Please i need some advise here. I have a 16year old relation who got 65 aggregate for Uniben Medicine. She is from Edo.

Iam looking at some options for her.

(1) Retake JAMB next year.

(2) Take any 4year science course and try to switch to Medicine in 200Lvl. What 4year science will be appropriate for this?.

(3) If (2) is not possible, complete the 4year course and use it to gain entry to 200Lvl Medicine.

Please urgent replies are needed as she has been crying as the PUTME result was a great shock. There was total chaos in Uniben PUTME this year especially for those that wrote on the first day. Some students even fainted.

Hello, NL1960. Your sister's score is quite okay, but sadly, that won't give her medicine.

1. Taking jamb next year will depend on what she really wants though, if she's determined to do medicine, then taking jamb again next year is the best option she has.

2. This is a total NO. It's 99% impossible. You can't switch to medicine in Uniben, except maybe you're the VC's relative or maybe you know someone with a high profile. The profile has to be very very high because I know of someone who tried switching even with the kind of connect he had, it still didn't work. Well, I did too, nothing came out. I'm not trying to discourage you, I'm just telling you how it is.

3. On this note, I'll now have to chip in this piece. Let her change her course NOW. When I say NOW, I mean ASAP. Let her change to a professional course, say Radiography before admission starts, if she's fast enough, she'll be given. Instead of her studying the 4yrs course and hoping to come back, let her do something professional, so that in case, the medicine passion dies along the line, she'll have something reasonable to hold on to. There are nice professional courses she can get with her aggregate range, let her do her findings and change NOW. I know someone it worked for. He applied for medicine but his score wasn't up to, he quickly changed to pharmacy and he got in, though he took jamb again. It can work for her too, if only she's fast enough. Admission now is 50% smartness and 50% intelligence.

Hi Medics,

It's been a very long walk for me. I recall when I first found this thread, it was when I was looking for admission into medschool. I once wrote then that I'd be back here one day to share my testimony. Today is that day. As of yesterday, I qualified as a medical doctor.

The past seven years have really been interesting. I was supposed to finish medschool in 5 years as I was a DE student. But Nigeria happened to me, I got two more years even though I did not repeat any class. But here I am today celebrating success.

I thank you all for all you do here. I thank the creator of this thread (Chief Lagusta). I thank the posters. I thank those that ensured this page didn't die. This thread helped me, it helped many before me, and it will help many after me. I've just concluded my medschool diary, if interested, you may want to read through it.

For all those still in the training, and for those still trying to get in, I wish you all success. It's possible, just continue trying.

My guy, I believe you've been to all the hospitals in Nigeria and you know how all doctors behave there. There's no profession that there are no lackadaisical people, they're everywhere, especially government jobs, it takes discipline and the fear of God to do a govt job diligently, so I wonder why you're just narrowing it down to doctors only. There must always be the bad eggs in everything, doesn't make the whole thing bad. Have you asked yourself if the young man is part of those "called to do medicine" as you've claimed?

Bro, I understand the frustration that comes with this admission+medicine thing. If I'd recommend a school for you, I'd say Uniuyo since they use only Jamb results for admission and their fees are quite reasonable too. You just have to hit very hard on the jamb exam to increase your chances of getting in. Unical is a good option too, I'd have recommended uniport but their fees are on a high side now. Uniuyo and Unical would be your best bet for now. All the best, bro.

It's possible with your microbiology degree but you will start from 200l not 300l

Good day Bosses, I have a question about something that has been bothering me. I am a botanical student in 300 level, first semester, I plan to go for D.E into mbbs after rounding up my program, though I'm not on 2.2 (a weak one) but I have resolved to up my game and work harder so as to graduate with a 2.1. Now the issue is, I do atimes think that maybe God wants botany for me coz I reapplied Jamb while in 200lvl but didn't got it still due to low jamb score. I have been hearing people say if God has destined something for you, you should stick to it till the end, and just the fear of going against the destined path for me is really bothering me, what do you think Bosses?

Nothing good comes easy. Applying and not getting it easily doesn't mean God wants botany for you. Perhaps, if God wants botany for you, it'd have been smooth, don't you think?. You probably are not putting enough efforts in your studies (considering your GP and low jamb score, no offense please). If you want medicine, study hard and get a high jamb score or put all your efforts into your botany, so you don't end up losing everything.

Hello guys, please i studied physiology and came out with 2nd class upper and I applied for direct entry to mbbs in ebsu. Please, do anyone know how possible it is to get admitted into ebsu. I heard they are stict and their quota is small for non indigen.
