In a bid to find a lasting solution to the Apapa gridlock, the Apapa Local Government Chairman, Honourable Adele Owolabi has sought partnership with the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) in order to restore sanity to the Apapa community.
The Chairman while on a courtesy visit to the Agency bemoaned the danger the situation poses to the citizenry of the Apapa community and indeed the Nigerian economy, noting that it requires urgent action, which can only be achieved through collaboration amongst all Stakeholders within the Apapa Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Speaking further, he stated that the traffic gridlock also poses security and environmental challenges, which require concerted efforts in order to forestall break down of law and order.
“Before now, Apapa used to be a beehive of economic activities and one of the highest revenue generating Local Government Area in Lagos and a place where people engage in all forms of recreational activities. Today, the reverse is now the case as so many industries have relocated from the area, thereby crippling economic activities and in turn low revenue generation”, the Chairman said.
Hon. Adele also appealed to the NIMASA Executive Management to partner with them in order to restore sanity to the Apapa Local Government Area of Lagos State, so that economic activities will be restored and unhindered.
Accordingly, he stated that presently various committees have been set up to look into the immediate solution to the challenges identified and that the Agency will be duly informed of the outcome, so that NIMASA can assist.
Also concerned with the spate of criminality in the Apapa axis which mostly involves the youths, he requested for the Agency’s assistance in the area of capacity building so as to engage them in meaningful trades that will deter them from criminalities.
In his response, the Director General of NIMASA Dr. Dakuku Peterside averred that services to the community bring development to the populace, hence the need for continuous partnership with our host communities.
The DG who was represented by the Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Mr. Bashir Jamoh noted that the traffic situation in Apapa was a situation of concern to all parties, because of the security threat it poses.
“The solution to the Apapa gridlock is above the Local Government and NIMASA, it is a national issue which needs the urgent attention of the Federal Government and all stakeholders in the sector. On the immediate, we can be talking about a short-term solution, but on the long run we must have medium and long-term plans on how to tackle the situation”, he said.
He further assured the Local Government Chairman and his team of the continuous support of NIMASA to any development that will help resolve the traffic challenge in Apapa, noting however that the Federal Government is doing its best to finding a lasting solution to the persistent traffic situation.
He also added that the President Muhammadu Buhari’s led Federal Government was not resting on its oars to fulfill its election mandate of transforming the economy and making life more comfortable for the Nigerian people.

Zimbabwe military take charge' as gun fire breaks out near Robert Mugabe Harare Mansion!

Zimbabwe armed forces have denied it they are staging a military coup despite gunshots being reported by witnesses near Robert Mugabe's mansion in Harare.

Gunfire and explosions have broken out in Harare, following a warning by a military chief that the armed forces are ready to "step in" to the political row, witnesses have reported.
After storming a state television station soldiers made a statement claiming they have intervened to target criminals around Mugabe.

They have denied a coup is underway. Robert Mugabe and his family are safe according to an army statement.

Professor Eno Blankson Ikpe of the Department of History & International Studies is dead. She died after a protracted illness.

Before her unfortunate death, Prof. Ikpe was the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Investment, Commerce and Industry.

She had also served variously in the University of Uyo, as Member of University Senate Council; Director, Centre for Cultural Studies; Head, Department of History and International Studies; Vice Dean, Faculty of Arts; Dean, Faculty of Arts; and also as Adjunct Professor at Akwa Ibom State University. She also sat in many Committees.

Tanzanian Singer Diamond Platnumz’s has been sued for his popular song Zilipendwa which he released on August 25, 2017.

The singer has been accused of stealing a saxophone tune which he inserted in the song which has continued to rake in millions of You Tube views.

Msondo Ngoma Music Band is concerned that Diamond’s Wasafi Babe Classics (WCB) recording label copied the tune without their consent.

They are now demanding KSh 13.7 million from the rich singer.

‘Zilipendwa’ has already garnered 9,335,687 views on You Tube in less than three months and it is still counting.

In the song, Diamond has featured artistes signed under the WCB label. They include Rich Mavoko, Harmonize, Rayvanny, Queen Darlin, Maromboso and Lavalava.

The Lagos State High Court in Igbosere has dismissed the two applications by alleged kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans seeking to quash charges of murder and illegal sales of firearms preferred against him.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, in a ruling on Friday, November 10, described the applications as misconceived and lacking in merit.

In a turn up of events a man of Kamuli has taken the girl he found in a night club to police for putting on fake buttocks and hips.

