Yea. It rily happened to someone. |
Mr Adam Jones was the nicest man anyone ever met. He was about thirty eight years old, dark, slim, and good looking. He worked in a construction company as a gas engineer and a sales manager, and he was a widower with three kids. He made a lot of money and lacked nothing. He was described by those who knew him as a perfect gentleman, cheerful, and very generous. It was a thing of joy for members of Christ Salvation Church in London, England, when he walked to the church altar one sunday morning and gave his life to Christ. He had a problem. He was a heavy smoker, and could smoke anything ranging from cigarettes to pipes. He had been smoking since he was eighteen.Consequently, his major decision after conversion was to quit smoking. However, one year after that, he still continued the habit. He tried all means to stop smoking, but he couldn't. He prayed and fasted several times, but the habit still held tightly to him. His pastor at Christ Salvation Church warned him to quit the habit or face excommunication from the church. Even the members appeared to avoid him. He was later sent out of the church, and was told to return after he had 'truly repented'. He didnt understand why the urge to smoke remained even after he had saved. Didnt the bible say when you're saved; you've become a new creature? He often pondered. Adam went for a tuesday evening service at a church he was invited to. He met the pastor, Pastor Paul, and exposed his smoking problem. Pastor Paul promised to intercede on his behalf, and also adviced him not to doubt his salvation. After praying one evening, Pastor Paul finally heard from God. "Dont tell him anything. Just leave him alone" God directed. Adam decided to forget the problem and instead continue with his life. The number of packs of cigarettes he smoked gradually increased, but it didnt bother him. He just continued his daily worship of God, and focused on his job. One evening, on his way driving home, Adam had a head-on collision with another car. The accident was serious. He sustained many injuries. Pastor Paul heard of the incident, and decided to pay Adam a visit at the hospital. God spoke to him one night. " Take three packs of cigarettes to Adam". Why would God order such a thing? Pastor Paul thought. He later obeyed and took the cigarettes to the hospital.Pastor Paul met Adam asleep, so he dropped the packs on the table beside the bed, and left. One week later, he returned to the hospital. Adam was recuperating as he had quickly responded to treatment. While they discussed, Pastor Paul noticed that the three packs of cigarettes were still lying on the table, untouched. He stared at Adam "Adam, I'm sure you didnt see the cigarettes I bought you a week ago". Adam glanced at the packs "Pastor Paul, I saw them three days ago." Adam replied "But I wasnt able to smoke them. My taste for cigarettes just seemed to vanish. What happened?" Pastor Paul smiled " God did it." he answered " He has taken the habit away without your input. This is what salvation is all about. Your effort is not needed. Just believe and wait". The moral of the story is clear. If you've received Christ, and yet the desires of the flesh still remain, dont worry. God is still working on you. Dont try to live holy, because you cannot by your strength. Just believe and wait on God. Eph 5: 26. |
The day I married you, your eyes shone like the stars. Your countenance was as the sun in its brightness. Your beauty transcended that of gold in its refined state. Everyone thought me lucky to have you. You showed your love for me in the most beautiful way. But I was a very busy man. I didnt have time for you, neither did I show how much my heart yearned for you. The hospitals and the sick seemed to be more important to me. But you never complained. You always told me how patient you were, waiting for the day I would come home and stay alone with you forever. I promised you that this day would come. But it didnt. There was a time when you wanted someone to stand with you to receive an award as the best mother of the year at our little son's school. I promised to go with you. But I didnt, and you never complained. It was your birthday and our anniversary. You organised the most romantic night for us alone, and you begged me to be present for it. I promised I was going to be there. But I wasnt, and you never complained. I got a job far away from home. You told me how much you missed me. I asked you to come over for the weekend. I decided to give you the best weekend you ever had with me. I found us the perfect place; you would love it, I thought. I came to the airport and waited, knowing you would come and run straight into my arms; I would apologise for all and tell you how much I loved you. But you didnt. I miss you so much. If only the plane had refused to crash, and the skies had refused to take a soul; I would have been able to tell you how much I adored you and how sorry I was that I didnt show it. But I couldnt because you were taken away. What you dont cherish will be taken away from you, is what I've learnt. Never fail to show the people in your life how much you love them. |
There is a gift given by God Which is required for those in the mud Sin and death held me captive Lies and theft showed I was creative I was a true enemy of the father Fighting His words with so much laughter I could have thought about my folly Wake up from my slumber and become holy But I chose to be naughty Even nosy, foolish and haughty But when the Sun shined on me I could behold what I didn't see I saw the Wind flow in my direction Telling me of God's love for every nation What peace came upon my heart When I knew all over again I could start I looked at His face with unbelief But my spirit received awesome relief Then I shouted 'Lord Jesus, help me' He replied 'Just believe, then i'll save thee' I pushed away all my fiery doubts I decided to learn what God was all about His mercy has so richly reached me His grace has made me what I should be Jesus the lover of my soul Your blood has made my spirit whole Who can reject a gift so freely given And believe he'll keep on living It is as sweet as the honey in the honey comb It is powerful to raise up corpses from the tomb May It be given to those that desire It Who have repented and are on their feet To follow Jesus wherever he leads Till He changes our vile body, as His word reads Amen. |

I believe change can occur in Nigeria if Nigerians are listened to. We have the wisdom to change our situation. Comment what you think is Nigeria's or even Africa's fundamental problem and give a solution. I am really interested to see what is on the minds of a typical Nigerian, especially the youths. Let me start. I believe the fundamental problem with Nigerians and Africans is our mentality. We quickly accept mediocrity, are afraid to criticize averageness and those who do are termed "bad belle". We are also self centered and never want to do anything to make other pple better as long as we are not rewarded financially. And finally, we love to cut corners and find easier unreliable ways to acheive things instead of taking the long, certain prpductive, hard working route. SOLUTION: Lets change our mentality and be less fame and money seekers, and refuse to accept ordinariness but not rest till we are excellent. Only then will things change. Wats yours? |
