I don't understand all the noise APC is making over Senate Presidency. I thought the Legislative is supposed to check the activities of the Executive. This should be the change preached by the party. The way I see it, we now have a Legislative not tied to any one party.
Lai Mohammed is talking about the development not going to support the party's agenda, How?? Is it the APC's agenda or Nigerian Agenda that is at stake
Is it a National Assembly or a Party Assembly
Frankly, both PDP and APC should park well, nobody should own the Assembly, it is a National Assembly.

Now we have a National Assembly, they should focus on Nigerian Agenda and not on PDP or APC agenda.....fullstop!!!
The C in C, has pledged to work with the leaders, that is enough.

Religion / Re: This Madness On Marriage Has Got To Stop In The Church. by roqchiq(f): 9:42am On May 17, 2015
Note:The word "Church" here refers to all who believe in God Almighty, and not any particular domination or even religion!(Believing in Christ is believing in Love)

Its sad that the church has completely forgotten/lost the mandate given to her by Christ, to love, just as God is Love. That's the simple message, all the commandments summarised in that one word. Love God, Love your neighbour, Love yourself.

How do you love God? I don't think its by giving him all your money, through tithe or offering, or making the biggest donation in church. Remember Matt25:40-45?? Whatsoever you do to others, thats what you do to God, and it goes further, to the promise of "entering into the house of The Father". Where else has such promise been made?? Where in the bible does it say, give the church money or attend all the church activities, and I promise you heaven on the last day.
Before some of you start ranting, I didn't say, the bible didn't mention paying tithe or such, yes it did! But it was not given as a singular requirement to be welcomed into heaven.

That is why I believe that our forefathers who lived a love-inspired life, are saved, despite having lived before the human coming of Christ. Don't forget that Christ has been since the beginning Gen1:1. Christ is Love.

Love your neighbours. The church has abandoned the teaching of love, focusing on worldliness, holding on to some traditions, adopting some modern fads, dictating guidelines, persecuting "unbelievers", shunning fellow human beings, trying to fit in with the world......all these and more, while not necessarily bad practice, has however clouded the Church's mind to the detriment of Love. We have become so focused, on identifying who is doing what in the wrong way, on acting as judge, jury and even jailer to those who we tag wrong/ungodly, we have forgotten that love is not just about giving a beggar #20 or #2000, but also about not hiking the prices of your goods astronomically. Its not just about, getting up for the pregnant woman in a bus, but also about not gossiping about the 18yr old girl who is pregnant in her father's house. Its not just about going very early to church and sweeping and cleaning the church, but also about not praying for the death of those you perceive are your enemies. Its not just about being nice to your village sister/brother, but also being nice to that random person who has no connection to you. Its not just about being generous to your friends or colleagues, but extend that generosity to that person who may never be able to pay you back. Its not just about helping your neighbour so that when your turn comes they might also help you, but also by helping someone who in a million years can never help you in any way.

As the Catholic Church celebrates Pentecost next Sunday, Let us (ALL PEOPLE) all pray that the Holy Ghost will descend anew on the "Church", and rekindle the fire of love in all our hearts, so that in all we do, we would abandon discrimination of any kind and apply God's love.Amen.

Religion / Re: Dealing With Misconceptions : 10 Things The Bible Never Said About Creation by roqchiq(f): 3:16pm On May 10, 2015
Stop confusing yourselves, the "bible" which you people like to quote is contradictory even in its simplest form. Since the beginning, humans have tried to explain their world and themselves, yet they seem to get more confused. Whether there is God or not, whether you believe or not. The overall message is simple and clear, LOVE (Not the diluted version you guys know). It's preached in every religion, understood in every language, encouraged by every folktale, and practised in every culture. True LOVE, that knows no colour, race, tribe, or religion. The LOVE which is "the beautiful scent that the flower leaves on the heels that crushed it".

I dare you to try it!!!!

He died for those that believed and convinced of his existence as a being.

Oh now i see....
Not shoving it down your throat....but He died for all, whether you choose to accept it or not. He don die be say hin don die!!!

History has that the name of God is written as the tetragrammation " יהוה"....hebrew letters YHWH....quite hard to pronounce eh?? The "e" was put there to help in pronouncing it.

You can't just "name" Him anything, you can derive your own transliteration, from your own language and use it. You can refer to Him, using what He means to you. its all intentions. Just don't forget that He is God.

When spouses affectionately, call themselves certain names, does it inspire jealousy?
Religion / Re: Since Jesus Is A Jew, Why The Alphabet J To Y by roqchiq(f): 2:29pm On Apr 16, 2015
this means you don't also accept "Jehovah" as God's name (I don't sha, but am catholic)

"Every tribe and every tongue shall glorify God"....Our fore fathers who precede the man (His Divinity precedes all) Jesus, didn't know the name and yet they too are among the saved,

"...and a virgin shall bear a son, His name shall be Emmanuel...." when Igbos shout "Chukwu"....isn't it God they call upon?

