please you all should stop these bashings. Stop trying to force your faith down people's throats. We have heard you,we are sinners we agree. We don't need more people to join us in ''sinning''.

Do we wonder why,Judaism, who have even more history don't go around bashing catholics like this? And they can if they want to,bydway they own a larger part of the Bible. Yet the protestants seem to think its their god given job to bash catholics.

As a catholic i accept all your accusations, and i'll pray for you all.
To my fellow catholics, please learn to avoid some arguments, especially once you've delivered your facts, lest you bring sin unto yourself remember we are not advertising for more members.

Faith can never be forced on anyone, God has given each a will to choose.

Nairaland / General / Nigeria And China's Romance;your Opinion by roqchiq(f): 9:00am On Jul 11, 2013
We all understand that China is becoming (if not already) a force to reckon with in our world today, and Nigeria (my dear country) being Nigeria, seems to have shifted alliances quickly, what with all the new contracts, agreements and loans being made with China.

While I am not opposed to siding with the winning country and China being a country from which we can learn a lot, i believe we should step with caution. Today,we are signing a contract for China to build 4 new international airports in Abuja, Kano, Portharcourt and Lagos (anybody notice the exclusion of southeastern states?), yesterday we signed for them to help invest in our SMEs, then they gave us a low interest loan of $500m (how generous!), not to mention the chinese cultural centres springing up in some states (starting with Anambra, the commercial state), hmmm wonder if there's a trojan horse among these gifts somewhere.

The chinese seems to be taking over (literally they are everywhere), and Nigeria can't seem to stand on her own, she constantly needs someone to mother her ( and we are the giants of Africa), first the British, then the Americans, and now the Chinese. The chinese are very smart, they do know how to fleece, they want something from us,hope whatever it is won't cost us ourselves.

My advice is, let the romance begin, but let's not be a maga o.

My own 2kobo, what is yours!!

Whether lebanese or sierra leonian, or hezbollah or al qaida, can we just pause for a minute and think of the destruction those arms would have caused if visited on any society and then appreciate our security agencies for a job well done.

And those of us who seem to attack them for so called late action, even usa with all their commando and terminator was given sleepless nights by bin laden and it took them 10yrs,and u.k with all their english sensibilities allowed a soldier to be butchered in broad daylight (and some stand der dey look sef).

Lets allow investigations to unfold naturally abegi!!

Nairaland / General / Gunmen Raid Abuja Police Detention Camp, inmates Escape!!! by roqchiq(f): 9:11am On Nov 27, 2012
• Kill security operatives, free suspects
ABOUT 40 gunmen on Monday morning attacked the premises of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Federal Capital Territory (FCT), killing some policemen on duty and escaping with about 30 suspects from cells.
The Guardian learnt that the gunmen in two groups came to the premises at about 2 a.m. shouting Allahu Akir (Allah is great). One group came from the entrance to the place and another came from the back, shooting sporadically with a view to clearing all obstacles in their way.
According to sources, the first casualty was a police corporal, the driver of the patrol van parked at the entrance to the station who was shot severally and died on the spot.
Sources added that due to the high calibre of weapons used by the assailants and the large number, some of the policemenon duty fled while others took refuge on the premises.
Still shooting sporadically, the gunmen were said to have found their way into the cells where some Boko Haram and robbery suspects were detained and opened the cells paving the way for some of the suspects to flee.
The Guardian also learnt that the SARS commander, Seidu Ibrahim, a Superintendent of Police (SP) was alerted but whenhe came to the office, the gunmen had taken over the place and he could not gain access.
When The Guardian visited the place yesterday morning, the Commissioner of Police (CP) in charge of FCT, Aderenle Shinaba, had ordered that the area be cordoned off and was busy inspecting the premises. He was joined by the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) operation, Philemon Lehan and later the Inspector General of Police (IG) Mohammed Abubakar, at about 1.00 p.m. The police boss spent about 50 minutes assessing the situation. A squad from the anti-terrorism unit was drafted to SARS office located at old Abattoir in Garki District.
Some of the sympathisers who gathered along the busy Garki-Nyanya road where SARS office is located, said the gunmen may have laid ambush in a slum called “Bakassi” located behind the hill that envelopes SARS office before making an incursion into the place in the early hours of yesterday.
As at the time of this report, more security men had been deployed in the area.
A resident of the area who simply introduced himself as Denis, told The Guardian that the gun battle kept them awake for some time. ‘’It was like a war because almost everybody was awake but we could not come out until this morning,” he said.
The Force Headquarters, in a statement issued by the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer (DFPRO), Frank Mbah, said only two policemen were killed while 25 out of the fleeing 30 suspects were re-arrested. Mba also said that no Boko Haram suspect escaped.
Besides, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Onyeabo Azubuike Ihejirika, said that last Sunday’s suicide bombing at the St. Andrews Military Protestant Church inside the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji in Kaduna State was “preventable.”
Ihejirika, who said the attack was due to “command inadequacy” told top military and political leaders including the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Olusola Obada, GovernorsEmmanuel Uduaghan (Delta) and Theodore Orji (Abia), Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ola Sa’ad Ibrahim, Service Chiefs - Vice Admiral Dele Joseph Ezeoba (Navy) and Air Marshal Alex Sabundu Badeh (Air Force) that “the event of yesterday (Sunday) is certainly a very sad one. A Board of Inquiry (BOI) isalready instituted to unravel what happened, which we believe could have been prevented.”
Ihejirika also said that to tackle the violence in the country, the Nigerian Army Training Centre in Kontagora had been expanded to incorporate advanced recruitment training and Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency (CTCOIN) training inaddition to conventional warfare training directorates. Also, CTCOIN has been made mandatory for all new recruits and newly commissioned Nigerian Army officers. Altogether, he said that a total of 278 officers and 1,952 soldiers of the Army had received CTCOIN training.
The Army chief also readjusted the Areas of Responsibility (AOR) for the 81 and 2 Divisions as regards Lagos and Ogun States.
Under the new arrangement, Ogun State, which hitherto was under 2 Division is now under the 81 Division which has its headquarters in Lagos. The Brigade in Abeokuta becomes the 35 Artillery Brigade under 81 Division. A new brigade, 32 Artillery Brigade has also been established in Akure under 2 Division.
Also, President Goodluck Jonathan, who declared the conference open, gave a fresh directive to the Nigerian Army to lead the other defence and security agencies in developing strategies that will address the current security challenges facing the country.
A religious group, Rahmat Islamiyya Association of Nigeria (RIAN), condemned the bombing of the military church in Jaji, that claimed 11 innocent lives.
In a statement, the National Chairman, RIAN, Abdullahi Awelenja, condemned the bombing of churches and other places of worship.
On its part, the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) described the suicide bomb attack at the military church as due to intelligence failure on the part of the military.
The ACF National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Anthony Sani, who spoke in an interview in Kaduna Monday on the level of insurgency, which has heightened since the Federal Government placed ransom on the leaders of Boko Haram saidthere was need for government and the insurgents to end hostility.

