So we can build a home for Odili and the likes why does the caged bird sing? |
Ur worst nightmare How will you know you are in love? |
Here is what God says on Adultery - a whole chapter prov 7 is dedicated to it and is even titled - "Warning Against the Adulteress"
[li]Proverbs 6:32-33 32 But a man who commits adultery lacks judgment; whoever does so destroys himself. 33 Blows and disgrace are his lot, and his shame will never be wiped away[/li] [li]Proverbs 7:27 27 Her house is a highway to the grave, leading down to the chambers of death. You think we have it bad with our airlines, check this out: 1. The BA airline's performance on long haul flights was 44% (almost half) arriving late and 36.6% taking off later than scheduled. 2. Over one Million - 1,300,000 bags lost. I guess they got so used to getting away with treating Nigerians/Africans so badly that it carried over to their mainstream business making them now piss poor overall, abeg Virgin should swoop in and kill their market once and for all - darn british! http://www.news.com.au/travel/story/0,23483,22175861-27977,00.html http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30400-1278234,00.html http://mathaba.net/0_index.shtml?x=559461 |
@Seun I'm currently employed here but plan to take 1 yr off work ie I do not plan to work in Naija or otherwise for that yr - just living off some savings. Answer to your question on what the US doesn't have, the long broken connections that I would like to re-establish, and possible business collaborations in Naija like you touched on. @okeyz Thanks for the hard numbers! Do you know what rent is like in Abuja? And to clear a car from the port? If I ship to naija I would have to sell it when I'm returning. |
I should clarify that I am interested in what people (average - middleclass Nigerians) budget per month to help me plan better. |
Really? Why? I don't have any kids yet and think if ever I had a year to try this out it would be this coming year, I'll take your advice into consideration (since you are the second person that has said so), but in considering all options, I'd like to have an idea of how much people spend on the following per week or month? 1. Gas for car 2. Cell phones - I know it will vary but a range would be appreciated, I dont expect to make 3 hr calls making meaningless conversations etc, I currently use about a 1000 mins per month on my US plan and intend not to exceed 1500 mins per month. 3. Food etc |
I don't plan to work oh, @osereka Ok, if N5M for a car alone - what type of car, if that's just for an average car then I may have to go with option B ie I have a nice late model car that I could ship rather than let it sit idle for the yr. Any idea on estimated cost to clear shipping? |
Oh, I meant 5 Million Naira not dollars!! Lol no wonder, of course I too can live on $5M - but, who dash monkey to throw that kind money away in 1 yr? I meant $40,000 or N5Million I've changed the currency appropraitely. |
Really? Mmh. Living by yourself or staying with friends and/or family? I think Niaja rent may blow the budget, I'd like to consider rent (especially) and if doable then great, if not, I might shack up with fam |
Hypothetically speaking, for someone who wanted to try out living in Nigeria (Abuja or Lagos) for about a year, what should they expect to spend and is ~ 5Million Naira realistic to budget on? Also please help with the following to aid planning: 1. Can we get a decent apartment, in a decent area of Abuja/Lagos (where?), and how much for 1 year? 2. Aproximately how much would monthly living (minus rent) cost if not planning a showy albeit non-sufferhead life? 3. What would an average (new) car cost or the cost to clear a shipped car? (And is shipping even advisable?) - Also estimate cost of gas per month or per week please. 4. What would cell phone charges run per month (roughly) - in otherwords, I'd like to know how much people spend per average on their phones 5. What other costs should one keep in mind given a firm plan of N5M or less (if possible to save some $$). Thanks, your input on any part that you have 1st hand information/experience would be greatly appreciated! |
my point exactly |
It used to be that in interacting with women, men were more laid back, quiet, gentler etc, basically, they seemed to treat women kinder. HOWEVER, these days it seems like Nigerian men are especially vicious in their communications with and about women - especially on this Nairaland sef. why?!! Kilon sele? Wetin dey happen? |
I agree that the most common US interpretation is that it means he has an interest in you and would like to spend some time getting to know you outside of the typical setting that you both either work in, play in etc, So based on the US culture, I'd say he is interested in you and would like to talk with you i.e Get to know you better - in a slightly more than friendly way. Kind of like saying - "Hey, lets meet in an open social setting, talk one-on-one and see if we strike a chord with each other, " Since most peeps don't outright toast people out here when it comes to the initial stages of dating, typically asking someone out then takes the form of a prelude to dating - "Hey would you like to meet for a drink, or for coffee, or for dinner, or for a movie, etc" without really being so upfront that there is an interest in dating you. I guess I should add that the event or place he invites you to should also clue you in to what the motive could be - for example, if its a coffee date, it could be simply an interest in being friends or just learning more about something they find intriguing about you - like your culture, accent etc Now, for drinks, especially because it means having an alcoholic beverage, it weighs heavily on the side of having an interest in you, but, of course, nothing is 100% unless he spells it out. Its just the norm in this culture that a drink is not just a drink. |
