tctrills: Anyone who has traveled out of Nigeria knows that Lagos is not top 100 best cities by any parameter. So when you see a ranking, it makes sense to look out for the credibility of the organization conducting it. it's not even in 500 best cities. Jo'burg beats Lagos hands down. |

DMerciful: I lived in Lagos for about 15 months, worst time of my life. That place is truly bedlam.
Lived in Ogun for about 5yrs, terrible roads
Lived in Ibadan for 4yrs, absolutely love it. Ibadan is peaceful and orderly.
As an Igbo man, we travel to any part of Nigeria without fear or favor Yeah but limited opportunities. |
I don't have the time to dig into the methodology but note that the list is about cities that are pleasant to live in, not cities with fancy structures and economic opportunities. I have been around Nigeria and while I like Lagos, there is no doubt that for a pleasant life there are at least 30 other cities in Nigeria that are better than Lagos.
|

givedemwotowoto: A huge chunk of Nigeria’s oil revenue and resources went into developing Lagos since independence just like Abuja today, yet it is one of the worst places to live? A cousin of mine who has stayed in Abuja for most part of life came to Lagos and stayed just two months and ram back to Abj and concluded that only mad people are in Lagos. |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: A 250k Job In Ibadan And The Same Budget Role In Lekki But With Accommodation by Rubyjade: 2:54am On Jun 29, 2024 |
Advantage - no stress related to the formalities of renting an apartment - less likely to become a victim of fraud certainty that you will have a place to live when you come to work (sometimes looking for an apartment on your own can be a long and difficult process) - you do not waste time commuting free local transport (if you live a bit further from your place of work) or provided means of transport such as bicycle or car
Disadvantages:
- sometimes the conditions of the accommodation can disappoint us (neglected, poorly equipped) - roommates – living with strangers is always a great unknown. We can meet people we want to be friends with or people we don’t get along with. The chance of meeting with people who make noise, party or mess is huge. - If privacy is important to you – consider a job offer with accommodation in single rooms. It is important to have a place where you can rest after a hard day at work - You may be required to work outside the stipulated working days, hours & time after all you have an accommodation - Lastly, behaviour that is normalised when boundaries are not clearly defined and enforced in personal or professional relationships- see finish dey enter the matter
While you are there gather up money & get an apartment at Ajah to avoid the last point raise above. |

BlackyOne: Stay in Ibadan, Lekki is overrated and you'll spend more, raining season is terrible, borehole water is very bad there, traffic is a major issue and you'll spend productive or resting hours navigating Lagos roads Did you bother to read before commenting? |

Crypto which was helping initially is now saturated. Even you need capital to start it. Making money in nigeria is never easy if you are not from a financially buoyant background.
Recently i saw a picture of two old men eating rice with red oil on it and i just shook my head.
Figure it out yourself and do what you must do before it's too late. You guys have no idea of what awaits you before december time.
For your info, Rubber paint of rice is now #8000 and beans is #10,000 respectively.
You people should keep on hiding inside your closets and lamenting while the elite, wealthy and the rich starve and squeeze you to death.

Gerrard59: But when Nigerians were appointed to head Western companies, they reduced the largesse of workers and introduced similar work practices as the Asians. Worse still, the firms never survived. At least, the Asian firms are still standing. What stops us from building successful companies as Asians? That should be your interest. Nigeria is too big for only Western companies to operate. corruption |

The western multinationals have a way of pampering their staffs which drives extra mile performance and staff retention up till retirement. Their pay and allowance packages are top-notch, international opportunities for training and transfer, high score work life balance holiday visa processing support, the list is endless.
By the time a staff retires, he has some good discharge packages that keeps him and his family sustained for a very long time.
Whereas these Asian tigers and indigenous companies will squeeze life out of you with their peanut salaries and allowance |
