Thousands of people get missing yearly after meeting strangers online, and it's becoming prevalent not only in developed countries but also developing countries especially Nigeria. Ritualist and serial killers utterlize social media very well to prey on victims. Many profiles on facebook especally the ones that look promising and irresistable are fake. Even profile pictures on some accounts are stolen pictures. Of couse not everyone online is a criminal but it's better to be safe than sorry.
If a guy is serious enough to want to have a relationship with you, then he should be serious enough to come visit you at your parents house. If your online friend for some reason will not be able to make it to your parents house, then set a public place you're very familiar with close to your house as venue for your meeting. Don't go alone, go with a friend.

Never travel out of state to visit a stranger you met online.
