I weep for Nigeria as I sit here and write this. I can not imagine how something so irrelevant managed to run into more pages on this topic than things we should care more about. Majority of you educated but yet illiterates who took ownership of this thread as though it was your birthright are not even up to par with real Ebonyians that I know of. Why do you guys feel the need to judge a particular group of people, based on your interaction with their local population, which does not in any way represent the whole group? This goes to show the lack of critical thinking skills that the Nigeria school curriculum lacks so greatly, and which is why most Nigerian can not make informed decisions. By coming on Nairaland to spew your ill-thoughts about Ebonyi State will not change a thing about the state and it's people. Rather, it presents you as a threat to the unification of Nigeria. If you allow your shallow minds to think outside the box just for minute, you will come to realize that Nairaland is not graced just by Nigerians alone, but by people all over there world. Therefore, you are simply identifying yourself to them as one of the many problems of Nigeria by not accepting your own. Language is a beautiful thing! and if you have never invented one, don't say anything bad about the ones you don't understand. If Ebonyians speak Igbo or not, it should never be a problem. They dare to be different, and diversity precedes our numerous qualities as a blessed country. As a Nigerian, I refuse to conform with any territorial state barrier, language barrier, and tribal barrier. Nigeria will be a better place if we can all live together as one, without limiting and dividing ourselves by states, tribes, and languages, as with the case of the deportation saga within Nigeria. There "SHALL" be no changes if Nigerians believe that we should be limited by our states, tribes, and languages and keep recycling the same ideologies decade after decade. As for the Nairaland halleluiah boys/girls who jump at any internet-enabled smart phone or computer to comment childishly on a thread, try writing your comments down with pencil, and then wipe them out with an eraser before typing them up for the whole world to read. Seriously, its a waste of cyberspace! |
In American culture, you don't ask women how old they are nor call them FAT. But guess.... you already know! |
Best advise on here. This is how you differentiate the men from the boys on here. GoodSamaritan: Young man, listen to me, and listen real good. Am a businessman with 10 years experience. I registered my company during my NYSC. I advise u do the same now. |
Useless moderators! I posted a topic like this a few days ago and it never made it to the front page despite my plea to the moderator. Tell me, what is the difference between my topic and this one? Seriously, I want to know. I see how you guys roll. Just give them small privilege, then go abuse am.Seun advise your people o. #walks out# |

I know there are a lot to do with this amount of money, but I need some input from great thinkers on this forum. To give you a brief, I am a recent graduate in the Technology field here in the USA, and currently unemployed. I have turned down a couple of job offers, and I am still going for interviews. It recently dawned on me that it is best to have my own business going on in Nigeria, and not worry about working for other people. Having said that, I need to know what you guys think about starting up a business with N800,000 or half of this amount. In other words, if you were given N800,000 what will you do with it? whoever comes up with the brightest idea wins a 1500 recharge card. You may email me (dbraham@mail.com) if you do not feel comfortable writing it on this forum. |
Do any one of you guys believe that Lebron James might go back to Cleveland ![]() |
Miami Heats has done it again! This back to back victory is another piece of diamond added to Lebron James's crown. The final score was 95 for Heat and 88 for Spurs. Much love for the Spurs though, they did a very good job, and I really do respect the hard work. Hey Guys what do you guys think of the game? |
God help us. The "fagotivity" is getting out of hand! |
No, the question should be the other way round. As a bachelor, do you eat? If yes, then why won't you cook? |
OP, I was in the same situation as you are now in 2009. I was working at Fidelity bank when a scholarship came through for me, which is equivalent to the sponsorship offer you have. To cut the long story short, I left the bank for the USA to start afresh at the age 27. I will be graduating in about a week, and saying there are a lot of opportunity to embrace you will be an understatement. I would advice you to go with the "more education" option and refuse to be an expendable tool for a bank. To give you a brief about my banking career days, on several occasions I had to put on bulletproof vests in other to go load the bank's ATM at a very dangerous location in Warri. Wasn't I so expendable? |

Dr. Ben Carson, head of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins University, made an exclusive announcement to the Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC) today that he is retiring and leaving the practice of medicine in “106 days,” coinciding with his 62nd birthday this September. Carson said he wanted to leave while he was at “the top of my game”. Carson made the shock announcement minutes ago in a speech before a few thousand conservative in the Potomac ballroom of the Gaylord convention center in National Harbor, MD. “If you were to put me in the White House…,” he said at one point during the speech, which sparked the audience of conservatives to their feet in a prolonged standing ovation and cheers calling for him to run. When asked in a Q&A session if he was considering a run for politics, Carson laughed and declined to answer but added, “who knows what will happen?” http://www.viralread.com/2013/03/16/breaking-news-dr-ben-carson-to-retire-from-medicine-in-106-days/ |
Hey guys, I just thought this was funny. I found the Pope's job listed on Linked in and it looks so unbelievable. Since when do people have to submit their resumes for the Supreme Pontiff? link: http://mashable.com/2013/03/11/pope-linkedin/ |

