As per basic salary, a consultant earns more. But as per the amount they can make, a professor makes more. Professors win millions of dollar in research grant in USA. Lots of professor have many graduate students and post docs that they pay salaries to work for them. But then you need to be a good researcher and in fields that are in demand. |
You are wrong dear. THere is nothing like such. I know lots of people who won it and many are from humble background. The only similar thing among the winners is that they are brilliant. Of all those that won it I know(I personally know not less than 5), none of them has any political connection nor is their father or relative a politician. Those guys are those whose parents you would meet in village market selling this or that. onlysuccess: |
I have a similar situation. A friend at home in Nigeria told me tale how he survives from church and how his bus is in bad condition and as such he couldn't use it to work. After thinking it over, I had two options: just dash him 10k or voluntarily lend him all the money he needed to repair the car. But since dashing him money although would made me feel I have helped my friend, I decided that the best way to help him is to teach him how to fish, rather than giving him fish. So, I asked him how much is needed to repair it. He replied it is 70k I then told him I will lend him 60k and give him 10k as my own personal free contribution. We talked of how he can pay back by December, something like paying a weekly amount into my bank account. A few weeks later, he send me a message saying the bus have problem and he is returning it to the mechanic. Then nothing again was heard from him. I was expecting him to brief me on the progress of the repair but nothing. I then sent him message asking how far with the repair but he would keep telling me he would email me. December came and nothing from him. I got tired. I might just start dashing friends who want to borrow from me money. But I have this philosophy, teach a friend how to fish and not just give him a crumb of fish. Unfortunately, it seems some friends try to exploit this. If any friend come to me to borrow money I will still lend him but male sure that what he wants to do is feasible. It is always joyous knowing one helps a friend start making a living or overcoming some problem. |
Both are very hardworking. The only difference is that the igbos are a little more aggressive in pursuing money and like taking pleasure in his success unlike hausa/Fulani that prefer to be quiet about it. |
It is unfortunate when we twist thing just for selfish gain. The advert is utterly lie. Why did they not mention the chief of naval staff when they listed defense chiefs. The chief of naval staff is from South West. Also, let's go ahead and list executive secretaries and those on charge of all parastals and establishment in the country. It is unfortunate we tell lie to wipe up hatred and emotion this is bad. Let's be factual with things. |

Lekewatt:The op should mind his use of the word Igbo. There are more than 30 million of them and using the view of some to tag a whole people shows lack of understanding of diversity of view. One of the bane of Nigeria as a nation is the tagging of a tribe based on the action of some people from that tribe. This is highly unfortunate. So, let's learn to address each individual based on his view rather than rumping everyone together. |
To the best of my knowledge no Nigerian higher institution offers undergraduate or postgraduate studies in Nuclear Engineering. Nuclear Engineering is an exciting, wide and richly rewarding discipline. As a nuclear engineer, one can specialize in Nuclear medicine, medical imaging, nuclear reactor design and operation, oil exploration, quality control in aeronautical industries and all manufacturing industries, and most of all one will be at the frontier of research into the nature of matter. It also find use in semiconductor manufacturing in the area of neutron transmutation doping, detection of hidden firearms, explosives and other countless applications. Currently, efforts are in top gear to make nuclear fusion a source of abundant energy on earth. |
Do you have interest in Nuclear Engineering? What was your undergraduate major? Just contact me if you are very interested in Nuclear Engineering. cosimodervn: |
The cost of attending a top US school is very much. Berkeley fees is about 32K. Stanford is about 45K.i bet the schools Kano government is sponsoring some of her people have small to medium school fees. So, PRESSID costs more per student. gbengress1: |
Stop this fraud! I wish I can set EFCC against you. ChEkWaSIyKe: |
If I am right, the aptitude test is a fraud. There may be a genuine one. But the one my fiancée got was a fraud. She had told me that she got the invitation although she did not apply. Being a fraud expert, at least in my own right, I went to work. I clicked a link supposed to lead to sterling bank website. Then googled sterling bank Nigeria. The two website were as different as black is from white. So, be on your guard. Never enter a sensitive password or your email it bank account could be hacked. Never pay any money if they ask you. |
9. The Shroud of Turin: Ever since the Shroud of Turin was brought forth to the public, it has caused much controversy. Believed to be the cloth which covered the body of Christ, some say that it proves that Jesus survived the crucifixion and that the Vatican had tampered with the carbon dating results in order to protect the faith. Of course the Vatican denies that but the discussion of its authenticity continues. This is a farce. Nuclear scientists tested the Shroud using radioactive dating technique and it turned out not to be many years old. So, it was disproved it that of Jesus. |