According to Kamuli Central Police, a man identified as Wafula Moses took a Lady to police after realising that what made him salivate was fake totally fake, the victim narrated that he found the woman in a certain night club and made him offload his pocket basing on her physical appearance and well shaped figure

But to his surprise after the woman unclothed she had a flat buttock structure and no hips at all just like him again.

“I got this lady in the bar, when we reached the room she resisted to UnCloth, I persisted and she put lights off and undressed but when slept on the bed, she had no hips and buttocks, I feared thinking she is a ghost because she changed, after I switched on the light, I discovered that I have just destroyed my appetite because she was as flat as a carton box on her buttocks. Let her just pay back my money she has tricked me, this prostitute can’t trick me, a woman where my wife wife is better than her, let her just pay back” He said.

During cross examination, the girl stated that she normally uses artificial buttocks and hips for business sake.

A Nigerian man identified as, Austine Obinwanne Igwilo , who was arrested last week in a sting operation, was arraigned to answer to narcotic drug trafficking charges.

Austine Obinwanne Igwilo appeared before JKIA Principal Magistrate Lucas Onyina where he pleaded not guilty for possession of heroine with a market value of Ksh.66 million. He was arrested in Savannah Estate Phase IV where police recovered drugs.
Igwilo requested to be released on bail, something the prosecution objected saying that “he has a flight pending and will abscond court if released.”

“The prosecution has not presented any compelling reasons, he is still innocent until proved otherwise,”argued the defense team.
The court was told that the said rental house was just a storage house and cannot be in any way termed as place of fixed abode adding that he has no residence visa and has been using a tourist visa.
“Court should bear in mind the seriousness of the offense and severity of the sentences to be imposed if convicted,” argued the prosecution side.

Students of the Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH) Calabar campus yesterday was in disarray as the ASUU union of the school declared an indefinite strike, students of the school locked down the school gate and held the school’s VC and management staffs on arrest for their commencement of a strike action.
Final year students were the most aggrieved because most of them love to graduate during this festive period.
The school management had called on the services of the Nigerian Police and the Civil Defense corps which could not get entry into the school due to the fact that the protesting students had shut down the gate and had setup a team of the students as the new security guards at the gate.
The school’s internal security team was over powered by the protesting students and was just watching events on fold with amazement. The school’s Public relation officer tried to talk out the students from further disruption of school normal activities, but all efforts were to no avail. Protesting students were seen with leafs and singing solidarity songs and chants.

Governor of Nyeri, Wahome Gakuru died in a ghastly motor accident in in Kabati on the Thika-Kenol highway.
The governor and his driver were rushed to Thika Level 5 Hospital and were set to be flown to Nairobi Hospital for further treatment.
Gakuru becomes the second Nyeri Governor to pass on while in office after the late Nderitu Gachagua who died last year in February at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London while undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer.
Governor Gakuru, who is the former vision 2030 director, was travelling to Nairobi for a talk show on Inooro TV.

American rapper, Meek Mill 30-years-old has been sentenced to two to four years in prison on Monday after violating his probation, according to CBS 3.

Meek Mill, who was already under probation for a drug and weapons case, was arrested twice this year.

March, he was arrested in St. Louis and charged with misdemeanor assault for an altercation with two airport employees.



In August, the rapper, whose real name is Robert Rihmeek William, was charged with reckless endangerment for illegally riding his dirt bike in Inwood. He took a plea deal and the case will be dismissed after six months of good behavior and 30 hours of community service.

At least 26 people were killed and 20 others wounded in Sunday's church shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott said at a press conference, said Freeman Martin, a regional director with the Texas Department of Public Safety, with victims ranging in age from 5 to 72 years old.

among the dead is the 14-year-old daughter of the First Baptist Church's pastor, Frank Pomeroy, according to his wife, Sherri Pomeroy, the girl's mother. The couple were traveling out of state when the shooting occurred.

Authorities have not said what may have motivated the suspected shooter, who was later found dead in his vehicle.

The shooting has devastated the small Texas town east of San Antonio, described as a place where "everybody knows everybody."

Martin described the shooter in Sunday's press conference as a young white male who was dressed in all-black "tactical-type gear" and wearing a ballistic vest.

Martin said the suspect was seen in a Valero gas station across the street from the church in Sutherland Springs at about 11:20 a.m. local time on Sunday morning.

The former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili has said the controversial reinstatement of Abdulrasheed Maina to the civil service is one scandal too many and the most lethal blow to the administration’s fight against corruption.

President Muhammadu Buhari has on Monday October 23, ordered the immediate dismissal of Maina from the Federal Civil Service and also called for a full report of the circumstances of Maina’s recall and posting to the Ministry of Interior.