Two words :"Ready Stew" http://www.getsym.com/prod01_reg.htm PS - Ready stew is delicious, and versatile for all kinds of Naija dishes. It should hold your belle well well and give you food to stimulate your brain , hopefully it will also allow you to focus on more important things like the character traits etc that attracted you to the girl in the first place. |
oboatioko:Gee, thanks. Now I'm in so much awe - you do know something! Perhaps not too versed on proper English grammar BUT who cares right? ![]() |
Granted, we have sometimes deployed 'troops' for face time in certain situations - for example, one of my dad's orderlies went to Bosnia back in 1994/5 and really, they just sat in camps etc, I am also aware that we have done peace keeping runs like ECOMOG. And though admittedly vague on Biafra, I am not sure that our army has been engaged in a real 'war' though. On the other hand, we don't need a real war to measure preparedness in terms of training, artillery etc, I am just confused that people could think that the Nigerian Army is best in the world without any meaningful comparisons in terms of past performance or any other facts to substantiate their very broad claims. Sitting on your front porch, stretching your legs and proclaiming that one is best is not sufficient. ![]() |
Believe o. It is very political that Satan, and even Judas are often passed off as black/dark |
Ok smart ass. Who needs it? what is it used for? etc If you cant or wont explain more than the obvious then pls step. Thanks |
naijaway:@naijaway, either the bottle was speaking or something - Where in my post did you see me say "Nigerian Army haven't fought in wars outside nigeria." Abeg cross-reference your posts before you mis-yarn. Maybe someone else said such but not me, as much as I think the person that said so may actually be on point, I do not KNOW that for a fact and won't/haven't opened my mouth on what I don't know. Also., when you make a blanket statement like Nigerian Army is the most practical in Africa, can you substantiate yourself. What does it mean to be practical, then most practical, and what are the criteria considered for your extremely broad conclusion? Anyone can mis-yarn. Make sure you have something tangible to say though ![]() |
You guys "voted" him in as one best suited to run the country. For that reason, and because we are a civilized democracy, we also have to give him that trust to actually run the office and stop all the nitpicking on his decisions/appointments. As for Obasanjo - he needs to go pick some cherry tomatoes or something on his farm. If that article is reliable, then he sounds like an old buffoon or step-father who no longer knows what to do with himself - hence the very distracting meddling. If he refuses to retire away to obscurity, then they should simply investigate one of his wrong doings and place him under house arrest on his farm. |
Please explain, its new to me |
My cup of tea - dreaming up names. I don't know your potential market/clientele etc and I think most peeps have given you good advice along those lines. But, in anycase, I like to play with names so here you go, have fun. 1. Neo Designs 2. Zen Living 3. Lagos Living 4. Dezines 5. [Your Name] Interior Designs or Living - example Tayo Cole Living or Tayo Cole - Designs or Zizi or whatever 6. Accents - If you are going to be more focused on enhancing ie light enhancements 7. Contempo - For contemporary designs 8. Simply Hue - get it? hue? you? ![]() Ok, I don tire jare ![]() |
Satan of course. Obasanjo did what he knew best, and how he knew best for the country. End of story. |
No - Non-profits should not be taxed. BUT, they should be made to track all collections/incomes, and disclose all income/expenditure to their congregations and public in exchange for a tax-free privilege. Failure to do so should be punishable by law and include jail terms. |
I don't think it matters what color people say Jesus was - it's his spirit that matters most. HOWEVER, I think it absolutely matters what color they say Satan was! IN my opinion, SATAN is a WHITE MAN (and or WOMAN) ![]() It is not the black race that has committed the greatest atrocities against humanity in this world - it has and always will be the white man - racial injustices, pilferage of other's natural (God-given) resources, hate against others, greed, hoarding of resources in a world where people are dying because they cannot eat, no no, it is the white man that is satan. From Africa to Australia, it has always been the white man. Let's not let them deviously color satan brown to pass him off as belonging to us. |
MMh, what I read from the wiki referenced post that his ouster was based more on a relationship indiscretion than the Nigerian MEND story. http://www.maynardije.org/columns/dickprince/070529_prince/ |