nairamaverick: I was posted to jos wish I had not redeployed not because of your article tho, because I believe God's plan for my life would still unfold no matter where I am.Good. Just be security conscious. Most of the time, I was always planning how to avoid the crisis point. For instance, Bauchi road to terminus market was a no go area for me. |
Jos is not that dangerous if you know where you should not go. Only the introduction of bombs that makes it more perilous. |
I remember one incident. The NYSC local government was located in mainly Muslim part of the local government. I had been there to register once the camp ended. Then fighting erupted and I did not know that people ran away from there. There happen to be a corper friend whose house was about 20 minutes near the local government NYSC office but located where berom peoples and southerners live. I had determined I need to locate the NYSC office and then use it as a mark to locate my friend's house. As I was on my way to the office, oblivious of the fact only hausa Muslims populated the place, God made me meet the corper I was visiting as I prepared to head to the office. I then told him how I planned to go to the office and use it to locate his house. The boy warned me never to set feet there. I was shocked. Imagine if I had gone there and some guys stopped me and on realizing whom I am, what they would have done. Jos can be dangerous. |
It is three years now, but the memory of my experiences as a youth corps member, starting from waiting with bated breath for the the place of posting to be pasted, initial reactions on learning it is Plateau State, the journey to Jos with forlorn face, initial scare in camp, then three suicide bomb blasts, massacre and, ultimately the great flight that saw me almost join the fight in defence of dear life but later ran away faster than Usain Bolt when it dawned on me that an iron rod wielding guy dare not stay in his house when he is sure some AK47 wielding people will come to snuff his life, and lastly, the events that led to my bidding the country farewell. On that fateful day, we congregated at the faculty building, in front of the faculty officer, UNN, waiting for the posting to be pasted. Visible concerns were written on many faces as no one wanted to be posted to troubled areas in the North. Then, the faculty officer, whom I know, suddenly appeared and told me "you are going to Jos". I was shocked. When I received my posting letter, the reality then struck me hard. Sad and dejected, I went home. Then the battle on whether to ask for relocation or not began. I am a child of God and believe that God is in control of my life. To relocate is to doubt God's guidance. So, I decided not to relocate. But my body was not happy. Throughout the journey to Jos I was sad and was a pitiable sight to beheld. A few days in camp, a man wearing white and a backpack was arrested near the camp. Everyone panicked. Corps members believed the man is a Boko Haram. But the NYSC director in the state denied it., saying he was a mad man. Corps members vehemently disagree, calling him a lier. Many of us wanted to run to the south. Then I ended up being posted to Unijos in the very Jos North that is very dangerous. There are roads you should not pass through if you love your life. Then there were three suicide bomb blasts. Then the Izarra sect fight with Berom people that almost claimed my life. On that fateful day, sensing some hoodlums might attack unijos staff quarters where I was living, I armed myself with an iron rods. But when the heavy sound of gun fire became too much, I ran away from the corpers Lodge toward the classrooms. When I came back in the night, I thought I would die that night. After this, I almost relocated as other corpers were leaving the state in droves. If not that other true Christians, particularly Deeper Life Corpers Fellowship whose member I was, though Deeper life wasn't my local church, didn't worry at all and were carrying on as if all is normal, I would have run to the South. I decided to encourage myself in God, knowing that God knew why I was posted to Jos: I didn't influence my postings. So I stayed put. Then, God later showed me why he sent me there. Being in Jos opened a door for me to get university lecturing job near a neighboring state in the south and scholarship to USA for further studies where I am currently. In fact, I was still in Jos when the job offer came few days after POP. Had it been that I ran away from God's will for me, I would be in thrown into the job market and would have smelled the scholarship I am currently enjoying. My posting to Jos was God's way of bringing great things to my life. If you are a child of God whom God guides, don't worry. Just listen to him speaking to your heart. Have faith in Him. But if you are not, then don't go to dangerous place cos you need his grace. Your wisdom is not okay to alone guide you in dangerous place. But you have an opportunity to cultivate close walk with God. |
I am intending to use Wakanow to book a flight to San Francisco. Hope I won't get my fingers burnt. Guys do you know any better alternative? |
logbon72: Hello, has anyone sent his/her bank account? Thanks. I sent mine a few minutes ago. But I think 40K is inadequate especially if one has American/Canadian universities in mind. Anyway, NUC tried. |
Hi, did u work as one of the INEC adhoc staff during the last general election? I asked the question because of the ease with which u provided the sort codes of bank branches in the country. It had occured to me INEC demanded it be provided. Yours truely was one of the adhoc staff. Hope u wouldn't mind my digression. logbon72: Hello, has anyone sent his/her bank account? |
