go into business with confidence because we have thought it through for you..

My firm is all about:

• Creating new business ideas to investors in all countries, people who have the money and do not know what to do with it,

• Business Networking where we connecting clients to relevant persons, factories, companies, consumers, etc. to make your dreams come through for you,

• Drafting business plans for all kinds of business, with 5-10 year Implementation Strategy, Expansion Strategy, Budget, Financial Projections, SWOT analysis, Milestones, Competitors' strengths and weaknesses, Breaking forth and surpassing competition, etc.

• Business expansion strategies. Also in Personal and corporate brand development,

• Business Proposals Radio and TV Advert concept creations.

Question
Between the "gold" and the "hold", what are the possible challenges one may face? How do we tackle and surmount them?

Oh….quite a lot.

1. Putting your goals off until ‘someday’ and since ‘someday' never appears on the calendar, you'll never accomplish them. If a goal is important to you, start working on it today.

2. Waiting to take action until you 'feel' ready. Don’t!! If you wait, you might be waiting a long time. Take action and you may gain the ambition and readiness you need to keep going. It's unlikely that you're going to gain a sudden burst of inspiration out of the blue.

3. Not anticipating the tough times or underestimating how hard it will be. Think about potential pitfalls that you might face and develop a plan for dealing with those times when you might be tempted to give up.

4. Viewing mistakes as failure. Progress rarely comes in a straight line. Recognize that you're going to mess up sometimes and don’t give up. Remember, mistakes are proof that you are trying.

5. Setting your sights too high. Focusing too much on a big goal can be overwhelming. Establish short-term objectives and celebrate each milestone along the way

Question
Please share your major sources of inspiration and the things that keep you going in the face of challenges.

My visions for everything I do in life give me strength. When you write the visions and make it plain, you will run and not faint. When it gets tough at any point in any of the things I do, I ask myself, “Cryxtal, why are you doing this?” That’s why I encourage people to write a business plan for their businesses, careers, talents etc. It is like the bible, the constitution of your business or whatever you are venturing into. In there, from the beginning, you know what you intend to do and in the course of running with it, you go back to that constitution and check yourself if you are still in line with your purpose. God never gave us anything that is useless, everything he gives to useful and to be utilized. He gave us Brains so you don’t disturb him all the time. Please use it. But at any point where you feel you can’t handle it all, just hit me up on any of my handles.

But at any point where you feel you can’t handle it all, just hit me up on any of my handles:

The past few weeks of recovery have been tough, but beautiful. I'm finally back on my feet, feeling stronger and ready to get back to life. I'm especially thankful to my Nurse Susu for loving me and being by my side every step of the way - I don't deserve U , my parents & siblings, in-laws & close friends for the love, support and prayers, my Pastors - Pastor Tony Rapu & Pastor Del Balogun of TPH, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya and Pastor Bayo Adeyokunnu - for constantly praying with and for me. And of course to Dr Wodajo & Dr Miralli & their teams - who God used to operate on me successfully.

I'm thankful for life, provision and healing. Pls dont feel bad, or msg me with any worries.. God has done it, just thank Him for me.
The pain will eventually go away but the scar won't - and I'm glad because it's a reminder to me of what God has done, and evidence to you of what He CAN do. I'm not stronger or better than anyone. I'm just a living testimony that no matter what u face, U can survive & thrive, by God's grace."

Celebrities / Re: Banky W Thanking God For A Successful Surgery (photos) by robertmoses: 7:57pm On Nov 09, 2017
I'm sharing these because they're proof of what God has brought me through. And because somewhere out there, I know there's someone who needs to hear this.

For those who've been wondering why I've been away so long..I had my 3rd surgery on a rare strain of skin cancer tumours in my shoulder last month. The first 2 times were over 10 yrs ago, then it recently resurfaced. But this isn't a sad story as much as it is a reminder, and a testimony.
A reminder that you should never take life for granted. You only get 1 shot. Some people went to sleep and never woke up. Many others have lost the battle to cancer and other illnesses. Many are still fighting. U never know when your time will be up so don't waste another minute. It's also a testimony about the goodness of God. I think I had to go through this again to remember how merciful God is to me; Lord knows I don't deserve it but He saves me time and again anyway. I keep saying I need to write a book. I really, really do.

Sports / Anthony Joshua Overcomes Broken Nose To Defeat Carlos Takam In Round 10 by robertmoses: 12:26am On Oct 29, 2017
Anthony Joshua (20-0, 20 KOs) retained his IBF/WBA heavyweight titles with a premature 10th round stoppage over his replacement opponent #3 IBF Carlos Takam (35-4-1, 27 KOs) on Saturday night on Sky Box Office PPV and Showtime Boxing from the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. The official time of the stoppage was at 1:34 of round 10.

The boxing fans at ringside booed the stoppage of the fight, as they felt that Joshua should have been allowed to try and finish Takam, who was still on his feet at the time the fight was halted.

Joshua hurt the 36-year-old Takam with a right uppercut in round 10. Joshua then unloaded with some solid shots that caused the referee to step in early to stop the contest. Takam didn’t look that badly hurt, but referee Phil Edwards halted it anyway out of a precaution. Takam was cut over both eyes, but he was still fighting bravely.

