DRANOEL: you guys like mixing issues. if i can recall unilag was the first to introduce dress code.
what has sharia got to do with something in benue? is the state no longer 97% christian?
have guys forgotten that the rate at which pre marital sex is carried out in benue is alarming(HIGH HIV RATE) and this might be a way of tackling such!
the funny thing is that no such thing is happening in benue,i wonder where this info was gotten from my brother are you sure nothing of this sort is happening in Benue state? |

laudate: Oh, you have just had an encounter with romeo, the resident eccentric, shallow twerp on Nairaland. ask him to give you the English or Christian version of Aisha. Am sure he has probably seen it somewhere. . . . . .who knows? what is this thing doing here? this is not a new thread for igbo-haters! abeg comot for here jare, we are talking about dress code in Benue state and not in Anambra state, when any eastern state starts anything like this we'll let you know. Retarded bloody fool and i have not seen your contribution on this except to come here and display your foolishness and bigotry |

When I said some people are very dull, I was refering to you. I didn't say somebody was dull when refering to you, I said some people are dull because your level of dullness is so alarming, I can't believe it's all from one person.
Anyway, if you can take time out for a little recess, please give us the "christian" version of the name Aisha. Or should she just call herself "Aliveandwell"? there is no Christian version of Aisha, big fool!! and this still shows that you'll never learn something from Nairaland and why not say thank you Romeo for teaching me about this today!!?? |

denex: ARABIC IS A LANGUAGE, ARABIC IS NOT A RELIGION!
The meaning of Aisha is: ALIVE AND WELL. Is that muslim or is it Christian?
Why do people like to thing ignorantly? ENGLISH NAMES ARE NOT CHRISTIAN NAMES!
What is wrong with people. My friend's name is Seun Fatogun. Why don't you people say he is a Shango worshipper just because he doesn't have an english name.
Some people are dull. Some people are really very, very dull and enormously stupid.
I'm seriously getting tired of this Nairaland. Also, muslim women started wearing trousers in order to dress decent centuries before European women took it as a fashion statement. hahaha when you say some people are enormously stupid and dull, where you referring to yourself? i was thinking that by now you must have learned a lot from Nairaland and now you want to leave nairaland without learning nothing English names are not Christian names if we are talking about their Surnames!! but the first names are mostly Christian names (Paul,John,Timothy,Samuel,David,Joseph, etc etc) and that's what most of us inherited as Christians. When somebody is named Aisha or Ali, it must mean a lot to the people that named you Aisha or Ali for them to do so and i will not expect a moslem to be called Moses when there is an Islamic version of Moses(Musa) and somebody was pointing out the Mary and Maryam connection, fine! Christians are called Mary and moslems are called Maryam, i hope you catch the difference and Aisha is a highly religious and respected name in Islam |

Danmasani: See how stupid someone can be ? So because she is called Aisha automatically makes her a muslim,
Romeo or whatever u call yourself? are u intelligent at all or is it outright madness? which one for you? Do you know that most people from Southern Kaduna for example where i hail from bear arabic names like Bello, Haruna, Aisha, Zubairu and are full blown xtians. Consider this- Senator Haruna Zego Aziz or Mr Hassan Hyet, so they should be muslims ehn? Same goes for most parts of the north where xtians bear arabic name. I for one also!
See this is what i have been saying here. Alot of ignorant people are saying things they don't know. someone said women were whipped on Okada in Northern Nigeria?/ , where specifically did this happen? I'm going to need truly concrete answers or is ti just your obscure imagination. perhaps Seun should begin to ask for evidence-then we will see as some people will stay mute.
Do you know that riots in Kaduna, Kano, Jos also involved the murder of innocent muslims and destruction of mosques and Islamic centres of worship. I say because I witnessed it myself. So all those saying Islam this, Islam that have got to look into their own hearts. I pray moderates continue to hold on to what Nigeria is- a place where tolerance is at peak. For Babyiosi, PTH, Romeo and other bigots here in the house, pray, you learn to write with your senses than with your ass! your own stupidity has no boundary!! is Aisha the mother of Christ? or was Aisha the wife of Muhamed? if the southern Kaduna people bear such names then it leaves a lot to be said about their religion and beliefs i don't know of any moslem with the name of Mary and and if you tell me that some Christians in the north are called islamic names, then i'll advice you to look for another thread because you lack argument |

