Are we back to sprawling slumsplis? Like you discovered with Nairobi - every kenya town or city has more single homes - of world class standards - than any part of Ghana. I know you thought Nairobi was all tall buildings - but I showed that half of Nairobi is actually high class single dweller units - that few Ghanians can afford to live in. The same for Kericho. Urban centers - middle of city - yes will have tall office buildings, malls - there will section for apartments - all clustered together - there will be section for industrial areas. Just30: |
What infrastructure to you? And what do you mean better planned? Pick any parameter btw Kumasi and Eldoret - eldore comes top. vankelvin: |
There goes the mad-man. No city - in entire west africa - lagos included - has Nairobi infrastracture. Nairobi is closing down on South Africa's cities. Pick any parameter - Nairobi has no match in West Africa or Central Africa. Just30: |
Dont guess. Ask. Nairobi is. Just30: |
As always prove it. Accra look like a cattle kraal - Kumasi is crap - Takoradi? Show me a town of 30k - with 10, 15 floors of buildings, malls, sewage systems, name it Just30: |
There has to be requisite infrastructure. This Daadab refugee camp in kenya - with 200,000 people. Should we call a city https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxOlp-nmFXg vankelvin: |
This eldoret town - few thousands to become a city - about 200,000 people now. it has more infrastructure than Accra or Kumasi ![]() https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZO0t9MMLZg&t=651s |
Based on population - maybe - based on infrastructure definitely not. A town in kenya - 10k to 50k population - but it must have requisite infrastructure. This is my hometown - last I checked it had 30K population https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePN_C_746jU Just30: |
Sound argument 101. You refute with your own more credible figures. I got them from the internet - genius. Show me the 1,000 plus 0.5M cities in little South Africa. AfriqueDuZuid: |
http://www.parliament.go.ke/sites/default/files/2017-05/UrbanAreasandCitiesAct_No13of2011.pdf For example - a Town (a) a population of at least ten thousand residents according to the final gazetted results of the latest population census carried out by an institution authorized under any written law, preceding the grant; (b) demonstrable economic, functional and financial viability; (c) the existence of an integrated development plan in accordance with this Act; (d) the capacity to effectively and efficiently deliver essential services to its residents as provided in the First Schedule; and (e) sufficient space for expansion. Shackman, never heard of monthly accounting, quartely maybe. D AfriqueDuZuid: |
South Africa has only 9 - if you include Soweto - with 0.5M people. The only thing you own is probably the stuff in your shack. You do not posses South Africa Cape Town 3,433,441 Durban 3,120,282 Johannesburg 2,026,469 Soweto 1,695,047 Pretoria 1,619,438 Port Elizabeth 967,677 Pietermaritzburg 750,845 Benoni 605,344 Tembisa 511,655 AfriqueDuZuid: |
Shackman - stop using plurals - it shows a LOSS. Not losses. You need to wait for it to make another loss. For it to become losses. It has made profits for 42yrs. AfriqueDuZuid: |
You're an idiot 500,000 times 1000s is 500M - are you China or India. 500,000 is a big city. Unless youre talking west africa slumpolis without any infrastructure. Kenya cities use to start at 0.5M - but now it been lowered to 0.25m. If Centum within it's own land will host 200,000 and 50,000 will grow outside it - then it will become a city. The same with Tatu and others. AfriqueDuZuid: |
Madcow in Ghana definitely - your sprawling slums - will be called cities Kenya has urban law The same law also allows a county to declare an urban area a municipality if it has a resident population of at least 50,000 residents, while for an area to be declared a town it has to have at least a population of 10,000 residents and a market centre would only require 2,000 residents . Just30: |
Again present CONTINOUS - KQ is making losses - Centum made a loss. This is the stuff you should have been taught in pre-primary if you had any education worth it's salt. AfriqueDuZuid: |
So Daadab refugee camp in kenya with 200,000 somalis is a city. Or the 200,000 south sudanese in Kakuma camp ?. Not kenya urban areas are defined based not only on population but infrastructure. It starts from village market centers, to towns, to municipals, to cities and metropolis. A City now requires 250K population with requiste infrastructure. AfriqueDuZuid: |
Shackman. They made a small loss. They are not making losses. That is present continous tense - and you have no evidence of that. AfriqueDuZuid: |
