Kenya is not backwater Ghana. Bata producers 30 million shoes a year - mostly for school kids. These are genuine leather that parents love. That kenyan woman tried to introduce to your poor country but she gave up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKMYuP2jN7E There is a Bata shop/store in almost every market in kenya. In fact it would be really surprising if a kenyan went and didnt find a Bata store anywhere. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPVdh1c2wp0 Just40: |
Kariokor Leather cluster - informal shoes makers - 1.7M pairs of shoes, 2.2M sandals, 4.8M belts & 3M wallets https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHLvRjsB4Ho |
Kariokor in Nairobi downtown is East Africa largest informal shoe making places. They produce two million shoes per annum - gov has tried to build them new places - and they potential to produce 10 million shoes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4RjRL0gg08 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGAvBV8BDIU |
Sometimes understand the subject matter before embarrassing yourself. You're moving from 700M shoes import to 2 million pair shoes. Ghana has 30million people. If they were to buy one shoe per year - you'll need 30 million pair of shoes. What is two million shoes? Kenya would need 50 million shoes per annum. We import more than 6 million shoes a single quarter...those are new shoes...yearly its more than 40 million...and we havent counted gazillion of shoes that come in from US as second hand shoes. Kenya if it was to supply each kid with 3 shoes every term - you're talking 40 million school shoes alone. Understand these things. In kenya there many formal shoes makers - that export to US - and the rest. BATA - global shoes company - has factory in kenya - and produces mostly hardy shoes for school kids. I think biggest informal shoe market is Nairobi's Kariokor - they produce two million shoes - informally. Just40: |
I think first you need to stop eating animal hides and skin before you can talk footwear. You have to build the value chain. Kenya itself is a mess - the potential is huge - but we are still importing millions of used and new shoes. Ghana I know banned import of second hand shoes - but I dont think there is leather industry - you still import leather then make the shoes - mostly as cottage or informal shoe making. In 2020 the 3 largest SSA footwear exporters were South Africa, Cote d’Ivoire, and Kenya, exporting $124.9 million, $51.7 million, and $39.4 million of footwear, respectively.21 These countries have different destination markets for their footwear than Ethiopia. For example, while the United States was the largest destination for Ethiopian footwear exports in 2020, the largest destination markets for South Africa, Cote d’Ivoire, and Kenya were Namibia, Uganda, and Nigeria, respectively.22 Total exports from these SSA exporters did decline in 2019 and 2020 due to unfavorable macroeconomic conditions, including those caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, similar to Ethiopia and many large global footwear exporters, but not at as great a rate. vankelvin: |
Okay it's over. Ghana - I just called KQ the Africa Pride - and a jet is already taxing - waiting for the final whistle to be blown - and boys will be in Accra shortly. We still have Morroco and Senegal to redeem the Africa Pride and KQ |
There still a slim chance with 1-nil. You need to draw. vaxx: |
Fixed. obaaderemi: |
Kenya junior secondary to continue in primary school - more progress towards eliminating unnecessary boarding school obsession. Primary schools to have extra class and labs.

Why would I be envious of a Zoo and Mini Zoo? obaaderemi: |
When is Nigeria playing. Let Ghanian speak at least for next few hours before KQ jet takes them back home together with Cameroon. So far only Morocco seem to be doing great. obaaderemi: |

So apparently Ghana and Nigeria can only watch worldcup through either South Africa Multichoice -Dstv or Showmax ![]() How do these countries function - allowing South Africans to colonize them - bankings, beer, telcom, tv, supermarkets Kenya every world cup it's watched for free through national broadcaster - every important sporting events - KBC has right to air it - or mutlichoice can go show penguins in antartica their content. When South Africa Multichoice came to kenya - gov told them - Kenya gov to co-own Multichoice kenya or they forget about it. MultiChoice Kenya (MCK) is a joint venture between MultiChoice Africa and the Kenyan Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), a partnership that was cemented in 1995. Kenyan audiences have a choice of five DStv packages with a total of more than 150 channels, as well as five GOtv digital terrestrial (DTT) packages |

Infantile rants of a juvenile from the Zoo is no longer surprising. Please try something refreshing like arguing your case without resorting to base insults. Balogunodua: |
They are listed all over the internet. We list here contemporaneously. For the sake of your poor education - if football is happening - we discuss it - if something is happening on scrabble and other board games - let us know.Balogunodua: |
That would take me a year. Whenenver important sports is happening; we will update you here; otherwise if you want us to name everything today; so you can conclude with more insults; it worthless venture. Balogunodua: |
Olympics is the ultimate measure of sport excellences for many sports. Kenya has won in more disciplines than Nigeria. Balogunodua: |
All the other sports you havent named; we beat you; I hope you're aware there are thousands sports out there. Balogunodua: |
If spewing insults was a sport; kenyans would beat you. You guys have some of the most dour insults out there. Balogunodua: |
Olympics - has almost all the games - and you just need to check the table of wins. Kenya 113 Nigeria 27 - medal count. It's that simple. Balogunodua: |
Every sports has it's own medal or trophies. Nobody recognise Nigeria as giant of anything except poverty. kenya is globally known sporting giant. Balogunodua: |
My advice - they need to start sport competition from primary schools - that go all the way to national and international - and they might get somewhere. gallivant: |
At least you found another small sport you can claim victory. Kenya plays badminton. I personally played to provincial level in my high school. Participation in African Badminton Championships Men's team Year Result 1979 1st place, gold medalist(s) Champions 2008 Group stage 2010 Group stage 2012 Group stage Women's team Year Result 1979 1st place, gold medalist(s) Champions 2010 Quarter-finalist Mixed team Year Result 2013 Group stage Balogunodua: |
His idea of sports is football and individual board games and basketball - and all of these sports they only do well by tapping mostly Nigerians BORN and BROUGH UP ABROAD. They almost have zero local talent because there is no functional sport infrastructure right from primary schools. gallivant: |
How would we determine that kenya is better than Nigeria without using medals? Zoogerian - what should we use - our personal sentiments driven by ignorance. In almost all sports - it appears to me South Africa - Egypt - Kenya - that is general lay of Africa sports. Balogunodua: |
Volleyball - men you beat kenya but women - are world class - leading africa for donkey years http://todor66.com/volleyball/Africa/index.html |
Hockey - same thing - Kenya is just below Egypt and South Africa. Almost the same drill for many sport - South Africa- Egypt - Kenya https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field_hockey_at_the_African_Games |
Cricket - Kenya once reached semi-final. They have been an associate member of the ICC since 1981. Since then they have played in five Cricket World Cups from 1996 to 2011 with their best result being a semi-final appearance at the 2003 Cricket World Cup in Southern Africa. They have only qualified for one ICC World Twenty20 tournament with that being in 2007. The Kenyan national team is governed by Cricket Kenya. |
