Most of us know very little about this state, apart from its capital Birnin-Kebbi which we get to know from the nursery rhyme "states and capitals" what we know is not that much. In this thread i will share with you from the little i know about the state, if you're from Kebbi, been to Kebbi or once lived in Kebbi, please take a moment and tell us more about this wonderful state. Those with knowledge about this topic should also contribute.

A while back i wrote about the federal govt's anchor borrowers programme where Kebbi is the major player and the successess it recorded from rice farming. From the over 1, 850, 000 metric tonnes of rice the state produced in 2016, over 88, 000 millionaire farmers emerges.

How?

The state currently have over 300, 000 rice farmers, with 78, 000 enrolled in the anchor borrowers scheme. In the programme, farmers were given loan of N210,000 in the form of input to cultivate a hectare of land, which fetches them 90 to 100 75kg paddy bags.

75kg Paddy bag price

N9,000 to N11,000

Breakdown

If a hectare yields 90 bags and price per bag is N9,000 the farmer will have:

90 * 9000 = N810,000 ----- total one

If a hectare yields 100 bags and price per bag is N11,000 the farmer will have:

100 * 11000 = N1,100,000 ----- total two

Interest rate

The interest rate is 9%.

9% of 120000 = (9/100) * 120000 = N10,800

A farmer is expected to pay back 210000 + 10800 = N220,800

Minus interest

Farmer would be left with N589,200 from total one or N879,200 from total two

Two hectares = millionaire

The calculations above indicates a local farmer would become a millionaire if he/she cultivates two hectares using the anchor borrowers model.

Note

Last year 75kg paddy bag sold for N15,000 and the yield is sometimes higher than 100 bags.

Some farmers were not captured in this data, number of millionaires might be higher.

Most of them are women. Changing your religion in order to be married to a man whose religion allows him to take more wives, divorce you anytime by saying a few words, and to beat you when you disagree with him, is unwise when the punishment for leaving the religion is death.

Even though the Quran okayed beating of wives as a form of discipline, i don't think i will ever lay my hands on her. The explanation of the verse is, beating is supposed to be the last resort, but i still think it's not smart.

The ruling on polygamy is straight forward, unless you're ready to be just to all of them, dont practice it. Otherwise you will stand a trial for negligence/partiality/injustice before God.

A woman could also divorce her husband if she's no longer interested, those who gave her out and those who welcomed her to their son's/friend's home would sit and hear her out and make a decision to dissolve the marriage.

The Quran has also not decree a capital punishment for apostasy, punishment of death is applied to certain misdoings and tresspasses and the ruling is the same for Muslims and non muslims.

Yesterday 9/7/2017, eighty non muslims accepted Islam in Sumaila local govt Kano state. The reverts which include both males and females embrace Islam at a mosque in the presence of other Muslim faithfuls including the governor of Kano state Mallam Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

In his remarks the governor congratulated the converts and enjoins them to be good ambassadors of Islam. He added, converting to Islam and changing your name alone does'nt make you a Muslim, but fear of Allah and adhering to Islamic tenets is what makes one a Muslim, and that can be achieved by seeking unadulterated knowledge of the religion.

Before they proclaim to be Muslims, the governor asked if their decision is borne out of genuine love for Islam on their personal convictions, which they all responded with yes.

Former Kano state governor and Apc presidential aspirant Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso on friday visited Taraba state for condolence and conflict resolution mission.

The senator condoled with the state on the death of their former governor Danbaba Suntai describing him as a gentleman that was imbedded with rare gift of humility and respectfullness and above all a good and honest man.

He further commiserated with the government and the people of the state on the recent crisis in Mambila plateau and other crises that occured on some parts of the state and prayed for the souls of those that were lost during the crises. The senator advised the state govt to be apt to its responsibility and be conscious at every point in time and stressed that effort should be intensified by the governor and his team to avert further occurence.

The Taraba state governor responded by equally condoling the senator on the death of an elder statesman Maitama Sule, describing him as a detribalised Nigerian that stood for the truth in his lifetime. He maintained that the country has lost an illustrious son that was vibrant, eloquent and humble with a rare gift of accuracy and posited that he was a great man and great gift to the country.

Darius Ishaku who appreciated the advise of the senator added that, there is the need to speedily fashion out laws that would usher in peaceful coexistence in the country. Lamenting that monies that would have been used to develop and provide the needed infrastructure are regularly being diverted to enhancing security.

The senator later proceeded to the palace of the paramount ruler of Mambila Dr. Shehu Baju in the company of the state's speaker house of assembly, the SSA to the governor, members house of assembly and other political leaders of the state. He also met and symphatizes with the victims before departing to Abuja.

Last year after Kaduna investment summit, a French agricultural firm Vicampro partnered with Kaduna state on production and processing of potatoes.

The 120 million investment comprises establishment of a 2, 500 tonnes per day potato processing plant, cultivation of 10, 000 hectares of land and generating 30, 000 job opportunities.

The joint venture also aims to balance the potato supply deficit in the country, produce the annual 8 billion worth of french fries we import and start exporting raw and processed potatoes to other places.

This week the first harvest commences in Manchok, Kaura local govt. Congratulations Kaduna may you achieve those objectives.

Good to know, i will now be more sceptical about those low quality videos. Some that i have watched show people being beaten and burnt or stripped unclad and paraded around town. I dont find those funny.

What an irony.

A hilarious youtube video shot at suburban Hausa speaking community captured a deliverance attempt by a highly spirited persistent Pastor on an unmindful unconcerned mad man. "Royco", the mad man, was seen walking away after wrestling, squeezing and tearing the Pastor's shirt, leaving the man of God standing dejected and breathing heavily saying "finished, take it, take it".

In the beginning of the video the pastor was seen chasing the mad man with a bible and blocking him passage whenever he tried to leave, in a loud tone the pastor was heard repeatedly saying:

"in the blood of Jesus" "the fire of the holy ghost, the holy spirit" "all over your body" "mind renewal" "may your mind be renewed" "get it get get it".

The mad man interrupted by asking "where is your certificate?".

And the pastor responded "Jesus christ, Jesus is my father, who is your father?"

The angry man answered "who is your mother, you, who is your mother" and began walking with his finger pointed at the pastor.

The pastor followed him, then both of them started wrestling and fell to the ground. The onlookers burst into laughter and a lady was heard yelling in Hausa "Karku bari ya kashe royco" meaning please don't let him kill Royco.

After getting on their feet Royco grabbed the Pastor's collar and pose like Jetli ready to punch. The pastor gave up and let him leave.

It's less likely in some people, and not all that experience it get it in all photos/shapes/objects. There're tons of photos online check some and see if they'll appear like faces.

If they don't it means your right fusiform face area can only identify true faces.