It baffles me how God in his infinite mercies created human being, and the ungrateful/devilish ones decide to recreate themselves! From what I can deduce from these pathetic creatures below, they actually though God made a mistake creating them the way he did, hence the artistic modification or swag as some would call it. As I keep looking at these pictures, it truly reflects the decadence of the society, mis-education, and ignorance at the highest level. Good luck with your new looks guys! I hope you never get to regret doing this to yourselves, because it's irreversible.

Soy milk used to be one of my favorites as a teenager, I consumed a lot of it until I left that same environment that provided it to me in abundance. Today, I was reading a book titled Stolen Harvest by Vandana Shiva, as I neared the conclusion of chapter one, Shiva stated that soy was dangerous to human health. I was shocked to hear this, but then I decided to confirm from other sources on Google, and low and behold most of sources agree with the health hazards Shiva had stated in her book. I know Nigerians consume a lot of soy products, and I am using this medium to reach out to you all about the dangers. link: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-mercola/soy-health_b_1822466.html |
0l'dirty:Exactly! these were the points I was trying to make. |
Taking a critical look at this pictures, I could conclude that these guys were murdered before they were thrown into the pool. I base my conclusion on the following reasons: 1. If they had accidentally drowned as their foolish murder(s) had led us to believe, they would be afloat as at the time they were found. 2. The posture of the victims does suggest that they struggled before their death. 3. If they indeed drowned, their belly, lungs, arteries, would be swollen due to excess fluids in their system, which would have made them float. Did any one, or am I the only one seeing that the second victims belly is so dried up that even the definition of his belly muscles are visible? What is the first things you do to a drowned victim? I believe it is to squeeze the fluid out of their belly and lungs by applying force to the chest and belly region. So this is a very convincing fact that these guys did not drown. 4. From the picture, that pool doesn't look like a grown men such as these guys would have drowned in a pool not up to 5 feet in dept... I could keep going on and on, but I guess this is convincing enough. An autopsy will probably be a good idea. I am a scuba diver and I do know a lot about indoor and outdoor injuries and water accidents. My facts are arguable and please feel free to leave your comments. |
rash47: Gerrout...what do you know about international politics? Baba dissected the issue very well;bad leadership, illiteracy and corruption prepare the ground for Ghaddafi's militiamen running sahara south to find abode in the haramist enclave. Mind you baba is not in the class of your shoeless president or any former living head of state when it comes to issues like this.Well said about Baba OBJ. But how I wish he was blameless... |
Ever since I became a member on Nairaland, I would say this is the best thread so far. Thank you so much for the priceless information. Whatever the case, I am either paper printing or screen printing this thread to store in my archive. |
I bought my MTN sim card for N 17,500 and it was considered really cheap at that time in 2003. My phone (an LG phone) was purchased at the rate of N 22,000. It is very interesting that I still have the sim card in question but have not been using it because I have been out of the country for about 4 years now. |
Hello Nairalanders, information just reached me that one of my grandparents has been kidnapped, and that millions are being demanded by the kidnappers. I just called my Grandparent's number and the guys picked up and started to sing some proverbial songs to my hearing, but I did not utter a word tho, not even a hello. Please is there a way I could track the cell phone number to an address in Nigeria? Please help, your contribution will be highly appreciated. MODERATOR PLEASE HELP ME PUT THIS ON THE FRONT PAGE, THIS IS AN EMERGENCY! THANK YOU. |
Very interesting thread. I love this! |
When exactly is the President going to wake up to his responsibilities? If he can not protect his country's territory and silence domestic terrorists, how can we trust him to protect and defend our country if a country like Benin republic which is not as populated as Lagos state decides to wage war against us? Another question is, does he derive any joy from seeing helpless citizens loose their lives? why is he ruling us passively? I am proud to say that even Y'adua (may God bless his soul) was more active on his sick bed in ruling the affairs of Nigeria! If GEJ thinks the masses should learn to live with bombing, why not let loose his family and let them have a taste of the bitter pill every Nigerian swallow on a daily basis. It has gotten to a point when I would say I do regret wasting my VOTE, and I hope i don't live with this guilt for the rest of my life. GEJ, God has entusted you with a great responsibility, if you cannot carry the cross of Nigeria, PLEASE STEP DOWN for courageous people who can. ENOUGH is ENOUGH! |
