I believe it happened this year already - there a big drop in recurrent expenditure as gov work worked home and travel budget was cut. A double pronged approach to restore Kenya’s revenue effort to its potential and efficiency in expenditure management are central to this reform. The report shows that there exists opportunity to raise more tax revenue by revisiting COVID related tax cuts and through removal of tax exemptions. These initiatives could lead to additional revenue yield of about 2.5 percent of GDP (from a baseline of about 18.2 percent of GDP in FY2018). On the expenditure side, the report identifies options for expenditure rationalization with approximately 2.6 percent of GDP in expenditure savings (from a baseline of 26.1 percent of GDP in FY2018). These revenue and expenditure containment targets could lead to a primary surplus of 0.8 percent of GDP in FY2021 and a reduction of public debt to 57 percent of GDP by FY2024. 1 The latest joint World Bank-IMF DSA has raised Kenya risks of debt distress to high. https://www.imf.org/en/ Publications/CR/Issues/2020/05/11/Republic-of-Kenya-Request-for-Disbursement-under-the-Rapid-Credit-FacilityPress-Release-49405 obaaderemi: |
Anybody can become a paper pusher in Goldman Sachs. Kenya KNBS has for a long time be run by Prof Ryan - who has been chairman of board of KNBS for a long time. But director general serve 2 terms and go home. Prof Terry Ryan is MIT graduate. Prof Terry Ryan a not only "oversees" KNBS but also sit on Central Bank MPC that determines policy rate - and he is top brain that Yemi Kale of Adis Ababa cannot wash his shoes. And before you go all racial - Prof Terry Ryan is kenyan born in Nakuru - and has been the chief gov economist advisor - and is well-regarded economist. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/LxJk_dn0eVI/maxresdefault.jpg obaaderemi: |
After running around with Kenya GDP is cooked seems you've hitched camp at loans. Kenya will in meantime have primary surplus - 1st one in 20yrs A budget surplus occurs when income exceeds expenditures. The term often refers to a government's financial state, as individuals have "savings" rather than rather than a "budget surplus." A surplus is an indication that a government's finances are being effectively managed. obaaderemi:

Limuru - Nairobi Metro - Kiambu. The sovereign hotel was the house of Kenya's long-serving former Intelligence chief Kanyottu - who with Moi looted the country dry. He lived alone in that huge house - and when he died - family converted into a hotel. Kanyottu's wealth was over 1B dollars - Moi and Kenyatta's - are without Africa richest - beating Dangote by far - having both looted Kenya for 25yrs each. Kenyatta land holding in Nairobi at about 15,000 acres is worth 15B dollars minimum. Possibly another 30,000 acres in Nairobi Metro - that is another 15B dollars minumum. And a total of 500,000 acres all over the country - including 10,000 acres in Nakuru city. The land holding alone is huge...and then companies and real estate - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15CFbtB-vbI |
Nairobi Metro - Kiambu - Two Rivers and Ruaka - few years this place was a farm - now it has more tall building than Accra . If they fix horizontal infrastructure - Ruaka can become a nice commercial center.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzmbUbEekgA&list=PLMTl_dtHWhi-bYGg7gPGgJZBGG8FBJAOS&index=5 |
Indeed. You can watch the video of Kenya large scale tea plantation. Kenya has risen to become world largest tea exporter. Without any doubt Africa Most beautiful farms. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQZcKeQmMCs vankelvin: |

