PoliticsRe: Ngozi Okonjo-iweala Bags An Honorary Doctorate Degree From Tel Aviv University by RTSC: 6:05pm On May 18, 2019
She should be positioning for the first female president in Nigerian history if things were right in Nigeria.

Blue3k:
The president doesn't start the process you know. Its the NASS then state assemblies. Its even debatable if presidential assent is required. Buhari supports LG autonomy but ut hasnt passed because state assemblies have refused to vote on it.
But buhari can force his way through even in issues he has no business about.

Look at the way he removed the CJN.

Stop making excuses for the president. He is not impotent.

A Nigerian President is almost a tyrant.
BusinessRe: Cooking Gas Marketers Applaud FG On VAT Removal by RTSC: 3:03pm On May 18, 2019
We have an over abundance of gas in Nigeria.
Far more gas than oil.

It should be dirt cheap for Nigerians.

By that logic are you ready to legalize magic mushrooms? Yes or no.

The constitution needs amending since srugs abd poison under exclusive list.

Prostitution can be legalized with law change at federal level. It could be vetoed easily though.
Amend the constitution and relinquish power to the states.
In exchange for such powers, remove immunity status to prevent abuse of such new powers.

It would take a patriotic president to do that.

Is Nigeria better than USA, Ukraine, Canada etc that legalized medicinal marijuana. The problem is some of our leaders are illiterate, and after they will still come out and say this state is not viable. This is a herb created by God which has cured so many chronic diseases. Wake up FAILED COUNTRY
The problem is lack of real federation.

In America, some States have legalised abortion even while Donald Trump and his Republican Party hates it and there is nothing they can do.
.
Some States have legalised marijuana while some have not.

The president that will unbundle Nigeria to real federated units would be the greatest president of all times
PoliticsRe: Presidency Disowns Akeredolu Over Planned ‘Marijuana Business’ by RTSC: 2:38pm On May 18, 2019
This is why you need true federalism. Buhari should not dictate to states.
States can legalise prostitution, medical marijuana, and make money and create jobs.

But I guess, it's not tinubu's priority.

Pdp gives it to Obi when they are not mad.. so many political analysts on NL these days
They should give it to tinubu instead.
You want pdp to score an own goal when we all know Peter obi was why they won the votes they won in 2019.

I pray osibanjo runs against him.
PoliticsRe: Yoruba Deserve 2023 Presidency, The Igbos Not A Serious People- Fredrick Nwabufo by RTSC: 12:26pm On May 18, 2019
Deadlytruth:
Just like how a better Hausafulani, a better Edo, a better Yorubas, a better Ijaw, a better Urhobo, a better Ibibio, a better, Ogoni, a better Efik, etc would easily do the correct thing that would address all Nigeria's problems. So it is not just about Igbos alone.
The Yoruba man, Obasanjo who ruled twice, was not the choice of Yorubas but that of the IBB-led Northern Oligarchy and their southern collaborators mostly from the SE and my own SS.
The SS person who ruled in the person of Jonathan, was not the genuine SS' choice as the circumstances that brought him to power were beyond the SS people's control. If the SS were allowed to make a choice, they would have opted for Donald Duke whom even all other regions easily admit is a material for ideal national leadership.
The Northerners who ruled after Ahmadu Bello and Balewa were as well thrown up by circumstances beyond the Northern generality's control hence their musrule can't really be rubbed on all Northerners.
But the two major revolutionary events in Nigerian history was spearheaded by igbos who took the bull by the horn.
Imagine that kind of courage in a responsible, patriotic and competent leader.
Nigeria could finally change for good.

Other ethnics have good potential leaders. But I don't think it is very easy to find that kind of courage to do what is necessary.

PMB's position is clear about this. Most of these states are still struggling to pay salaries of the workers they have and they want a state police. You want to give someone a gun when you are not sure of being able to put food in his stomach?
The FG can support the state with salary payment.

It's not as if the police is a revenue generating agency that the FG has lost to the State.
PoliticsRe: Ekweremadu Seeks Buhari’s Support For Creation Of State Police by RTSC: 12:16pm On May 18, 2019

Scared? Lol

No credible candidates can win primary elections in Nigeria, not to talk of major elections.

And when it comes to recognised and acceptable candidates, SE dont have any except Obi and he is even a light weight champions.

The bitter truth is, no major party can zone their presidential candidates to SE. Highest post is Vp which I dont even see Apc zoning to the zone.

