There is this MBBS student from my area studying in unilorin, the guy told me that I should put in for physiology in unical this year, according to him I will get physiology with at least 240 in jamb. He told me if I could perform very well in year one I could cross to medicine.
Am afraid of the process altogether.
In last year's jamb na so I get 268 after targeting 310 grin this year i still don't trust myself.
Pls who else knows about this crossing thing cry before I go do mistake
Forget Unical if you're thinking about crossing, it's not possible . In fact, 95% of Nigerian universities don't allow transfer into medicine and dentistry. Just prepare well for jamb, score high and go in direct.
CareerRe: Between "Barbing And Phone Repair" Which One Is More Lucrative To Learn by Ruggedfighter: 9:05pm On Jan 04, 2022
Lol
People saying barbing is more lucrative, I laugh. A person who is good in phone repairs will make more money than someone who ks also good in barbing. I was an apprentice at a phone shop then and my boss was very good. I will not lie to you, he takes at least 10k home everyday, that's when business isn't good but the day business is good, he takes 20k-25k home everyday. Phone repairs is blood money oo

Stay away from Mbbs if surgery isn't your interest.
No point wasting years to get Mbbs if your aim ain't surgery.
You can be great and be involved in healthcare with other courses, just research.
Pharmacy isn't a substitute for Medicine, pharmacy isn't clinically oriented. It is more chemically oriented, product oriented and less patient centred (no pharmacy students/pharmacist should quote me).
Consider nursing if u love clinical sciences just don't stay in Nigeria after
Consider radiography if you have things for bio physical sciences
Consider MedLab if you love laboratories (I fkin love the labs but didn't do this)
Consider Biomedical Engineering if you are torn between engineering and medicine
And so on.
Only village people think MBBS is alpha and omega, world is evolving, no problem if you try once or twice but sitting at home for 6years because of MBBS is the height of foolishness, oh except you want to be a surgeon of which without MBBS you can't start being one.
Fatherly advice
I'm trying so hard to understand the message you're trying to pass across, honestly.

Thanks Chief.
Can you also List the textbooks you used
You're welcome bro

I usually do combine two or more textbooks.
For physics I used New school physics, all inclusive physics and Essential physics.
Chemistry, I used Ababio and Essential chemistry
Biology I used Modern biology and Essential biology
English, I used just Invisible teacher.

That was all I used.

I must say a nice diary you got there.
A little help here.
How where you able to combine both school wok and jamb prep.
What was your study duration for jamb.
What was the strategy you used in score high in jamb and maintain a good gp
Thanks
Thank you so much for following and dropping a positive review.

Combining school and Jamb was quite difficult I must say though, trying to meet up with your school work and also preparing for jamb was really time and strength demanding so you just have to be ready to take it however it comes, it's part of the price one must pay. Then as a student too, I didn't attend all my classes, I skipped the ones that I could skip and read them on my own to save time. Also there was the strategy I used, I usually read my course work during the day and read for jamb at night, once I'm done for the evening, I'd go home and rest then continue at night, Jamb was also not a new thing to me, so that helped as well, I knew how the questions were set and I didn't bother reading some unnecessary stuffs too. It was very very stressful but God helped me. So, yea.

Never despise the days of little beginning.

Above was my early post on this thread as an aspirant 7 years ago. I officially bagged MBBS Ibadan today by God's grace.
Thanks for the guidance provided. I found a family here
I had no As in WAEC. I started with 251,245 and then 283 in Jamb by 2013. It was difficult getting admission but I kept on working hard and praying. I got admitted into EKSU, OAU, UI for medicine and surgery.
A story of determination, hard work, good support network and of course grace of God.

You can do it guys . Never allow anyone talk you down on your dreams. If you fail at different attempts, strategize again and up your game. You are unstoppable
Congrats chief. I tap into this

OAU- maybe not
Unilag- maybe not
Uniben- Yes definitely

Uniben that a dude with 292 got in last time with 88 p utme score another 291 86 p utme score. Our own MrEgghead here got in with 296 and 81 p utme score. In UNN person with 288 and 290 in putme still got in based on catchment. Why do you want to make it sound like only 300+ get admission to study medicine in Big schools. Is UNICAL a big school compared to the aforementioned schools? No!
A school you will equate UNICAL to is uniport and many 280+ gained admission. I chose UNICAL to increase my chances of admission actually not knowing I was actually avoiding fry pan and heading straight into fire.

A putme score of 79 in uniben would give me an aggregate of 77 which will definitely get me in. EVen the UNILAG, OAU and UI you can't tell its all the admitted student that got 300+ that's a fallacy. They might not be many but you'll definitely see students with scores between 290-299 for sure

You are making it sound like only those 300+ are the only ones that deserve to study medicine. Anyone below 300+ should go study botany undecided

You score 300 and 80 in utme and post utme respectively and I scored 299 and 81, do you know my aggregate is higher than yours? undecided drop that mindset jarey
Bro, 299 without post utme can't get you a slot in Uniben, I'm talking about the screening method and not with post utme, Unical didn't do post utme this year or did they?. As at 2016 when post utme was scrapped then, Uniben cut 313 for medicine. I'm not saying only 300+ deserve medicine please, what I'm saying is, majority of the federal schools will always cut above 300 for medicine without post utme because of the competition there plus connection slots too

Even a score of 280 can get medicine with post utme. If Unical had used waec/jamb combination, it'd have boosted the chances of many just like Uniport u stated. I know of someone who had 330 that didn't get it there because of o level so it's 2 ways bro.

Yes from catchment Area. 299 not enough? Joke of the year. There are 97 presently on the admission list. People with 300+ I'm very sure ain't up to 35. We all know there are many on the list with less than 290. Cut me some slack abeg. It's your school, you want to defend them but there's apparently nothing to defend
Sorry man, you don't have to respond that way. Can you use 299 to get into schools like OAU, Unilag,Uniben and the likes?. It's not about defending a school, I'm only being rational. I know a lot state schools that will accept that score but most federal schools under the guise of being a federal school will not accept below 300 but that being said, your score is very much okay for a catchment area and there's still hope. Just keep your fingers crossed, I wish you the best

Omo I'm tired and fed up I've been trying to get in to medicine for 4 years now Into federal skul ui and OAU it's always 4 Mark's and 5 Mark's like say na curse,it will have been easier for ,I'm giving it one last shot even tho I had 284 ,as opposed to 300+ I do get,it'll be in a state school, I hope it'll work out in my favor, IJN
I tried for 6yrs and it paid off the 6th year. Thank God u changed school already, most of these big schools be frustrating students. Well, don't give up yet, you may be close yo getting it. I hope you get it this time around.

299

I didn't contact anyone to run levels for me
299 for medicine is not enough in Unical, from what I know last year. Are u from catchment area?