Religion / Re: Is Science More Accurate Than The Bible? by roqchiq(f): 5:34pm On Sep 17, 2012
people are funny o, you want to compare the Bible to science. Morons you cant do that, the Bible as a whole is relatively new,a compliation of different ancient books, not even chronologically arranged either by age or whatever. Its meant to be a guide for humans (christians) to live by.
"In d beginning was the word.....and d word was...''
''Moses spoke the Word.....''
"I am the way,truth and life.....eternal life''
''the word was made flesh...''
''...only say the Word....she will be healed''

The Word cannot ever be compared to science...you can compare the Bible all you want, but you can never explain the ''Word'' with science, and i dare you to try.

Remii: Honestly speaking, Naira needs to be re denominated somehow, either by removing some zeros as attempted by Soludo or printing higher denomination as currently being proposed by Sanusi. Soludo style seems better. N1000 is equal to 6USD or 4PDS at that value, N100 is about 65cents. We all know that UK has 2PDS coins. If the higher denominations are created with N50 coins, as being proposed, it should not lead to inflation. Nigerians need to work on attitude of spending higher denominations too. 50PDS and 100USD are not freely spent in UK and US respectively. CBN should be careful not to flood the system with proposed N5k notes too.

we can only hope in vain that 5k note will not flood the system.dat was d same intention wit the intro of 1k note,nd evidently it failed woefully. Pls ansa one question, y apply bad medicine twice,if d intention is 2 heal nd nt 2 kill

Henry120: This no doubt is a total embarrassment / disaster for the nigerian security service. This is not however to say that the nigerian state security service is not an effective intelligence service. For A.P to use this unfortunate incidence to derail the good works of the nigerian secret service and the support by some misguided nigerians to support A.P in it's baseless claim of ineffectiveness by the nigerian state security service is callous ( just to put it nicely).
Are we not aware of the millions of classified documents leaked by wikileaks of both atrocious operations of the united states armed forces and embassies around the world in the past months and years. Did A.P condemn the United states government. Or is this not a case of selective journalism? If you are going to report the cases of shortcomings of the the state security service, is it not also right to report the gains made by the agency and the fact that the nigerian security services have weakened, killed and arrested many members of the group rendering it incapable of launching attacks like what we saw in kano and yobe, where over 100 people where killed.
When in iraq an APACHE helicopter opened fire on defenceless citizens did A.P and other western media organization report or show the video. Only aljazerra news agency showed that video at the time when it was leaked.
Do gullible nigerians know that OSAMA BIN LADEN successfully was pursed for 18 years before he was finally killed in 2011 (1993-2011). This is a country ( USA) that spends 700 billion dollars a year on her military, with 1.3 million troops, not to add the cia, fbi, nsa and all. IS THAT NOT A SHAME. Or how has countries with more formidable intelligence agencies like the pakistani isi or other indian intelligence agencies or the CIA( with a budget which is more than that of most countries of the world) been able to deal with terrorism.....very low
NIGERIA is my country and I would not allow any foreign news agency to imply that the nigerian secret service is aiding islamist or to undermine the efforts of a brave and gallant state security service in the face of daunting challenges to be brought to dis-repute....( I know that this incidence will never occur again)

my guy come collect award abeg,u get sense, unlike some morons here who are joining the foreigners to criticise their own country.
Naija abeg, when wil you guys start reasoning in 3d,una stil dey black and white, we allow the foreigners to continue washing our brains through various psychological means. When wikileaks did its thing didn't you guys see their pathetic response.

When our ''secret police'' is working, dem no go talk dat one,but na dis one dem wan blow out of proportions.

I don't know why they believe their guns and whips which has done nothing in cubbing the BH menace is the answer. You nid the cooperation of the locals to successfully gather intel neccesary to flush this agent of death out of the face of this earthly abode. This is wrong and I condemn it totally.
