For cheering d price increase. Been seeking information on d likely farmgate price despite increase price of feed n other resources.

These forum seem d be d only robust forum for seeking info on marketing n production.

Its not going to be easy to negotiate d prices u mentioned, but d earlier we all start resisting rediculous price offers better.

I decided to smoke n sell my slow growing fishes to reduce d burden of feed n pressure to sell. So i can negotiate within d range u suggested.

If we all pass the word around and we can be strict on our farms, we should be able to increase the farmgate price of fish. Nothing is impossible and catfish farmers even if on small scale level should be able to live as comfortably as their counterparts with white collar jobs

N. B. Increasing the farmgate price of fish is just one way to alleviate the high operating costs in recent times. We should also look inwards and try to reduce our operating costs in all aspects.

Heloo everyone and my super bosses. So, I set out to get a multivitamin in abeokuta and I didn't get the 'loudest' ones I.e livestovit and aquapro. I was however able to get one MAXI-yield (I pray it will be equally effective).

How do I apply this to my pond, I mean the frequency of application and quantity. It smells nice tho . Yes, I have 1200 juvenile in the pond!

The price varies according to capacity 7.5hp goes between 120k-150k here in Abj. It might be cheaper in your location.

Yeah bro, the main component is the diesel engine, this is the time to get the engine asap. The price in the market is increasing as a result of weak naira, and the price will continue to increase because many are looking in that direction already to power their houses and businesses. You can buy now and keep till when you are ready to install other units.

Robonski's experience is exactly like mine. The loses (which i kept records too) were in hundreds of thousands. And recovery frm such loses isn't easy, let alone sustaining d interest in d biz.

I kept hearing d same pattern of feedback when i sought help. Looking back, I wish i took time to consult when trying out feeds - in particular. Learning frm experience could be bitter.

On d other hand, i have a rookie friend whom we started about d same time, and he discovered his own pattern of feeding and stuck to it, and he gets good returns.

At d end, without d right info, one is gambling.

Finally, i want to say, it is possible use our 2 in 1 diesel powered grinding and pelletising machine to provide electricity to your farm with the help of alternator, making your diesel engine to perform multiple functions such as grinding of feedstuff, pelletising and powering your farm rather than using your generating set as a sole source of power. This is what i am presently working on and shall be unveiled to member when it is completed. My people, lets put heads together and share ideas, experience on how to take this business to next level. Your contributions, critiques and opinion is highly welcome.

Thanks a lot. I have really learnt so much here. Please I have a challenge. I am a first timer in the fish pond thing. My fishes Are 3 month old.

When I started, i was changing water once in two weeks cos the water wasn't even smelling annd the fishes were comfortable.

After one month, I decided to roof the pond with zink and chicken net. Since then, I now change water every 4 days cos of the offensive smell that disturb the next compound where I stay.

So I want to know if it's the roofing that has caused this problem or do fishes normally Smell this way?

Thanks a lot Sir. I have tried my best to get melacchite green and blagdon but all to no avail. I even travelled to Ibadan to get them some weeks ago but all I got were oxy-furavit, fish biotic and livestovit and formalin. Can I use formalin pls?

my bro you see i am not a young boy & by His Grace i had being around for a while,even in this fish thing,aside all d Hullabaloo that recently happen there's more to all than the eyes could see, but it became obvious when I began to see some requesting to form a group and posting for consultancy and I laugh. Everybody is free to showcase his/her expertise though, when there is any to showcase.

You know me, I am not concern about how long or who are/have being founding fathers, I know who are those that are sincere and with genuineness to help and have the ability to help( don't worry I read through, and by His Grace there are people that we are privileged to lead even in the society in other spheres of life that isn't business oriented), hence we look beyond works, but evaluate motives. Even those that I wrote isn't all that could be named, but every spear time I check if I could help, whether here on nairaland or quora and it was the little time I decided to cut the list short(so if I no write your name, no vex, who am I to look down on any). Also I don't form or join groups or association, but I work with all when I see sincerity.

As far back july 27, 2013, I had directed someone to a snr colleague mr fish on this thread to buy equipment, not because I learnt anything from him, but when I was in lagos (igando to be precise) I knew him and dynamos farm(was my client) to be doing something worthwhile in fish farming in Lagos and the country at large.

I do my consultancy for people within and outside the nation if need be, but I refer most to individuals on the thread or outside that I understand to give valid solutions in fish farming and other agricultural areas/challenges. Presently I am in school doing my PG and I don't want distractions, though I still get distractions from some via calls, texts,fb

So my bro, I will say I be police here(Laugh ), though someone said I should leave the young ones alone and I said until I see that the young ones has brought out new ideas/initiative that I cannot meet, then I will consider myself aged.

We all have the responsibility to manage and monitor activities on this thread for the good of all.
And as usual I am still learning daily. Lets all understand that in life, some want to climb on the shoulders of others and some chooses to climb by kicking out others.

Yes this is my first time. Not yet started. The pond was constructed last year located in zaria in Kaduna State. but yet to stock. I intend to stock by mid- June. Do you know where I can get good fingerlings in Kaduna

Please, my fishes are dying coz they have tail/fin rot.
I started noticing 5days ago and I immediately use what was prescribed on this thread...WOOD ASH+ OXY+ SALT. Am using a concrete pond. Afterwards , I noticed no difference and i was asked to buy tetracycline + procain penicillin + salt. Which I started using yesterday. I have used it again today. I counted 45 dead fishes yesterday . And 160 dead fishes today. What should I do again please? They are juveniles...just 8 weeks old. Thanks.

@ robonski15 I have 4 fish ponds (17 x 15 x 4 each) I intend to stock 4,000 fingerling in them till maturity. Should I put all the 4,000 in one pond and be sorting them into the various pond gradually thanks
