According to a CNN article, Esquire claims Scarlett Johansson is the sexiest woman alive. Whatever! undecided

I am no lesbian but here's who the sexiest woman alive is In My Humble Opinion (IMHO) - Beyonce Knowles cool cool

Why: - She is gorgeous, and I like that she behaves like such a lady especially when she is with her man. She knows how to be a man's woman - Too sexy! grin grin

Who's your sexiest woman alive? - Show and tell why!

Nairaland / General / Re: What's the Story behind your Nairaland Username? by Rubbermaid(f): 9:06pm On Sep 04, 2006
1) My original name on nairaland was "TopDollar" but one day during lunch I tried to sign on but couldn't remember nor retrieve my password so I signed on with a new username and settled on rubbermaid - the plastic container I was eating from was made by rubbermaid.

2) The story behind my original name TopDollar is that I started my job earning the highest possible for an entry-level professional coming into my job function. I negotiated the highest possible pay not knowing they'd agree but they did. - A couple close friends that new about the deal started calling me that.

4 is my lucky number in everything too - I'm the 4th child and have used for as a lucky number since I was little - only prob is it has never won me the lottery - yet

Nairaland / General / Re: Nairaland Featured In The Punch Newspaper by Rubbermaid(f): 12:20pm On Aug 08, 2006
Congratulations Seun and fellow Nairalanders!

I am relatively new to Nairaland but have been pulled into it ever since I joined. It gives me a medium to openly carry meaningful and sometimes just plain funny or heated discussions with my fellow Naijas from all over the world. I don't think any other site currently offers this to Naijas.

Seun - With this kind of pull you I think the sky is your limit for how you can take advantage of your 'viewership'.

TV/Movies / Re: Do You Love Or Hate Nigerian Movies? by Rubbermaid(f): 2:06am On Aug 07, 2006
I don't enjoy mainly because of the poor editing. They are so long - I mean unnecessarily long. They just drag on and on and on and on and on undecided
And the sound quality leaves me adjusting the volume on my tv continually.
'Twas too much work that I lost interest.
Business / Re: Who Is Your Customer? by Rubbermaid(f): 1:48am On Aug 07, 2006
Seun:

Customer service is widely recognized as an key aspect of business success.
In other words, you are not my customer unless you are responsible for my revenue. Is this right?

Seun, we are indirectly responsible for your revenue as we produce the volume that makes you attractive to advertisers. grin

You know how much MySpace sold for? Over $500Million - this could only happen as a result of the huge volume of 'customers' that pulled in the advertisers and subsequent investors.

PS - I think Nairaland has enough users to where you can begin to invite quality businesses and/or politicians (or any other interested group for that matter) that are looking to reach Nigerians from across the diaspora for a little fee wink
Politics / Re: Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Has Resigned by Rubbermaid(f): 1:43pm On Aug 06, 2006
Nigerians - OBJ is screwing around with our success by playing ping-pong with Ngozi.
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for president! God knows we need her. why?

1. In her time in office, she has increased our reserves by over 200%
2. She greatly improved the image of Nigeria to the world financial community.
3. She is passionate about Nigeria and wants to help turn things around.
4. She is highly regarded by the world (ex: Time Magazine: "Hero of the Year"wink, and has no incentive to tarnish her image by playing the corrupt or inept Nigerian politician.

When God shuts a window, he sometimes opens a door. I hope this is the case here, and that she decides (or agrees) to run for presidency of Nigeria.

God knows we need someone like her.

Nairaland / General / Re: Whats The Nicest Word Someone Has Ever Said To You And You To Someone? by Rubbermaid(f): 1:15am On Aug 06, 2006
Said to me grin
"God please make me like my aunty when I grow up because she is so beautiful" - My niece said that during their night-time prayer. She thinks the world of me and that makes me feel very special.

"I love you beyond reason, and that makes me happy. I hope you'll let me stay happy forever." Old Boyfriend

"You've still got us and we love you very much" - My 2 best friends when me and the above broke up. grin

I said to someone grin
I'll be more than your friend, I'll be your family too. If you get ill, broke, in trouble or whatever, know that u have someone to call. Said to my friend who had no single family member in the US.
Travel / Re: Nigerians Living The Dream Life Abroad by Rubbermaid(f): 12:36am On Aug 06, 2006
After careful consideration I'll say (overall) I prefer the life I have made for myself here. Although it wasn't always so.

I had to start from scratch - Started Uni allover again, and like Bhola, I worked my a-es-es off and pursued a degree in Computer Science simultaneously. I worked 2 full time jobs (80hrs/week of a combination of retail and call center customer service) to keep up with international fees while in school but I always managed to keep my grades high. The payoff was that I got an entry-level job offer in the range of $60-$70K secured with a top IT company before I even graduated.

Part of the job offer was an F1 student visa to H1B to Greencard path. This was 5 years ago and I have continued to work hard and IMO, make very good progress in the same company. I always try to put head for ground and look for opportunities to progress.

Today, I have a 4bdrm 2.5 bath house (uhm, yes, I took a mortgage) - but I can readily afford the payments. I also have a paid-off non-luxury but fully loaded car. The material things by themselves do not really matter as I have a lot of friends and relatives in naija who have done way better for themselves (materially) but the fact that I can enjoy them without fear of being robbed (I have a monitored alarm), or that I can drive to and fro my sisters or aunt's homes at any time of the day or night without being attacked by armed robbers give me a better sense of peace, and overall better quality to my life.

grin This is my two cents but I'll add one more cent for anyone considering moving grin:

1) Like earlier mentioned, have a good path to legalizing yourself - Many other countries make it easier so start from there.
2) Don't lose your focus by trying to create a perfect picture for those back home or keeping up with your new friends - let them know things are tight while u are forging ahead
3) In line with the above don't mess up your credit. You can't do anything meaningful (sometimes this includes getting a decent job) if you screw that up.
4) Never forget why you left in the first place. This may help you stay grounded during those tough times when your feet are aching and your spirit is breaking.
5) NEVER FORGET TO REACH BACK AND PULL! As Nigerians we don't know how to give back once we get settled. Pick one person and make their own journey a little easier if you can. Let's not be like crabs in a barrell - pulling each other down.

Take care folks - The more the merrier.

Business / Re: Doing Business With 300,000 Naira Capital? by Rubbermaid(f): 2:52pm On Aug 04, 2006
I agree with Seun.
Also, I know this is geared towards starting a business in the US, but spend some time on applicable steps of the "10 Steps to Starting your Business" On Startup nation. http://www.startupnation.com/index.asp

Also, consider collaborating with someone so that you can increase your capital base. Of course this also means assuming the risks involved with partnerships so you'll need to carefully consider whom you end up going into business with, and ensure you have the proper paperwork in place to protect your interests.

If you consider partnering, don't rule out partnering with people in other countries where you may want to expand your business to.