The name Jesus is derived from the Latin Iesus , a transliteration of
the Greek Ἰησοῦς ( Iesous ). The Greek form is a rendition of the
Hebrew ישוע ( Yeshua ), a variant of the earlier name יהושע
( Yehoshua ), or Joshua. The name Yeshua appears to
have been in use in Judea at the time of the birth of Jesus.
The etymology of Yeshua as derived from the new testament is generally given as, "Yahweh is salvation". So basically Jesus means God is salvation or God saves.

its better you find a transliteration (Different from translation) of Yeshua in your language and use it.

Faith is the key sha.....if you like shout Jesus from now till tomorrow, if you don't believe, then nothing for you....but again No one can speak for God, He can decide to grant the prayers of the pagan who shouts Jesus unknowingly, than that of the holier than thou.

@poster above me....both names are real....Jesus is just a transliteration of Yeshua....

GEJ didn't concede because of any foreign involvement, or any blasted peace pact....He conceded because being a true Nigerian, a Patriotic number one Citizen, He would not allow any Nigerian blood to be shed, if he can stop it. Mind you it takes only his silence or rejection of the results to kickstart the anarchy. Those who are saying he could not rig, You are wrong and in your hearts you know quite well that you are deceiving yourselves, it takes only to remove Jega and bam!! Election will go his way, and there is nothing you can do about it, except to start crying foul, rushing to courts, or as usual the Northerners will continue bombing themselves, and it won't affect him at all, after two months contracts will be given, money will change hands, and the whole fiasco will be forgotten(don't forget he postponed the date, and there was nothing you could do about it!!)

People say GEJ doesn't deserve being hailed for doing the right thing, ie conceding, and it begs to ask, how many Nigerians do the right thing? Then, how many Nigerian figureheads do the right thing?? If the dear General, had conceded defeat in 2011, would all these wasted lives be gone??#foodforthot, and don't forget Obj and his third term dream.

My people forget easily and quickly, what should never be forgot.

I will applaud, the Man who conceded defeat to allow peace reign, the Man who promised free and fair and delivered, knowing it won't favour him, the Man who confirmed that democracy has come and should stay in Nigeria, the Man who smiled when he lost the seat knowing that he has gained our hearts and dare I say saved our lives, the Man who led by example of how a Patriotic, true Statesman should act...Thank You GEJ, we are proud of you!!! Those with intellect queue behind Jonathan while those with shallow minds, queue behind APC. Unfortunately,Nigeria is a country where majority of the youths are dumb and lack intelligence. That's why you'd find them mainly shouting "change" and this type of change can be likened to buying rotten frozen chicken from shoprite, just because it is being sold at shoprite, and not because it is actually a good product.

Nice analogy with the shoprite frozen chicken....but the change is not even as versatile as shoprite. I disagree about Nigerian youths being dumb, its just that we love to follow the crowd so freaking much, just ask one of these people shouting change, what change they actually expect, and they would start spouting rehearsed and repeated pirated quotes, they have seen or heard from one person or the other.

Mr President may not be perfect, (who is?) and he is not a miracle worker for crying out loud, but the change crying team isn't the answer either.

If some of us would actually, be objective and sincerely look closely at the recent past years, taking the current national nd international situation into the equation, common people, you can't tell me things aren't getting better.

WASHINGTON TIMES: JONATHAN STEERING NIGERIA WITH STEADY HANDS

Nigeria has a date with destiny as March 28 and April 11 draw near. These are two significant dates that, on one hand, present Nigerians with an opportunity to strengthen democracy through the ballot.

These dates, on the other hand, are also beaming scaring danger signals. No thanks to politicians who are beating drums of war, stumping across the country, making campaign statements full of fury, with little about issues of concern to most Nigerians. As is typical of Nigerian elections, the tension is thick in the air, so much so that the putrid smell of Armageddon has enveloped the country. Fears are palpable, generating serious concerns among Nigerians and within the international community.

Nigeria has traveled this route before, not once. There are however reasons for genuine and heightened concern this time. The last few years have seen widening cracks along the Nigeria’s well-known fault lines of religion and ethnicity. The security situation, especially in the northeast, has been a huge sore on the reputation of the Africa’s most populous country. The abduction of more than 200 girls from the Borno State community of Chibok nearly one year ago, and the perceived lack of enough effort from the government of President Goodluck Jonathan to ensure they are rescued, are making the prospect of a peaceful poll a tall dream.

