dvdwed:France has NO CHOICE but to ''allow them in their country''. FRANCE went into ''their countries'' first, uninvited, and disrupted their prosperous societies, just like other Europeans did across Africa and other parts of the world. So foreigners, muslims, Africans, Arabs etc, all have the right to go to Europe, just like Mungo Park and Lord Lugard came here uninvited. UNDERSTOOD? |
Incandescent:HOW DO YOU KNOW CHRIS OYAKHILOME IS NOT SAYING THE TRUTH? HAVE YOU RESEARCHED ANY OF WHAT HE'S SAYING? |
Otuegbe:That road is under construction, and some good work has been done on it so far. |
StaffofOrayan:Dude, Earth is not a paradise. The areas where there is no insurgency (ie 99% of Nigeria), GO THERE AND FARM. You've ignored all those places to focus on ''NE'' out of desperation to criticise Nigeria. Has there been a revolution in health care?People like Buhari are scared of their rivals compromising hospital staff, and their getting treatment abroad is actually due to trust issues in the political arena. There is an unprecedented drain of our skilled labour to more favorable countries. That should bother youThat is not unique to Nigeria. Even China has brain drain. It's a feature of developing countries. When a bag of rice exceeds the minimum wage, I don't know what else to say!Go for smaller sized bags, and cheaper brands, then you wouldn't have to spend that much. I've never understood this Nigerian obsession with buying giant-sized bags of rice enough to feed a battalion. |
Sunstorm95:Dude, it's not about ''comparing failure with failure''. It's about facing reality. In a hugely populated, developing country like Nigeria, which only began building roads in a serious way in the 1960s after independence, there are literally tens of thousands of kilometres of roads that will need asphalting for the next two decades at least. It's easy to shout ''tax the people more!!'', but that in itself is a political calculation with dire ramifications for any govt looking to take it up to the next level. It's all about already struggling people and businesses unwilling to cough out more money. So the govt takes a slow approach to this tax issue to avoid pushback. There are no easy answers!! In countries where ''everything works'', like say, Norway, folks pay nearly up to HALF their earnings back to the govt as tax. Can you imagine asking a Nigerian to pay half his income as tax, even if he's earning 10 million naira a month? |
StaffofOrayan:You are WRONG that ''everything there is on the decline''. GDP per capita, literacy rate etc are ALL RISING, while infant mortality rate is falllng. Life expectancy is also RISING. Go on Google and check out UN stats on Nigeria, I've no time to educate you. |
StaffofOrayan:Development is not an overnight process. It takes DECADES. Centuries even. |
Sunstorm95:If that figure (40 billion usd) is correct, it is a HUGE amount that should be going into our national budget, which currently stands at 35 billion usd per year - a pitiful sum for such a big country. |
YAWWNNNNN. You can do this on literally any developing nation on Earth today. The world comprises only 20% 'developed' nations where such sights are rare. The rest of the world all have roads like this. If I did a montage on bad roads in India, Pakistan, Peru, or Brazil, it will take 50 pages. |
luvmijeje:Don't mind these jobless, lazy youths. |
Bialegend:Brainless dunce talking about ''black'' this and ''black'' that. Pray, what colour are YOU, YOUR MOTHER AND YOUR FATHER? Oh, they're blacks too!!! Including you as well!! So you're racially attacking and insulting your own self!!!! DONKEY, NO BRAIN. |
thebosstrevor1:Exactly. Tiwa, like most Nigerians, doesn't even realise she is embarrassing herself by calling foreigners to ''lend a voice''. Did Beyonce call her to join Black Lives Matter? Nope. Americans like to solve their internal problems without foreign interference, just like other countries whose people have a sense of self-worth. The Nigerian govt only needed to hear the voice of the street protesters, who are Nigerians, and they've heard it, and they've disbanded SARS. What's she calling Beyonce for? |
Juliusmalema:Which is why people like you are harassed by cops and you will start blaming Buhari. Go and 'end' your stinking village and leave Nigeria out of your madness. |
Funny how the same Igbos showing hate for Nigeria are the first to call on the FG to rescue them when they are attacked overseas, be it in Ghana, South Africa, India, China etc. Meanwhile FG still sends aeroplanes to rescue them. If I was Buhari I would tell them to fck off, when next they come with complaints of foreign mistreatment. They are the ones who call the nation a 'zoo' online. Foreigners take the cue from their utterances, and treat them accordingly. Something they are too stupid and dumb to understand. Next time they cry out for Nigerian 'intervention', Buhari should tell them zoos do not have aeroplanes. |
Rohr has been there way too long. He needs to go. He is not a winner. |
Trump wouldn't even let this one clean his dog kernels, due to his skin colour. Yet he 'worshiped' Trump. Talk about self-hate on steroids. |
AlexBells:Grammar speaker. They will shut it down and nothing will happen. The same thing happened in Sudan and Chad a while back, to quell public unrest, and after everywhere quietened down, they reopened their internet. Heavens did not fall. The govt has ended SARS as requested. Everybody go home and stop disturbing people. |
tensazangetsu20:Dull brain. Every single loan from China can be pointed at in terms of infrastructural development. DUMBO TYPING IGNORANT RUBBISH ONLINE. |
Psalmistproject:Roast them how? Other countries have done it before, including Chad and Sudan, and nothing happened. Abeg go siddon. Naija govt will shut it down and nothing will happen. Even all these ones here typing that the heavens will fall, will sit at home and not do jack. |