Sports / (breaking): Leicester City Name Puel As Manager by robertmoses: 11:53am On Oct 26, 2017
Source: http://www.binafeya.com/2017/10/leicester-city-name-puel-as-manager.html?m=1

English Premier League clubside Leicester City have signed on Frenchman Claude Puel as their new manager on a three-year deal.

Former Southampton boss Puel replaced Craig Shakespeare who was sacked last week with Leicester, the 2016 English champions, third-bottom of the table.

“It’s a great privilege to become the new manager of Leicester City – a club whose values and ambitions are closely aligned to my own,” the 56-year-old Puel said on Leicester’s website.

“The opportunity to help the club build on its remarkable recent achievements is a truly exciting one and I’m looking forward to working with the owners, players, staff and supporters to deliver further lasting success.”

Leicester, who followed their title-winning campaign with a 12th-place finish last season, said assistant manager Michael Appleton would remain in his role.
He had stood in for two games since Shakespeare’s sacking and won both.

Vice-chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha described Puel as “a perfect fit”.

“Upon meeting Claude, his attention to detail, knowledge of our squad, understanding of our potential and his vision to help us realise it were extremely impressive,” he said.

“He quickly emerged as the outstanding candidate and I am delighted we will have the opportunity to reinforce our long-term vision, aided significantly by his expertise.”

Puel, who previously managed AS Monaco, Lille, Olympique Lyonnais and Nice, led Southampton to eighth in the Premier League last season.

His performance at Southampton was in spite of losing a number of key players in high-profile transfers.
He also guided them to the League Cup final where they lost 3-2 to Manchester United.

But he was sacked after a poor finish to a campaign during which Southampton scored only 41 goals in 38 league games.

Shakespeare was appointed Leicester manager in March following the dismissal of Italian Claudio Ranieri nine months after he led the team to their first-ever English top-flight title.

Leicester are 14th in the Premier League and host Everton in Puel’s first game in charge on Sunday.

Politics / Women Deserve Honour - Gov. Dickson At National Women's Conference by robertmoses: 11:03pm On Oct 24, 2017
Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has praised women for their invaluable contribution to nation building.

He said one of the best ways to encourage women to be steadfast in their roles was by honouring them.

The Governor spoke on Tuesday at the 17th National Women's Conference of the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO), which held at the Eko Hotel, Lagos. Tagged "She creates, she transforms".

Governor Dickson in his goodwill message commended the first lady of Lagos State, Mrs Bolanle Ambode for preserving this tradition, 17 years after the programme was first launched.

The Governor believes the tradition of bringing together the wives of Lagos State officials to honour those of them who have excelled in their various fields of endeavour was commendable and promised to replicate it in Bayelsa State.

The event, amongst other things, honoured the very first female mechanic in Nigeria, Miss Sandra Aguebor.

In attendance were the governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki and Gov Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State.

Also in attendance was the Oba of Lagos, His Highness Oba Rilean Akiolu, wife of the vice president, Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo and wives of other governors.

Religion / "MARK THE END" By Pastor Wale Adedipe by robertmoses: 9:25pm On Oct 24, 2017
"Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace" Psalm 37:37 (KJV).

Everybody has three stages of existence, the past, the present and the future (the end).

I categorize everybody alive into four (4) major groups.

(1) People that focus on the past;
They only focus on where they were (position or level of accomplishments), who they were. I call them yesterday people that are alive today. The people in this category can not function well and maximize their today because the only thing they see is their past.

The Bible says in Isaiah 43:18-19 "Remember ye not the former thing: neither consider the things of old. Behold I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the dessert. Paul says in Philippians 3:13 "But this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before".

(2) People that focus on the now;
The people in this category possess now alone mentality. They are carried away by pleasure or the pains/challenges of today. Isaiah 22:13 "And behold joy and gladness, slaying of oxen, and killing sheep eating flesh, and drinking wine: let us eat and drink: for tomorrow we shall die". They see nothing in their tomorrow and because of this they don't prepare for the future.

(3) People that focus on the future alone;
They talk about great future without the readiness to do anything to realize it. The future holds nothing for them. The future is empty when they get there because they did nothing to secure the future.

(4) There are people that learn from the/their past so that they can correct and improve their now to secure a better future (the end).

Politics / BAYELSA: Over 300 Displaced Peremabiri Residents Returns Home by robertmoses: 9:14am On Oct 24, 2017
The Bayelsa State Government has expressed joy over the safe return of some indigenes of Peremabiri community in Southern Ijaw local government area of the state, nearly two years after they were forced to relocate from the area.

The over 300 indigenes made up of men, women and children fled from the community following wide spread violence that erupted there and were camped by the state government since 2015 with the best treatment meted to them.
They however returned to their community last Saturday amidst fanfare as they rejoiced and danced applauding the restoration government for all it did for them.

Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson in a statement released in Yenagoa at the weekend noted that their safe return signaled the dawn of peace to the once troubled community.

