33m times 1MW slowpoke is 30,000MW. That is South Africa level. Your installed capacity is 5,000MW. Your generation capacity is 3,000MW - normally it about 2,000MW - with most going into smelting aluminum. Like this graph shows - you have slightly advantage over kenya in per capita usage. Just40:

Ghana - useless country doesnt even grow wheat https://www.modernghana.com/news/1146989/wheat-ghana-a-tropical-country-does-not-grow.html |
The assumption being you grow your own cheap wheat? Kenya at least grow wheat...about half our consumption. You dont harvest even one bushell of wheat. Kenya normally charges just 13% duty on wheat to protect kenya wheat farmers Now it's duty free. So slowpoke how can Ghana imported wheat become cheaper than Kenya ![]() And start to grow even one acre of wheat Just40: |
Ghana mini zoo - if Nigeria is nothing to Kenya - why would little Ghana be anything. Only when people get bored do they talk about Ghana. Ghana who knows about it in Kenya. This thread is about kenya versus the Zoo. You're here imposing your little miserable self.vankelvin: |
Again such data summarize nonsense Just40:

Kenya lead the world in solar home systems - those are ones without main electricity - and kenya has world fastest electrification - census was 2019 - by now - in 2023 - 3million more have been connected. Data is easy to verify - we have one electricity supply company - KPLC. Just40: |
Hyperinflation in a tweet How is this affecting the super high cost of living we have in Ghana? A loaf of bread is still selling between 20-25ghc. I piece of tomatoes is selling@1ghc. 700ghc from the Flagstaff house is making you fool too much. Just watch your steps...... You step on a lots of toes |
It obvious if you remove kenya - there is nothing much left. Unless you dont know the data. Just40: |
This was in sept 2022 - now it worse -> A loaf of bread is 15 cedis now. The minimum wage in Ghana is currently 13 cedis. Remember in 2020 - it was 2 cedis - Only in Ghana 🇬🇭 wey buying of bread 2 cedis 🍞 saf get payment plan 😂😂😂😂😂😂 eii Then in 2021 it rose to 8 cedis Now who knows 20 cedis. Perfect description of HYPERINFLATION. In kenya bread has been 50-60shs forever. Just40: |
Only 6.9m are connected to main electricity out of 8.3 million. At least a million household or 4m plus Ghanians are still on kerosene lamps - worry about those. Kenya is a success story in electricity. Maybe you want to face Nigeria. Kenya likely to achieve universal electricity coverage in 2-3yrs. We are adding 1M plus annually - right now we should be at 10m - so next year we hit 11-12 - the year after we got to 13m. Few who will remain will have clean solar systems. Just40: |
Mobile money - East Africa(Kenya) lead by far - with 28B transactions - worth nearly half trillion USD

Ghana on the usual list of hyperinflation

Kenya turning corner in fighting against Malaria.

HDI scores. See North TZ benefit from kenya - otherwise it would be hopeless.

I used household. South Africa has around 18-19m. Kenya 12-13m. Ghana 8-9M households. Electricity is connected to households, facilities, businesses and such. South Africa has 17M connected to main electricity - Kenya is 9m - Ghana is about 4m - those are customers of electricity customers. Solar home systems include lights, fridges, tvs, radios and of course solar water heating. For the poor of course it mostly lighting, radio, phone charging and small tv. AfriqueDuZuid: |
Port efficiency in Africa.

Usual madness. Put links. No puke. Just40: |
Fact - those connected to main electricity - approaching 10M - metered connections. Ghana metered customers not even 4m. Kenya lead the world in small solar home system. I doubt there are kenyans still using lamps like the 1m household in Ghana - or 4-5m Ghanians. https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/business/business/article/2001464850/high-power-costs-drive-millions-of-kenyans-to-solar Just40: |
Kenya is ahead because those not connected to mains - are almost all using solar power. Kenyans have bought 7.5m household solar system - I think it's even beat India. https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/business/business/article/2001464850/high-power-costs-drive-millions-of-kenyans-to-solar Just40: |
Link. Not puke. Just40: |
Link. Not your puke. Just40: |
Mad cow. More madness. It that number of units in the apartment or the number of apartment. The simple rule - you share the link - so people can read for themselves the terminologies. Like here Just40:

They also disappeared!!! in great shame. Shma2023: |
I am yet to find a contrary opinion except expressed by madmen in this thread. Shma2023: |
Right since 2020 - they assembled only 4,700 cars. Not so bad for small zoo. Big zoo struggled to sell 32 new VW POLOS ![]()
|
Look like production of 4,700 (5k) since the Ghana Auto policy (I dont know when) - it could mean since 2019!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I was very generous. Ghana might be assembling something like 1,000 cars annually. https://www.myjoyonline.com/4700-locally-assembled-vehicles-sold-since-introduction-of-government-auto-policy/ |
My reading of this Twi - Ghana has 12,000 new car market - you have assembled 4,700 (so far) - that is according to OPPONG PREPRAH - Chair of MV Assemblers - what a name - OPPONG PREPRAH - https://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/business/4-700-vehicles-assembled-locally-so-far-Oppong-Preprah-1694144 vaxx: |
Production of assembled vehicles has been erratic in Kenya, rising from 6,948 in 2013 to 10,181 in 2015 (CAGR +13.58%).In 2016, production plunged -38% to 6,295 & a further -22% to 4,884 in 2017 (atleast a 5 year low).Production in H119 SURGED +19% to 3,152 v. 2,654 in H118. Anyway look like it's starting to grow! KNBS data shows that production of assembled vehicles for 11 months in 2022 was 13,621 units, which is 141% higher than the 5,653 units assembled in the whole of 2018. Again we are about a decade from entering morroco-like ramp up of car production. Egypt and Algeria are on it now.
|
Dont sweat it poor Ghanian. Car manufacturing only take off at 5,000 USD per capita. Ghana and Kenya are about half way there. Appisko: |
Yes I think future will be nuclear for many countries if safety is addressed, solar, wind, and geothermal. For kenya in medium term - realistically -I think we should do lots of solar with pumped storage (for base load) - and retire the thermal plants. Short term - continue to rump up geothermal production - 10,000mw capacity is far from being exhausted - and geothermally is really great as base load. Saddamochieng00: |
They are already lost in frustration, depression, crime and poverty due to lack of formal fulfilling jobs. Kenya has to be realistic - we cannot generate enough jobs - for now. In near future we will - once we are able to ramp up savings and investments - which build & expand factories, firms, companies, etc. Then our diaspora will be attracted to comeback home. When can kenya realistic take off. Most data suggest 2030. For now we are still laying the foundation. Once the economy hit take off - it will quickly generate millions of jobs - just like developed countries. samorobo: |
Last I checked South Africa did 500k; Morroco was close with 300k; Egypt was 3rd with 80k; Nigeria 20K; Kenya 15k: Ghana 5k; something like that. vaxx: |