youngeagle:Are you aware there has been an upgrade in virtually all airports nationwide? What ''world standards'' are you looking for? Stop trying to compete with Germany and the USA. Their annual budgets are 2.1 trillion and 6.7 trillion dollars respectively, compared to your nation's annual budget of 35 billion dollars. Your number 1 issue as a nation is economic expansion to provide greater national revenues and raise GDP. Building airports is a step in that direction. Making them all ''world class standards'' is an unnecessary prestige indulgence. |
Wiseandtrue:If you have no food, GO TO YOUR VILLAGE AND ASK FOR LAND, AND TILL THAT LAND, MAKE FOOD, EAT, AND SELL. USELESS PEOPLE. Buhari should bring food to your house. The man has been BEGGING all of you. ''GO TO THE FARM. Go into agro-allied businesses.'' The greater the food surplus, the more prices will fall. SIMPLE ECONOMICS. But no. Everybody sitting in their flat or duplex waiting for Buhari to work magic with the TINY oil and gas money earnings of the country. Was it not the other day we read that 56% of the next budget is going into paying salaries, debt, pensions etc? MAKE UNA NO GO FARM |
Amotolongbo:How many airports in Nigeria have you been in in the last 6 months? I bet the answer is 0 to 2. You do NOT know their general condition, and are only assuming they are not being maintained, because that is the stereotype that has been drummed into your head from childhood. So stop being a dummy, and talk based on your recent personal experiences, or shut it. |
Elvictor:I guess the thousands of kilometres of roads being built and renovated across the nation are also ''for the rich''. Mumu people. You don't even understand the value of modern transportation in a nation's economic development. Useless, wasted education. |
BigSarah:Dummy. What percentage of Nigerians are ''jobless''? Do you know? I bet you've never researched the figure in your life. Simply blabbing off the top of your head like an illiterate. Most Nigerians of working age are not 'jobless', so kindly employ your brain before typing. Plus, are you more ''oppressed'' than people in China? Go there and you will see what oppression is. Go there and try 'EndsARS' demonstrations, and see what happens. Yet they are still building airports till tomorrow. FAAN even said a only Lagos, ph, Abj, imo ,Kano airport is profitable... This administration likes profitless venturesSo we should only have 5 airports since only 5 are ''profitable''. That ''profit'', will you smell any of it? Better be glad they are building infrastructure you and your kids can use in future to travel around and do business, instead of criticising stupidly for the sake of criticising, as is the habit of so many of you on this forum. |
Biodun556:In my uni days, student union leaders walked around on leg like most of us. Where are these ones getting jeep from? Tomorrow they will complain about ''our leaders''. |
Danzakidakura:Stop lying. |

Mr Buhari spoke while commissioning the Ariaria Market Independent Power project in Aba. He said the provision of a dedicated power supply to small businesses in the area would strengthen the “Made in Nigeria” programme of the Federal Government of which Abia had become synonymous with. Mr Buhari said the present administration was committed to evolving sound economic policies and programmes aimed at boosting national productivity. He said the project was a demonstration of the Federal Government’s resolve to protect the interest of every Nigerian irrespective of party difference and constitutional limitations. Mr Buhari said he had been informed that Ariaria International market contained 37,000 shops which would benefit from the project, adding that 4,000 shops had been connected to new power supply. “Electricity has no political colour and I was elected to office on the convincing argument my party made about our commitment to security, developing the economy and fighting corruption. “I am told that in the past traders in this market only got power supply for four hours a day and paid exorbitantly for it, which consequently affected the viability of many businesses. Mr Buhari said that the Federal Government was replicating the power project in Abia in Kano, Lagos and Ibadan. Handing over the projects to the construction company, Zonal Project Cordinator, Agricultural Transformation Agenda Support Programme Phase1, South East Zone, Mr Romanus Egba said the 2 projects, with one year completion timeline would enhance rice cultivation in the region. The N3.9billion project within Omor and Umumbo communities would guarante all year round rice farming, he said. In Enugu state, the project is worth over N2 billion. The Enugu State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr Mathew Idu while commending the government for the step taken to revitalise the Adani rice farm settlement, expressed the hope that there would be food security in the area when the work was completed . His Anambra State counterpart, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Stephanie Keri- Uzor said the 3850 hectares of land within Omor and Umumbo will no doubt become a beehive of rice activities after the resuscitation plan. At last, common sense is descending on our parliament. |
RuudVanNisteroy:Somebody being born here and sharing your skin colour does not imply he OUGHT to care about you more than someone born 10,000 miles away. The minute you start doing that, you absolve the stranger who breaks in to steal your cows, while fighting your neighbour who stole your chicken. |
RuudVanNisteroy:They are NOT ''our people'' if they are working for the colonialists. The colonialists betrayed our trust too. They were not meant to rig our independence elections and install a ruling class that served their interests as opposed to ours, while claiming they were granting us 'independence'. |
RuudVanNisteroy:Tell The Economist to investigate the looting of Nigeria from 1897 to 1960. And the manipulation of Nigeria's 1959 independence elections which installed the present ruling elite. They are excluding the part in which their people looted and misgoverned us. Why? Which kind sense be thati o Na animal sense - Fela Kuti |