President Jonathan has had to take the blame for virtually everything going wrong in Nigeria. Admittedly, there are issues that currently feed this perception. They include the security situation, corruption and poor living standards of most Nigerians. Ordinarily, the buck stops at the desk of the president. The opposition seems to have succeeded in creating the impression that Mr. Jonathan merely wakes up on daily basis and does nothing. But things don’t always seem as they look in Nigeria.

That the president has been doing nothing would not pass the muster of nonpartisan scrutiny. What would be correct is that the president has actually done little to publicize the many things he has been doing. In the last six years, the government has been confronting more fundamental issues of growth and development with the type of vigor and single-mindedness uncommon in Nigeria.

The Jonathan administration would trump any previous administration in the effort made to tackle the near-complete collapse of infrastructure such as roads, transportation and power supply. The same can be said of employment generation and capacity development. Nigeria’s economy has not only survived major shake-ups affecting most advanced economies, it has actually also been growing in leaps and bounds, emerging as Africa’s largest.

He has perhaps taken an ingenious route to fighting corruption. He understands the difference between the symptoms of corruption and the underlying causes. While many had expected a frontal attack at the symptoms through demonstrative — even if unlawful — actions by deploying anti-corruption forces in a frenzy of mass arrests, media trials and public sentencing of suspects, Mr. Jonathan has chosen to allow the justice system the space to work.

He hasn’t stopped at that. He is, with the skill of a surgeon, identifying the underlying causes of corruption and taking them out one after the other. This is what he did with a fertilizer distribution scam, which had hampered food production and diversification effort for decades. Perhaps, he did not make enough noise on this, but the result of his approach is loud enough for the thousands of Nigerian farmers who now have easy access to fertilizer, completely eliminating the meddlesome middlemen. The action is equally loud enough for the vested interests to fight back and join the now-profitable president-bashing choir.

The security challenge is a bit more complicated. Mr. Jonathan’s emergence represented a paradigm shift in the Nigerian political arrangement. He was the first person with no strong political background or affiliation, and from a minority tribe to become a democratic president in Nigeria. He had not benefited from any of the important pillars of power such as the support of a major ethnic group. The template for success in the Nigerian environment requires much more than the timing of response to a security situation, such as the Chibok abduction saga. It requires the willingness of the players within the affected area to put the safety of lives and protection of properties of the people ahead of their own immediate political advantage. It is not going to be easy trimming the hair of someone who continues to run. It could take time to either catch up with him or get him to willingly agree to the need to solve a problem. The ability to keep calm rather than adopt a knee-jerk and high-handed approach in the face of treachery and impunity is a great asset the president is endowed with. This, as the opposition is wont to do, can also be mistaken for weakness or incompetence.

Mr. Jonathan’s civilized approach to tackling issues is built around the need to ensure social justice, equity and the rule of law. This should, ordinarily, be worthy of global acknowledgment and commendation. But the concerted noise from the opposition camp and the penchant of some international observers to rush to judgment without taking full account of peculiarities of an environment are a bit deafening and blinding to the reality on ground.

As elections are getting closer, the president is faced with the facts that Nigerians are in a hurry. They’ve waited for too long. This is a situation that is being exploited by opposition leaders, who have been calling for mob actions as against the rule of law. Mr. Jonathan has equally shown that he understands that Nigerians are expecting a leader with a magic wand, who could with a snap somewhere, turn age-long and deeply rooted social decay into an instant state of bliss. But the magic wand could actually be a possibility if current efforts are allowed another four years to take root, grow and bear fruits.

Sorry y'all, I been dey una group before, whenever aunty flo comes she renders me utterly useless, for the entire 3 days, then i went to the village and reported her to one old woman like dat, who took me to a midwife, the midwife gave me some herbs, which i soaked with stout, and just like that, my next period was very much less painful, just some small cramps, still taking the herbs though, but the next period is going to be the final test, am going to stop taking the herbs by then...#fingerscrossed.... My advice--go to your village and look for a local well seasoned midwife, and pray to whatever God you worship. try that.

I wouldn't be a muslim any more if all these were happening, that doesn't mean i'll be a Christian either. These people are spreading a message of hate and violence, if you are against it spread an opposite measage to your fellow muslims, but it's already being done, and they are being killed for that. So frankly it depends on the leaders of the religion, to publicly and vocally denounce these acts perpetuated in the name of Islam, and not talk out of both sides of their mouth.

I have nothing aganist muslims, I have muslim friends, relations and they are the as nice as can be.I don't believe in discriminations or stereotypes, an individual is an individual.

However, the whole saga of Isil, Al-qeada, Bokoharam etc, has got me thinking, then I sigh with relief when my Muslim friends convince me they are not preaching Islam, that they are extremists and radicals...makes sense because some 'christians' are not preaching Christianity.