Pdp have been Una bread and butter all this years.. Why not continue to stick with them?
Apart from tinubu, who is heavier than Peter obi in Yoruba land?
Have you forgotten osibanjo the VP lost his own polling unit in Lagos because there was a Peter obi on the ballot.?

Or you think atiku decent victory in south was because of himself?

Keep hallucinating under the buhari umbrella. He will leave in 2023.

I am hoping the apc zones it to osibanjo, while pdp gives it to Peter obi and let's see who is more popular.

The battle will be in the North anyway because obi will sweep the south effortlessly.

Go to history.... Recent history will tell you the North Western alliance is a force
There has been more incidences of an eastern alliance with the North than a western equivalent, right from the days of azikiwe.

Even buhari ran with an igbo first. When we rejected him, he turned to a less familiar alternative.

Deadlytruth:
For the first bolded: where did that Ironsi's unitary system land us today, and how come Igbos' voices are the loudest about a return to the true federalism Ironsi replaced with that unitary system? Is it just about being bold to do things however stupid?

For the second bolded: how come with all the mutual love and respect that existed between Igbos and Jonathan, Igbos didn't one day have the audacity to challenge Jonathan to restructure but chose to only keep on with the narrative that Jonathan must have his second term as if that was more important than the restructuring to which Jonathan paid lip service throughout his uneventful tenure?
The only Igbo man, Festus Odumegwu, who had the temerity to challenge the system by making a case and a genuine attempt towards an important aspect of restructuring was booted out of office by Jonathan to the applause of his own Igbo kinsmen.
Ironsi did what he thought was right. It doesn't mean it is not a hard thing.
A better igbo president would do the hard job of restructuring this country and correcting ironsi mistake.

Jonathan was his own man. There was no way you can make a man braver than he is.
He was his own man and made his own decisions based on his character.
You can't hold igbos responsible for his failure. You can't force a president to restructure Nigeria.

And just like you said Jonathan removed an igbo revolutionary just to placate northern voices. It was the same mentality that made him invest heavily in the North and very little in his homeland.

There was nothing igbos could have done.

its crazy to think that only igbos can bring a change....even now their are still igbos in goverment....

soooo,whats your point....??
Igbos are not afraid to do what is necessary.
Go back to the era of ironsi who created a unitary government or ojukwu who created a separate country.
We are not afraid to do the hard thing.

Unlike others that will get in power and begin to compromise, the right igbo president will get the job done.

Only an igbo will have the political audacity to restructure this country and I know many people realise that already.

its is dangerous to force people into things they are not interested in....

soooo, whats the point if they dont want themselves....??

they are so divided but tell you something else online....

their governors dont agree with their people, their elites only care about money, common people are so divided that you cant even know who is the leader....
It is a problem of cultural leadership. There is no smart leader to follow.

The leaders are as selfish and vainglorious, and everybody want to go it alone.
It's too bad.

Igbos can be united for a common purpose, like we saw during war and even recent elections that brought Jonathan, and even atiku benefited from it.

The problem is that ohanaeze is not applying it to more useful purposes.

They are the only semblance of a "god father" capable of creating a synergy in igboland and they are failing.

Unless another god father like azikiwe comes again to unify our people into a set of goals, we are fuccked.
PoliticsRe: Yoruba Deserve 2023 Presidency, The Igbos Not A Serious People- Fredrick Nwabufo by RTSC: 8:29am On May 18, 2019
I still believe the problem is ohanaeze. They are not smart enough.
They are not doing enough.

They are just like the arrogant and illiterate igbo commentators I see on nairaland. No long term strategic planning.
They can't even ensure that the vast majority in igboland can vote, let alone create a continuous reservoir of good leaders by deliberate action.

The rest of the world is drawing on massive igbo intelligensia in building their own countries.

But ohanaeze with their foolishness, have ensured that Nigeria is deprived of it.

We need another azikiwe. A much better azikiwe to be honest.

No15 ; If not for his uncelebrated wisdom as a finance guy, Nigerian currency would have been as useless as that of Venuzuela or Zimbabwe, when the goverment suddenly devalued the Naira because Of dweddling Global oil Price.

No16 ; The Rice Revolution Celebrated by Lai muhammed and Audu Ogbeh was largely succesfull because of Emeifele's CBN anchor borrowers program

No17 ; he is Under Celebrated because he isnt an alarmist like Sanusi who gave baseless allegation of a missing $50billion in an economy like Nigeria, or prof Soludo whose Bank recapitalisation exercise was so publicised, you'd think it wasnt the normal thing to do

True
He is massively underestimated. One of the best CBN governors of all time.
