August 5, 2015 • By

Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, the new Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC on Wednesday sacked all the eight Group Executive Directors (GEDs) of the Corporation a day after he assumed office.

In what seemed to be the beginning of the much sought re-organisation of the Corporation, Kachikwu has also appointed for Group Executive Directors to replace the sacked chief executives.

The sacked GEDs- Ian Udoh (Refining and Petrochemicals) Adebayo Ibirogba (Engineering and Technical team) David Ige (Gas and Power) Attahir Yusuf (Business Development) Dan Efebo (Corporate Services) Bernard Otti (Finance and Accounts) Aisha Abdurrahman (Commerce and Investments) and Joseph Dawha (Exploration and Production) were appointed by former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014.

The reduction of the directorates of the NNPC from eight to four, according to NNPC was part of the restructuring of the organization which began with the appointment of Kachikwu on Tuesday.

The new offices and their heads include, Directorate of Refining and Engineering to be headed by Dr M.K Baru, Mr Denis Nnamdi to take charge of the Directorate of Exploration and Production.

Mr Bankole Komolafe has been appointed Group Executive Director for the Directorate of Commercial and Investment, while Mr Isiaka Abdulrazak will now head the Finance Directorate.

PoliticsRe: Radiobiafra Launches Another Satellite. by SaAbbas(m): 4:12pm On Jul 30, 2015
Advice on How to get Biafra

1: Tell all the South Eastern senators and members of
the federal house of assembly to quit their
leadership positions and come back to their
motherland.

2: Request for all our Igbo brothers
in the Nigerian army to be dishonourably
discharged so they would come and receive
training from Nnamdi Kanu and prepare for the 2nd civil war.

3: Recall every indigene of the
South East that is in the Northern zones, since they now call it the zoo.

4: Create a Biafran
ocean and build a standard seaport that will help the shipment of goods to the South east.

5: Form a Biafran police force that will help start enforcing arrogant laws on the people of the South East like
the so called director oppresses and abuses everyone online and on air. 6: Buy Fighter Jets, Tanks and automatic rifles from countries like Russia, France or the US that even refused to sell
to the great country Nigeria, maybe they will consider and sell to Nnamdi Kanu.

7: Tell all the
Igbo's in other part of this country to carry their
house and family and come to the new country
you are about to form for them.

8: Let all Igbo's leave the Nigerian currency he or she has in
Nigerian banks, and come back to Biafra and
work for the Biafran pound, remove the Nigerian
plate numbers in your cars, tell MTN, Airtel,
Etisalat Nigeria to change their suffix names here
in the south to MTN Biafra etc, Also tell all the
websites in the world to include the new country
Biafra to the list of countries that is been
chooosed when creating an account.

9: Every
Nigerian school like the University of Nigeria at
Nsukka, UNTH and every other Nigerian office in
the south east must be uprooted and carried
back to Abuja, lol.

10: When all this and much
more have been done, come down to the south
east, Mount a flag of Biafra anywhere that an
army officer will see you doing so, this will help
start a fight with the Northern military personnel
here in the south east. Do it & watch out # God_
bless_Nigeria jare.

CrimeNigerians Arrested In Spain For Controlling Prostitutes With Juju by SaAbbas(op): 12:52pm On Jul 28, 2015
A man and a woman of Nigerian origin have been arrested over claims that they forced Nigerian women into prostitution and deployed voodoo to keep their victims under their control, Spanish police said Sunday.

The two suspects were arrested on a warrant issued by Norway after a Nigerian woman lodged a complaint against them in Oslo.

Spanish police said the pair promised their victims, who were living in extreme poverty, a job and that they would cover their travel expenses. They would then force them to become prostitutes.

The young Nigerian woman who filed the complaint had herself been lured in 2011 to Spain by a woman who promised her work.

When she arrived in Spain, however, she was kidnapped and held in an apartment on the southern edge of Madrid.

Her abductor then forced her to work as a prostitute in several Spanish cities, as well as Bordeaux in France and finally Oslo, claiming she was owed a 60,000-euro ($66,000) debt).

“The ‘madam’ and her accomplices had control over her, using all methods of aggression and threats and resorting to traditional Juju voodoo practices, including animal sacrifices,” the police said.

In these rites, the victims are forced to take a pledge of obedience, which they are then persuaded into believing that they would fall ill or become insane if they fail to obey, according to Amnesty International.

The two suspects were arrested at their home with police finding false identity documents and several objects linked to the rituals there.

Six Nigerians including four women were convicted in France last month over similar charges.

Also in June, Spanish police dismantled a trafficking ring that they said used voodoo rituals to force women into prostitution.

EducationNiger Republic Based Maryam Abacha University Declared Illega- NUC by SaAbbas(op): 9:32pm On Jul 23, 2015
(ABUJA)

National Universities Commission (NUC) has warned Nigerians that degrees from Maryam Abacha American University of Niger (MAAUN) will not be accepted in Nigeria.

Ibrahim Yakasai, Director Information and Public Relations, NUC said this at a press briefing yesterday.

This is even as Ghana National Accreditation Board (NAB) recently banned 53 tertiary institutions including the ones NUC alerted Nigerians about.

He said that NUC as the only quality assurance agency for universities in Nigeria, will not accept degrees from MAAUN in Nigeria as NUC does not accept degrees below the Nigerian standard.

He disclosed this on the heels of inquiries from Nigerian students who had been offered admission to the Republic of Niger’s Maryam Abacha University on for four-year part-time courses in Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science and Public Health and others.