But, the horror of burning a human being alive, and being praised for it, is confusing.

Then I watch the news of a Christian woman who went to draw water from the well, and was accused of making the water unclean with her 'christian' hands, consequently of blasphemy against the prophet, and she has been sentenced to death. The confusing part is when people are agitating aganist a change of the law that sentences someone to death. They are actually threatening to kill the woman if she is released. Why would you think anyone deserves to die for blasphemy? I don't believe the prophet needs us to fight his war, he should kill her himself if she really blasphemed against him.

Any religion that isn't pro-life, that believes in chaos, that preaches violence as an answer, that glories in death, that encourages war, that permits underage marriage, that dictates amputation for certain crimes......then there is something terribly wrong with that religion, and if some of the individuals following that religion cannot realise this problem, or even go ahead to twist its teachings to satisfy their brutality, then they need a brain check, don't they??

I had no problem with the General until I started hearing things like, 'power must return to the north', and it makes me wonder why the southwest is playing this same fiddle, then....in comes the VP candidate, and i realise...oh, they offered them crumbs. smh!

Seriously though, if the APC had fielded a different candidate, say Tambuwal or Rochas, I would have no problem voting for them, but when you bring someone who advocates for comprehensive sharia in an otherwise secular country, who admires religious fundamentalism, who believes power 'belongs' to a part of the country, then i'd rather choose to remain at status quo, than sell my soul to the devil.

And if you truly want to compare track records, really be objective, when each had an opportunity to put things right, how much effort did each put in, and how well did it work?

power belongs to no one, its not your right. How I wish another party had a better candidate than these two.

@Op if i understand you correctly, you are baffled at the blatant admiration in the tone of the general, when he describes yusuf as 'charismatic'. and questions such as
1. Why will a 'patriotic Nigerian' be in awe of the leader of a terrorist sect, whether the sect became violent after his death or not?; which leads to the next question

2. Why would any living breathing Nigerian, identify with the 'charismatic nature of a religious fundamentalist' dead or living?

3. Why would True Nigerians advocate for someone who admires and supports religious fundamentalism?

a totally unrelated question
Why do I have this persistent and nagging feeling our Northern brethren (they are our siblings, because we are all Nigerians, only troublemakers find anything wrong with this statement), believe without any atom of doubt, that it is their right to rule OUR Country?

Feel free to answer.

I just had to add my 2kobo biko...

Everybody is shouting CHANGE CHANGE, please what kind of change are you proposing, there is bad change and good change. Nigerians should be really careful, because while they are offering you change nobody is making a pristine interpretation of what kind of change they are offering.

secondly, to my civilian knowledge, military is military everywhere, and i am yet to see any military that has the right to protest talk less of mutiny, if this is the kind of change they are offering, then one day they will grant the military the right to plan a coup.

thirdly, i want a good change for my country, i don't want tribal sentiments or religious manipulations, any group or tribe that believes its their god given right to rule the country, who can't bear to see another tribe become president, and thus creates mayhem and chaos, should just pack and go, either Nigeria belongs to all of us, or you carry your own corner, give it a different name and rule as you like.

I don't vote for skewed/undefined change, I don't vote for continuity, I vote for a better Nigeria.

Islam is peaceful. As you can see that girl is actually an Ijaw girl. Muslim girl would never open her gown for you to see what is under. Besides she is yet to be married. Only kafirs keep their women to be as old as their grandmothers before marrying them.

I am 35. My first wife is 23 while the 4th is 12. I married the first when I was 18. No true Muslim will be this fresh and still remain unmarried.

This girl is Ijaw and was sent by Edwin Clark who is Jonathan step father. This I know because I have brother who worked for Clark as gate man but he actually was sent by us to spy Clark. We ave pissures of this girl with Clark drinking whiskey. We shall release it through Mallam Rufai's twitter and Facebook page as evidence. I can't believe your abject ignorance,it's quite amazing you actually know how to type or use the internet....

your 4th wife is 12 and you can proudly say that you are a pedophile and a molester
Politics / Throw Back Interveiw Of Gmb!!! by roqchiq(f): 7:22pm On Dec 13, 2014
Apart from GMB's fundamentalist tendencies, Nigerian youths should not tolerate this nonsense-a 72 year old man vying to lead us.Then what is our fate as youths...what's our aspirations...what are our dreams...Obama, Cameron and other notable leaders are all in their 50s or less. A man who is not in tune with the current trend of globalization...let's not allow this madness....his style of administration is completely out fashioned and cannot work in present day Nigeria(instead will cause more problems)...we don't need it. I don't care who wins the election but let's not jump from frying pan into the fire. #arisenigeria
