African govts especially the regime in Nigeria are just bunch of confused illitrates. Do they in their wilderst imagination think total lock down for weeks is possible in a poverty ridden continent? Not possible.
Lock downs are for developed countries, not developing countries. Developed countries have the means, resources and infrastructure to keep citizens at home for months. What infrastructure and resources do developing countries have? You tell people that (barely make a dollar daily) live base on hand to mouth to stay at home and you think they'll not complain?
Like someone rightly said, the best African govts should have done is declare holidays with salaries for civil servants and cancel all govt functions, to ease traffic and prevent large gatherings. Then allow markets to open for certain periods say 8:00am to 4:00pm, for bussiness activities to flow.
Issuing lock down orders on a continent where 80 percent of the population make their little income on a daily bases is nothing but a dead sentence. It will never work.

What the fg should have done is to close all schools ,give workers both state and federal workers 4 weeks break with double pay, ask all non essential private business to close for the same period , this will automatically reduce movement by 50% , give food markets 8hrs period to open every day. And establish testing centers in all wards and local government areas ,.TESTING IS THE KEY TO DEFEATING CORONA VIRUS NOT LOCKDOWN . the more you get ppl tested, the more you will understand and know what to do.

It's very possible the number of casualties from covid 19 in China was hugely under reported visa vis their population. Since China's system of govt is authoritarian (communist) in nature, it's possible the Chinese govt sensored every information concerning covid 19 before they were released to the public. Chinese govt is not very democratic. They're rudeless and will do anything to achieve their agenda.

Lock down for prolong period of time in a patheticaly poor country like Nigeria is nothing but a recipe for anarchy considering the fact that vast majority of Nigerians make a living on a daily basis (live based on hand-to-mouth). Forcing these categories of people to stay indoors is nothing but a dead sentence, except palliatives have been worked out and implemented. But Alas, Nigeria is a country where thieves in political office consume vast majority of the country's meagre resources.
If this regime does not provide palliatives to cushion the effect of lock down on citizens, then it's just a matter of time before the poor eat up the rich.