He said: “in Nigeria, the duration for a full-time degree programme is not less than three years for direct entry and at least six years for part-time, while professional programmes in Science, Engineering and Health Sciences, including Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science and Public Health are not offered on part-time basis in Nigeria. Also, all part-time Cross Boarder Education in Nigeria is not allowed.

NUC has never questioned the approval status of universities outside Nigeria, which are mostly covered under bilateral agreements, but will continue to ensure that only certificates obtained from reputable universities are accepted in Nigeria. Indeed, all countries are at liberty to accept or reject certificates from any foreign university they feel is operating below their acceptable standards.”

He urged parents and guardians to always cross-check with the commission before sending their wards beyond the shores of Nigeria.

He he added that online degrees are not being accepted in Nigeria yet.

CareerBritish Police Force Demands Anyone That Wants To Join Must Learn Yoruba, Italia by SaAbbas(op): 6:03am On Jul 21, 2015
Scotland Yard has come under fire today after placing an advert demanding that anyone wanting to join as a police officer be able to speak a second language.

The Metropolitan Police wants to bolster the number of officers able to speak and understand 14 languages which are widely used across London.

As part of a month-long trial which started today, new recruits must speak English and one of Yoruba (Nigeria), Hebrew, Arabic, Hindi, Punjabi, Italian, German, Turkish, Greek, Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Sinhala (Sri Lanka) or Bengali to join as Met Police officers.

But the move has sparked criticism from a former officer and members of the public on Twitter.

Retired Met Police officer Chris Hobbs wrote: “I’ve kept reading and re-reading it. Can’t believe it. What about potential BME (black and minority ethnic) recruits who only speak English.”

He added: “Won’t this also adversely affect the recruitment of guys and girls from the black community whom we would like 2 [sic] see more of?”

After Commissioner Bernard Hogan-Howe set an ambitious target of having 40 per cent of all officers from Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, only 18 per cent met that criteria when the latest intake passed out in March.
According to a report published by the London Assembly Police and Crime Committee in December 2014, before the most recent recruitment campaign, only 11 per cent of officers serving in the Met were from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background, compared with approximately 40 per cent of the population of London. The current BME figure in the Met is now 12 per cent.

Members of the public also appeared less than enthusiastic about the new initiative.

Simon Holdaway tweeted: “The Met’s lack of understanding of the problems it faces is stunning’, while another user wrote: ‘the lunatics have finally overtaken the asylum.”

Meanwhile, Carole Hawkins tweeted: “For £19,000 a year, this country is now getting really stupid.”

Metropolitan Police commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe said: “We know that almost 300 languages are spoken in the capital. We need to recruit and deploy officers with second languages in areas where those languages are spoken.

“I believe it will help boost confidence, help to solve crime more effectively and support victims and witnesses.”

A Met Police spokesman said: “It’s a pilot scheme for four weeks. We will review it after four weeks and see what the take-up is and how successful it has been in terms of the number of people expressing an interest.

“With so many languages spoken in London we recognise that some of our victims, witnesses and others who come into contact with the police may not be fluent in English.

“This is about strengthening our capability to match the needs of some Londoners. We know there is a demonstrable link between the skills and capabilities of our workforce and public confidence in London’s police.

“The language requirement is the latest in a number of initiatives the MPS has introduced in a bid to make the MPS more reflective of London’s communities.”

Chairman of the Metropolitan Black Police Association, Janet Hills, said: ‘This is about the cultural competency of officers within the organisation and those they are looking to recruit.

“The MetBPA are broadly supportive of the intention but recognise that more needs to be done to effectively utilise the existing skills of Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic officers by consciously placing them into communities where they will have the greatest impact.

“Language is just one of the competencies that the MPS can utilise but unless officers with the right skills are placed in the right locations these attributes will be wasted.”

PoliticsI’m Not Under House Arrest – Kwankwaso by SaAbbas(op): 9:47am On Jul 04, 2015
Former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, yesterday denied the report in a section of the media that he was being placed under house arrest by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Kwankwaso, now representing Kano Central senatorial district at the National Assembly, said in a statement that he was neither invited by the EFCC nor was ever prevented from discharging his legislative duties by any agency.

The statement, signed by his private secretary, Muhammad Inuwa Ali, however, noted that some political detractors of the politician were bent on causing a rift between him and the anti-corruption agency.

It noted that sometimes in 2015, some political opponents of Kwankwaso wrote a petition against him to the EFCC.

It noted that the ex-governor’s supporters sought his permission to institute legal action against the said petitioners, to which he consented.

It noted however, that to Kwankwaso’s surprise, “the supporters and their lawyers instituted an action against the EFCC instead of restricting the case to be against the petitioners (our political opponents).

PoliticsElders Reject FG’s Plan To Build Nuclear Power Plant In A/ibom by SaAbbas(op): 9:32am On Jul 04, 2015
Akwa Ibom State Elders Caucus has called on the federal government to have a rethink on its plan to establish a nuclear power plant at Itu local government area of the state.

Briefing journalists yesterday in Uyo, Senator Anietie Okon, on behalf of the group, described the proposal as a monumental disaster-in-waiting for the people of the state.

Okon explained that the federal government’s plan did not conform to international standards guiding the implementation of civil nuclear programmes across the globe which impose collective safeguards and serve as a check on the quality, health and environmental safety of the proposed projects.

The project, he said, would put several communities in the state and the lives of millions of people at risk more so in a country like Nigeria, with a poor track record in the management of power infrastructure. “We have every reason to be disturbed,” he said.

According to him, the process is shrouded in secrecy and appears bent on bypassing procurement rules as details of an agreement entered with the Russian company, Rosatom, since 2012, has since not been made public.