Infact let me save my breath for someone capable of logical reasoning. Who can support superfiscal claims with evidence that such events actually took place in reality not in their sick consorted mind aisha2: Yes Nigeria is a Paragon of religious tolerance, you are the gew bad eggs. when a religious head orders the burning of churches and gets away with it,that is a violation. I guess all those who died in northern violence are just unfortunate souls when were the hoodlums brought to book? Is that a violation or not? abeg ! WORD!!! i couldn't have said it better |

Afam: Do you think at all before writing or do you write first and think later?
So in your wisdom you imagine that a solution to the near unclothedness we see everyday is for people to look elsewhere when they expose a greater part of their bodies to the public? you are a bush man that needs to see the world and know how it works today Tolerance is the key to success and if we continue lacking that in our democracy we will never go beyond were we are today |

GUY UNDERSTAND SOMETHING HERE RELIGION TEACHES US WAY OF LIFE UNDERSTAND. AND HERE IN NIGERIA THERE IS NO ANY RELIGION THAT PERMIT INDECENT DRESSING AMONG WOMEN.
WE HAVE TO RESPECT OUR RELIGION AND CULTURE IN OTHER FOR US TO MOVE FORWARD. hmm i doubt if we are making a head way in this country with this kind of "set backs" |

Afam: Abi ooo, at least you have more than enough congrats. Anything else?
Maybe some of you (based on where you live or work or relax) have not seen near naked women on the streets of Lagos, I have seen them and the sights are not decent ones.
Well, just as people celebrate 419 celebrating reckless showing of the breasts by some here is not surprising anyway. stop looking at them! just turn away your eyes next time you come across a naked woman, is it that difficult? try somewhere else outside Nigeria and you'll see women dressed in transparent clothes with G-string to compliment and you ain't going to do shit |
Politics › Re: 90 Nigerian Women Arrested For Indecent Dressing In Lagos. by romeo(m): 3:39pm On Aug 06, 2007 |
Afam: If the exposure is the type that will force people to see naked women when they do not want to see them then Nigerians don't need that type of exposure.
The only place people have complete freedom to dress the way they like as it regards to nudity or near nudity is in their rooms or any other private place. without going far, one will know that you need exposure |

so wearing a mini skirt is now an indecent exposure? which means my wife can not wear bikini to swim in the bar beach or lekky? and i am not allowed to wear swimming trunk anymore? because i am sure the sight of my manhood bulging out is going to be branded indecent according to the policy!!
When did we turn to GOD? what is indecent to you might be attractive to me and all this noise about image of Lagos and decency is all crap if you have traveled outside Nigeria. This is a new generation and no matter what you old folks do you can not stop the phenomenon |

debosky: so if police are collecting 20 naira at the checkpoints then Fashola must have approved it?
it seems you don't understand the workings and structure of the Federally Controlled Nigeria Police Force
If Fashola approved it, I would've expected some kind of official announcement, which we have not heard of. The police carry out many illegalities that are not pre-approved by the state govt.
Now if you said Fashola on hearing about this should call the Police Commissioner to order, then I would agree with you. And about calling the police to order!! for the fact that he has not done it up till now shows that he's in full support of it @femionasan you have a point there about the holiday thing for mr presido |

Prince22: Sorry guys if u 're offended!!!
Most Nigerian ran to other countries because of wrong attitude, untidy enviroment, bad images of the country by individual and most of us want to still do thesame thing.
Let have a right attitude and make Nigeria abetter place to visit with good immages, it must started from somewhere.
Fashola!!! keep the good work and make Nig/Lagos a better place
Our ladies don't need to work around nude before they appear real or attractive
cheers!!! does it matter if they walk around nude? you can still walk around nude too as a man and no problem!! before western style clothing came to our land what where we wearing? and sex workers are not criminals!! if they want to clean lagos they should start with the area boys and not these poor ladies have you ever heard about the Amsterdam red district? check other countries when you are talking about image!! our image has nothing to do with this |

debosky: before we start blaming Fashola. . . under whose instruction are the police operating? is it the Guvnors directive or just a whim of the Commissioner?
you wouldn't blame Fashola for 20 naira collection at checkpoints, so I would exercise caution in blaming this on him
I suspect this is just police opportunism to make a quick buck and to sexually assault our women. It should be condemned and stopped immediately! please the governor is in charge of Lagos state and not police commissioner |
