would you mind taking a peek at the Romance and Sexuality sections of Nairaland and tell me if all the posters there are non-Nigerian. So all those randy and weird topics are posted by foreigners?

so, in your opinion, a woman should be secretive even when she's covered in bruises from head to toe? Not talking of Leilah here- just asking generally.

interesting. undecided

Don't really know if it's your own stupidity is keeping you from moving forward, but my dear, my family and I are African and Especially Nigerian, and honey, progress is the ONLY thing in we know.
Since when did this become a topic about being accepted by an English man or trying to change genotypes? Stupidity amongst Africans indeed!
And when did this become a Yoruba vs. Igbo vs English thread? Now where did this come from? huh Anyways, that has nothing to do with the discussion but if that's how YOU feel. But I can swear that Igbo aint for Illiterate folks, or I wouldn't know it. wink

It's nice y'all are trying to advice the thread that he should learn Igbo. If he learns Igbo, better for him, and if he doesn't, then he doesn't. He won't kill himself. It's not his fault he doesn't speak Igbo. He didn't decide where he would grow up and the type of folks he'd associate with the most <at least as a kid>. Now, as a grown man, if he decides it's best for him to learn igbo, the it's going to be HIS responsibility to learn it. And if he does learn it, it will be better for him, not me, or any of us.
If he learns igbo it will be better for all of us Igbos and not just him, i wonder how some people think and i am disappointed in this girl

ozii, why is it so hard to believe Leilah's situation? Are you saying guys can't be that malicious or is it because he's an Igbo man?

Regardless of tribe, an evil person is still an evil person. I remember in the late 90s when there was an "epidemic" of men throwing acid on their wives in Nigeria, would you say their wives caused it?

That's still YOUR opinion. And I don't see how not knowing how to speak a certain language should be SHAMEFUL AND DEGRADING. PROSTITUTING is SHAMEFUL and DEGRADING, as well as terrorism. So do be picky with your choice of words. WTF! it's not like he's even living in Igboland. Now that would be a different story. Y'all can't be judging others like that for real.
A certain Language? WTF are you talking there? your mother tongue is now a certain language!! what the hell are you always doing in igbo kwenu thread? if i may ask. I didn't know you have this mindset.

ghettochyk:
Talk all you want. In the end, it's STILL YOUR OWN OPINION. That's not going to stop him from getting a decent job or car, or get him into a credible university. And I'm sure that if speaking your parents' native language is a requirement for any of above mentioned things, I'm sure it's not going to be YOU that he'll be seeking such items from. In the end, this silly debate/argument will end in Nairaland. . . . which of course isn't the REAL world. and what you say will STILL AND ALWAYS BE YOUR OWN OPINION!! He didn't start this thread to see how many self-righteous folks can critize him. Because that would just be ridiculous. NUFF SAID!
A decent job and car is nothing compared to your heritage! let's just be cautious with how we advice people on this issue.

I know Nairaland very well tongue, check my first post or second post in this thread. If she didn't mention that her husband took her home many people would've told her to runnnnnnnnnnn as long as her legs could carry her (just for being igbo)

I've made my point sha, Nairaland is not the place to seek advice about igbo husbands because you'll be wrongly adviced and they where going on that direction when i re-directed them back to topic cheesy cheesy

Every igbo person with igbo parents has no reasons, I repeat!! Has no reasons at all for their lack of spoken igbo, it's shameful and degrading to our culture and people if our youths can not speak our language!! who will teach the next generation if our generation can not even write it?

But if you're mixed then a few igbo words can do until practice makes you perfect

tpia:
if you're referring to the side argument between yourself, mellow and oziomatv disputing the Igboness or otherwise of Delta Ibos, then maybe you guys should start another thread to debate that.
Maybe you should go back to school and learn how to read!! are all deltans igbos?

tpia:
The only Igbo man who is being hated on here is Leilah's husband. That's why I said you should reread the thread from the beginning.
Leilah's Husband is hated all over Nairaland because she wanted us to hate him

tpia:
Doublecheck what you're referring to as Igbo hating.
I am not new in Niraland and i said it before

Kindly point out the exact posts which are " Igbo hating" on this thread.

can you plz go back and follow this thread from the beginning instead of posting prejudiced comments.

99% of the posters/responders here are either Igbo, half Igbo or married to Igbo. So who are the Igbo bashers and where are you seeing Igbo hating?

The only person being bashed unequivocally that I can see, is Leilah. People were raining abuses on both her and her husband. And she was told the quality of her own man is less than others, since nobody on Nairaland or even Nigeria itself has ever done anything her husband may be doing.

I don't know what you are reading here. undecided
I know what i am saying when i mentioned "igbo haters" .
I said she came to the wrong place " Nairaland"
I am not new in this nairaland and i know them all

Maybe you're the one that needs to read from the first post, with just a single post you're now telling me to follow the thread, LoL

I won't say much on this topic but seriously it doesn't make sense to me that after 15 years of marriage with 5 kids, a woman will ask "Can A Nigerian Man Be Happy With An English Wife"? I must be sincere, it makes no iota of sense. I mean, this is the kind of question your kids should be asking themselves seeing how their parents go about their marriage.(someone correct me if I'm wrong) huh

If there's nothing fishy about your marriage then you need to work on your paranoia undecided Or what were you expecting to hear? That a Nigerian man won't be happy with "an English" woman?

Most Nigerians can be happy with anyone as long as YOU make them happy(this could be in many forms).

As for him cooking and all that blah blah, haha! You better PEEP beyond this! Nigerians can be very loving but very harmful on the other hand. Nothing you say can make me eat my words though so. . . . People are just strange. It's only a matter of time and circumstance.

However, enjoy your marriage. I'm happy for you.