No. it is easy to join any master's program or Ph.D. It is very hard to join IVY or OXbridge as undergraduate. Your need real pedigree. Joining a postgraduate is about money. Joining ivy league undergraduate where acceptance rate is sometimes 2 percent is pedigree. Now why did Yemi kale end up in Adis Ababa obaaderemi: |
Generally stadium in kenya do not see the needs for seat - football goons when they lose - rip off those plastic seats https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZN_ZN6iIPM&t=67s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daxzAE_2lF4 vankelvin: |
Europe is not kenya. It all depends on many factors. vankelvin: |
Yet as we speak IAAF is hosting a world event - something that wont happen in your lifetime in Ghana - with 100 countries plus participating This 2nd world event in 4yrs ![]() Wait for next Africa Cup of Nation - vankelvin: |
IAAF is not aware - and has hosted world events in Kenya. Many other sport association have also hosted big events in kenya. We will not spend money to build empty tombs vankelvin: |
It's COVID-19. Wake up. Nobody is allowed in the stadium. Nairobi's Kasarani hosted World Under 18 four years ago- and stadium overflowed - many were sent home. A record crowd for IAAF. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qV2fsMYs-1M Kenya Shattered its own record of the biggest attendance at an IAAF World Under 18 and Under 20 Championships in a day. The final day on Sunday saw the 60,000 seater stadium full to capacity. So big was the crowd that tens of thousands more were turned away by security officers. The cheers were felt far and wide, an here are some of the reactions from competitors and organizers. vankelvin: |
Bachelors is everything. Everyone can get Phd from anywhere. Bachelors shows pedigree. You can go to Harvard and get Phd or Master - but you will never be like someone who did they undergraduate in Harvard. obaaderemi: |
Sport in Kenya is a county (state in Nigeria) function. And every county is now building their own stadiums. They will be 47 stadium. Medium sized stadiums that can host county level function - not 100,000 capacity stadium in the middle of a bush like ASABA There are many stadiums built in the last 5yrs. Example- Kinoru stadium - Meru county - just completed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqaNSyC-wzo |
What is justification for building huge sport stadiums that will be empty 90 percent of the time. Right now every county is building their own medium size sport stadium...so about 47 will soon be ready. If we are host olympics that will bring say 1B dollars - yes we can then justify investing in modern stadiums. To invest billion dollars for CRAP AFRICA UNION FOOTBALL that will not even bring 100m dollars is crazy. Your opinion on Nairobi is irrelevant compared to JLL or KnightFrank. And Nairobi has already hosted world events - Nigeria cannot.. Vlain: |
Dont think hosting a world event is just merely a fancy stadium in the middle of nowhere. That is monumental waste of money.
|
Hosting a sport or a large events is more than a fancy stadium. That we can build in a year or two if there is justification. There are more important things - right from hotel and accomodation, road infrastructure, security, airport and many such facilities. Kenya has increasingly proven it can host world events. Both sports and big international conferences. Why would Nairobi host Olympics soon. It simple. It already one of biggest global and modern cities - and going by it's growth trajectory will probably be biggest city in Sub-Sahara (infrastructure/real estate wise) in 10yrs overtaking Joburg. Nairobi has pretty much most of elements to support a big event.. And we will be given 5-10yrs to build fancy stadiums. You cannot start from fancy stadium - and like ASABA thing - althetes get stuck in Lagos airport for a week. Nigeria you totally embrassed yourselves https://nairobinews.nation.co.ke/sports/reprieve-kenyan-athletes-after-forced-layover-nigerian-airport Vlain:

Kenya has had two inflection point - 2005 is when economy took big turn for the better - it almost hard to reverse that growth trajectory - it will take gigantic mess. Kenya also with Cok2010 made big turn for better legally and politically speaking - it almost now impossible to reverse those political gains - the Cok2010 is sum of all lessons we had learnt in 50yrs and where we do not want to go. Yesterday rulling is important because no future politician will ever attempt to change the constitution without a very thorough process. Let them play their politics but leave constitution alone, the independent judiciary and other institutions are going to become more embolden to protect public interest. We still have big problem with police - they are supposed to be independent - and reformed - but they remain ever corrupt. kikuyu1: |
The day 4 of World Althetic Under 20 championship in Nairobi - with 100 plus countries participating. Like I said Nairobi is likely to be first city to host olympics in Africa. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoifJNI0yrI |
What is your credentials in that domain so we can stop listening to world biggest real estate firms like JLL and KnightFrank - and start listening to barely literate Nigerian who cannot string two coherent setences together? Vlain: |

Obaboon, I am not sure which rules govern the chairmanshio of Fedbank - but this classic banana republic Yemi kale will continue keeping you fooled - not us Upon the expiry of his first tenure in August 2016, Udo Udoma, minister of budget and national planning, issued a circular extending his stay in office beyond his tenure, with no specific date of completion. And this comment is very telling In South Korea and China, to grow, they MANUFACTURE goods, develop infrastructure etc. In Nigeria, to grow we MANUFACTURE statistics. obaaderemi: |
