On 24th/7/2017, the Kano state government's director general of media and communications shares the news of philanthropic service by a non governmental organization at Kutama and Getso towns in Gwarzo local government.

The organization Giwa Getso foundation that was founded by Alhaji Mohammed Giwa Getso has in the past expended over 50 million Naira on various development programs in the local government. Last week it inaugurates a girls school it renovated and donated four(4) solar powered boreholes at Kutama and Getso towns, Gwarzo Local government, Kano.

The event was attended by governor of the state Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, minister of women affairs Aisha Jummai Alhassan, traditional rulers, dignitaries from the state and people of the local government.

"The governor while delivering his remarks thanked the Foundation for the laudable initiative and other similar projects which it executed in and around the local govt and urge other philanthropists to emulate such noble acts in order to compliment efforts of government.

He added that so far his administration has expended over 300 million in the local govt from upgrading of their primary health centre to construction of boreholes and other projects."

Yesterday 25/7/2017, a non governmental organization, the girl child concern(GCG) organizes a graduation ceremony for Borno state girls undergoing scholarship programme in Abuja.

The GCG in collaboration with Borno state government sponsored the internally displaced girls including Chibok girls under the organisation of female students scholarship scheme.

The governor of Borno state Kashim Shettima enroute to London stopped and attended the graduation ceremony before proceeding to visit the ailing Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari.

Kebbi State Government is to offer financial support to criminals who repent to engage in productive ventures.

​Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu gave this assurance while inspecting arms retrieved from repentant and captured criminals at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.

​He said the government would assist them to engage in Agriculture and trade to keep them permanently away from crime.

​Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu commended security agencies for their vigilante, dedication and gallantry to keep Kebbi State secured and peaceful.

​The Governor was also full of praise for his Special Adviser on Security retired Major-General Muhammad Isah Dan-Hanne, for his personal effort to retrieving the arms and for accepting to serve the state.

​General Dan-Hanne who displayed the captured weapons to the Governor briefed him that, the arms were received mostly from arms robbers who repented and were sworn-in on the glorious Qur’an, never to return to life of crime.

​He told the Governor that armed robbery has reduced significantly in Danko-Wasagu, Shanga, Jega and Ngaski Local Government areas, as well as on the Koko-Yauri road.
​
The arms on displayed include, two AK47 rifles, sixty eight other guns and twenty-five pistols.

Members of the State Executive Councils, Special Advisers, Chief of Staff and the Commanding Officer (Rear) 1 Battalion Dukku Barracks, Capt. Aliyu Adamu and other security operatives were present.

Green houses are part of the steps taken by Borno government in its post insurgency agricultural activities plans.

The seedling production centers were built to nurse and supply improved high yielding seeds for commercial and subsistence farming to revitalize the state's agricultural potentials.

An Indian worker in one of the facilities visited by Borno governor Kashim Shettima reveals the variety of seeds used in the nursery. He said they are currently trying two seeds sourced from Holland and France, and they have been using seeds from 6-7 top notch tropical seed production companies in India, and other European countries.

In his remark the governor said:

"We prefer seeds that are ideal for the tropic because of our peculiar climatic challenges. Our target is on how to add value, if we can stick to best quality there are certain characteristics that our people prefer in the tomato, so any tomato with bigger size & moisture is the best option for our tomato processing plant"

Earlier this morning, the Kano state road transport agency (Karota) officials impounded a gulf 3 vehicle for not complying with transport rules and regulations.

The road traffic agency responsible for governing rules of the road and driving etiquettes in Kano state hogtied the driver and his overloaded vehicle in one of their offices to face the law.

One of their agents, Yusuf Auwal Kibiyancy who shared the story on his facebook page berates the driver's recklessness and reveals that Yola, Adamawa state is the supposed final destination of the car.

On wednesday 19/7/2017, former governor of Kano state and presidential aspirant, senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, paid a courtesy visit to the governor of Edo state Mr. Godwin Obaseki. The visit which lasted till late afternoon did'nt get much press coverage, apart from photos taken at the airport when Mr. Obaseki personally welcome the senator, there is no update about what they discussed.

However, during the visit, some Kano students that were sponsored during Kwankwaso administration to study at a private university in the state seize the opportunity to pay homage to the senator at the government's house.

The students mostly dressed in white and adorned with red cap to match the senator's regular mode of dressing are part of the 250 Kano indigenes sponsored to undergo various disciplines at Igbinedion university, Okada, Edo state.

Not everyone you see roaming with cattle or camping with cattle in the bush is Fulani or a herdsman.

A fully bred cow costs 100k to 400k, the bandits see this as a big ticket to quick wealth.

The main targets of the rustlers nefariousness and the worse hit are the Fulani herdsmen, april this year the cattle breeders association Miyetti Allah reported that over 600 of their members were murdered by rustlers in the last 2 years.

Following in sequence in the victims list are villages in the 19 northern states. There are reports about pillaging, murder and arsons meted on villages by same vagabonds. Miyetti Allah also reported rustling of its over 2 million cattles in the last 2 years across the states.

So, i think it's very unfair and disingenous for anyone to attribute the rampage & destruction caused by bandits & rustlers to Fulani herdsmen when in fact these activities are the herdsmen worst nightmare.

In an attempt to curb the emerging security challenges caused by activities of bandits and cattle rustlers disguising as Fulani herdsmen, the immediate governor of Kano state, senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso visited Asaba, Delta state this evening.

His visit like other visits to overwrought communities aims at thorough resolution of challenges confronting those communities.

Cases of marauding armed men invading communities & killing people were reported in Delta state with Fulani herdsmen being the suspects of the heinous acts.

Just recently, hundreds of women blocked a busy highway in the state to protest the incessant attacks that is killing & displacing their people.

The state governor Ifeanyi Okowa recently plead with Delta citizens to shun violence and desist from taking the law into their hands and have faith in the government as it fight the scourge.

As Kwankwaso visits, let's hope for best handling of the menace through appropriate measures that addressess the issues in order to protect lives and properties.