He on behalf of the state government expressed profound gratitude to Governor Seriake Dickson for providing a safe place in Yenagoa for the displaced persons and picking up all their bills for almost two years, saying the governor demonstrated the commitment of a leader who is passionate about the welfare of his people.

In the statement, the Commissioner also thanked security agents for restoring the peace of the community and charged them to maintain it while also calling on leaders and members of Peremabiri to work towards building a strong bond of unity, tolerance and love.

Iworiso-Markson urged them not to allow their community to go through such a dark moment again because of the interest of few persons and stressed that now was the time to move forward and support the efforts of the government.

The statement read in part " Now that the once displaced persons have safely returned to their community and are integrated, it is time for members of the community to work towards maintaining peace and stability. For us as a government we have done our part and we will continue to do the needful.

" We thank His Excellency, Governor Seriake Dickson for his support to the people and also security agents for the role they played leading to the return of the people. This government is all about peace, security and the welfare of our people".

The crisis in Peremabiri community broke out as a result of the 2015 governorship election and the then Paramount Ruler, Progress Never-Die was also a victim as he was shot by hoodlums hired by some desperate poiticians but luck came his way as he was flown abroad by the state government for adequate medical attention.

Politics / Governor Dickson Calls On President To Unite Nigeria by robertmoses: 8:17am On Oct 24, 2017
The Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently unite Nigeria, because according to him, the country is currently too divided and left to drift for too long.

The Governor also reiterated his call for the restructuring of the country and urged the Federal Government to constitute a bi-partisan body to come up with the framework to restructure the country.

Governor Dickson said restructuring will address the concerns of resource control, the kind of Police and Judiciary we should have as well as their funding, the number of federating units and their funding and the system of government, we should operate as a nation.

The membership of the body according to the Governor, should include, federal government officials, political parties, state governors, representatives of state and national assemblies, organized labour, socio-cultural organizations and other critical stakeholders.

Bayelsa State Governor, Honourable Henry Seriake Dickson has called on the people of the state to discountenance the rumour making the rounds that, the Nigerian Army authorities are carrying out a medical outreach to endanger the health and safety of the people.

A statement signed by the Governor's Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Francis Ottah Agbo noted that the Governor made the call, while receiving a letter of commendation from the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai in Government House, Yenagoa on Friday, October 20.

Governor Dickson, who described the rumour as unfounded, urged Nigerians not to panic, but rather cooperate with the military in discharging its medical outreach and community support initiatives, which he said were designed to impact positively on the people.

With 257,093 cases, Nigeria has been rated 5th country with the highest pollution and mortality deaths across the globe in one year.

Increasing pollution is said to be proving deadlier than war, natural disasters or smoking, having been responsible for at least 9 million premature deaths.

A new report published in the Lancet medical journal puts India at No1 with 2,515,518 (24.5 percent), China at No.2 with 1,838,251 (19.5 percent),followed by Pakistan with 311,189 deaths (21.9 percent).

Bangladesh is in the 4th position with 260,836 deaths (26.6 percent).

The report is based largely on 2015 data from the Global Burden of Disease.

Politics / Bayelsa Sets Up Special Court To Prosecute Payroll Fraud by robertmoses: 2:01pm On Oct 19, 2017
Gov. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa has authorised the establishment of special court to fast track the prosecution of those indicted in the payroll fraud in the state civil service.

Recalls that Dickson had set up a prosecution team following staff verification exercise that uncovered 5, 000 ghost workers in Bayelsa public service.
The governor spoke on Thursday in Yenagoa, when he addressed members of the Committee on Public Service Reforms.

He said that government had alerted the Commissioner of Police and had constituted a committee to prosecute those inflicted in the fraud.
The nine-man judicial commission is headed by Justice Doris Adokeme.

“We have contacted the Commissioner of Police on the need for prosecution. I can assure you that no innocent person would be affected.

“That is why the Judicial Commission of Inquiry is there. Anybody who has a case, anybody who feels he is not fairly treated has the chance to go there.

“The prosecution team is waiting and the courts are waiting to commence action soon,” Dickson said.

The governor reiterated his resolve to do everything necessary to stop the bleeding of the state finances by some greedy unscrupulous elements.

Recalls that a staff audit constituted in May 2016 to probe the payroll fraud in the local government system discovered 3,243 unauthorised employees in the Rural Development Authorities, and 3,037 in the eight constitutionally recognised local government areas.

Dickson lamented that the probe into the entire public service had uncovered widespread corruption costing the state about N1 billion every month.

Dickson ordered the compilation of the names of the alleged salary fraudsters, during one of the meetings with the committee chaired by the Deputy Governor, retired Rear Adm. Gboribiogha John Jonah.

According to Dickson, the first practical step towards implementing the painstaking reforms, is that those discovered to be drawing salaries from multiple agencies of the state, would stop receiving their pay with effect from October.

Mr Daniel Iworiso-Markson, Commissioner for Information and Orientation, confirmed this in a telephone interview that full action on the committee’s report would commence soon.

“We are talking about fraud perpetrated over the years that has made the state to lose billions of Naira.

“So if the governor, who demonstrated the courage to take on this evil, is making moves to prosecute them, then it should not be a surprise,’’ Iworiso-Markson said.