Shackman nearly every company made losses in covid period. Making a loss doesnt mean the company is struggling. This first loss - small loss -compared to the profit they normally make. Centum Investment Group has posted the first full-year loss in 42 yrs. AfriqueDuZuid: |
Vipingo is not a village; Vipingo is large sisal estates owned by Rea Vipingo. Rea Vipingo is Africa largest sisal producer with estates in Kenya and Tanzania. The particular land lies btw Mombasa and Kilifi - you drive for almost 30kms of Vipingo sisal estate - touching the sea. They have more than 100,000 acres. Centum bought shares of Vipingo targetting the land. Eventually when Rea Vipingo wanted to delisted - Centum refused - and demand some of land - they were given 10,000 acres worth 1Billion dollars I bought into Centum's Two Rivers - all units in phase one have been sold out. The same for Vipingo city - all units already sold out. Centum has 10,000 acres to go. They are selling beach front plots for 0.5M dollars. They have just done a few hundred of acres - but onces completed the 10,000 acres will host 200,000 people plus...the same as Tatu City. Centum just made their first loss in decades thanks to COVID - otherwise Centum is a solid company - although the founder died this year - Chris Kirubi. https://kikubolane.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/chris_kirubi_dead60c75096c1989.jpg |
So coz Elon Musk went to Pretoria - now Pretoria is the world best university. Dude - random outliers like those are everywhere. Some did not even attend any university. See you IQ is very low. If Pretoria admits and award a degree to an idiot like you - no wonder - some idiots recently managed to kill your MEDOPI power plant https://www.news24.com/fin24/Economy/eskom-confirms-explosion-at-medupi-no-injuries-reported-20210809 South Africa prognosis is very bad - you cannot have goats - with poor education standards - managing complicated systems. Improve basic education first. The 5 or so Boer Universities worked because the Boers had invested in apertheid system - that ensure their schools from basic to high was well funded. Now majority of you are joining best BOER universities due to BBE - and such entitlment - and you cannot add one plus one to save your life. Outcome https://twitter.com/chrisyelland/status/1424761349238894598?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1424761349238894598%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.news24.com%2Ffin24%2FEconomy%2Feskom-confirms-explosion-at-medupi-no-injuries-reported-20210809 AfriqueDuZuid: |
We know you live in Soweto - and I think you're from Xhosa - one of those mixed Khoisan-bantu tribes. AfriqueDuZuid: |
Which world best university would admit a goat like you. Unless you were as rich as Trumps or Gadaffi. AfriqueDuZuid: |
We were talking hostels. University of Nairobi is top 10 university in Africa. You definitely could not be admitted to UON - leave alone our course - where everyone we were with had A or worse a very strong A minus. We were the creme de la creme then. And still are - my classmates - many have PHDs - some are full proffesors - and many are top proffesionals in the world. AfriqueDuZuid: |
Soweto - you looted Joburg. AfriqueDuZuid: |
Dude you burnt some of them to the ground - how can they be rebuilt so quickly - some of them are structurally damaged . And you will do it again and again - over any flimsy reason. If not attacking foreigners - you are attacking business. If insurance pays - I bet half of them will use it to relocate to Australia and such places. For poor somalis and ethiopias owning informal shops - without insurance - they should invest in guns - because you will attack them again before the end of this year. AfriqueDuZuid: |
Shackman that rich coming from a slum dog like you. I went to Nairobi and stayed at Chiromo hostel - the entrace to that Dusit Hotel terror attack. It was better than your shack. Waaaay better. We were with Nameless/Nonini at same time at UON - they are muscianist cum proffesional - architects - and they took their shoot back at UON https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQA7TWaMvQM&t=2367s AfriqueDuZuid: |
Better than anything in Nigeria. Vlain: |
Kenya - Private Hostel Sector - just starting from scratch - I think South Africa have like 150,000 private hostel beds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NbYxisnac4&t=2s |
Read again; there is a infographic there; showing the extensive damage the Shackman did on their retail sector; even worse on informal retail Vlain: |
Typical students rooms - in private hostels

Qwetu - is one of leading private sector hostel providers - with 5 residences in various parts of Nairobi and more under constructions https://qwetu.co.ke/
