@Romeo

The problem I have with people like you is the lack of effort to put your argument rationally so others can respond in a civil manner. What is the point of your name-calling now?

Lots of people on this forum, myself included are IT professionals and I know the benefits of Internet (free or not free).

Nobody is disputing that there are benefits. The point is that if people don't have light, how will they power their laptop (if they can afford one) to use the free internet?

And how does the government intend to fund and sustain a state-wide free internet scheme? It has to be paid for, one way or another. There is no such thing as FREE WIFI. I don't see how you can't get that. You will pay for it directly or indirectly.

And by the way, light, roads, food, jobs are more important than free internet. The one that is available in Enugu state so far, how has it drastically changed the quality of life for the people of that state?

PS: If you want to do the name-calling thing again, you might as well ignore my post. Thanks.
Mr. Pie1ect!!
I was really directing my anger to the person painting Enugu as a very remote place!! That person do not know a thing about Enugu.

We currently do not know that much about this initiative and how it's going to be funded, all we know is that there is a plan for a free wifi for Enugu people. Why all these "Yahooism, it's not Lagos" bla bla bla?

Some people are saying that people do not have computers or wifi enabled ones, people can buy them the way they bought their TV sets if they want to enjoy the wifi.

We must take into consideration that Enugu has a lot of high institutions and the benefits of free internet in Enugu will be enormous academically.

I know the problem of power exist in Nigeria, But did that stop us from buying computers, TV sets and other appliances? or must we sit and wait for the day that Nigeria will attain 90% steady power supply to invest in such beneficial projects?

All the state indigenes will not directly benefit from this but will do so indirectly, even Nigeria as a nation.

Have you been to Enugu? Stop writing shit about a place you do not know.

Only bamowolo knows the worth of free internet access here! and i am very happy to read the things he wrote. The benefits of this initiative far out weighs the "no light, no road, no school, no computer" argument coming from you ignorants.

Bahamas, Botswana, Cape Verde, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon all come to mind, but it depends on what you define as "successful".
Bostwana's population is so tiny, 1.6 million. (diamond)

Cape Verde's population is less than half a million.(

Equitorial Guinea's population is 616,459

Gabon's population is 1,485,832.

these are tiny states

Igbo: Okonko festival where human beings  are used for sacrifice

igbo: new yam festival which may involve human sacrifice

Igbo: Building a house in the village when they don't have one in lagos.
I am Igbo and i don't know what is okonko festival.

New yam festival has nothing to do with human sacrifice, unless your papa returned to his former role as chief priest and re-introduced his favourite act of sacrificing humans.

The issue of house confirmed that you are very dumb embarassed, Most people can not notice how difficult the brain could be to use, but whenever you write something it becomes obvious. You must learn to use the brain like everybody else and stop being ridiculously daft.

Who are those "Ibo" people?

But you are a blatant liar! Igbo people contribute money to repatriate their dead people and never on the bereaved's account.

Taking corpse home(Ibo): is it not a waste of money to fly someone that died in America to his hometown in iboland? the financial burden on the family of the deceased is too much and i don't know why ibos have not reconsidered that culture in this millenium.
It's a matter of choice! It's not a waste of money dear but a wish many people want. Like someone pointed out ealier, your America does not abandon their dead soldiers any where and that should be abolished too.

It is degrading insulting people the way you do just because you want to pass home a message. My daughter's name is Ozioma and her xter does not depict an abusive person. Please show a little restraint in your choice of bad words, that will market you better. One love
I don't need to market myself nor do i need anybody to accept my person, you are really a nossy human being and a biased one at that. wink

What has being good in English language got to do with a thread about Italian language? Nigerians and their colonial mentality! Speaking the language of your host country does not make you an intelligent one cheesy .

There are threads about Mandarin, Russian, French and Spanish (created by me) languages in Nairaland, but why all the noise about this very thread? If you know the language just contribute or shut the hell up and move on with your disgusting (English) lives.
